0:07number seven rainy day
0:13one weekend mum had to work a shift at
0:15the hospital
0:16and dad had loads of marking to do which
0:19meant that neither of them had time to
0:21look after joe and bella
0:23but joe and bella didn't mind they were
0:26going to spend the weekend with gran
0:28and gran had promised to take them to
0:30the beach
0:32there was just one problem when they
0:35woke up on saturday morning
0:37and looked out of the window the rain
0:39was sheeting down
0:41bella pressed her nose against the glass
0:43and said hopefully
0:45we can still go can't we
0:49but when gran arrived to collect them it
0:52was still
0:52pouring and grande said they would just
0:55have to spend the day at her house
0:56instead
0:58it rained and rained they watched a
1:02movie on tv
1:03and when they stopped it was still
1:05raining
1:07they played cards with gran and when
1:09they stopped it was still
1:11raining they did some homework
1:14ready for monday and when they stopped
1:17it was still raining
1:20they tried taking gran's dog selby for a
1:23walk
1:23but when they opened the door selby took
1:26one look
1:27whined and ran back inside again
1:30eventually gran went off to do some
1:33housework
1:34joe decided to do more homework he had
1:37tests coming up at school
1:38and mom and dad were always on at him to
1:40work harder
1:42but bella was too little to worry about
1:44tests
1:46i'm bored she said
1:50i hate this weather
1:53there's nothing we can do about it said
1:55joe
1:56you'll just have to make the best of it
1:59bella stomped off
2:01joe wasn't paying much attention to her
2:03he was too busy with his maths
2:08after a while though he noticed a
2:10banging and thumping from the kitchen
2:13what was bella up to he got
2:17up and looked round the door bella was
2:19mixing something in a huge mixing bowl
2:23what's that joe asked it's a lovely cake
2:28said bella happily but you can't have
2:30any
2:31that's a relief said joe because it
2:34looks
2:35terrible and it smells worse
2:38the cake mixture had all kinds of lumps
2:41in it
2:42and the smell was like no cake that joe
2:44had ever smelled before
2:46it's not for humans said bella it's for
2:50dogs
2:51i've made it especially for selby
2:53because he couldn't go for his walk
2:56what's it got in it joe asked
2:59dog food said bella silly
3:03and it's got cornflakes because selby
3:05loves corn flakes
3:06and yogurt because selby loves yogurt
3:09and toast and biscuits and tinned rice
3:11pudding
3:13joe was feeling queasy just thinking
3:16about it
3:18well i hope selby likes it he said
3:21but selby didn't like it when bella put
3:25it down on the floor for him to eat
3:28raw because she said it would taste
3:30better that way selby took
3:32one sniff and then ran out of the room
3:35bella burst into tears gran came running
3:39into the kitchen
3:41oh dear what is the matter bella she
3:44asked it's
3:46raining bella howald
3:50is never going to stop we can't go to
3:53the beach and now
3:55selfie doesn't like my cake
4:02joe didn't say anything but he knew how
4:05bella felt
4:07it was turning into a horrible day
4:11now then said gran things aren't that
4:15bad why don't we do something to cheer
4:18ourselves up
4:20like what sniffed bella
4:24how about we make cake as a surprise for
4:27your parents
4:28a cake for humans not for dogs
4:31after all they've been working hard all
4:34day
4:36can we eat some too asked bella
4:40of course you can said gran
4:44and can it be chocolate sponge ask joe
4:47with chocolate fudge icing asked bella
4:50and sprinkles
4:53it certainly can said gran
4:55[Music]
4:57they had a lovely time making the cake
4:59and when they had finished decorating it
5:02they suddenly realized that it wasn't
5:03raining anymore
5:05they had been so busy they hadn't even
5:07noticed
5:09quick let's get out while the sun's
5:11shining
5:12said gran they took selby down to the
5:16park
5:17and when they got back mom and dad had
5:19arrived
5:20everybody was just ready for a slice of
5:23cake
