3:22That he's not deaf. He can hear everyone

3:25who's serious about the word that's

3:27going forward.

3:28Like, Lord, I want all of that for me.

3:31I receive all of that for me. I'm not

3:33sitting here in this room by accident on

3:35this day. I'm taking all of that for me.

3:40He ain't deaf.

3:45Hallelujah.

3:47[Music]

3:50Too much.

3:52Somebody just said too much.

3:55Come on, somebody shake your head like

3:57too much.

3:59[Music]

4:06Welcome my 28/19 family.

4:09[Applause]

4:21[Music]

4:23in the room and online wherever you're

4:26watching in cities around the country

4:28and a few pockets around the world to

4:30our family local and to our family

4:32abroad. We welcome you to the first

4:35gathering of our harvest year. I'm going

4:37to keep saying that. This is the our

4:39harvest year in the name of Jesus. You

4:42know, and I believe this is going to be

4:43a radical year where God is going to

4:45give us new brothers and sisters, a

4:47mighty harvest of new disciples, new

4:49brothers, new sisters, new mothers, new

4:52fathers,

4:55that there'll be no place to stand left

4:57in this room by the end of the year from

4:59the harvest that's going to come in in

5:00the name of Jesus.

5:02And I want to encourage some of you in

5:04this room who've been sitting in these

5:06gatherings for years and complaining

5:08that nothing's changing. Nothing's

5:10changing because you're not changing.

5:13And if you want things to change, you

5:15need to change.

5:17You need to stop presuming upon God at

5:19some things that you're responsible for.

5:22So, I'm going to lean on you right here

5:24in the beginning. No cap, that you got

5:26to do some work this year.

5:28For some of you, this is the year for

5:30you to be known. I know what it feels

5:32like to not want to be known. To want to

5:34come in and slip out and remain

5:36anonymous because you're afraid that if

5:39people knew your lifestyle or what you

5:40was about, you'll be judged. Ain't no

5:42judgment here,

5:43man. The person with the microphone got

5:45issues.

5:47I repent of my own sin from the

5:49platform. We all a work in progress. WE

5:52ALL GOT ISSUES. WE ALL GOT MESS. AIN'T

5:54NOBODY PERFECT EXCEPT THE ONE who hung

5:56on the cross. So for some of you, this

5:58is the year for you to be known. come

6:00out the dark. Man, one of the greatest

6:02things you will ever have is friends,

6:05relationships, shoulders to lean on. So

6:08when you cry, you don't cry alone. And

6:10when YOU GOT TO PRAY, you don't got to

6:12pray alone. AND WHEN YOU'RE IN TROUBLE,

6:13YOU DON'T FALL DOWN ALONE. THIS MIGHT be

6:15the year instead of running in and

6:17running out, you jump into a squad. You

6:19join a small group and you be known. You

6:22have friends.

6:24You have shoulders for when you go

6:26through. IT DON'T MATTER ABOUT YOUR

6:28money or your socioeconomic status.

6:30Problems is coming for everybody. And

6:32when problems come, you know what you

6:33need? Not money. You need shoulders.

6:36[Music]

6:37You need ears that can listen.

6:39Yes, sir.

6:40You need people that won't judge you and

6:42won't make you feel ashamed because you

6:43got issues.

6:45For some of you, this might be the year,

6:46man, to jump on a team, do a common

6:49thing with other people. Serve. For some

6:51of you, this is going to be the year,

6:52man, you come off some of that green

6:54gods. You support 28/19. You be a

6:58faithful giver. You see what God does in

7:00your finances as you honor him and keep

7:02him first.

7:05For some of you, this might be the year

7:07of perfect attendance where you don't

7:08miss a gathering.

7:10[Music]

7:16For some of you, this might be the year

7:17where you take notes and instead of

7:19listening to me talk every week, you

7:21actually go home and apply what's being

7:23taught and say, "Wow, God, I heard this

7:25message. I did what I heard. Something

7:27actually changed in my life."

7:32Ain't nothing changing with wishful

7:33thinking. It's hard work and

7:35application.

7:36Tweet that.

7:38Ain't nothing changing with wishful

7:39thinking. It's hard work and

7:41application.

7:43[Music]

7:48After today, at least seven days. For

7:50some of you, this will be the first time

7:51you fast for seven days. You consecrate.

7:54You turn down your plate. You turn your

7:56face towards God. You see what God does

7:58in seven days. He might speak to you and

8:00give you a brand new vision for the

8:01year. He might make your vision greater

8:03for the year. He might take the business

8:05idea you have, the ministry idea you

8:07have, and make it even greater. He might

8:09drop something in your spirit you didn't

8:10even think of.

8:16Amen, family.

8:18So, today is the opening weekend of a

8:20brand new series called The King is

8:22Here.

8:23[Applause]

8:25[Music]

8:25[Applause]

8:28And this is the first leg of teaching

8:31through a series through the book of

8:33Matthew.

8:34Uh, every Sunday this year, um, Jesus

8:38will be our explicit focus. Every Sunday

8:41this year, Jesus will be the message.

8:44Every Sunday this year, Jesus will be

8:47proclaimed. Every Sunday this year, WE

8:50WILL LOOK AT Jesus and marvel at Jesus

8:52and be in awe of Jesus and peep Jesus

8:56AND WONDER ABOUT JESUS AND SCRATCH OUR

8:58HEADS AROUND JESUS AND LEARN TO LIKE

9:01JESUS AND LOVE JESUS and surrender to

9:04Jesus and be tight with Jesus AND BE

9:06EMPOWERED BY JESUS.

9:0952 weeks of Jesus.

9:13[Applause]

9:17All Jesus.

9:19We ain't going nowhere else. I said the

9:22king is here.

9:27Never been done before.

9:29Don't know what God is going to do.

9:32But every Sunday this year, the message

9:34is Jesus.

9:36So you going to camp out in one book for

9:38the whole year? Yes.

9:41Really? One whole year in a book? Yes.

9:47Oh, they going to get bored. We're going

9:49to see.

9:53We're going to find out.

9:56Oh, it ain't never been done before in

9:57Atlanta. We about to find out.

10:00Yes, sir.

10:01You tell everybody. WE'RE GOING TO BE

10:02CAMPED OUT IN ONE BOOK for a year. for

10:05Jesus until December 31st.

10:09Spread the word. It's about to get real

10:11in here. Spread the word.

10:16This first series is focused on Matthew

10:19chapters 1-4. Okay. Who was Matthew?

10:26Why was his book so important?

10:29Why are we camping out in this book?

10:31Before I talk about this Matthew, I want

10:33to shout out to one of my best friends

10:34in 30 years. Another Matthew in the

10:36room. MG the mortgage guy. Shout out to

10:39my brother in the room.

10:42Um the most influential mortgage loan

10:46officer in the nation. Uh if you're

10:48looking for a crib, MG the mortgage guy

10:50on everything. Been rocking with that

10:52dude since we was in the streets of 12

10:55shooting and selling dope. And uh

11:01God has been very good to both of us.

11:05[Music]

11:07But this Matthew

11:10[Music]

11:16yo

11:17yo yo

11:22[Music]

11:24we shouldn't be here today.

11:27But this Matthew, who was he? Why didn't

11:30he write this book? Why is the book he

11:33wrote so important? This Matthew who I'm

11:36going to be talking about uh was a Jew

11:38who lived in the first century AD. Uh he

11:42was a man unfortunately was a very

11:44corrupt man. He worked as a

11:47subcontractor

11:48for the government of Rome at one time

11:51the most powerful nation on earth. that

11:53ruled the world for 1500 years from

11:55Africa to India. Matthew had a job as a

11:58subcontractor working for the IRS for

12:01the government of Rome as a tax

12:04collector. So he was responsible for

12:06collecting taxes from the Jewish people.

12:10And most of the tax collectors of his

12:12days were very corrupt men. So they will

12:14overcharge people on their taxes. They

12:17will pay Rome what was owed them and

12:19they will pocket the rest. This Matthew

12:22who we going to be talking about because

12:24he was corrupt enriched himself as a tax

12:27collector. He was an extremely wealthy

12:29man.

12:31Dope crib, dope clothes, dope shoes,

12:35cologne. He had all the accutrants of

12:38what the average person did not have in

12:40his day. As a Jewish tax collector, not

12:43only was he wealthy, but men in those

12:45days who were tax collectors were

12:47despised by their own people. So he was

12:50unloved.

12:52He was unliked. Listen to me. He was

12:55hated. He probably had no friends, no

12:59social equity. Parents probably was

13:02disconnected from him. Probably had no

13:04girlfriend. To history's knowledge, he

13:06had no wife. He was single. We don't

13:08know if he ever had a female mate. He

13:11was despised by the people around him.

13:13probably lonely, a loner, an outcast, a

13:17person who would come into a room full

13:18of people and still feel isolated. You

13:21know what it feels like to be in a room

13:22and feel lonely?

13:28But Jesus one day was walking by

13:30Matthew's office. He looked Matthew in

13:33the eyes and he said, "Matthew, I want

13:36you to follow me."

13:38And from his own record, he heard the

13:40words of Jesus. He left everything in

13:42that tax booth and he followed the Lord

13:45Jesus Christ. A decision that changed

13:48his life forever, changed his legacy.

13:51Because of that, we're talking about him

13:53some 2,000 years later. I wonder where

13:56Matthew would be had he not made that

13:58decision to follow Jesus. We don't know.

14:01But his life was changed. A former

14:03outcast as a Jew wrote the one gospel

14:07that's dedicated to Jews. that God has a

14:10great sense of humor. He took a outcast

14:12Jew and made an outcast Jew write the

14:15only gospel dedicated to Jews.

14:20Cuz God knows how to take the foolish

14:22things of the world,

14:23the things that people think can't be

14:25done, and use it to make people

14:27confused. How could God take an outcast

14:30Jew

14:31and use them to write the only gospel

14:33dedicated to Jews?

14:37And so although the book is actually

14:39anonymous, Matthew is credited with

14:42writing the book, the authorship around

14:44the year AD55 or AD60.

14:49It is the second of four gospels that

14:52was written, the first gospel that was

14:53ever recorded, the narratives of Jesus

14:55Christ. In this book, we have preserved

14:58for us four narratives of Jesus Christ.

15:01Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Mark was

15:03written first.

15:05Matthew was written second, taking some

15:07of Mark's works and expounding on it.

15:11When we look at Mark's gospel, we see

15:13Jesus as a servant. So, he's pictured as

15:16an ox in biblical literature.

15:20In Matthew's gospel, we see Jesus as a a

15:23coming king. So, he's pictured like a

15:26lion in biblical literature. In John's

15:29gospel, he's pictured as the vine or the

15:32son of God. So we see uh ego in biblical

15:35literature and in Luke's gospel he's

15:37called the son of man. So we see the

15:39picture of a faith showing that he was

15:41human. He understood the things we go

15:43through. He had problems. He had

15:44challenges. He can he has felt

15:46everything that you felt.

15:50But it is Matthew's gospel among the

15:52four. It is the longest gospel, the most

15:55detailed gospel cuz as a tax collector,

15:58Matthew was trained in recordkeeping and

16:00he was a skilled writer. It is the

16:03gospel that the church used for 1,700

16:07years as the primary text for

16:09instruction and disciplehip.

16:11Jesus,

16:12now this makes sense to you.

16:14Let me let me repeat this. Matthew's

16:16gospel was the document that the church

16:19used for 1700 years as the chief

16:24document for disciplehip of followers of

16:27Jesus. So if they wanted to ground

16:30people in the faith for 1,700

16:33years they used the book of Matthew to

16:36to to create for people watch this a

16:38firm foundation.

16:411,700 years they use the book of Matthew

16:44as their primary document.

16:46So for us, we're going to use Matthew

16:48for one year to lay a brand new

16:50foundation in our church.

16:57For one whole year,

17:00you're going to look back on this year

17:02AND I PROMISE YOU, YOUR life is going to

17:03be radically changed.

17:05You'll never be the same after this

17:07year. Pastor Phillip, you're whing out.

17:10Yes, I'm whing all the way out.

17:13We're going to document that the church

17:15used for 1700 years to create a new

17:19foundation for our church.

17:23Not that we had a bad one, but we're

17:25about to have a greater one.

17:26Yes, sir.

17:31We're going to explore the teachings of

17:32Jesus that leads us into human

17:34flourishing, better relationships, how

17:37to do business, how to do marriage, how

17:39to handle money,

17:41how to handle problems,

17:44we're going to get teachings going to

17:45teach you how to flourish in life. It's

17:47going to give you awareness of the

17:48kingdom you belong to,

17:50that you are a citizen of America and a

17:52citizen of a greater kingdom. Yes.

17:57It's going to raise your awareness of

17:58that kingdom, solidify your identity so

18:01you're not confused about who you are.

18:04It's going to embolden you in the area

18:06of mission. You're going to know that

18:07you you exist for a purpose.

18:11You can't read this book or study this

18:12book and not be changed. Your life will

18:15be transformed. So, I want to open up

18:17the book with this first message titled

18:21A Royal and Ratchet Family Tree.

18:24Yes, sir.

18:26[Music]

18:28Oh, yeah.

18:30We're going to start our teaching

18:31through Matthew with this first message

18:33called A Royal and Ratchet

18:36Family Tree.

18:38[Music]

18:40A lot of us can we could just sit right

18:41there like that's me right there.

18:45Ain't

18:46anybody

18:47a royal and ratchet.

18:50Yes, sir.

18:52Family tree.

18:56Spirit of the living God.

18:59We feel your presence in the room

19:02and in the chat.

19:04Walking the aisles and the roads. We

19:06feel you like the hairs on the back of

19:07our neck.

19:08Yes, Lord.

19:09We know that you are alive and that you

19:10are present in the room.

19:12Help me this weak vessel teach the truth

19:16of this eternal word to display the

19:20glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. Help me

19:23Holy Spirit to teach

19:26in Jesus name I pray.

19:28Jesus name.

19:28Amen.

19:29Amen.

19:30First message in the series one year

19:32through Matthew a royal and ratchet

19:37family tree.

19:41Uh if you got kids in this room, it

19:43there's going to be some parts of this

19:44message that's going to go beyond PG.

19:46That's why we got a children's church.

19:48So I don't tell I gave you a disclaimer.

19:51Don't send me no DM or no emails.

19:55It's a part of this message is going to

19:56go beyond PG. Uh family, I I just want

20:00to start, you know, with some honesty

20:01from the very jump that as I was

20:04thinking about this message, I thought

20:05to myself that, you know, I've never met

20:07a forwardthinking person that did not

20:10like the word new.

20:14Now, I know some people that are stuck

20:15in tradition and stuck in all ways and

20:18they don't want to move on for where

20:19they are. But I personally have never

20:21met a forwardthinking person that did

20:24not like the word new.

20:26Consequently, most of us are attracted

20:29naturally drawn with some sense of

20:31excitement and anticipation when we hear

20:34the word new or whenever we see

20:36something that's tagged with the word

20:38new. A new idea creates excitement and

20:41anticipation. A new business creates

20:44excitement and anticipation. A new

20:46ministry creates excitement and

20:49anticipation. A new name, hala,

20:52creates excitement and anticipation. A

20:54new boo, a new spouse, a new boyfriend

20:56or girlfriend creates some measure of

20:58excitement and anticipation. However,

21:01one of the greatest anchors for the

21:04emergence of anything that is new is the

21:07necessity for the case of its

21:09legitimacy.

21:13Let me repeat myself

21:15that although we get excited about

21:17things that are new, one of the most

21:19important anchors to be attached to

21:21anything that is new is the anchor for

21:24the legitimacy of the thing that is new.

21:28Whenever something emerges that IS NEW,

21:30WE ASK OURSELVES QUESTIONS. IS THIS FOR

21:32REAL?

21:33Are they for real? Are they capping? Or

21:37are they keeping it real? Yeah.

21:39WHEN A NEW PRODUCT COMES TO MARKET,

21:41investors want to know, is the product

21:43for real?

21:44Yeah.

21:45When a new business comes to market,

21:47angel investors and venture capitalists

21:49want to know, is this is this new

21:51company for real? Can we invest in this

21:54new company? When a startup company is

21:57seeking its first rounds of investments,

21:59man, investors want to know, man, is

22:02this company real? Is it legitimate? Is

22:05it going to last?

22:09When a man or woman pops up with a new

22:11ministry, people always want to know,

22:12are they legitimate? Is the company

22:14legitimate? Is the new brand legitimate?

22:17Is this new company? Is this new idea?

22:19Is it legitimate? We know that it is

22:21new, but is it legitimate? We know it is

22:24new, but watch this. Can it be trusted?

22:30Right?

22:38When a luminary figure emerges with

22:40claims

22:41that the world has never heard before,

22:44there's naturally going to be

22:45speculation around the legitimacy of

22:47that figure.

22:49So when the so so the greatest thing

22:51that can happen for the argument of

22:54legitimacy is not when a person argues

22:56about their own legitimacy but one of

22:58the greatest things that can anchor

23:00legitimacy is when other people argue

23:02for the legitimacy of another person.

23:07This is why when WE WRITE NEW BOOKS, WE

23:09ALWAYS SEEK OUT PEOPLE TO GIVE US a

23:10review. So we throw 10 people on the

23:12back of our new book AND WHAT ARE WE

23:14ASKING THEM TO DO? WE'RE ASKING THEM TO

23:16LEGITIMIZE THE OFFER THAT WHAT THEY'RE

23:19telling us, watch, can be trusted.

23:22So, ONE OF THE GREATEST ARGUMENTS for

23:24legitimacy is not what comes out of the

23:26mouth of the person who is new.

23:28Wow.

23:29But one of the greatest arguments for

23:31legitimacy is what comes out of the

23:32mouths of OTHER PEOPLE WHO ESTABLISH the

23:35legitimacy of another person. YO, THAT

23:37PERSON RIGHT THERE, THEY'RE FOR REAL. OR

23:39THAT DUDE RIGHT THERE, HE'S FOR REAL. OR

23:41SHORTY right there, SHE'S FOR REAL. OR

23:43THAT BROTHER RIGHT THERE, MAN, HE'S FOR

23:45REAL. IT'S WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SAY often

23:47times is the best anchor for the

23:49legitimacy of somebody else. YOU CAN

23:51TALK A GOOD GAME ABOUT YOU, BUT WHAT

23:53DOES OTHER people say about you?

23:58Good.

24:01You can tell me THE IPHONE IS DOPE, BUT

24:03WHAT DOES OTHER PEOPLE say about the

24:04iPhone

24:05that it's better than Android? Amen.

24:08And if you're smart and saved, you got

24:09an iPhone

24:11that we rebuke people that turn the

24:12group chat green.

24:17[Applause]

24:22The market has spoken. Apple is the best

24:25phone on the market.

24:27It is legitimate.

24:29WE DON'T CARE WHAT Apple has to say.

24:31What does the people have to say about

24:33the product?

24:36TRIPLEA AIN'T DOPE BECAUSE IT'S DOPE.

24:38IT'S DOPE BECAUSE WE SAY IT IS.

24:42YES, SIR.

24:46SO, one of the BEST THINGS TO ESTABLISH

24:48LEGITIMACY IS NOT WHAT COMES OUT OF THE

24:50MOUTH OF THE PERSON THAT'S ARGUING. IT'S

24:52what's coming out of the mouths of other

24:53people that's arguing for the legitimacy

24:55of the person that emerged.

25:00In the first century AD, a slim Galilean

25:03came walking over a Judean countryside

25:06claiming to be the son of God,

25:12claiming to be the long awaited Jewish

25:15Messiah,

25:17claiming to be the embodiment of all of

25:19the Old Testament prophecies,

25:22claiming to be the one that people WERE

25:24TALKING ABOUT FOR THOUSANDS of years,

25:28claiming to be the fulfillment ment of

25:30everything from the Old Testament. He

25:32came claiming to establish a kingdom

25:35that was going to last forever.

25:37He came claiming to be this person who

25:40died in the first century AD, the son of

25:42God. Now, Matthew in the first century

25:46was an eyewitness of that person. He was

25:50friends with that person for three and a

25:52half years. Traveled with that person

25:55for three and a half years. Ate food

25:57with that person for three and a half

25:58years. broke bread with that person for

26:00three and a half years, moved around the

26:03country with that person for three and a

26:04half years, laughed with that person,

26:06joked with that person, LISTENED TO THAT

26:08PERSON, SAW THAT PERSON FOR THREE AND A

26:10half years. Matthew around the year AD60

26:14is a old man. It's 30 years after the

26:16death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

26:19MATTHEW NOW IS LOOKING BACK OVER HIS

26:21LIFE. HE'S THINKING ABOUT everything he

26:23saw, everything he heard. He's thinking

26:26ABOUT WHEN JESUS RAISED a man from the

26:29dead.

26:29He's thinking ABOUT WHEN JESUS TOUCHED

26:31EYES AND MADE PEOPLE WHO are blind to

26:33see.

26:34He's thinking about when Jesus touched

26:36people's ears and made them. SO, HE'S

26:37LOOKING BACK AT ALL OF THE MIRACLES, all

26:40of the teachings, all of the things that

26:42Jesus did. AND HE'S THINKING TO HIMSELF,

26:44MAN, TRULY THIS DUDE WHO I WAS RUNNING

26:46WITH for three and a half years, HE WAS

26:48NOT JUST A prophet

26:50like Muhammad or Confucious OR JOSEPH

26:53SMITH. HE WAS NOT JUST AN ORDINARY MAN.

26:56SOMETHING WAS DIFFERENT ABOUT THIS DUDE

26:57THAT I WAS RUNNING WITH FOR THREE AND A

26:59HALF YEARS. I GOT TO SIT DOWN AND TELL A

27:01STORY ABOUT HIM. WOW.

27:04So in the year AD60 OR 65, MATTHEW AS A

27:07OLD MAN BEFORE he was beheaded,

27:11martyed for what he believed and saw,

27:14sat down and he took a pen to parchment

27:17and he began to write WHAT BECAME THE

27:19BOOK OF MATTHEW, his narrative about the

27:23life of the person of Jesus Christ.

27:29And in his attempt, oh my God,

27:32to convince Jewish people,

27:36THAT THE PERSON Y'ALL BEEN WRITING ABOUT

27:39FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS ACTUALLY came and

27:42YOU REJECTED HIM LIKE HE WAS A SUCKER.

27:45Oh my god.

27:46Matthew, a Jew, NOW WANTED TO CONVINCE

27:49JEWISH PEOPLE THAT THE MAN y'all been

27:52talking about for generations actually

27:54came and lived and taught and died and

27:58rose

27:59and is still alive

28:03and is directing the course of history.

28:06That man that y'all rejected, I want to

28:08reintroduce you to that man since y'all

28:11rejected him. So, Matthew takes a pen

28:13and parchment in the year AD60 or 65, a

28:17few years before he was beheaded, and he

28:19writes the book of Matthew. And listen,

28:21watch how he starts the book of Matthew

28:25to Jewish people. Matthew chapter 1

28:29verse one,

28:32the book of the genealogy

28:36of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the

28:40son of Abraham.

28:42Pause. Now, nobody in this room got

28:45excited

28:46cuz most of y'all are black.

28:53I'm going somewhere with this.

28:54So, so we in the room. We here. We hear

28:56we hear the beginning of the GENEALOGY

28:59OF JESUS CHRIST, the son of Abraham,

29:02the son of David. And we say, "All

29:04right, cool."

29:05BUT IF A JEW HEARD THAT, THEY WOULD HAVE

29:07BEEN LIKE, "WHOA, WHOA, WHOA, WHOA,

29:08WHOA.

29:09THE SON OF ABRAHAM,

29:12the son of David,

29:14KING OF KINGS,

29:15THE BEGINNING OF THE GENEALOGY OF JESUS

29:17CHRIST." WHOA, WHOA, WHOA. MATTHEW, YOU

29:19YOU GOT TO PROVE THAT TO US. MATTHEW,

29:21YOU SAYING SOME REALLY OUTLANDISH STUFF

29:24RIGHT NOW. LORD JESUS,

29:26YOU'RE TRYING TO TELL ME THIS JEW WHO

29:27CAME WAS THE SON OF Abraham

29:30and the son of David

29:32AND THAT WHAT YOU'RE ABOUT TO WRITE TO

29:33ME IS THE BEGINNING OF HIS family tree.

29:37Genealogy means family tree like

29:39ancestor.com.

29:44THE PURPOSE OF A GENEALOGY IS TO TRACE

29:47LINEAGE BACK TO ANCESTORS.

29:50THE PURPOSE OF A GENEALOGY IS TO

29:52ESTABLISH BIRTHIGHT. Yes sir.

29:57Yes sir.

29:58THE PURPOSE OF A GENEALOGY IS TO SAY YOU

30:01HAVE OWNERSHIP and inheritance.

30:05IN THE DAYS OF JESUS, IF YOU WANTED TO

30:07BE A A A PRIEST OR PASTOR, YOU NEEDED TO

30:10PRODUCE AN ACCURATE GENEALOGY LINKING

30:12YOU ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE tribe of

30:14Levi.

30:15IF YOU WANTED TO OWN LAND CUZ SOMEBODY

30:18DIED, YOU NEEDED TO PRODUCE A GENEALOGY

30:20TO SAY THIS LAND BELONGS TO ME. YOU

30:22CAN'T ROLL UP ON SOMEBODY SAY, "Give me

30:24that land." No. Produce the genealogy.

30:28YES, SIR.

30:29SOMEBODY DIED. YOU WANTED THE

30:30INHERITANCE. YOU COULDN'T CLAIM that

30:32inheritance. You had to produce a

30:33genealogy SAYING YOU ARE THE RIGHTFUL

30:36OWNER OF THAT INHERITANCE.

30:41SO, genealogies were necessary to prove

30:43ownership and inheritance. And the

30:45scriptures are littered with genealogy.

30:48The longest one in 1 Chronicles almost

30:50nine chapters. Yes, sir.

30:53Now, why is this important? Because in

30:56the Old Testament days, hundreds of

30:58years before Christ came into their

31:00world, the last prophet who ever

31:03preached was not Philillip, but a man I

31:05named my son after named Malachi.

31:09Malachi was preaching hundreds of years

31:11before Jesus was born. And his primary

31:13message was honor. He was speaking on

31:16behalf of God. Oh, y'all people, if I'm

31:18a father, where is the honor? Do me. Put

31:21some respect on my name.

31:23That was Matthew. So that was Malachi's

31:25whole message from God through the

31:26people. If I'm a father, put some

31:28respect on my name. Watch. Honor me. So

31:31his whole message was to God's people

31:33and to the priest, show me some respect.

31:36Show me some honor. Now watch this. How

31:38important is honor to God? After Matthew

31:41died, God didn't say another word in the

31:43earth for 400 years.

31:47I'm going somewhere with this. After

31:50Malachi died and his ministry was over,

31:53God didn't say another word in world

31:57history for 400

32:00years.

32:02So in your Bible, WHEN YOU FLIP FROM

32:04MALACHI TO MATTHEW, THAT LITTLE WHITE

32:06PAGE is 400 years of silence

32:10in which in world history, God said

32:12nothing in the earth. HE DIDN'T SEND A

32:14PROPHET. He didn't send a a preach. He

32:16didn't send a minister. He ain't said NO

32:18ONE. FOR 400 YEARS, GOD SHUT HIS MOUTH

32:21on humanity. He said nothing.

32:26Y'all going to think about honor for 400

32:28years.

32:31Jesus.

32:37He goes silent for 400 years. During

32:40those 400 years, three world empires

32:43fight for dominance. By the time the 400

32:45years is done, Rome has emerged as the

32:49world empire. Check your you go outside

32:51the Bible, Google. Rome emerges as the

32:54world, watch this as the world empire

32:57during those 400 years. Rome rules for

33:001500 years from India to Africa.

33:03Rome gives people modern technology.

33:06They create roads and streets, watch

33:09this, and mail systems to make messages

33:12travel easy. God,

33:17THEY DOMINATE THE WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD.

33:20They create provinces around the whole

33:22world and they create systems for any

33:24message to travel the whole world with

33:26ease.

33:33God who gave A DREAM TO A MAN NAMED

33:36DANIEL SAW IN a vision THE SUCCESSION OF

33:38WORLD EMPIRES. ROME BEING IN THAT DREAM

33:41THAT GOD SHOWED A MAN A DREAM THAT ROME

33:43WOULD DOMINATE THE WHOLE WORLD BECAUSE

33:45THE BIBLE IS NOT JUST A RELIGIOUS BOOK.

33:46IT'S FULL OF PROPHECIES that have come

33:48to pass.

33:49IT IS THE ONLY ACCURATE RELIGIOUS BOOK,

33:51BUT PROPHECIES that have come to pass.

33:54Not the PEARL OF GREAT PRICE, NOT THE

33:55QURAN, not anything you got from Google,

33:58the word and the word of God only

34:01has prophecies THAT HAVE ACCURATELY COME

34:03TO PASS. GOD GAVE A MAN NAMED DANIEL A

34:05VISION OF A OF A OF A STATUE AND PART OF

34:08THE STATUE HAD THE EMPIRE OF ROME. NOW

34:10ROME has come to pass. Rome creates all

34:13of the things that are necessary for the

34:15gospel to spread.

34:22God is a He's the best chess player of

34:24all time.

34:25[Music]

34:27He's the best chess player of all time.

34:30how he moves the pieces of things around

34:32the world to bring about his purposes

34:33and his will. Want to make sure by the

34:35time his son emerged, message of him can

34:38travel around the whole world.

34:46So Matthew's open line, look at

34:48Matthew's open line. It says in Matthew

34:49chapter 1, the beginning of the

34:51genealogy of Jesus Christ. Now pause.

34:54You read this in English and all you see

34:57is the word genealogy. But this word

35:00genealogy in Greek is the same Hebrew

35:03word that we have for the English word

35:04Genesis

35:08which means the beginning.

35:11Another word we get is new thing.

35:16So what is Matthew SAYING? HE'S NOT ONLY

35:18ABOUT TO INTRODUCE Jesus family tree but

35:21he's telling Jews watch after 400 years

35:23of silence a new thing has dawned. A new

35:27thing has come into the world. A new

35:30kingdom has COME INTO THE WORLD.

35:32SOMETHING CATACLYSMIC HAS HAPPENED THAT

35:34IS SO NEW IT'S ABOUT TO CHANGE

35:36EVERYTHING FOREVER. THIS IS THE BEST

35:39brand new thing ever the world has ever

35:42known. He's not saying here is just a

35:44family tree of Jesus. Here is the

35:46beginning of something brand new.

35:48Something y'all been waiting for for

35:50thousands of years. Something that's

35:51going to topple every other kingdom in

35:53the end. Yeah.

35:55So this in Hebrew in GREEK REALLY SAYS

35:57THE GENESIS OF JESUS or his kingdom. Not

36:01that he's a created being but the

36:03beginning of his rule forever.

36:06So Matthew INTRODUCES GOD'S kingdom

36:09through Christ as a new beginning. Here

36:13is the kingdom of heaven coming new to

36:16the kingdom of earth. A spiritual

36:18kingdom that would eventually dominate

36:20the whole world in the end. It is the

36:23beginning of the reign of a brand new

36:25king. He's going to rule forever. Watch.

36:28You all who are saved are citizens of

36:31that kingdom.

36:33Let me let me let me talk to you for a

36:34second since you're so confused about

36:36your identity. Every once who's placed

36:38their faith in JESUS CHRIST, YOU'RE NOT

36:41only a citizen of the country you were

36:42born in, you're a citizen of the

36:44kingdom. Yeah,

36:46Matthew's gospel teaches us about the

36:48laws and the principles and the

36:50government and the economy of that

36:52kingdom. SOME OF YOU ARE NOT FLOURISHING

36:54because you don't understand the kingdom

36:55you live in.

36:57[Applause]

36:59SOME OF YOU ARE STRUGGLING REALLY BAD

37:00BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO WORK THE

37:02PRINCIPLES of the kingdom you live in.

37:05Some of YOU ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT YOUR

37:07LIFESTYLE BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO

37:09OPERATE THE ECONOMY OF THE KINGDOM YOU

37:11LIVE IN.

37:12You can't go to another country and

37:14don't understand their laws, their

37:16customs, their currency. You would get

37:18locked up.

37:23You can't travel to the Netherlands and

37:25act like an American.

37:27If you don't work their laws and

37:28principles, you're not going to

37:29flourish.

37:30In the same way, all of you WHO ARE

37:32SAVED, YOU'VE BEEN NOT ONLY SAVED OUT OF

37:34THE WORLD OR saved from hell and

37:36damnation, you've been saved into a

37:38kingdom. And if you don't understand the

37:40king and the kingdom you belong to, you

37:42won't know how to work the laws and the

37:44principles of the kingdom. Some of you

37:46are complaining, not knowing if you just

37:48tweak one principle, something in your

37:50life will change.

37:53If you don't know the principles, you

37:54don't know how to work them. If you

37:55don't KNOW THE LAWS, YOU DON'T KNOW HOW

37:56TO WORK THEM. If you don't KNOW THE

37:58REGULATIONS, YOU KNOW HOW TO WORK THEM.

37:59If you don't know what was promised to

38:00you, you won't know how to claim it.

38:06THAT'S LIKE YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT BEING

38:07IMPOVERISHED, BUT YOU GOT AN INHERITANCE

38:09IN THE BANK, BUT don't know how to use

38:11the ATM card because you don't read.

38:13Jesus,

38:16you don't read. YOU DON'T KNOW YOUR

38:17CONTRACT, SO YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT'S

38:19AVAILABLE TO YOU.

38:23MAN, who am I talking to?

38:25YOU DON'T READ THE CONTRACT, SO YOU

38:26DON'T KNOW WHAT'S AVAILABLE TO YOU.

38:29My God,

38:31help us, Lord.

38:33Yes, sir.

38:35Wow.

38:36You don't KNOW WHAT TO CLAIM CUZ YOU

38:38AIN'T READ THE CONTRACT.

38:40YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIGHT CUZ YOU

38:41AIN'T READ THE CONTRACT.

38:43YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU CAN MAKE A

38:44DEMAND ON CUZ YOU AIN'T READ THE

38:46CONTRACT.

38:47YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO YOUR SAVIOR

38:48REALLY IS CUZ YOU AIN'T READ THE

38:50CONTRACT.

38:51JESUS.

38:55You don't even know THE KIND OF FORCE

38:56YOU GOT BEHIND YOU CUZ YOU AIN'T NEVER

38:58READ THE CONTRACT.

39:00YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU

39:01PRAY CUZ YOU AIN'T READ THE CONTRACT.

39:03YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU

39:05FAST CUZ YOU AIN'T READ THE CONTRACT.

39:07YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO WORK YOUR MONEY

39:09CUZ YOU AIN'T READ THE CONTRACT.

39:14You ain't know how You don't know how to

39:15discern a good business partner from a

39:17bad business partner cuz you ain't read

39:19the contract.

39:25So you keep getting SHAFTED CUZ YOU

39:27DON'T HAVE NO DISCERNMENT when you walk

39:28in a room cuz you ain't NEVER READ THE

39:30CONTRACT. YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW YOU FULL

39:32OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. THE PERSON THAT

39:33KNOWS EVERYTHING.

39:36[Applause]

39:39YOU INDWELLED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT, THE

39:41PERSON THAT KNOWS EVERYTHING. BUT YOU

39:43DON'T KNOW HOW TO WORK YOUR SIX SENSE

39:44CUZ YOU AIN'T READ YOUR CONTRACT.

39:51SO, how'd you know not to sign that

39:53deal? Because I know my contract.

39:57That's why because of my contract.

39:59Watch. I already know what to say no to

40:01before I walk into a room.

40:03My nose already predetermined because I

40:05know the contract.

40:08I got standards because I know the

40:10contract.

40:11I know what TO ACCEPT AND WHAT NOT TO

40:13PUT UP WITH because I know the contract.

40:16[Applause]

40:23No, they want they don't want me to

40:24teach. Let me let me finish.

40:27They don't they don't want me to teach.

40:33Thank you. I'm going to try, sister. Let

40:34me

40:39So when you understand the contract, you

40:41know how to work the principles, you you

40:42acquire what's called human flourishing.

40:45Yeah.

40:46So now watch what Matthew does. I'm

40:47almost done. He tags three titles to

40:49Jesus. First he calls him the Christ. So

40:53not only he said a new thing is coming,

40:54but he gives him three tiles. Three

40:56titles. He calls him number one. He

40:58calls him the Christ.

41:00The word CHRIST IS NOT JESUS LAST NAME.

41:03It's not like PHILIP ANTHONY MITCHELL.

41:05HIS LAST NAME IS NOT CHRIST.

41:08HE WAS JESUS FROM NAZARETH. HE HAD NO

41:10LAST NAME. The word Christ is the Greek

41:12word for THE HEBREW WORD MESSIAH, WHICH

41:15MEANS THE ANOINTED ONE,

41:18THE PROMISED ONE, THE one who WAS SPOKEN

41:20OF FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS THROUGH THE

41:22OLD TESTAMENT.

41:25SEE, the world is FILLED WITH MULTIPLE

41:27RELIGIONS. BUT MATTHEW IS SAYING, WATCH,

41:30THERE'S ONLY ONE GOD. HE HAS ONLY ONE

41:32SON AND THERE IS ONLY ONE ETERNAL

41:34KINGDOM. AND HE IS THE MAN.

41:37He is not a Christ. HE IS DEFINITIVE

41:40ARTICLE THE CHRIST.

41:46Let me go over here. MATTHEW SAYING I

41:49KNOW THERE'S MULTIPLE RELIGIONS IN THE

41:51WORLD. IT DON'T MATTER HOW MANY

41:52RELIGIONS THERE ARE. MATTHEW'S TRYING TO

41:54SAY THERE'S ONLY ONE GOD. He has only

41:57one son. THERE'S ONLY ONE ROAD TO

42:00HEAVEN. AND HE IS JESUS THE CHRIST. NOT

42:03A CHRIST. The Christ.

42:06[Applause]

42:08THE DEFINITIVE ARTICLE.

42:10YES, SIR.

42:12JESUS.

42:14HALLELUJAH.

42:16So he calls him Jesus Christ. Jesus the

42:20Messiah. JESUS THE ANOINTED ONE. THE

42:23SECOND TAG HE GIVES TO HIM. HE CALLS HIM

42:25THE SON of Abraham.

42:27NOW WE NOT JEWISH, BUT WHY IS THIS SO

42:29IMPORTANT? Abraham was the father of the

42:31Jewish nation. YES, SIR.

42:32THE PROGENITOR OF THE JEWS. WATCH. God

42:36gave Abraham a promise in his lifetime.

42:38He said,"Abraham, I'm going to give you

42:41a son. Not the biological boys you have.

42:44Another son is coming in your lineage."

42:46Watch. And through him and him only,

42:49every person on the planet can and will

42:51be blessed.

42:53Now, bad preachers take that line and

42:55they make it prosperity gospel to say if

42:57you sow a seed, God is going to make you

42:59rich. Lies.

43:02When when God said to Abraham, "Through

43:03him, all of the nations of the world

43:05will be blessed." THAT IS THROUGH THE

43:07SON I'M GOING TO GIVE YOU, ABRAHAM,

43:09every human being will have a chance to

43:12enter into my kingdom,

43:14be blessed by my principles and then

43:16live with me in heaven and in glory

43:18forever through him and him only.

43:21Everyone has the opportunity

43:24to BE BLESSED.

43:26SO GOD PROMISED Abraham a son through

43:31which that son would be the Messiah to

43:35bless the whole world. MATTHEW SAYS TO

43:37ALL YOU JEWS, Jesus is the son of

43:39Abraham.

43:40He is the one that's been promised.

43:42Yes, sir.

43:44Then Matthew GIVES HIM ANOTHER TITLE. HE

43:46SAYS HE IS THE SON of David. Yeah.

43:49To a Jew, THEY WILL UNDERSTAND DAVID WAS

43:52the greatest

43:54history of Israel.

43:56David was the greatest king in the

43:59history of Israel. Now watch.

44:02God gave David a promise in his

44:04lifetime.

44:05He said, "David,

44:06you rule right now."

44:08Watch. But when you die, a person is

44:11coming through your lineage.

44:14Watch this. He's going to sit on your

44:15throne.

44:17Watch. And of his kingdom there will be

44:20no end.

44:21Yes.

44:23Now watch. David had a son named

44:25Solomon. He died.

44:28And Solomon had a son.

44:30He died.

44:32And that son had a son. He died. AND

44:34THEN THEY DIED. AND THEN THEY ALL DIED.

44:37BUT ONE SON CAME THROUGH THAT LINEAGE

44:44WHO IS NOT DEAD BUT alive

44:48who called HIMSELF THE KING OF KINGS AND

44:51THE LORD OF LORDS. AND ISAIAH SAID OF

44:56HIS kingdom there will be no end.

45:01SO, MATTHEW WRITES TO THIS JEWISH

45:03AUDIENCE, THAT MAN THAT ISAIAH TOLD US

45:05ABOUT 700 YEARS AGO, it was Jesus

45:09is the son of David, the king who will

45:12rule

45:14forever.

45:17How about that for starting a family

45:18tree?

45:21That's a GANGSTER WAY TO START A family

45:23tree.

45:26Now, let's finish up. Okay, then he goes

45:28on to verse two. Pause. Let me just say

45:31this. If you missed the principle of the

45:33text,

45:35the gem is God keeps his promises.

45:40If he said it,

45:41he's going to do it.

45:44He don't lie.

45:46So if there's anybody who's legitimate,

45:49it's God Almighty.

45:51Now, let's finish up.

45:53Verse 2 through 17. That's how you start

45:56a family tree. Now, he goes on with the

45:58rest of the family tree. Watch. royal

45:59and ratchet. Then he says, "Abraham was

46:02the father of Isaac." Y'all know

46:03Abraham?

46:04He had a son named Isaac who he waited

46:0625 years for.

46:08And Isaac was the father of Jacob. Jacob

46:10who was a corrupt dude. So corrupt God

46:12had to change his name to Israel.

46:14And Jacob was the father of Judah, who

46:16was a womanizer. You're going to see why

46:18I'm doing this.

46:20Talk about your family. What about

46:21Jesus' family?

46:26[Applause]

46:30Talk about your family. SEE, YOUR PAST

46:32AIN'T GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR

46:33FUTURE.

46:38Your

46:43your past DON'T GOT TO HINDER YOUR

46:45FUTURE.

46:46I DON'T CARE WHERE YOU CAME FROM. I

46:48DON'T CARE IF YOU'RE THE PRODUCT OF A

46:50BOTTLE OF HENNESSY AND A BROKEN CONDOM.

46:52YOUR PAST DON'T HAVE TO HINDER YOUR

46:54FUTURE.

46:57MY FATHER WAS A BALL OF Hennessy and my

46:58mother WAS A BROKEN CONDOM. IT DON'T

47:00MATTER.

47:01IT DON'T GOT TO HINDER YOUR FUTURE.

47:03JESUS.

47:06All right. Abraham who WAS A LIAR AND

47:09THE FATHER OF ISAAC. Isaac the father of

47:11Jacob WHO WAS SO CORRUPT GOD had to

47:13change HIS NAME. JACOB THE FATHER OF

47:15JUDAH WHO WAS A WOMANIZER.

47:19JUDAH WAS THE FATHER OF PEREZ AND ZERA

47:21by Tamar. Wait till I come back to that.

47:23And Perez, the father of Hisron, and

47:25Hisron, the father of Ram. And Ram, the

47:28father of Aminadab, AND AMINADAB, THE

47:30father of Nan. And Nan, the father of

47:32Salmon. Not salmon. Salmon.

47:43No. Salmon and white wine. Salmon

47:47was the father of Simon was the father

47:50of Boaz by Rahab, a prostitute.

47:54[Music]

47:56[Applause]

47:58Talk about your family. SOLOMON WAS THE

48:01FATHER OF BOAZ by Rahab, who was a [ __ ]

48:04and a prostitute.

48:06BOAZ WAS THE FATHER OF OED by Ruth. And

48:08Oed was the father of Jesse, who did not

48:10believe in his own son, David,

48:13who did not properly affirm his own son.

48:16Talk about your family. AND JESSE WAS

48:18THE FATHER OF DAVID THE KING, WHO WAS A

48:20MURDERER and an adulterer. Yeah.

48:23And David was the FATHER OF SOLOMON WHO

48:25HAD A THOUSAND WOMEN AND WENT CRAZY AT

48:27THE END OF HIS LIFE.

48:30Your family tree, right?

48:32SOLOMON BY THE WIFE OF URIAH WHO WAS

48:34MURDERED BY DAVID for his wife.

48:37Solomon was the father of Rayoboam who

48:39did HAVE WHO HAD BAD uh counselors and

48:41he listened to the wrong people.

48:43Rayoboam was the one that split the

48:44kingdom in half. He was the father of

48:46Abijah. Abijah the father of Asaf. Asaf

48:48the father of Jehoshaphat. Jehoshaphat

48:50was the father of Jorham. Jerham, the

48:52father of Uzziah, who died and because

48:54of his death, Isaiah saw the Lord. That

48:57sometimes things have to die for you to

48:58see.

49:03SOMETIMES THINGS GOT TO DIE FOR YOU TO

49:05SEE.

49:06Like I don't HAVE NO CLARITY. KILL

49:08SOMETHING AND THEN YOU MIGHT SEE BETTER.

49:11[Applause]

49:13WATCHES.

49:15And Joseph was the father of Ahaz who

49:17was evil. And he was the father of

49:19Hezekiah who was who was who was a

49:21coward king. And Hezekiah was the father

49:23of Manasseh who was wicked.

49:26Manasseh was the father of Amos. So Amos

49:28the father of Josiah who was a good man.

49:30Josiah the father of Jeconiah. Underline

49:33him. And his brothers. And at the time

49:35of the deportation of Babylon. And after

49:37the deportation of Babylon, Jeaniah was

49:39the father of Shialiel. And Shialiel was

49:41the father of Zerubabel who was a priest

49:43who helped rebuild the temple.

49:45Zerubbabel was the father of Abbehood

49:47and Abbehood was the father of Eliakim.

49:49And Eliakim was the father of Azor. Azor

49:51was the father of Zodak. Not Kodak.

49:53Zodak, not Kodak, black, Zodak. Not

49:56Bodak yellow, Zodak. And Zodc was the

49:59father of Akim. And Achim was the father

50:00of Alohood. And Alihood was the father

50:02of Eleazar.

50:04And Eleazar was the father of Matan. And

50:06Matan was the father of Jacob. And Jacob

50:08was the father of Joseph, the husband of

50:10Mary,

50:11whom was born,

50:14Jesus was born, who is called the

50:16Christ. Let me let me let me let me

50:18finish up.

50:20Thank you, daughter. So all the

50:22generations from Abraham to David were

50:2414 generations. From David to the

50:26deportation was 14 generations. And from

50:29the deportation of Babylon to the

50:30Christ, the Christ, not a Christ, the

50:34Christ was 14 generations. Now, I want

50:37to draw your attention to a few powerful

50:39elements of this genealogy, and then I'm

50:40going to be done. First, I just want you

50:43to notice the literary structure.

50:44Matthew is a genius. He creates three

50:47groups of 14 generations. Three groups

50:50of 14 people. Now, if you trace history,

50:53he excludes some people. He omits some

50:55people. So, he does not put everybody.

50:57They're not writing to create an

50:58accurate history line. They're writing,

51:00he's writing to show the important

51:02people in each three stages of Jewish

51:05history. the first stage from Abraham to

51:07David, one error. From David to the

51:10deportation, one error. From the

51:12deportation to the Christ, one error.

51:14And he fills in all of the important

51:16people in between in those errors.

51:19Okay? So, I want you to see that Matthew

51:22creates a detailed list of key people in

51:25three errors and he uses watch 14,4 and

51:2914. Consequently, David's name in Hebrew

51:32has a numeric acrostic 64 and four that

51:35if you put it together, it means 14. And

51:37David is the 14th person mentioned in

51:40the family tree.

51:41Matthew's a genius.

51:45Matthew's a genius. Also, the

51:47significance of this genealogy, he's

51:49trying to anchor Jesus all the way back

51:51to Abraham. Now, I want you to notice

51:53something of the members of the family

51:55tree. Some of them were great people

51:56like Abraham. Some of them were evil

51:59people like Manasseh. Some of them were

52:01ordinary people like Jesse. All of them

52:03had issues. Jesus did not come from a

52:06stellar family.

52:08He came from a mixed family with good

52:10people, evil people, ordinary people,

52:13unknown people, famous people. Because

52:15your family tree does not have to

52:16determine

52:18what's going to happen in your life. So

52:19if you came from a great family, listen

52:21to me. If you came from a great family,

52:23take it to the next level with your last

52:25name. And if you came from a

52:27dysfunctional family, change your

52:29generation. Change your legacy. Say,

52:32"This crap right here is going to stop

52:33with me."

52:37Now, almost finished. This is I I got to

52:40bring this to attention before I close.

52:42I want you to notice that Matthew watch

52:45writing in a patriarchal society, this

52:48is huge, mentions four women.

52:51This is abnormal because no other

52:53genealogy in the Bible mentions women.

52:55They all mention men. The father of

52:57another father, the father of another.

52:59THERE'S NO GENEALOGY THAT MENTIONS

53:00WOMEN. NOW, PAUSE. This is dope. All my

53:03ladies, lean in. Why does Matthew

53:05mention four women in the genealogy? He

53:08break. Oh my. This is Matthew.

53:13And so, if you got a baby, you probably

53:15want to take them out. I'm about to go

53:16past PG. Okay. Matthew breaks writing

53:20protocol and he throws four women in the

53:23genealogy. Now, pause.

53:26You can't just READ THOSE NAMES AND YOU

53:28GOT TO SCRATCH YOUR HEAD

53:30because he ain't throw four righteous

53:31women in there.

53:33[Applause]

53:36[Music]

53:40Matthew, he tossed four WOMEN IN THERE

53:42WHO GOT CONTROVERSIAL BACKGROUNDS,

53:45CONTROVERSIAL STORIES. THEY GOT THEY GOT

53:48STORIES SURROUNDING their name.

53:51Some ratchet STUFF WITH ALL OF THESE

53:52women and immorality and stuff

53:54surrounding their name. LIKE SOME OF

53:56Y'ALL DON'T KNOW THE HISTORY. SO, let me

53:57break it down for you. The first woman

53:59he mentions is Tamar.

54:01Oh, that's a dope name. Hold on, though.

54:03Do you know what Tamar did?

54:06There was a man named Judah.

54:08He was a womanizer. He had three sons.

54:10Tamar was married to the first son.

54:13Watch. The first son was so evil, God

54:16killed him.

54:18But he had no children with Tamar. So

54:20there was no lineage to continue.

54:22So what's supposed to happen is that

54:24she's supposed to marry the next son, a

54:25man named Onan.

54:27And Onin is supposed to have a baby with

54:29Tamar according to the custom so that a

54:32son could come through the lineage. But

54:34Onin knows because of lever marriage, if

54:36I have a son with Tamar, the son is

54:38going to get the throne and I won't. So

54:40the scripture says, not Philillip. Okay,

54:42you ready? that every time he go in, he

54:45pull out and he spills his semen on the

54:47floor.

54:48The Bible ain't sanitized.

54:50So the scripture says Odin keeps

54:51sleeping with Tamar,

54:53but right before he pull he he pull out

54:55and he spills all his semen on the

54:57floor. HE WON'T BUST INSIDE OF TAMAR. HE

54:59WON'T GIVE HER a baby. WHY? BECAUSE HE

55:02DON'T WANT HER child to get the throne

55:03because he want the throne. GOD SAYS,

55:05"YOU SO WICKED." GOD KILLS HIM FOR

55:07spilling his seed on the floor.

55:10Now watch. Tamar has no son. And now

55:13Judah won't give Tamar the third son.

55:17Like, "Oh, you lying." So Tamar dress as

55:19a prostitute.

55:20She go, she hang out at the bar in the

55:22corner. Judah comes strolling through

55:23downtown. He see Tamar hanging out by

55:26the bar. He say, "Yo, let's go to this

55:27hotel." He takes Tamar to the hotel,

55:30sleeps with Tamar, gets her pregnant in

55:33the hotel, and she says, "Listen, before

55:35you leave, give me your ring and give me

55:37your staff." That's like, "Give me your

55:38identification.

55:41Promise me you going to give me some

55:42goat. So, I'm going to give YOU A GOAT.

55:44OKAY, but I need some collateral. Give

55:46me your Give me your ID.

55:47Leave your ID with me so I can get my

55:49goat.

55:50She takes his stuff.

55:52Now, she comes back and she says,

55:53"Judah, you owe me something." He says,

55:54"Man, let the woman who did this be

55:56killed." And then she pulls out his

55:58ring.

56:01And then when she sees the ring, Judah

56:02says, "Wow, this woman has been more

56:04righteous than me." that is she

56:09posed as a prostitute to get pregnant

56:13and by that one act she continues the

56:15line of Jesus.

56:27[Music]

56:29Dang. I'm over my time.

56:33I need like I need like I need like 15

56:35minutes. I need like 15 minutes.

56:38THIS IS MAD GANGA. YO, I NEED 15

56:41MINUTES. IF SHE IF SHE IF SHE DON'T PULL

56:44A PROSTITUTE CARD, THE LINE OF JESUS IS

56:47CUT OFF.

56:55I'm I'm It's going to mean something to

56:56you in a second.

56:59He mentions Rahab, ANOTHER PROSTITUTE.

57:02WHEN THE SPIES OF JERUSALEM COMES INTO

57:04HER HOMETOWN, she hides them in her

57:06house.

57:07A prostitute says, "Listen, WHEN Y'ALL

57:09COME BACK TO TAKE THE LAND, KILL

57:10EVERYBODY BUT NOT ME AND MY FAMILY AND

57:12PRESERVES HER FAMILY." A PROSTITUTE, A

57:15HOE, IS ENTERED INTO THE LINE OF JESUS

57:18BECAUSE SHE HIDES TWO DUDES IN HER CRIB.

57:26He mentions Ruth,

57:28a woman from THE HOOD,

57:29FROM A PLACE CALLED MOABITETE, WHERE

57:31NOTHING GOOD COMES FROM. SHE'S FROM A

57:33RATCHET NEIGHBORHOOD FROM THE PROJECTS.

57:36RUTH MARRIES A DUDE WHO DIES. SHE STAYS

57:39WITH THE MOTHER-IN-LAW. She goes to the

57:41mother-in-law's town called Bethlehem.

57:42She slips underneath the sheets of a man

57:44named Boaz. I'm like, "Yo, marry me."

57:47Mad scandalous. Like, yo, SHE JUST SLIPS

57:50IN UNDER THE SHEETS.

57:52Do have y'all not read? SHE SHE JUST

57:55SLIPS IN UNDER HIS SHEETS. She And he's

57:57like, "Yo, who's that?" He She's like,

57:58"Yo, marry me."

58:01Hey, like what the what you doing here?

58:04Like she's under his sheets like, "Yo,

58:06marry me."

58:09Like, "Yo,

58:12you mad b

58:19I need 10 minutes." And then he mentions

58:21a woman not by name called Bath Sheba. A

58:23woman who was bathing naked. When David

58:25saw her, he was like, "Dang,

58:28kills her husband, takes the wife for

58:31himself." Now watch. Why in God's name

58:36would Matthew mention such ratchet women

58:40in a genealogy who got drama surrounding

58:43their name? Why would he do that? I'm

58:45almost done. Why would Matthew break all

58:48protocol to put four ratchet women in a

58:51royal genealogy?

58:54Why would he do that? Because you got to

58:56keep reading. Cuz he mentioned a fifth

58:58woman

58:59who also got scandal around her name.

59:01Her name was Mary,

59:03the mother of Jesus, who was engaged to

59:06a man named Joseph and comes up pregnant

59:08as a virgin. Joseph is like, "Yo, who

59:10you been boning?"

59:11Mary's like, "Yo, it's the Holy Spirit."

59:13Joseph is like, "I don't believe that.

59:15Hey,

59:17we going downtown.

59:19So the scripture says HE TRIED TO

59:20DIVORCE HER QUIETLY.

59:22WHY? Because now there's story

59:24surrounding HER NAME THAT MARY WAS

59:26UNFAITHFUL TO JOSEPH.

59:30But God sends an ANGEL TO JOSEPH SAYS,

59:31"NO, NO, SHE NOT PREGNANT BY SOME OTHER

59:33DUDE. She pregnant by the Holy Spirit.

59:35The person that's in there will be the

59:36son of God." Is it possible

59:40that to legitimize the son of Mary,

59:43a woman who was considered ratchet, that

59:46Matthew and his genius would throw four

59:48other women in there with ratchet

59:49stories to show all the Jews that if God

59:52could walk through all these other

59:54women,

59:59[Applause]

1:00:03IF GOD CAN WORK through two prostitutes,

1:00:09Yes, sir.

1:00:10An adulterer

1:00:12and a woman who SLIPS UNDER SHEETS. IF

1:00:15GOD COULD WORK THROUGH THOSE KIND OF

1:00:17PEOPLE,

1:00:19JESUS,

1:00:20YOU BETTER BELIEVE HE CAN WORK THROUGH

1:00:22MARY TO BRING ABOUT THE SON of Jesus.

1:00:25[Applause]

1:00:28THAT YOU CANNOT DISCREDIT who God can

1:00:33work through.

1:00:36Yes, sir.

1:00:38HE SAVED THE LINE OF JESUS THROUGH TWO

1:00:43PROSTITUTES.

1:00:45A WOMAN SLIPPING ON SHEETS AND AN

1:00:47ADULTERESS.

1:00:51BUT YOU THINK EVERYBODY GOT TO BE

1:00:52PERFECT TO BE USED BY GOD?

1:00:56You got TO HAVE THE PERFECT BACKGROUND,

1:00:58THE PERFECT STORY, THE PERFECT FAMILY

1:01:00TREE. Everybody in your FAMILY GOT TO BE

1:01:03RIGHTEOUS and right.

1:01:04Yeah.

1:01:10THIS GIVES ME HOPE FOR MY OWN

1:01:12DYSFUNCTION in my own past.

1:01:16THAT IT DOES NOT MATTER WHERE YOU CAME

1:01:18FROM.

1:01:21IT ONLY MATTERS WHAT YOU DO WITH RIGHT

1:01:23NOW AND WHERE YOU GOING.

1:01:27JESUS.

1:01:29[Music]

1:01:32[Applause]

1:01:34YO, I'm done. I'm done.

1:01:38[Music]

1:01:40I'm done. Let me let me just close with

1:01:44some some gems from the family tree of

1:01:46Jesus.

1:01:48Seven of them. They ain't coming up on

1:01:49the screen. I just want to tell you them

1:01:50real quick.

1:01:52You know what? You know what we You know

1:01:53what we learn from the family tree of

1:01:54Jesus? I'm done. We see how God works

1:01:57through generations to accomplish his

1:01:59will.

1:02:01He works through generations to

1:02:03accomplish his will.

1:02:04You know what else we've learned from

1:02:06the family tree of Jesus? We see that

1:02:07when God looks down on humanity, he

1:02:09doesn't see a faceless mass of people.

1:02:12He sees names of people he knows

1:02:14personally. He knows Matthew. He knows

1:02:17Philillip. He knows Don. He knows you

1:02:19personally. He knows Inz. He knows

1:02:21Jatana. He knows you personally.

1:02:24Taylor,

1:02:27he knows you. He knows where you are and

1:02:30what you've been through, what you're

1:02:31going through. He knows you personally.

1:02:33You know, as we learn from the family

1:02:35tree of Jesus, we see how God uses

1:02:37righteous people and evil people and

1:02:39famous people and unknown people for his

1:02:42glory and for his purposes.

1:02:44You know what else we learned through

1:02:45the family tree of Jesus? We see that a

1:02:47dysfunctional family tree does not

1:02:49hinder your future.

1:02:52You know what else we see in the family

1:02:53tree of Jesus? We see how God uses

1:02:55ordinary people through history to bring

1:02:58about great missions in the earth.

1:03:02You know what else we see through the

1:03:04family tree of Jesus?

1:03:06We see how God can use people deemed

1:03:08unworthy by others

1:03:11to be associated with Jesus.

1:03:13Have you ever felt unworthy?

1:03:16Have you ever felt like, man, there's no

1:03:18way God can use a person like me? You

1:03:19know what I've done? You know what I've

1:03:20been through? You know what I've said?

1:03:21You know what I've done? You you have no

1:03:22idea what I There's no way God can use a

1:03:25person like me.

1:03:30But the last one I want to give you and

1:03:31I'm done. Probably the most important

1:03:32thing we see in the family line of

1:03:34Jesus. This one means everything to me.

1:03:36We see how important your faithfulness

1:03:38in your generation is.

1:03:41Cuz you have no idea how your decisions

1:03:43in this life and how your faithfulness

1:03:46is going to impact the children coming

1:03:48behind you, their children and their

1:03:50children. My children, you look, their

1:03:52lives have been completely Look, their

1:03:54lives have been have been set on a

1:03:57course because of the decisions I've

1:03:58made,

1:03:59the actions I've taken. You have, listen

1:04:01to me, this is serious. You have no idea

1:04:04the impact you can have on the people

1:04:06coming out of your loins behind you by

1:04:08the decisions you make today. Your

1:04:10faithfulness is important today. That's

1:04:12why you need to run your race.

1:04:18It's important for you to run your race,

1:04:20to be faithful in your generation, to

1:04:22take your baton of faith and hand it off

1:04:24to the next person.

1:04:26Listen, you have Listen, some of y'all

1:04:28are building businesses and building

1:04:29things that's going to change your

1:04:31generations forever. You have no That's

1:04:33why you got to do you while you here now

1:04:36according to God's purposes for your

1:04:37life.

1:04:39You have no idea how your faithfulness

1:04:41is going to impact people coming behind

1:04:43you. So, I want to say to somebody as I

1:04:46close, your life counts. That's what we

1:04:48see in the genealogy. I'm closing your

1:04:51I'm talking to you, my brother. I'm

1:04:52talking to you, my sister. I'm done.

1:04:54Listen to me. Don't move. Listen.

1:04:57Listen to me. Look right at me.

1:05:00Christian, look right at me, unbeliever.

1:05:03Look right at me. Look at me.

1:05:06Look at me. Your life matters.

1:05:12And what you do with it, it matters. It

1:05:14counts for something.

1:05:17[Music]

1:05:19We are unwise to live every day

1:05:21aimlessly without any kind of goals or

1:05:24vision. Your life matters. Your

1:05:27decisions matter. Your actions matter.

1:05:30What I do with this one life I get, it

1:05:33matters.

1:05:36Can I Can I go deeper? YOU HAVE NO IDEA

1:05:39HOW your decisions is going to shift

1:05:41your whole family forever.

1:05:45Watch this. I'm I'mma talk to me. You

1:05:47take this for you. There's going to be

1:05:49some kids four generations from now.

1:05:50They're going to remember Philip Anthony

1:05:53Mitchell.

1:05:54They're going to say, "It was that dude,

1:05:56my great great great grandfather, who

1:05:59changed everything for our family, left

1:06:01us an inheritance, built wealth, gave us

1:06:03a legacy of faith. Fill in your blank.

1:06:06Your life matters.

1:06:11Your life matters. All y'all women that

1:06:13be talking, I want my Boaz. I want my

1:06:15Boaz. I want his His mother was Rahab

1:06:17the prostitute.

1:06:20Even your child is going to matter.

1:06:30That's why you got to play your part.

1:06:31I'm done.

1:06:33Some of you have come from great

1:06:35families

1:06:37and some of you have come from

1:06:38dysfunctional families. But the greatest

1:06:41family you will ever be a part of is the

1:06:44family of God.

1:06:46It is the greatest family.

1:06:51Now, every head bowed and every eye

1:06:53closed. I'm done. Nobody moving.

1:06:59Some of you have come from dysfunctional

1:07:01paths.

1:07:03But the greatest family you'll ever be a

1:07:06part of is the family of God. Some of

1:07:08you have come from great families.

1:07:10Praise God for your name and your

1:07:12wealth. But the greatest family you will

1:07:15ever be a part of is the family of God.

1:07:17Why? Cuz every family is going into

1:07:20eternity. And the only families that's

1:07:23going to survive the judgment. The only

1:07:25family that's not going to end up in

1:07:27eternal damnation. The only family

1:07:29that's not going to hell is those who

1:07:31are in the family of God. Does not

1:07:34matter YOUR PAST, YOUR BACKGROUND, OR

1:07:36WHERE you came from. You need to at some

1:07:38point in time insert your life into the

1:07:41family of God. That's your only

1:07:43insurance when you die. Your money can't

1:07:46help you when you die. Your connections

1:07:48can't help you when YOU DIE. YOUR STATUS

1:07:50CAN'T HELP YOU WHEN YOU DIE, AND YOU'RE

1:07:52going to die. And the only family that's

1:07:54going to end up in heaven and live in

1:07:56glory forever is those who are connected

1:07:59to the family of God. Today, right now,

1:08:01in this moment, I'm going to give you an

1:08:03opportunity to place your name in the

1:08:06family of God. You say, "How? I got to

1:08:09go to church every week?" Nope. I got to

1:08:11be religious. Nope. I got to be perfect.

1:08:14Nope. All you got to do is keep it real.

1:08:18Just keep it real with no cap. Here it

1:08:20is. Here is the gospel. You and I are

1:08:23sinners. We have broken God's laws and

1:08:27we were born in sin. The scripture says

1:08:29if anyone dies in sin, they're going to

1:08:32be separated from God for all eternity.

1:08:35But God in his love, not wanting you to

1:08:38die and be damned, sent his son, the

1:08:42Lord Jesus Christ, who died a

1:08:45sacrificial death in your place. He took

1:08:48upon himself all your sin, all your

1:08:51mistakes, all your failures. Then God

1:08:54says, "If anyone would turn, trust,

1:08:57believe in, and put their faith in

1:08:59Jesus, I from heaven will forgive them

1:09:02of their sins, and I will put them in my

1:09:06family tree. I will make you my son, my

1:09:09daughter." That can happen for you right

1:09:11now. It's happening to you right now in

1:09:13your seat. I want to pray for everyone

1:09:15who says, "That's it. I want to live my

1:09:17life with purpose. I want my name in

1:09:19God's family. I want to be able to pray

1:09:20and God hears my prayers. I want to walk

1:09:23out of here knowing I could pill on my

1:09:24head tonight that my name is part of

1:09:26God's family. If I'm talking to you, I

1:09:29want to pray for you. I'm not going to

1:09:30embarrass you. I'm not going to bring

1:09:31you down here. Nobody can't see you.

1:09:34This is between you and God. It's

1:09:36private. If you say, "Preacher, that's

1:09:38me. I want to be a part of God's family.

1:09:40I want to repent of my sins. I want to

1:09:41live a life of purpose. I'm leaving here

1:09:43a brand new man, a brand new woman." If

1:09:44that's you, I'm going to count to three.

1:09:46And when I say three, I just want you to

1:09:47throw your hand up and throw it back

1:09:49down. Nobody's going to see you. Okay?

1:09:51Three, God. One, God is calling you.

1:09:55Two, you can leave here a brand new man,

1:09:57a brand new woman. Three, throw your

1:09:59hand up in the air. Leave it there. I

1:10:00see that hand. Leave it there. I'm

1:10:01trying to count. I see that hand. One,

1:10:03see that hand, daughter. Two, I see that

1:10:05hand. Three, I see that hand. Four. See

1:10:06that hand? Five 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14

1:10:1215 I see that hand. 16 17 18 19 I see

1:10:16that hand. 20 21 22 23 I see that hand.

1:10:2024 25 26 I see that hand. 27 28 29 30 I

1:10:26see that hand. 31 32 33 34 35 36 I see

1:10:34that 37 I SEE THAT 38 I see that hand.

1:10:3739 I see that hand.

1:10:4039 I see. 40 I see that hand.

1:10:4540 I see that hand.

1:10:49Put your hands down right there in your

1:10:51chair. Everybody just pray this prayer

1:10:53so they don't got to pray alone. Just

1:10:55say, "Lord,

1:10:56forgive me

1:10:57of all my

1:10:59all my wrongdoing.

1:11:00I'm sorry.

1:11:01I'm sorry.

1:11:02I repent

1:11:03of my sin.

1:11:05I put my faith

1:11:06in you.

1:11:08Now

1:11:10in Christ's name.

1:11:12Amen. Now, Father, in the name of Jesus,

1:11:14I pray for every person that just put

1:11:16their faith in you. A prayer don't save

1:11:18them. Only the Holy Spirit does that

1:11:20sovereignly from what you pre-ordained

1:11:22before the beginning of time. I pray you

1:11:24fill them with your spirit. Seal them as

1:11:26a son and daughter. I pray you change

1:11:28their family tree forever. Father, you

1:11:30said when one sinner repents, all of

1:11:32heaven rejoices. So right now, we

1:11:34rejoice with all 40 people that just put

1:11:36their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

1:11:41Come on, we rejoice right now. We

1:11:42rejoice. Somebody help me praise.

1:11:45Somebody give God praise to all boys.
