0:00And I before I even read this scripture,

0:02I want you to know that what I'm about

0:03to read is in the Bible. All right?

0:06Somebody say, "It's in the Bible." It's

0:07in the Bible. It's in the Bible. What

0:09I'm getting ready to read to you. So, I

0:11don't want you to think that I'm making

0:12this up. This is in the Bible. Watch

0:15this. I'm reading out of the Foster

0:18International Version. It says this.

0:20Watch this. Genesis 39. It says this. 39

0:23verse number six. So, he left all that

0:25he owned in Joseph's care. He wasn't

0:27concerned about anything except the food

0:29he ate. Then watch what it says. Joey

0:33was wellbuilt and handsome.

0:38What does your Bible say?

0:40Well, that's close.

0:42I'm just teasing. I'm just teasing.

0:45Joseph was wellb built and handsome.

0:49That's extremely important. Joseph.

0:51Joseph. We've been We've been talking

0:52about Joseph for the entire month.

0:54Joseph is well built and hands. All

0:56right. Uh, now that you're in Genesis

0:57chapter number 39, let's go down to our

0:59real scripture. I was just I just threw

1:00that in there. Uh, let's go to the real

1:03scripture. Genesis 39, verse number 11

1:06says this. She grabbed him by his

1:09clothes and said, "Come to bed with

1:13me." But he ran outside and left his

1:16clothes in her

1:19hand. She grabbed him by his clothes.

1:22And this is what she said. She said,

1:23"Come come to bed with

1:25me." But he ran

1:28outside and left his clothes in her

1:32hand. I want to put a tag on this text

1:34and teach from this topic. You can have

1:37that, but you can't have this.

1:41You may have your seats in the hands.

1:44Yeah. Yeah. Y'all like, "Okay." All

1:46right, pastor. Where we going today?

1:49Unless you've been living under a rock

1:50or in a cave, then you are aware because

1:53it's all over news outlets, all over

1:55social media, all over TMZ shade room.

1:59It's it's everywhere. Uh that is that

2:01there are influential individuals both

2:04in sports, entertainment, media, and

2:06even the political sphere that have

2:08recently come under fire for let's just

2:11say some extracurricular

2:13activities. Are y'all here?

2:17Some individuals are currently living in

2:20I'm sorry. Some individuals are

2:21currently in court fighting off

2:23allegations. Others trying to settle

2:26civily outside of the system. Some are

2:28even taking to social media to try and

2:30win the public relations war in the eyes

2:33of the people. Either way, if 2025

2:36hadn't shown us anything, it has shown

2:39us in the most simplest terms what's

2:41done in the dark will come to the light.

2:46Uh, by the grace of God, y'all stay with

2:48me for a moment. Y'all y'all All right,

2:50everybody. Okay, we good? By the grace

2:52of God, the guilty will be charged, the

2:55innocent will be exonerated, but either

2:57way, the truth will eventually come out.

2:59Before you think that this is a message

3:00about them, stay with me. It's not.

3:03Nobody drives in their car 20, 15, 30

3:07minutes, wherever it is, however long

3:09you had to drive to go and and find out

3:11about something that they can Google.

3:14Nobody comes to church to catch the

3:16latest

3:18tea. The only tea we want is the text.

3:22Amen. That being said, there are some

3:25powerful principles that we got to pull

3:27from some of these individuals and how

3:29they navigate their situations and not

3:32only them, but how it's navigated in the

3:35text that we're in. Joseph finds himself

3:37in a similar type of situation. It is

3:39interesting that with all of the gifting

3:41that they had and all of the aspirations

3:44that they set out to accomplish and all

3:46of the odds that these individuals in

3:48the sports and the entertainment sphere

3:50have defied and with all of the records

3:52that they have broken with all of the

3:54dreams that they have dreamt, there's

3:57still something that seeks to drag down

3:59the dreams of these dream chasers.

4:02Because most dream chasers don't realize

4:05that influence can reveal infections.

4:10Yeah. Most dream chasers don't realize

4:13that influence can reveal infections.

4:16Infections where? In our

4:19character. This ain't for them. This is

4:21for us, right? So, so because when we

4:24talk about being a dream chaser, we're

4:26often focused on fulfilling the dream

4:28and and and and the success and and and

4:30what God is calling us to do. And that's

4:32real. But success can reveal sickness

4:36and popularity can reveal pollution. Thi

4:40think about it. God calls us to

4:43something and sometimes we don't

4:45understand it fully. It is almost as if

4:49God gives information on a need to know

4:51basis.

4:53He He tells us enough to get us out

4:56there but not everything because we

4:58would never leave.

5:02All right. All right. All right, I got a

5:03question. Anybody any dream chasers in

5:05the building? Any dream ch meaning I'm

5:07doing what God has called me to do.

5:09That's my desire. That's my aim. We get

5:11excited about what's possible. We We are

5:14elated about our potential. We're even

5:17enthusiastic about our purpose. But

5:19watch this. Along with all that

5:20excitement, I'm going somewhere. All

5:22that elation and all that enthusiasm, I

5:25want to inform us that a God-given dream

5:28will always come with things. Watch

5:31this. You may dread, you must dodge, and

5:35you need to defeat.

5:40Okay. Got to do some work on my

5:44birthday. A God-given dream will always

5:48come with some things you may dread, you

5:51must dodge, and you need to defeat.

5:55Dream chasers not only are prepared to

5:58handle the aspects of what they dream

6:01for, they are prepared to handle the

6:04aspects of the dream that they

6:07dread. There is uh oh a backside to

6:10every blessing.

6:14More of anything means more of

6:17everything.

6:19More promotion, more pressure,

6:23more influence, more scrutiny. More

6:26clients, more hours at work. More

6:29anointing, more attack. Biggie said,

6:31"More money, more

6:35problems. Accept the call to ministry.

6:38Have to deal with betrayal."

6:42Career elevation. People now perceiving

6:45you as something that they never known

6:46you to be. But put it on your ass. It's

6:49like we was just friends yesterday. Now

6:51that I got the promotion, now we're know

6:52what

6:55happened. There's a backside to every

6:59blessing. And the reason that God is

7:03withholding some blessings is not

7:05because we're not ready for the

7:07blessing. Maybe it's because we're not

7:09ready for the backside of it.

7:13Not that you're not ready for the

7:14promotion. You're brighter than your

7:16boss, smarter than your supervisor, but

7:19can you handle the pressure that comes

7:20with the promotion?

7:24Not that you're not ready for the

7:25position, not that you're not ready for

7:27the call, but can you handle your

7:28calendar when you're in high demand?

7:35There there's a backside, y'all. All

7:37right. There's a backside. And every

7:40dream has aspects of the dream that the

7:43dreamchaser dreads.

7:45I I just got to let you know that. I got

7:47to let you know that because we have a

7:48church full of c creatives and and

7:50entrepreneurs and and influencers and

7:53influential people. All of us have

7:55influence. Uh and I think that's

7:58beautiful. But I think it's important to

8:00understand that there's a part of the

8:03dream that you're going to dread. I know

8:06you dreamed of owning a company, but can

8:09you handle the dread of having to lay

8:12people off that you love?

8:18It's

8:19quiet. I should have preached something

8:21else for my birthday message. I had

8:24another one. I should have next I'll

8:26preach the next one next week. I don't

8:27know. The dream is being called to

8:29ministry flowing in your God-given

8:31purpose.

8:32The dread is having people call you

8:35something that you've never

8:38been. The dread is having people make up

8:40a narrative about one chapter of your

8:43life.

8:45Oh yeah, you're anointed, but are you

8:48anointed for the attack?

8:52Not not not can you prophesy,

8:57not can you lead worship,

9:00not can you preach, not can you

9:03administrate, can you handle

9:06hate, can you handle pressure, can they

9:10throw spears at you and you not feel the

9:12need to pick it up and throw it back?

9:19David in the cave rolled up on Saul.

9:22Saul was out to kill David. David was so

9:24smooth. He rolled up on the cave on

9:26Saul, cut a piece of Saul's robe off and

9:29said, "I could have killed you."

9:32They was in the They was in the palace.

9:34Lord have mercy. This is good to me.

9:36They were in the palace and Saul was so

9:39jealous of

9:41David. Saul picked up a spear, threw it

9:44at David. David dodged it. it went into

9:47the

9:47wall. The reason that that's important

9:49is because David was a warrior.

9:52David could have grabbed that same

9:55spear, pulled it out, and killed Saul.

10:00So, when we talk about David being a man

10:02after God's own heart, do you realize it

10:04was because of those types of behaviors,

10:07not the promotion, but what do I do

10:09under pressure?

10:14There's some things you gonna have to

10:16every dream chaser, there's an aspect of

10:18the dream that you're going to dread.

10:19Not only I'm really preaching the text

10:22already if y'all follow me. I'm

10:24preaching the text. I'm doing great on

10:25time. So So when you start Oh, okay.

10:28Okay. There's aspects of the dream that

10:29you're going to have to dread. And then

10:30there's aspects of the dream that, watch

10:32this, you're gonna have to dodge and

10:34others that you're going to have to

10:36defeat.

10:38Oh man, this is so good.

10:41Not only are dream chasers preparing

10:43themselves to handle what they dread,

10:44they understand some things you must

10:47dodge and others you must defeat. When I

10:51dodge something, I'm staying away from

10:52it on purpose.

10:56That's a good place to put a note. When

10:58I dodge something, I stay away from it

11:00on purpose. When I defeat something,

11:02it's something that I can't stay away

11:03from. I can't outsmart it. So, I got to

11:06overcome it.

11:08There are some things we've got to learn

11:10to dodge and other things we got to

11:12learn to defeat. Dream chasers know

11:16this. Some battles you fight and others

11:20you flee.

11:23Man, I'm preaching better than y'all

11:25saying

11:26amen. Some battles you fight,

11:30others you flee. In the street, we fight

11:34whoever jump up.

11:36And some of us have brought our street

11:39mentality into our spirituality. And

11:43that's not how you fight in the spirit.

11:48Is this too much?

11:50You can't just jump up and fight

11:53everything that comes in front of you

11:55because you're not strong enough.

12:00All

12:01right. Okay.

12:04In the street, you fight whoever tries

12:06you. No, no, they tried

12:08me,

12:10right? You you you really to lose just

12:13because they tried you. They they tried

12:15me. But in the spirit, you need to know

12:18uh you you need to know uh that every

12:20now and then you need to put on a pair

12:22of Nikes

12:25and just

12:28run

12:30forest the the Okay, I'll unpack that.

12:33I'm preaching the text. I'm just

12:35hovering over the text, but I'm really

12:37preaching the text. Y'all will see what

12:38I mean in a moment. 1 Corinthians 6:18.

12:40It's not on the screen, but it's so

12:41good. It's worth writing down. Talking

12:43about some some battles you fight,

12:45others you flee. 1 Corinthians 6 and 18

12:47says this. Paul says, watch what Paul

12:49said. Paul says this. This is not Pastor

12:51Joey. Paul said, "Run from sexual sin."

12:59King James, flee.

13:03run from sexual sin. No other sin

13:07clearly uh affects the body as this one

13:09does. For sexual sin is a sin against

13:11your own body. Some of us, uh-oh, are

13:15trying to fight something. We need to be

13:17fleeing.

13:18You're going to keep falling because you

13:20won't flee. You keep going over there,

13:22you're going to fall. What do you think

13:24is going to happen? That much closure in

13:27the world.

13:29We just need to talk about some stuff.

13:34Y'all all right?

13:38Cuz when you had said I had one of the

13:44what? So then there are certain

13:46environments there certain battles we

13:47don't

13:48fight. We got to stay away from I don't

13:52even want to be in the room.

13:56Hello. Oh man.

13:59I don't know what kind of birthday

14:00message this is. Nobody's buying the

14:03book

14:06now. Congratulations. One copy

14:09sold. So, we've got an individual in the

14:12day that's giving us a master class on

14:13having a dream and implementing this

14:16framework of dream of dreading, dodging,

14:18and defeating. He he shows us this. You

14:20got to go back to Fresh Flex to catch

14:23the episodes leading up to this. We're

14:25in week four of this. We've been

14:26journeying through the life of Joseph.

14:28So, so I I can't go and unpack

14:30everything, but just just suffice it to

14:32say that Joseph was considered a

14:34favorite and Joseph had favor on his

14:36life and and his father brought him a

14:38code of many colors and his brothers

14:40didn't like that. They put him in the

14:41pit and they sold him off the slavery

14:43and uh he found themselves in all types

14:45of situations that he did not desire to

14:48be in. He found himself in a pit. They

14:50ripped his ripped his jacket off and

14:52tore it up and beat him up and put him

14:53in the pit. And we realize something. We

14:55realize something out of Joseph's life.

14:57We realize that God doesn't just rescue

15:00from the pit, he redeems it.

15:04So what does that mean to us? That means

15:05to us that if we ever find ourselves in

15:07a dark season, a season of despair, a

15:10season of grief, a season of sorrow, a

15:13season that we would much rather be out

15:15of, God says, "I don't just pull you

15:18out. Yes, I do. I will pull you out. But

15:21not only will I pull you out, I will let

15:23you be allowed to pull out of it a

15:26lesson you would not have learned had

15:28you not been in it. There are some

15:30seasons God doesn't stop. He allows us

15:33to go through so that we can learn

15:35something for the next place that he's

15:37taking us. So just just a little you got

15:40to go back to fresh flicks. So so so for

15:42the so so so yeah uh the IshRaelites the

15:46Ishelites are coming down and the

15:48brothers sell Joseph into slavery. They

15:51they sell him and uh uh the IshRaelites

15:55take him. The Ishraelites take him. And

15:57the Bible says this in Genesis chapter

15:59number 39 verse number five. Uh uh the

16:02Egyptian Piper. Oh God. Piper purchases

16:06Joseph from the

16:08IshRaelites. Piper an Egyptian officer

16:12purchases Joseph from the Ishelites. So

16:16now Joseph has been purchased into

16:18slavery. The Bible says this, Genesis

16:2039:5, it says this, from the time uh uh

16:23from the time of uh of the Lord, the the

16:26from the time on the Lord blessed the

16:27Egyptians house because of Joseph. We

16:29dealt with that last week. Therefore,

16:31the Lord's blessing was on everything

16:33Piper owned in his house and in his

16:35field. That's 39 and5. Watch this is

16:37extremely important. This dreamchaser

16:39was favored by God. I'm going fast

16:40because I got to get somewhere. And uh

16:42the Bible says that as he was in uh this

16:45Egyptians house, the Egyptians officer's

16:48house whose name was Piper. This word

16:50officer means either a highranking

16:53officer or it is literally translated in

16:56the original language as a unic. Y'all

16:58say unic. You might not know what a unic

17:01is, but a unic is an individual who has

17:02been castrated. Okay. Do I need to go

17:05further? We good? Amen. All right. So,

17:09hang on to that. That might be

17:10important. So here it is. We find Joseph

17:14in the house of Piper who is the the uh

17:17the head security guy for Pharaoh.

17:21High position. And in his time there,

17:24the Bible says that the Lord blessed the

17:26Egyptians house because Joseph was

17:29there. Some people don't realize that

17:31the reason they're blessed is because

17:33you're in their presence.

17:35Okay. All right. So here it is. Uh uh uh

17:39uh Piper's Potterer put Joseph over

17:42everything. Everything the Bible says

17:44everything that Piper was over. Joseph

17:46was over. Resources, Joseph was over.

17:48Money, Joseph was over security, Joseph

17:51was over. Distribution of food, Joseph

17:53was over. Everything that Piper was

17:56over, Joseph was over. That's extremely

17:58important. While Joseph was in Pterer's

18:00house, he wasn't there two years. He was

18:02there 11 years. He rose to a degree of

18:05influence that he now had reign over

18:08everything. The only thing Piper worried

18:10about was what Piper was gonna

18:13eat. That's the Bible. The Bible said

18:16Potterer didn't have any cares in the

18:17world. All right. Now, let's get to the

18:20text. All right. This is this gonna mess

18:23you up. I'm skipping some back there.

18:25Y'all got to roll with me. Here it is.

18:28Uh

18:29Piper saw Joseph and saw the favor on

18:33Joseph through how Joseph was

18:35serving. Jacob, Joseph's father, saw

18:38Joseph and saw the favor and made Joseph

18:41his favorite. Bought him a coat. So

18:44Joseph has this idea of favorite rolling

18:46in his entire life. This is extremely

18:49important. It's gonna mess you up. Jacob

18:53saw Joseph and saw favor.

18:57Piper saw Joseph and saw

19:01favor. Piper's wife saw Joseph and saw

19:07favor. But we see a different

19:09reaction from Jacob and Piper than we do

19:14from Piper's wife. Stay with me, y'all.

19:18All right. This is so good to me. I love

19:20teaching the Bible, y'all. I love this.

19:23Watch this. All right. So, Joseph's

19:27favor was

19:28attractive to

19:31Jacob, to

19:33Piper, and to Piper's wife.

19:38The favor on our lives attracts

19:42um partners

19:45and pests.

19:51It attracts friends and foes.

19:56The anointing on our lives, I'm coming

19:58to get

19:59you.

20:01Attracts friends and foes. Watch this.

20:05And here's the part we have to either we

20:08dread. Here's the part we got to be

20:11careful to dodge if needed. And here's

20:13the part that some of us have to just

20:16defeat. The same thing that attracts

20:19elevation attracts temptation.

20:24Okay. All

20:27right. The favor not only attracted the

20:31elevation and put him in the highest

20:33position, it attracted temptation. The

20:37promotion at the job not only provides

20:41elevation. Can I come get somebody?

20:45The new position, the new calling, the

20:48the anointing, the favor on your life is

20:52not only attractive to people that want

20:55to push you up higher. It's attractive

20:58to people who want to pull you down

21:00further.

21:04If I'm helping somebody say, "This is

21:06good to me."

21:08Good for me.

21:10So now here is

21:12Joseph. Favor on his life. Temptation at

21:15his door.

21:20His brothers beat him up, put him in the

21:23pit. Betrayal. Sold him into slavery.

21:26Brokenness. Now he's gaining influence

21:28with Potterer. He's found a place of

21:30belonging. We got an individual who has

21:32experienced brokenness. Now he's

21:34experiencing belonging. But I don't know

21:37if Joseph was ready for the the

21:41brokenness. So God had to get him ready.

21:48God got him ready in a season he didn't

21:51know he needed to be ready

21:53because of a dream that he had. Y'all

21:55staying with me?

21:57So now because of the rise of elevation,

21:59he's got a now he has now he has now

22:02graduated into temptation.

22:06What temptation? I'm glad you asked.

22:07Genesis 39 verse number 6 and 7 says

22:09this. So he left all that he owned in

22:11Joseph's care. He wasn't concerned about

22:12anything except the food he ate. Joseph

22:14was wellbuilt and handsome. Uh after a

22:17while his master's wife began to desire

22:20Joseph. So she

22:23said, "Come to bed. Come to bed with

22:28me." She didn't say it like that. She

22:31said, "Come to bed with me." Your

22:33version might say, "Come lie with me."

22:36I started to name the message, "You

22:38lying."

22:41She says, "Come to bed with me." She She

22:43tempts Joseph with what tends to take

22:46down so many.

22:51Y'all hear? She tempts Joseph with the

22:54same thing that takes down so many, a

22:57good feeling. Because so many people are

23:01driven by their feelings. So many dream

23:03chasers, we're driven by our feelings.

23:06We only move on what we're passionate

23:07about,

23:13man. And uh that same blessing can be a

23:18curse when you only move on what you're

23:20passionate about because we are born in

23:23sin and shaven iniquity. I'm passionate

23:26about some things.

23:30All right, let's get back to the

23:32text. We all have the propensity to be

23:35passionate about something that not

23:37necessarily is pushing us in the right

23:40direction. Piper's wife was tempting and

23:44Piper's wife's tempting and seductive

23:46spirit um isn't just after Joseph. Oh,

23:51I'm good on time, too. It isn't just

23:53after Joseph. So if we read this text,

23:56if we read it like a historical book,

23:59then we just learn about

24:00Joseph. You didn't drive all the way to

24:03Fresh Church to just learn about

24:07Joseph. Piper's wife represents

24:13something. Piper's wife represents

24:15anything that attempts to lure us away

24:18from our Lord and lead us into a life of

24:21lust.

24:23Time

24:24She tempts Joseph with something that

24:26will be beneficial for him temporarily

24:30but detrimental to him eternally.

24:34She she tempts Joseph. But Joseph who is

24:37in the Old Testament a picture of of a

24:41coming Christ. Joseph shows us something

24:43that Jesus later cements. He shows us

24:46how to handle temptation.

24:49This is good. It's not on the screen,

24:51but it's good to me. Hebrews 4:15. For

24:53we have not a high priest, which cannot

24:56be touched with the feelings of our

24:58infirmities. Watch this. But was in at

25:00all points tempted like we were and

25:04without sin.

25:07She is no uncertain terms asking Joseph

25:11to choose a few minutes of a feeling

25:13over a lifetime of

25:15faithfulness. And Piper's wife is not

25:19just after Joseph.

25:22Oh no, that's way too easy. I'm not

25:24letting you off the hook that easy. Oh

25:26no, I'm not letting us off the hook. Oh,

25:29that's a shame what Piper's wife tried

25:31to come to do for Joseph and get Joseph.

25:34What if I told you Piper's wife

25:36represents something? Maybe Piper's wife

25:39is after

25:41us. Come here, you dreamchaser. Maybe

25:45maybe Piper's wife represents anything

25:47that attempts to lure us away from our

25:49Lord and lead us into a life of

25:54lust. Y'all here. I should have preached

25:57something else on the book launch, son.

25:59This is not the This is a bad sermon for

26:01the launch

26:03book. Hey, Dream Chaser. Maybe Piper's

26:06wife is after you. Maybe yours is not

26:09sexual seduction. Maybe you're good in

26:11that department and you felt good. It's

26:14like, I like this sermon. It's for

26:15everybody

26:16else. Maybe it's unforgiveness. Maybe

26:18it's

26:19self-righteousness. Maybe it's

26:21unadressed emotional

26:23issues that are often times asking us or

26:27giving us a statement of uh come lay

26:30with me. Maybe it's anxiety that comes

26:33knocking saying will you do me a favor?

26:35Come lay with me.

26:39May maybe it's it's loneliness that

26:41comes knocking. It says, "Would you do

26:42me a favor? Come lay with me." Maybe it

26:46maybe maybe it's situational depression

26:49that comes knocking, saying, "Would you

26:51do me a favor? Come lay with me." In

26:54other words, come compromise a lifetime

26:56of faithfulness for a few minutes of a

26:58good feeling with me. M maybe it's Are

27:01y'all here?

27:04Maybe maybe Piper's wife showed up this

27:07morning. Don't go nowhere. Stay in this

27:09bed with me.

27:13May maybe Piper's wife is a snooze. But

27:18maybe maybe Piper's wife shows up

27:20differently

27:22depending on what's your thing. Oh no,

27:26everybody's not tripping off uh laying

27:28in bed with somebody else. don't know.

27:30But maybe it's that shady deal that

27:32you're trying to turn your head to, but

27:33you know the money is

27:35good. Maybe it's claiming other people's

27:39kids on

27:43you. Maybe it's the PPP loan that ain't

27:47really you got nobody's business, no

27:50employees. just

27:55m maybe maybe

27:57maybe it's the maybe it's the pride or

28:01maybe it's the self-righteousness that

28:04that what's the only thing that's right

28:06is what you come up

28:07with. Maybe it's the insecurity that

28:10comes knocking and saying come lay with

28:12me. Don't don't go don't be who you've

28:15been called to be. Come be with me.

28:18Some of us have people in our phone

28:21that's part of wise.

28:24It's quiet in here. This is just turned

28:27into a Presbyterian church or something.

28:30Jesus

28:31Christ. That was funny. All

28:35right. Uh, are you a dream chaser having

28:39to deal with part of his wife? Don't

28:41answer. I want you to make a

28:42declaration. I'm not preaching today.

28:44I'm teaching. I got eight, four, five

28:46minutes. Lord have mercy. Um, I just

28:48want you to declare that you can't have

28:50me. I need you to say, "You can't have

28:52me. You can't have me. Depression, you

28:55can't have me. Anxiety, you can't have

28:57me." No, I'm called. I'm called to

29:00something greater. I'm called to

29:01something further. I'm called to

29:03influence, not just now, but for

29:05generations.

29:07Piper's wife represents anything that

29:10attempts to lure us. Did you know that

29:12some of the things that attempt to lure

29:13us are some of the things that we're

29:14praying for?

29:18Did you know that we could be praying

29:20for a financial breakthrough, God give

29:22it to us, and then it lure us away from

29:24him? Did you know Oh, see I can't do

29:29this. I can't even say this. I can't say

29:31this at the fresh church. I can't I got

29:33six minutes. Did you

29:35know that a lot of times this is this is

29:38why the book is so important because

29:39somebody got to say this stuff. I have

29:41no agenda. All right. Did you know a lot

29:44of times In my 10 years of pastoring,

29:49what I found is that when people get

29:52what they've been praying to God for,

29:54they get the stuff and then they leave

29:56God.

29:58Did you know how many women I can say

30:01this have gotten the man and left God?

30:05How many men have gotten the woman?

30:08Y'all here and left God. How many people

30:11have gotten the money and left God? And

30:14then we're saying, "God, where were

30:15you?" God's like, "Where were you?"

30:21Pray for the position. God can't find

30:24us.

30:27All right, I got to hurry up. I got to

30:28skip. I'm skipping back there, y'all.

30:30Y'all roll with me.

30:31Um, she grabbed Joseph and said, "Come

30:35to bed with me." But watch what Joseph

30:36says. I got to hurry up. Joseph says

30:38this. He says this. Verse number eight

30:40says, "But Joseph refused and said to

30:43her, "My master doesn't concern himself

30:45with anything in the house. He trusts me

30:47with everything he owns. No one in this

30:49house is greater than I am. He's kept

30:51nothing back from me except you because

30:54you're his wife. How could I do such a

30:58wicked thing and sin against God?"

31:01Although, verse number 10, although she

31:03kept asking Joseph day after day, he

31:06refused to go to bed with her. for watch

31:09this to even be with her.

31:12Lord have mercy. I got to hurry up and

31:14close. Piper's wife didn't ask one time.

31:18The Bible says after some time, she kept

31:20pursuing him.

31:22And you're thinking about her pursuing

31:24him in terms of lust. Make it bigger

31:26than that. All of us got Piper's wife

31:29coming after us with something else

31:32that's not just going to present itself

31:34to us one time.

31:38It's going to come back over and over

31:41again checking to see if that refusal is

31:44still valid.

31:46I know you said no this time, but what

31:48about tomorrow?

31:52I wish I had time, y'all. Man, listen.

31:54Okay. Okay. I got to make this a book.

31:57I'm I don't know

31:59something. She kept

32:02asking. She kept asking. She kept

32:05pursuing. She kept pursuing. Um the

32:07opportunities kept coming. Uh the

32:10temptation is ever present. Temptation

32:12to be jealous is everpresent. Contation

32:15to covet is ever present. Temptation to

32:18neglect prayer and study is ever

32:20present. Oh, I'm so busy. I got stuff to

32:22do. I got to go to work. And God is

32:23like, "Okay, go to work then. I I I got

32:25to do this." And God's like, "Go ahead,

32:26go do that then." But but you don't

32:28understand that Piper's wife is just

32:30consistently presenting the temptation

32:32in front of us. And God is sitting there

32:34like, "Yo, I thought you was a dream

32:35chaser. I thought you was after my

32:37dream. Look like you after yours."

32:44He said, the text says that Piper's wife

32:47refused to go to bed with her. And watch

32:49this. I'm I got I got to end here. I

32:51have to. He refused to be with her.

32:56Joseph said, "I don't even want to be

33:00where you are."

33:01Now you see that's a different level of

33:03of faithfulness right there. It's not I

33:06need to learn how to handle myself in

33:08the right space. No, no, no, no, no, no,

33:10no, no, no. You're trying to fight

33:13something. You need to be

33:14[Music]

33:16fleeing. It I remember I was the person

33:22in here and they know I'm telling the

33:24truth. I This is not bad. I used to go

33:27to the gym all the time. All the time.

33:30Every morning. 8:00, 9:00 for about two

33:32and a half, three years straight. Cool.

33:35And all of a

33:36sudden, I started noticing something. I

33:40used to do my workout, whatever, me, you

33:42know, we used to go work out and it was

33:45this

33:45woman and I used to say, "Ain't no way

33:49you doing the same workout I'm

33:51doing." Now we working on Come on. I'm

33:56220bs. I'm building muscle. Ain't no way

34:00we got the same. This you're a personal

34:02trainer. We're not training the same

34:04way.

34:05I was trying to figure out how in the

34:08world you keep going to the same

34:11machines that's right next to me. I'm

34:15living leg press 400 something pounds.

34:18She leg pressed 35

34:21pounds. I said I said, "Well, what in

34:24the world?" I said, "Well, let me see

34:25something. Let me go over here." I went

34:26to, you know, the pull down. I'm like,

34:28you're not doing this

34:34now. Say, you know what? Let me do

34:36something that ain't even on the script.

34:39Something I don't even do. I don't even

34:40do deadlifts like picking up. I said,

34:43you got to be kidding

34:44me. Say, you know what? You can have the

34:47whole gym. I'll go make my own.

34:51[Applause]

34:53If I'm lying, I'm flying. It's your gym.

34:56Yeah, I'm not fighting something.

34:58Sometime I got to run from something.

35:00And some of us are trying to fight

35:02something that we're not strong enough

35:04to fight.

35:09You trying to throw hands with the

35:10devil.

35:14You You can listen. Y'all need to text

35:16some people say, "You know what? You can

35:18have the whole job. I'm looking for

35:19another one.

35:21There's too much temptation around you.

35:28Okay, 20 seconds

35:31left. I haven't even gotten to what I

35:34planned on getting to.

35:36The reality is is that we need to start

35:40knowing when to fight and knowing when

35:44to flee.

35:47Some of the cycles we we are

35:48consistently in, it's because we trying

35:51to fight something you need to be

35:52running from. But I ain't soft. Okay.

35:55You still stuck though.

36:01That too real for us. And again, the

36:03Piper's wife represents not only just

36:07lust of the flesh in terms of sexual

36:10immorality. Piper's wife can represent

36:12whatever is lusting after you and me and

36:14us.

36:16You can have it. P. Joseph said, "I

36:19don't want to lay with you." Let me be

36:20clear. You see how clear he was? He

36:22wasn't leaving it halfway open. Some of

36:24y'all got this just in case anointing.

36:26Like y'all like a fire alarm, you know,

36:28in case a fire alarm break the glass,

36:30you don't close somebody completely off

36:32because just in case you get

36:34[Music]

36:36Nobody is buying the book

36:38today. I should have said this message

36:40for another

36:42Sunday. But if I'm your pastor, it's my

36:46job to tell you this. It's my job to

36:48show this in the scripture. I'm not in

36:50position to get likes and shares. I I

36:52don't care about that. I promise you, if

36:54it was two people in here, I'd be

36:55preaching the same way. I'd be laughing

36:56at my own jokes.

36:59Some somebody got to tell us this

37:00because we're not getting to the place

37:02we want to go spiritually and we keep

37:05stumbling over stuff.

37:07So, so dream chasers, understand

37:11something. Dreamchasers not only steward

37:15um what's in their pockets, they steward

37:19their

37:21presence. That there are some places I'm

37:24not even going. I don't want the invite.

37:27I'm not even mad you didn't invite me. I

37:30wasn't going anyway.

37:34All right. Some of us are still getting

37:36upset about people not allowing us into

37:39spaces we shouldn't be in anyway.

37:45They ain't even telling me about it.

37:47Good.

37:48Maybe they see the favor on you that you

37:51don't see yet.

37:57I don't even want to be in that

37:58conversation. Y'all have it. Y'all have

38:00that group chat without me.

38:07Only at the fresh church.

38:10Somebody got a fan over there,

38:14y'all. Where them fans

38:16at? Where them fans? All

38:20right. I don't even want to be in the

38:23same

38:25environment. You You can You can have

38:28it because the Bible says this in Psalms

38:3113. Watch this. It's going to mess you

38:33up. Psalm 13 is right here on the

38:35screen. 2021. Walk with the wise and

38:37become wise. But a companion of fools

38:41suffers harm.

38:44Disaster pursues

38:46sinners, but the righteous are rewarded

38:49with good.

38:51This scripture is a picture of

38:53Joseph. Walk with the wise and become

38:56wise, but a companion of fools suffers

38:59harm. Meaning, I don't even have to be a

39:02fool in order to suffer harm. I just

39:04have to hang with them.

39:06If I'm hanging with fools, their foolish

39:08behavior is going to rub off on me, the

39:11dreamchaser.

39:14So, what Joseph's brothers didn't

39:17understand is

39:19that when they put him in the pit, they

39:22helped

39:25him. When they put him in the pit, they

39:27helped him. They got him

39:30away from foolish people, his brothers.

39:36They man, if I had time, if I had time,

39:39I would tell you how God orchestrated a

39:42pit to separate Joseph from people that

39:46Joseph would have never separated

39:48himself from.

39:52So God had to let Joseph go through some

39:54stuff.

39:55Watch this. Watch this. Uhoh. Joseph

40:00ran, refused to, and said, I don't want

40:03to come to bed with you. I'm

40:06good. I don't even want to be with you.

40:10So, let's see what her response is.

40:12Verse number 11 and 12. One day, he went

40:15into the house to do his work and uh one

40:20of the uh household and none of the

40:21household servants were there. Verse

40:23number 12. She grabbed him by his

40:25clothes and said, "Come to bed with me,

40:31but he ran

40:33outside, left his clothes in her

40:36hand." Do you understand what Joseph

40:39just did? Joseph understood the power of

40:43protecting his character.

40:46That if something was going to be

40:48brought on him, they would have to just

40:50make it up.

40:53Oh god. They would have to come up with

40:56their own narrative. They they would

40:58have to literally lie. She said, "Come

41:00lie in the bed with me." That's

41:02literally what she did. She lied on

41:04Joseph. So So So I'm getting ahead of

41:06myself. So So So some of us need to run.

41:08Stop trying to fight. Stop trying to

41:10fight and run. Cut off the relationship.

41:12Cut off the bad the bad deal. Not just

41:14romantic relationship. I'm talking about

41:16social relationships as well. I'm

41:18talking about the relationship that we

41:20have with certain things as well, y'all.

41:23All right,

41:25she grabbed his coat and uh Okay, I'm

41:31done when I tell you this. She grabbed

41:33his coat. She grabbed his coat. The

41:36brothers when they wanted to try to do

41:40something to Joseph, they grabbed his

41:42coat, threw him in the pit. Fast

41:44forward. Piper's wife, when she wanted

41:47to do something negative to Joseph, she

41:50grabbed his coat. The brothers grabbed

41:53his coat and thought that it was over

41:56for him. Piper's wife grabbed his coat

41:59and thought that it was over for him.

42:02She came up with a lie because she

42:04thought she had something on him.

42:07But she didn't understand that the thing

42:09that got Joseph to where he was was not

42:11what he had on him. is who he had in

42:13him.

42:18So Joseph in no uncertain terms was

42:21saying you can take whatever you want to

42:24take from

42:25me. Piper's w you can take whatever you

42:29want to take. You can have the job. You

42:31can have the relationship. You can have

42:34the money. You can have the position.

42:36You can have the influence. You can have

42:38the impact. You can have the network.

42:41You can have all of that stuff because

42:43that stuff does not define who I am. The

42:47favor is not the stuff. The favor is the

42:50substance. And greater is he that's

42:53within me that.

42:57So you can have that,

43:01but you can't have this.

43:05You can't have who I am.

43:08You can have that.

43:11But you can't have this. My integrity,

43:14my character. And now here's the thing.

43:17Here's the thing. When you look at the

43:19text,

43:20um, Joseph maintaining his character

43:23cost him

43:24something because you're going to have

43:26to always choose. What do you want? The

43:29applause of man or the affirmation of

43:32God. So she lied on Joseph. Joseph get

43:35thrown in prison. And there's some other

43:36stuff that happens. And everywhere

43:38Joseph went, he rose to the

43:41top. Everything they tried to do to him

43:43didn't work. Why? Because he kept his

43:46character. Character is not

43:49perfection. It's not perfection. It's

43:51not, "Oh, I ain't never did anything

43:53wrong, man.

43:54Please, come on, man. This ain't that,

43:56church. Come on. You, we are human.
