0:00now in preparing for emergencies there
0:03are guidelines to handling particular
0:06emergencies as I said before we do have
0:08a scope of practice we need to be able
0:11to recognize very quickly what might be
0:14considered life-threatening and we need
0:16to learn how to act fast on those
0:18conditions uh if you can obtain a chief
0:21complaint collect vital signs if you're
0:24able to do that and we're going to
0:26assist the provider in any way that's
0:29necessary also with emergencies what you
0:32might see is right away there's an
0:34assessment that's going to be done on
0:36this patient either going to obtain a
0:39level of responsiveness of the patient
0:41they may assess the patient's
0:43circulation Airway and breathing and
0:46then they're able to define the urgency
0:48level of urgency is this something that
0:50we can handle here as far as stabilizing
0:53or is this patient going to require
0:54further care
0:56I also wanted a medical emergency if
0:59needed we would assist by calling 9-1-1
1:02and of course everything that we do
1:04would be documented
1:07now there is some equipment that's very
1:10common when it comes to medical
1:11emergencies and you can see here in the
1:14picture that's a crash cart and a crash
1:16part is going to have all things
1:18necessary to assist in an emergency
1:21situation as well as first aid we do
1:25have a role in participating with the uh
1:29stock of the crash cart making sure that
1:32all of the supplies that are needed for
1:34that crash cart are in fact in the crash
1:36cart and they've been documented some of
1:39the equipment in the crash Park could
1:41consist of basic drugs that have to do
1:43with stabilizing patients wound care
1:45supplies and AED and of course CPR
