Intro

0:00hello lovely people many producers ask

0:04me how I create and process my baselines

0:06so yeah I decided to reveal one of my

0:09techniques how I process create and

0:11process my swampy senones Bush brogy

0:15style of Bas

0:17[Music]

0:24lights and before we dive into it let me

0:26tell you something this is just one of

0:28many many techniques which by the way I

0:30show all in detail in my coaching and

0:32mentoring programs and in my classes

0:34where we dive deep into sound design and

0:36processing and producing and everything

0:39um because you know I think I for

0:43example I started more than 20 years ago

0:45with music production by the way with

0:47with reason one and back in the days we

0:49had no YouTube tutorials and master

0:51classes and stuff like this some just

0:53some uh self- teing and yeah tips and

0:56tricks from Friends nowadays I think we

0:58are we are overwhelmed by this content

1:01and don't get me wrong amazing content

1:03content amazing creators out there but

1:06especially in the beginning stage it is

1:08just overwhelming you watch so many

1:11YouTube tutorials you have so much

1:12informations in your head and then when

1:14you sit in your studio studing your door

1:16Ableton for example bitwig whatever then

1:19you are overwhelmed and you don't know

1:20where to start and this is the reason

1:22why I found my wlang academy uh because

1:26yeah it is yeah it is super helpful to

1:28have a mentor or somebody who takes you

1:30by the hand and guides you through all

1:31these processes and somebody whom you

1:33can ask everything where we dive deep

1:36into music and this is really important

1:38where we work on your unique signature

1:41sound because watching all these

1:43tutorials and master classes is kind of

1:45just yeah copying Styles and this is

1:48nothing we want to do we want to find

1:51our own unique signature sound and I

1:53think so everybody has inside his or her

1:56own uh unique signature sound and I can

2:00tell you there's no better feeling than

2:02playing your own music production on big

2:05speakers on a festival and sending the

2:07crowd onto an amazing JY uh and an un an

2:12unforgettable JY with your music this is

2:15yeah the best feeling honestly and this

2:18is the reason why I'm doing coaching and

2:20mentoring to work on your sound and dive

2:23deep into music and show you everything

2:26what is needed for professional music

2:28production but enough about this uh just

2:30wanted to talk about the yeah this

2:34masses of content on of YouTube tutorial

2:37so this is also just one technique to

2:39show you to give you an idea how you can

2:43create baselines for example so let's

Bass Creation (Serum)

2:46dive in and create some amazing swampy

2:49senones uh Bush brogy Baseline

2:52style so this is what we going to create

2:55today

2:59[Music]

3:11okay pretty nice pretty nice so what I

3:15do here

3:17is one of my presets from my first

3:19operations um serum preset pack this is

3:23the forest clung one Baseline preset

3:27patch and it sounds like this

3:31[Music]

3:34nice one nice one so yeah of course this

3:39is let's go here to C we can create

3:43something and let me mute this yeah it's

3:46already here uh with a baseline like

3:48this we can do some off bit

3:53Baseline okay but this is not what we

3:55want to create today we do something

3:58like this we create a midi clip and midi

4:02notes at the

4:05one and the first important step and I

4:09have this at the end of my chain is and

4:11I'm working with LFO tool for side

4:14chaining uh yes there is sing

4:16compressing there are a lot of different

4:18techniques I like to do this with LFO

4:22tool because it has the cleanest sound

4:25so I can do something like this this is

4:27the first 32th note where the kick is

4:30played and so I totally mute here the

4:34Baseline so the kick can come through

4:36really really nice and let me just go

4:40here on the kick and

4:45base already sounds nice with the LFO

4:48tool and side chaining it is super

4:50important where you put your yeah your

4:54side chain because it sounds differently

4:57so than so

5:00[Music]

5:04yeah you already see and can hear brings

5:09for example much more swing into it when

5:11you do a uh slower side

5:16chain what we then additionally can do

5:19is for example let's go here and put

5:23this mid note on the two so on the

5:28second 16th

5:29[Music]

5:35note can sound nice with this when you

5:38don't want to have here this kind of

5:41clicky um transient then yeah let's

5:46manipulate here the reset the patch and

5:49let's do a slower

5:57attack pretty nice pretty nice

6:01here in this patch um I have for example

6:07the envelope 2 mapped to the cut off

6:09here where we also can work around and

6:13play around with the

6:15[Music]

6:26attack like so for example

6:31then we can of course do much more U

6:35manipulations here uh really nice trick

6:38what I love to do is let's map here the

6:41LFO one to the cut off let's do bolar by

6:46clicking option and shift or you could

6:48change this also here u l all tool to

6:51the filter cut off now it's bolar one

6:54click unipolar let's do bolar you see

6:57it's going up and down so now I bring

7:02here this to the

7:06middle because it's here in the middle

7:09yeah so we can go up and down like here

7:12up and down let's go with for example

7:16two bars and let's gr create here some

7:19dots in

7:22between and so now we can separate them

7:26into quarter nodes

7:31so these are now quarter notes every

7:33time when a kick is and we can

7:35additionally let's go here with a grid

7:37of 16 and create here even more dots in

7:42between to have a little bit more

7:44control because what we going to do is

7:47now

7:49additionally uh manipulate oops

7:51manipulate

7:53the filter cut off for example something

7:58like so

8:01and then the filter cut off is moving

8:16here additionally by the way you can do

8:20much more processing let's for example

8:23go here to that one go right click let's

8:28modate here

8:30uh the Y curve and let's go here with L

8:352 so now L 2 you can see is manipulating

8:38that one

8:41here of course too much so let's do for

8:45example rate Also let's try two

8:53bars always the same so it doesn't make

8:55sense so let's go maybe for four bars

9:12something like this so you can see there

9:14are a lot of possibilities be creative

9:16about that and maybe we also this is

9:20maybe too much for me I want to do this

9:22more subtle so I bring this a little bit

9:25down here

9:38great

9:40amazing so you can see already a nice

9:43with some techniques uh nice nice uh

9:46Baseline um when you have my preset back

9:50you can also see I divided here the

9:53patch into subir harmonic and harmonic

9:56so I can also go here and check a little

10:00bit the subs and the first harmonica do

10:03this now with my midi um um MIDI

10:06controller here let's turn it

10:11[Music]

10:20off something like

10:23this all

10:25right then

10:29what I'm doing here with my

10:32processing and by the way LFO tool you

10:34can bring it in the beginning you can

10:36bring it on the end I always have it on

10:38the end of my chain but this is really

10:40up to you there is yeah subtle

Processing the Bass

10:45differences then I always put saturation

10:48on it I love the saton to so I put the

10:50saturation saton on with no uh with the

10:54default setting it already saturates and

10:57colors the sound and then here a second

11:00one I love the warm tube base um and

11:03that's yeah one of the presets here uh

11:08from sat and two and of course you can

11:12[Music]

11:16also

11:18much play around here with

11:21[Music]

11:25this let again just kick and base

11:30and yeah by the way never create and

11:33touch a

11:34sound by itself always listen in

11:38comparison so uh only kick uh only the

11:42Baseline I can do here

11:46settings and maybe it sounds good but I

11:49don't know if it really fits for example

11:51in comparison together with kick with

11:53the kick

12:08let's do something like this now um

12:12after

12:13saturation there are different

12:15possibilities you can bring in a vitamin

12:17for example another saturation I also

12:20love the arbas here uh we are in c minor

12:24so I go with around

12:2665 Hertz and do the plus subtle

12:31because that's too

12:33much

12:35so bring it let's bring it down and

12:38introduce it

12:49subtly for example like

12:53so the transic is also nice from wave

12:57sometimes not always

13:04love it more for plugy Bas lines uh

13:08really nice trick is to the

13:11disperser from

13:13kilohertz it's a yeah a all pass

13:24filter already sounds nice here it's on

13:27C3 we are in C Minor let's go to C2

13:30let's listen to

13:36that well I love C3 more here let's go

13:39to

13:40C3 here you have the amount and here you

13:43can pinch

13:57it yeah sounds great sounds great like

14:01this a really nice thing is the PQ this

14:06is kind of the yeah Special maybe not

14:10secret trick uh but uh yeah many

14:14producers don't know it uh this is a

14:17emulation of an old EQ from the 1950s

14:201951 something like this and yeah the

14:24nice thing about it it has its own

14:27coloring inside so a really special

14:30unique coloring we can't do this with a

14:32digital EQ like a br Q4 here we can um

14:38yeah we can boost here the low end 20 30

14:4160 and 100 Hertz uh we can boost them

14:44and do a tenu and here we have from 3K

14:48to 60k uh 16k we can also boost them and

14:54play around with an a tenu

15:17here with this Baseline uh because it's

15:19falling down you can see

15:22here it's going down and down and down

15:25and for example here in the 3K area uh

15:29there is not much information about uh

15:31in the Baseline

15:33so boosting this area maybe with the PQ

15:37doesn't make that much sense there is

15:39also a mid EQ from the PQ uh which you

15:44can

15:45uh which you can try out but uh yeah I'm

15:49good with that one

15:51now and then it's about low cutting it

15:56and

16:07do something like this by the way

16:09important is when you have the BR Q4 go

16:12with the Tilt 4.5 DP per active this is

16:16the the yeah

16:17realistic most realistic uh visual

16:22feedback and you can see here by default

16:25I think so it is on on zero DP

16:30seems that the Baseline is like

16:3490p louder so let's go to 4.5 DP per

16:41octave and this is the realistic thing

16:44and you can save this as default so

16:47every time you open up your pro Q4 it is

16:49on the right setting

16:54here and then it's about gain staging so

16:59bring it one to De be lower than the

17:01kick this is too loud of

17:11course yeah

17:15perfect and again just kick and base

17:24here all right and this is a simple

17:26technique how to create some nice swamp

17:29style and of course we can now and in

17:32comparison what I've done

17:36before or that

17:39one pretty much the same isn't it

17:43so

17:45um let's go with the new one here subtle

17:50changes what we can also do of course is

Layering Basslines

17:54now

17:55[Music]

17:59layer it with another Baseline here

18:02let's go with this one this is a preset

18:04from my upcoming preset

18:06pack the first operations volume two

18:11well is this possible H first volume two

18:15well let's

18:18see let's layer this for example with a

18:22baseline like

18:24[Music]

18:27that and of course of course we have

18:29kind of frequency masking problems uh

18:32what I can do here now is with this

18:35second Baseline I

18:37can do a higher low

18:41[Music]

18:44cut yeah but it doesn't sound good

18:46anymore isn't it so there are different

18:51possibilities I show you two tricks here

18:55first is let's put in an here on

18:59this uh let's let's call it the sub

19:02channel here um on this dark red one

19:07here the first B Baseline we created so

19:11let's name it subbase for example um I

19:17put in here a track spacer and the track

19:19spacer from waves Factory is really nice

19:22so I uh root now the first Baseline here

19:27the or base from serum root into this

19:31subbase and make a side chain

19:33information so let me see where is it uh

19:38it is that one

19:40here and here I can now go there's this

19:46little uh blue ring dot thing here I'd

19:50go with a fast attack and a fastest

19:52release something like this and then

19:55also here I can decide which area I want

19:58to side chain let's go with the hole and

20:01here we have the

20:04[Music]

20:11amount super nice super simple so every

20:13time here we have a med information from

20:16this Baseline that Baseline here is

20:18stucked super simple super nice track

20:20spacer amazing one and another

20:23possibility is to work for example with

20:25a bro q and let's go with the

20:30Q4 and I do the same I send now um the

20:36midi information from this Baseline here

20:39into the sub Baseline side chain input

20:43and let's go here with that

20:46one and let's go with

20:50a for example I put this by the way

20:54before I have my bro with the low cut so

20:59I put this here and you can try this for

21:02example let's go with a low shelf let's

21:06make it

21:08Dynamic for um so now it is simply

21:13Dynamic yeah okay but when you open up

21:16here this arrow and click on this little

21:18white knob here then we activate the

21:21external side chain input so now this is

21:25only working when on this channel here

21:29when we have a media information from

21:31here and with bro4 it is amazing because

21:34now we have a attack and release um

21:38possibility to change the attack and

21:40release sadly in percentages I don't get

21:43it why been nice to have it in

21:46milliseconds but okay another topic you

21:48can by the way watch my bro Q4 um

21:53review and my honest review honest talk

21:56about if this broke you for is really

21:59worth it the money or not and or the

22:01hype whatever yeah so because there are

22:05some some things I don't honestly I

22:07don't really get about the Roki 4 I

22:09don't understand but yeah okay watch the

22:12video I will link this

22:16here so you can see now uh and you can

22:20also hear it every time there is a media

22:22information we duck this Baseline

22:26[Music]

22:33something like this you can also try um

22:35with a bell but uh this is I think so

22:38low shelf is really nice

22:42and you can also go here and play with

22:45the

22:52threshold yeah

23:00so this is pretty nice and it is pretty

23:02simple and uh pretty effective so yeah I

23:06hope you like this video and it is

23:08helpful for you and you have now a

23:10little bit more understanding how you

23:12can do Styles like this and process your

23:16baselines and yeah please guys uh

23:19comment what you think about it and uh

23:21what you want to see next hit the Bell

23:23button subscribe follow me share it you

23:26know how it is working it helps me a lot

23:28so I can do more videos like this and as

23:31I said it is only one technique if

23:34you're interested in more hit me up as I

23:37said we're going to have a free call

23:38we're going to talk about my classes and

23:42everything yeah and let's create some

23:46awesome nice bangers for the dance floor

23:50because as I said there is no better

23:52feeling than sending the crowd on the

23:54Dance Floor to an amazing Unforgettable

23:57Journey with your own own music your own

24:00signature sound all right have a

24:02wonderful day guys happy producing and

24:05remember always stay musically boom boom
