0:00Good evening. Today it's been revealed
0:01that British ports refused to take
0:04illegal immigrants. 140 illegals set off
0:07from Normandy across the channel
0:09supported by several French boats and
0:11helicopters and then dutifully picked up
0:14by the British. Two ports refused to
0:17take them. These were the port of
0:19Southampton which said it was not the
0:21closest port and it did not have
0:22suitable reception facilities available.
0:25Also, apparently the King's Harbor
0:27Master port as well declined guard
0:31request but it would not comment
0:33directly on operational matters. Well,
0:36good for that. They were eventually
0:38brought into another port in Portsmouth
0:40where a load of protesters gathered to
0:42try to block them from being brought
0:43into Britain. An RNLI spokesperson said,
0:47"We are working with the relevant
0:48parties to understand the decision to
0:50deny access and we are disappointed with
0:53the nature of the crews communication
0:54with our crews who voluntarily give
0:56their time to save the lives of others
0:59at sea." Well, look,
1:02I think the RNLI do a great job. They
1:04are brave men and women who save lives
1:06at sea every single day and they are put
1:09in an incredibly difficult position with
1:12the migrant crisis. And I have no doubt
1:15that many of their volunteers and they
1:16are volunteers don't want to spend their
1:19time recovering illegal immigrants from
1:20the channel.
1:21But I'm afraid to say I don't really
1:23care that they might be a bit
1:24disappointed with the communication with
1:25their crews because the overwhelming
1:27majority of the British public do not
1:28want these illegal immigrants to be
1:30brought ashore in the first place and
1:32any port has the right to say they don't
1:34want to become an illegal migrant
1:36dumping ground. And I am sick of this
1:38ridiculous argument of, "Oh, well. Well,
1:41would you just let these illegals drown
1:43in the channel then?" Well, no. But
1:45look, mountain rescue organizations give
1:48very stern warnings to people who go
1:51hiking and get into difficulty because
1:53they've not brought the right equipment
1:54with them. But there doesn't seem to be
1:56any pushback whatsoever on the tens of
1:58thousands of illegal immigrants who
2:00voluntarily put their own lives at risk
2:02in the channel and then rely on
2:04kind-hearted British volunteers to put
2:07their own lives at risk in order to
2:09rescue them.
2:10If I decided to take my 1-year-old son
2:13for a little walk down the fast lane of
2:14the M1, I don't think the full machinery
2:17of the British state is going to spring
2:19into action, throw its arms around me,
2:21point me in the direction of a charity
2:23group, and tell everyone that I was
2:25human trafficked there. No, I'd be
2:27prosecuted. I mean, here's one for the
2:29bleeding-heart liberals. Today, it was
2:32revealed that 57% of British voters
2:35believe that small-boat migrants should
2:37be fully detained upon arrival until
2:40their asylum applications are processed.
2:43Only 29% think they shouldn't be.
2:46So, it's fair enough for these ports to
2:49come up with whatever reason or excuse
2:50they want to refuse to take them as far
2:52as I'm concerned. And we know that most
2:55of these illegals are probably total
2:57fraudsters anyway. A Home Office
2:59whistleblower claimed that just 1% of
3:01asylum applications are genuine. He also
3:04alleged, I mean, you'll love this,
3:05right? Hundreds of Pakistani applicants
3:08had claimed to be involved in a gay
3:10relationship with the same individual.
3:12He's busy, isn't he?
3:14Who was said to have provided hundreds
3:16upon hundreds of very obviously fake
3:18letters of support. They said the Home
3:21Office get these photographs.
3:23And what you see is a about 10 Pakistani
3:26guys all standing there topless in the
3:28club with their arms around each other
3:30taking pictures to try to prove that
3:32they're gay. Hundreds of them also
3:35claimed to be married to the same
3:37Kurdish man's daughter. Yeah, poor girl.
3:40I mean, it comes after another Home
3:42Office whistleblower told Allison
3:43Pearson at the Daily Telegraph that they
3:45are apparently told to approve claims by
3:48Afghans even if they were suspected of
3:51exposing themselves in a children's play
3:53park in Britain or that they thought
3:55they were likely to go on to rape
3:57someone. We've had numerous cases of
3:59people pretending to be Christian in
4:01order to get asylum. An Afghan illegal
4:03who doused a woman and a child with acid
4:05in Clapham failed his asylum claim
4:07several times, committed a sex crime and
4:10then converted to Christianity. He
4:13actually had a Muslim funeral by the
4:14way, so I'll leave you to figure that
4:15one out for yourselves. A Nigerian woman
4:18failed to get asylum eight times, so she
4:21claimed to have joined a banned Nigerian
4:23terrorist organization so she couldn't
4:25be sent back. Yesterday, the United
4:28Nations, yes, the United Nations came
4:31out and said,
4:33well, they believe that the UK Home
4:35Office is actually granting asylum to
4:37people who are not entitled to it. Well,
4:40are they far-right now, are they? Is the
4:41UN far-right? It's amazing that people
4:44are willing to believe what the United
4:45Nations says is happening in Gaza, but
4:47they won't believe what it says is
4:49happening in our own country. And then
4:52to top it all off, we had this
4:54revelation in the last few hours.
4:57Brand new figures show that 2/3 of
4:59rejected asylum seekers have their
5:02claims approved after they appeal.
5:0564% to be precise, and thousands who
5:09have had their claims totally rejected
5:12are still living in migrant hotels,
5:14which to be honest with you, disproves
5:16the figures from the Labour government,
5:17doesn't it, about the amount of
5:18rejections. All of that lunacy,
5:22all of that lunacy,
5:24is just 24 hours worth of news about the
5:28migrant crisis in Britain.
5:29How are people still defending this?
5:31So, yes, when you look at all of that, I
5:34do think that any British port has the
5:36right to refuse entry to these illegal
5:39immigrants. And I think that that should
5:41probably become a national policy. Let's
5:44get the thoughts of my panel. We've got
5:45Tory MP Esther McVey, GB News
5:46contributor, well, Kingston and
5:47political commentator Carl Wollaston.
5:50Well, I'll start with you. So, yeah, I
5:54mean a couple of British ports are don't
5:56care what excuse they had to come up
5:57with, but they found some, didn't they?
5:58>> They did, but this shouldn't be their
6:00responsibility, Patrick. What I think
6:01we've seen over the weekend is that the
6:04people of this country no longer
6:05believe, if they ever did, that this
6:07government can solve this problem and so
6:08now now they're taking matters into
6:10their own hands. They're doing it in
6:11Portsmouth, they're doing it in Dover,
6:12the ports authorities are doing this.
6:14And of course, this is now incredibly
6:15dangerous because when the people lose
6:18trust that the government can do the
6:20most basic things, they lose trust in
6:22the democratic process, then that's when
6:24more dangerous things can happen. So, I
6:26don't have a problem with the ports
6:27doing this, but this is not their job.
6:29>> Yeah, I mean you just you just kind of
6:31look at all of that. I mean that is I
6:32mean there's so much more that obviously
6:33could have put in there, but that is
6:34just like 24 hours worth of of news in
6:37terms of the Home Office whistleblower
6:39just 1% of them are real, the kind of
6:41levels that they're going to, you know,
6:43pretending to be married to the the same
6:45Pakistani man or or Kurdish bloke's
6:47daughter.
6:48The UN's chiming in now. I mean
6:51literally everyone can see that we are
6:53living through insane times.
6:55>> Yeah, what a mess and what a soft touch
6:58we are. So, if everybody knows the odds
7:00are if you appeal, you're going to stay
7:01here, well, you might as well try and
7:02get on a boat and get over here, which
7:04is exactly what they're doing. Fake some
7:06sort of asylum claim, but they're
7:08breaking into our country. And now that
7:10they've got the super dinghies, they're
7:11not coming over in one short pass.
7:15They're now saying, "Well, we can go
7:16anywhere along the coast." This is
7:18becoming really dangerous now and until
7:20Labour get a grip, nobody smash the
7:22gangs, nobody stop the boats, they need
7:24to say "Deport, detain a third country
7:29to do the processing. They cannot come
7:31here cuz now
7:33it is everybody basically having a go,
7:36having a crack to get into England."
7:37>> Okay, look, I again I will stress this
7:40that I have a huge amount of sympathy
7:42for the RNLI and also it's worthwhile
7:43pointing that out because apparently
7:45every time anyone slags them off their
7:46donations go through the roof. So, you
7:48know, if you are critical of them in any
7:49way, there's no point vocalizing it cuz
7:51they always end up ending up with more
7:53money. But yeah, they were complaining
7:55there about the the the poor
7:56communication
7:58with some of the ports. So,
7:59how do you feel about the role of the
8:02RNLI in this this illegal migrant
8:04crisis?
8:05>> Well, I think the fact that they
8:08help 36,000 people at sea every year,
8:12you know, 9,000 times they're launched
8:14in really dangerous conditions, really
8:16difficult to understand conditions. I
8:18think that's key, isn't it? Because
8:20they're used to difficulty in
8:22communicating and so on and the fact
8:24they said this in this instance, I think
8:26shows just the depth of feeling they
8:28have, especially I think because their
8:30volunteers have been targeted, you know,
8:31and neo-Nazi reposted messages calling
8:34them traitors,
8:36calling out one of their addresses, one
8:38of the RNLI volunteers.
8:39>> don't like it. I don't
8:40>> And and what this underlines for me is
8:42this has become really messy and I think
8:43we've all said it here.
8:46One of the reasons why these crossings
8:48in particular are happening is because
8:51of some good action. The mega dinghies
8:53are because the supply chains are being
8:55disrupted so they're piling more people
8:56on bigger boats. These new routes are
8:58happening because of the better policing
9:01of a new patrol force that the French
9:03have launched. So,
9:05so that is
9:06there are some successes. Even the
9:07Telegraph in the article that we were
9:08all sent in preparation for this show
9:10admits as much.
9:12>> You see the pricing structure now by the
9:14criminal gangs, it's down to 500 quid to
9:16come over on a dinghy. So, they're
9:18piling them on high and bringing them
9:20over sea with gangs. You can go via
9:21another route which is now coming right
9:23up the charts as it were and that is
9:25slightly more expensive, 5,000 pounds to
9:27come in on either a container or in a
9:29wagon. And why? Because you can
9:31disappear straight away into the gray or
9:33black economy. Or you can get a 15,000
9:35pound transport over here which is a
9:37super service, which is basically
9:39planes, trains, automobiles, false
9:41passports, all your documentation done.
9:43We're coming in every way because we are
9:45not stopping them. There is no
9:47deterrent.
9:48>> that's why only 5 days ago Burnham said
9:50we need to scale up the progress on this
9:53with Macron when he met him at the
9:56Bayeux Tapestry. Also, he's talked about
9:58being relentless in this. You all will
10:00sit there and say the Labour government
10:02isn't committed to doing anything. It's
10:03weak on this. Well, actually, they're
10:05going further. They're recommitting to
10:07what Burnham has already been working
10:09on. And even the Telegraph says it's
10:11working.
10:11>> We have this conversation almost every
10:13week. I know you've got to put on a good
10:15brave face. Do you honestly think this
10:16government can get boats down to zero?
10:19>> I don't think any government can get
10:20boats down to zero, but I think No,
10:22that's a good fair point. Why not?
10:24Because I think number one, I think what
10:26these developments all underline, as I
10:27was saying, is messy. It's very
10:29complicated. I think the government is
10:31open to some of those suggestions that
10:32you all have about third countries as
10:34well.
10:34>> blows The thing that blows out the
10:36water, I think, if you'll excuse the
10:38pun, is that
10:40we are now getting this is the second
10:41Home Office whistleblower that's that's
10:43come out, plus the figures that were
10:45emerged today about the fact that 64% of
10:48failed asylum seekers get approved on
10:50appeal. The government could do
10:53something about that, and they are not
10:55doing anything about that.
10:57>> No, and look, some people say that the
10:58government doesn't want to solve this
11:00problem. If I'm being charitable, I
11:02think they want to solve it, but they
11:03don't want to solve it more than they
11:05want to hold onto their international
11:07human rights frameworks more than they
11:09want to appease particular voting
11:11blocks. And we've said this so many
11:12times on this channel, Patrick. If you
11:14don't actually change the legal
11:16framework around this issue, you're not
11:18going to solve the problem. They're not
11:19willing to do that.
11:19>> Well, they seem to care more. We'll talk
11:20about this at 10:00 p.m., but as far as
11:22I can see, they seem to care more about
11:23disputed borders in the Middle East than
11:24they do about our own border here in
11:25this country. But
11:27Esther, just just on the on back to the
11:28kind of online stuff. Because
11:32you can get done for wasting like
11:34authorities' time. Yeah, that is a that
11:36is an offense. And I do think that
11:40deliberately putting yourself off from
11:42the beaches in France and setting sail
11:45across the English Channel, the busiest
11:46shipping lane in the world, in the hope
11:48/ knowledge that a load of volunteers
11:50are going to put their lives at risk to
11:52drug you to drug you ashore again is
11:54wasting deliberately wasting the time.
11:57We get warnings for things all the time.
11:59I mean, I get on London Underground and
12:00it's above 25°. I get a warning
12:02reminding me to drink water in case I in
12:04case I pass out or something. You know,
12:06if I used to work up in in the Lake
12:08District, the mountain rescue teams
12:09there would often shame people actually,
12:11rightly so. Someone's decided to go and
12:13and climb Scafell Pike wearing his
12:15stilettos and they've got into
12:16difficulty in the dead of night. You
12:18know, they might post a picture of that
12:19and say to you, "This is ridiculous.
12:21Don't do it." Yeah? Why aren't the RNLI
12:23doing a bit more about this with these
12:24illegals?
12:25>> Look, being volunteers, they just
12:27compartmentalize what they do. They say,
12:29"We don't do it any prejudice, any
12:30favor, any judgment. We just go and do
12:33what they're doing." So, I think Border
12:34Force in a way is using them and they're
12:36just going and doing what they do. Until
12:40France and England work together to say,
12:43"We will send them both to a third Both
12:46of us will send these illegal immigrants
12:48to a third country. Each time one pushes
12:51one over, it's one less for that
12:52country." And that is the only way to
12:54solve it. We need Rwanda back and then
12:57neither they will they stay in France or
12:59England, they will go there. But until
13:01then, I'm afraid there's various sort of
13:02people used and I think the RNLI and the
13:04the group of volunteers there are sort
13:06of being used. Their better nature is
13:07being used cuz they can't really say to
13:09anybody, "Don't do this. Don't do that."
13:11I I I don't really think they've got the
13:12wherewithal to do it. But the two
13:13governments, if they weren't such sort
13:16of left-wing ideologues, could have
13:18said, "And this is what we're going to
13:20do. Detain, deport, and here is a third
13:23country that we're both going to work on
13:25together to get rid of these people."
13:27>> One of the concerns that I've got about
13:29this, and again, this is not the fault
13:30of the RNLI, but a lot of these kind of
13:33very well-organized,
13:35kind of left-wing groups, etc., they
13:37know, don't they, that if if they give a
13:40load of money to the RNLI, they are
13:42indirectly helping to facilitate the
13:45illegal migrant crisis. Again, I'm not
13:46saying it's the RNLI, they're in a very,
13:48very tough position, but they know that
13:50if they can if they can help them expand
13:51their resources now and then, it's
13:53another link in the chain that makes it
13:55very easy for people to push off from
13:57Calais. You know, we don't we don't
13:58really hear about stories we don't
14:00really hear about stories where we
14:02haven't got enough rescue boats to go
14:03around or Border Force boats to go
14:05around to pick up these people, even on
14:07some of the busiest days in the Channel.
14:08We don't hear that.
14:10>> Yeah, because because the Coast Guard,
14:11Border Force, Frontex, which is the EU's
14:13Border Patrol, and the RNLI all work in
14:16concert. So, as I gather, it is
14:18whichever boat is closest, best
14:20equipped.
14:21>> Yeah.
14:21>> I don't think that this is anything to
14:22do with people funneling money to the
14:25RNLI in order that they can This one
14:28Almost all the small boats are escorted.
14:30I think there's one that got through
14:31last year that we heard about that
14:32wasn't escorted and known about.
14:34>> What about the notion that the notion
14:36that there is as all of the industry all
14:39around making sure that illegal
14:41immigrants come here, whether it's a cur
14:42for Calais, whether it's a lawyers here,
14:45whether it is all the charitable groups
14:47here. That is, without doubt, happening.
14:49>> doesn't happen to anyone else. It will
14:50not happen to anyone else. I gave the
14:51example there, seriously, if I decided
14:53to take George a little stroll in his
14:54pram down the fast lane of the M1. You
14:56don't end up with this situation where
14:57there's there's helicopters in the sky.
14:59You get a police escort to go and get
15:01you on It just It just doesn't happen.
15:03You get prosecuted for being a bad
15:04parent. Why is it that all you got to do
15:06is put a life jacket on someone near the
15:08French coast. French police officer will
15:10guide you to a sand dune. They'll shove
15:12a load of helicopters in the air.
15:13They'll
15:14give you a give you a leaflet on how to
15:15do it.
15:16>> And translate it, push you out into sea.
15:18Don't worry if it's at night, there's a
15:19helicopter in the air, we'll light your
15:21path to the white cliffs of Dover.
15:23Border Force will be there at the
15:24halfway point to come and get No other
15:26function in in the world works as
15:28efficiently as this.
15:29>> Yeah, but this is why we saw people
15:30protesting in Dover and Portsmouth and
15:32it'll keep happening because there is
15:33this perception that the government is
15:35not putting the British people first.
15:36>> Mhm. All right, okay. Well, anyway,
15:38we'll we'll turn some of this stuff, but
15:39um it is of course your chance to win
15:41the latest
