0:00Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers Dynasty Podcast with Borg, Betz, and a baller.

0:30Welcome in, my friends.

0:36It's Wednesday, October 7th, Fantasy Footballers Dynasty Podcast.

0:44That's all you got?

0:45That's all I got. I'm feeling good.

0:47I feel like normally you always like to say, welcome into the Dynasty Podcast.

0:51We got Betts and Jason this week.

0:53There was nothing, just welcome into the Dynasty Podcast.

0:56You just took care of it, Betts.

0:58Thank you. Well, sometimes I got to clean up Kyle's messes. You know how it is.

1:02Actually, the way that I think about it is in a good relationship, you got to keep the other person on their toes.

1:07You know, like if you've been married for a while, you can't like, like your spouse should not expect the exact same thing all the time.

1:14That's true.

1:15Never, never let her see anything coming.

1:19Just surprise her every single day with something wild.

1:24Right? That's your relationship advice?

1:25Yes. That is actually, you know, if you got to keep things fresh, like that's the way to do it.

1:30And I hope this long podcasting together, like you guys would say that I'm not the same boring person.

1:37No, you're my girl. We'll surprise you.

1:40See, I wasn't ready for that one.

1:43Yeah, see, I just surprised you.

1:45There you go.

1:47No, I guess it's a compliment.

1:49I left you speechless.

1:50I don't really know how to respond to that.

1:51You're my girl.

1:52There you go.

1:53On this podcast, we will do a little weekly rewind to talk about some players that we watched on film.

1:59Then we're going to do a little draft together.

2:02We're going to draft the top 12 play callers through the NFL.

2:05And I think we did not talk about our process going into this.

2:08So maybe you guys weigh heavily the first four weeks and you say, this is it.

2:14Or I know this guy.

2:16I know what they've done in the NFL, their body of work.

2:18I can tell you right now.

2:21Before the season, Mike McDaniel would have been a little bit higher on my list.

2:25Yeah.

2:25Yeah, he, man, you want to talk about the fall from grace seen as a genius.

2:33He is now getting lambasted everywhere.

2:38Videos ripped apart.

2:40Film ripped apart from former NFL players, from fantasy nerds, from every which way.

2:47Everything they're doing seems very, very bad.

2:53Very, very bad.

2:56What's so funny is like thinking about Harbaugh and his philosophy and his old school mentality and, you know, the wide receiver gloves and warmups and he wears cleats on the sidelines.

3:07Then you got this, you know, skinny capri wearing designer shoes.

3:14Maybe we should have seen this coming.

3:16Maybe we should have seen this coming.

3:18These two wouldn't jive.

3:19But, oh, man, he's fascinating because if we did this a month ago, he's probably like top five for a lot of us, for most people.

3:26Now it's like.

3:27Easily top ten.

3:28Yeah. How do you, now how do you adjust to that?

3:31So, oh, man, the NFL is wild.

3:33You know, Kyle, you talked about surprises.

3:35The NFL always surprises us.

3:36And this is a great example.

3:38Right now I'm looking at their metrics.

3:39And there is one spot where they're doing OK.

3:43They're top ten in explosive rush rate.

3:45But it seems like they don't want to use their best, most explosive player.

3:49I know Keaton Mitchell's explosive, but like, come on.

Omarion Hampton

3:52Come on.

3:53It's infuriating.

3:55As someone who made Hampton a my guy, it is infuriating.

3:58I had this thought on the drive to work today.

4:00You want to hear my thought?

4:01Because I didn't share this on the main podcast.

4:03Surprise. Please.

4:05I had the thought that in a dynasty league.

4:08So this is, I mean, I didn't share it there because this is very dynasty specific.

4:13In about four or five weeks, because we know the schedule coming up for the Chargers.

4:17It's just brutal.

4:19It's awful.

4:20We see that this system is becoming a very three-headed monster.

4:25I mean, you had 25, 25, and 26 snaps for the three running backs.

4:29It was, I mean, it's just awful.

4:33In assuming that that continues, which as of right now, it feels like it will.

4:39The, you know, Harbaugh came out and said, we think that's what's best for our team.

4:42That was the change that was made.

4:46And their schedule coming up is brutal.

4:47They're going to lose games.

4:48They're not going to be up running the clock out with Hampton, you know, in the four-minute

4:53drill more than probably one time at most over the next, you know, month and a half.

4:58I'm going to trade for Hampton in about four to six weeks in dynasty leagues because I am

5:07firmly, like, I will not be convinced he's not a very good player.

5:12He is an awesome player.

5:14They've got the draft capital.

5:15When he touches the ball, he is better than their other two running backs.

5:19And that's not even, that's not to say something negative about Keaton Mitchell or Kamani Vidal.

5:25They're, they're both good players in their own right.

5:28Well, Marian Hampton, I think is a very, very good player.

5:32That's my opinion.

5:34Um, and if that's the case and things keep going very poorly for this offense, as McDaniel

5:42is trying to figure out how do I get the chargers to be competent at some point in time, people

5:50are fired.

5:51Things get changed.

5:53And systems don't work.

5:56If you end up as the chargers, as this team that's 0 and 7, uh, 1 and 6, or whatever the

6:04case is, I mean, it's not going to be much better than that.

6:08There will be changes.

6:09And I'm going to bet on the talent of a Marian Hampton, the age, the talent.

6:14And so, and obviously that comes with the fact that I'm hoping I can acquire this player

6:19affordably because, Hey, it looks like he's not going to be the real deal.

6:24I just don't think his career is going to be a committee back.

6:28I totally agree.

6:29We actually had a question on the website, uh, that came in earlier that I was looking

6:33at. It was from Samuel and he was just asking about Hampton and I was sorting through our

6:38rankings. So, you know, our dynasty rankings, we talked about this last week on a slider.

6:42You can look at win now balanced, or if you're taking a long-term approach.

6:45And it seems like if you're one of those teams that also started out 0 and 4, 1 and 3, whatever

6:51it is.

6:51And you get to a point where you want to be able to look towards the future.

6:54Like he seems like a really good target.

6:56And that was one of the ways that you can identify it.

6:58Like using our rankings that you can find if you're an ultimate foot clan member.

7:02And, uh, right now for long-term and balanced builds, we're saying he's still a top 10 running

7:07back.

7:08But if you're win now, then maybe somebody sees him as like, ah, he's not quite that.

7:12I'm not in the spot where I can use him.

7:14So I think he's a great target.

7:16And that's kind of like what I want to give people like these rankings.

7:19You can identify where you're at and identify like different targets like that.

7:23So I'm totally in, but I don't know if Mike just has a bad taste in his mouth about Hampton

7:28because he will just slowly send me just negative things over and over and over again.

7:32Mike, Mike, Mike very much does not like Hampton.

7:35This was a, sometimes there are like pre NFL draft.

7:39We have our takes that stand out as different from the consensus.

7:44And when we have those, um, kind of more Island opinions, we desperately want them to be right.

7:53He was not a big Hampton fan, um, of, of his film.

7:57He wasn't, uh, as bullish on him as most people, including the NFL were on the film.

8:03Andy and I were, were, uh, big Hampton believers.

8:07And so right now it certainly appears that Mike was right.

8:12Um, you know, he's maybe, maybe, maybe the issue is that Hampton is not good enough to be that guy.

8:18And so they're trying to figure this out and bring Camino Vidal in and bring Keaton Mitchell.

8:22And I mean, that, that's the path that it looks like right now.

8:26And that could be the case.

8:28Um, I, I don't believe that for one second.

8:30I don't not even, I, I won't even entertain the, the idea of believing in that for one second.

8:36What would a fair offer be for Hampton right now?

8:39If you are not a contender and you're willing to kind of ride the, you know, tricky next eight plus weeks with this team and look ahead to next year.

8:48A first, a first and a second.

8:49Yeah. I mean, no, I, I think, I think a first, I think if you were to offer a first right now, it's, you know, look, everybody's hot and bothered for 20, 27 first.

8:58And this is of course, assuming that you are not, if you've got one of the, if you've got a bad team and you've got a chance at one of those top picks or, you know, goodness gracious.

9:09If you've got the chance at the number one pick, which I think this might be the best number one pick we're going to have in a long while.

9:16Um, obviously don't offer that, but if you're a decent team, uh, a playoff team where Hampton can help you, uh, I would, I would personally definitely offer my 27 first straight up for, for Hampton.

9:28And I think that if you did that before the season, you had 0.0 chance of getting that to go through.

9:35And if you do it now, I think you've got a 25% chance of getting that to go through.

9:40If you do it four weeks from now, if it continues like this, I think you'll have a 50% chance of having it go through.

9:48Um, you know, and that's, you know, the, the dynasty world is all marketplace and, and values of who's up, who's down and, uh, trying to capitalize.

10:00You're not, sometimes it's worth trading for someone high because they're just that good.

10:06You know, if you, if you go and pay up for a JSN, a Brock Bowers, it's probably going to still work out because at the end you get JSN or Brock Bowers, you know, you, you get that dude.

10:16Um, but outside of that, you really are trying to trade for people when their value looks low.

10:22I mean, right.

10:23You're not, that's, that's the only way that you get to more squeeze out of the juice, more juice out of the squeeze.

10:29I think that's better.

Weekly Rewind

10:30We got there.

10:31More squeeze out of the juice.

10:33More squeeze out of the juice.

10:35All right.

10:36Moving on.

10:40Weekly Rewind.

10:44Every week we rewind the film and watch tape on a specific player situation, dive a little deeper.

10:49Betts, you had the joy of watching a quarterback that does not like throwing it down the field.

Bo Nix

10:54Yeah.

10:56It was a tough watch this week for the Broncos offense with, uh, Bo Nix and, you know, just

11:01kind of taking a step back from him as a prospect and in his rookie year, I think the thing that

11:05made him so successful early on is that he had a bunch of experience in college.

11:09He started a ton of games across a couple of different schools and he had all that experience

11:13came in with a good player caller and Sean Payton and kind of hit the ground running for

11:17a rookie quarterback.

11:19But, and I don't mean this to say this in a bad way, his game fit very well with Sean

11:23Payton right away where it was like, get the ball out quick.

11:25You know, we're going to get a bunch of screens.

11:27We're going to give you a bunch of easy button targets, get the ball out in the short area

11:30of the field, let your players go to work.

11:32And while that is still what he is doing now, he used to do the last couple of years that

11:37keeping the chains moving, keeping the offense on schedule, but also the huge shot plays

11:41so that defense has had to respect that short area of the field.

11:45Right now, there are no deep targets.

11:48You know, his deep ball rate by season has decreased.

11:50In 2024, it was 11%.

11:51That was 14th in the NFL.

11:53In 2025, last year, it was 12th in the NFL among quarterbacks.

11:58This year, it's at 19th among quarterbacks.

12:00He's currently 28th in air yards per pass attempt.

12:03So watching this game against the Niners, which, you know, they're lacking pass rushers right

12:06now. They've got injuries defensively.

12:08Like, it's an on-paper matchup where you would expect things to open up and be able

12:12to take those shots down the field, but he's not doing it.

12:16And the scheme isn't really, like, asking him to do it.

12:18Like, when I think about, you know, these Cortland Sutton sideline shot plays, they're

12:22just not there.

12:23When I think about Jalen Waddell and how that could fit in this scheme, I think about him

12:27on crossers over the middle of the field and how he could just run away from defenders.

12:30It's not there right now.

12:31So looking at his kind of, you know, film and passing map of where he completed passes, it's,

12:37it looks like Jalen Hurts, you know, like nothing in the middle of the field.

12:40It's all on the sideline.

12:41It's all short right now.

12:42So, man, it was tough.

12:44You know, this year between the numbers, four of 12, he's only attempted 12 passes between

12:47the numbers in the entire season, which is just kind of crazy in today's zone-based scheme.

12:52Like, you have to hit those throws, those timing throws for your offense to stay on schedule.

12:55So I don't know if it's a Knicks thing this year, if it's still the offense trying to figure

12:59out how to best use Jalen Waddell.

13:01Well, if it's just a new play caller that, you know, doesn't have the experience or what

13:05it is, but I have to think at some point, Sean Payton is going to look at this and be

13:09like, this is not good enough.

13:10Like, this is not what I, my offenses are.

13:13And so I'm hopeful this can improve in the near future, but it was a tough watch in this

13:18past week's game against the Niners.

13:20What is the identity of this Broncos offense?

13:24Like I was trying to think, what is it that they do really well other than throwing to the

13:27running back?

13:29Cause I, I literally could not tell you when I was doing the rankings of the

13:32offensive coordinators, like Davis Webb is buried.

13:35And I was like, behind the scenes, like maybe they're running a ton of play action.

13:39It's not working.

13:39Nope.

13:40Motion 24th, nothing explosive.

13:44There's just nothing at all in their metrics.

13:48And then what I've seen on film that just says this stands out about the team, considering

13:52they acquired Jalen Waddell an explosive player.

13:54So it's, it's frustrating.

13:56He was getting so many head coaching interviews like last year.

14:01And they keep saying that they gave him play calling duties to keep him on staff, but I

14:07don't know if that's going to continue.

14:09Yeah.

14:09I don't, I don't know.

14:10Do you think that they, do you think cause Sean Payton, I think Sean Payton is a, is a,

14:16you know, he wasn't on my list today because I think we, we called this play callers, right?

14:21So he's not a current, he's not currently a play caller, which is ironic because he,

14:26he is still a play caller and he's there and would be higher up, uh, certainly than Davis

14:31Webb, but Sean Payton for all of his good, amazing football knowledge, quality pieces

14:38of which he has.

14:39He's also the type that would look at that schedule and be like, Oh my gosh, Kansas city,

14:45Jacksonville, the Rams, the Niners charters, Seattle, Kansas city.

14:51Again, like let's have Davis Webb start the year and then I'll take over halfway through

14:54and be the savior.

14:55Like it just feels like some of the play calling, some of the issues, some of the not throwing

15:02to where we want them to throw the ball to, you know, they, they, they do have a tough,

15:07uh, schedule here to, to open the season, which we talked about before the season.

15:13We knew like, you know, we, Bo Nix seemed like such a value in fantasy that we wanted to

15:21recommend him.

15:22You know, there's a guy who was the quarterback six quarterback seven, and then was drafted

15:24as like the quarterback 15.

15:26But we had a really hard time really recommending them because we knew this opening schedule

15:30was going to be just absolutely brutal.

15:33That's just the, what you do in a job is just offload the really hard stuff to somebody

15:37else. And just somebody else takes the fall.

15:39Yeah.

Denzel Boston

15:40Sean Payton's going to take over in week seven against the Cardinals.

15:42Exactly.

15:44Uh, Jason, you had the chance to watch some Denzel Boston.

15:49I did.

15:50I watched, I wanted to go look at some of these rookies I've been watching after every week,

15:53I've been watching Makai Lemon and I can't do it anymore.

15:56I mean, I'm, I still do it.

15:58It's just like, I'm so frustrated with the Eagles offense right now.

16:01I can't even talk about it.

16:03I'm like literally upset on a personal level.

16:07However, um, I wanted to watch some of the other rookies.

16:10I wanted to see Concepcion.

16:11I want to see Boston.

16:12Um, so I, I went, I specifically watched Boston.

16:15He's obviously looked great the first couple of weeks for fantasy.

16:18He's been a darling above expectation.

16:22He's been, you know, the, the number one fantasy rookie wide receiver on their team,

16:26even though he was drafted in the second.

16:27Uh, but I wanted to see what he was putting on film when he wasn't getting targets, um,

16:32and how his routes were all of, all of the, the whole corpus.

16:36And I was very, very impressed.

16:39Um, they move them around and he's on the left.

16:41He's on the right.

16:41He's not, he's not static.

16:42Like he's an outside boundary guy, but, um, it's not all deep balls, but there were other

16:49plays though, that showed up that just showed like, okay.

16:52Like there's a play that for sure, without a doubt, what is today, Tuesday.

16:58So I think they probably started practice today.

17:01I'm sure they gave him the week off or whatever.

17:04When they went in to watch film today, this was on the reel.

17:09And it was a play that was a running play to the right.

17:13Denzel Boston just basically runs a nine route down the right sideline to just clear out.

17:18He, and, and, and he sprinted.

17:20He, this wasn't one of those Marvin Harrison.

17:22Oh, it's a running play.

17:23So I, you know, I know I'm just kind of just taking a DB.

17:27He was taking that DB.

17:28He was like, I am out of here.

17:30Try to keep up with me.

17:33And then the play took a long time.

17:35It was a, it was a really long, it was the, uh, uh, Jaleel McLaughlin touchdown that happened.

17:42And he kept blocking.

17:44He kept blocking way down the field.

17:47He, his back is to the play.

17:48He has no idea what's going on other than the whistle hasn't blown.

17:52And he blocks his guy after, you know, he was running first to, to get his guy down there.

17:57And then as once enough time has gone on to where he's like, you know, he knows it's not

18:02going to accidentally be a pass play behind me.

18:04I can block.

18:04He starts blocking his guy and he stayed completely engaged.

18:07And had he not done that, that defender would have been right in position to tackle the

18:15surprising running back who was in that area, you know, a couple seconds after the play started.

18:20And it was just like the perfect example.

18:21Like Boston was part of that touchdown.

18:24A touchdown does not happen without him.

18:27Um, and so it was like, that is, that is film room material.

18:31That is head coaches looking at a rookie and saying, okay, dude, this guy's, this guy's got it.

18:36So I was, I mean, I, you're already impressed with the numbers, uh, that he's putting up.

18:41And, and I hate to say this out loud.

18:44One of the things that I took away from watching the Boston film was like, Deshaun Watson played

18:50a good game.

18:51I don't know that he's back.

18:52I don't know that he's good.

18:54You with, you wanted to not say that, but you did.

18:56And that's okay.

18:57But it was like, there were, there were plays where it was like, Boston goes behind his own

19:01coverage and the linebacker drops back and kind of sells on Boston a little bit.

19:06It's like, Oh, that was a, that was a good route by Boston.

19:08I'm thinking, but I was like, okay, the defender was clearly watching for Boston.

19:13And then the ball didn't go to Boston.

19:15The ball went underneath to Fannin where it was like, Oh yeah, but it just where it should

19:19have gone.

19:19And I saw that like four or five times where it was like, Oh,

19:22Oh yeah.

19:23He made the right read.

19:24So I guess this is both a Denzel Boston and a Deshaun Watson film watching.

19:30I mean, you know, depending on your stomach levels, um, if you're in a super flex league,

19:38Deshaun Watson is probably going to be, uh, not maybe someone you can look at, not cared

19:46about, not wanted, um, but might be, uh, worth the, the value of fantasy points.

19:55Gross.

19:56He's running a little bit too.

19:57I'll give you 25, 30 yards on the ground.

20:00Yeah.

20:00I mean, and Todd Monken, like I believe in Todd Monken.

20:04So yeah, we'll see.

20:05We'll see if he shows up in the top 12 today.

20:07We're drafting, uh, these play callers.

20:09We'll see where Monken is.

20:10I remember in our prospect preview, when we talked about Boston, same thing with Carnell

20:14Tate.

20:14Like the thing that came away from watching the tape was these players are more well-rounded

20:20than you realize.

20:21And in today's NFL, you want wide receivers who can block.

20:24And I feel like I was one of the things that just kept showing up in his film, way more

20:28diverse player than we think.

20:30Would you rather have in dynasty Denzel Boston or Jalen Waddle?

20:38I mean, that's probably team dependent.

20:40Okay.

20:42But I would have never said that before the season.

20:44No.

20:45I think I still lean Waddle, but maybe I'm just chasing what we hope is there.

20:49I lean Waddle as well, but it's closer than I would have thought.

20:53Yeah, that is really tough.

20:55I choose not to answer.

20:56Okay. Great question.

20:57Nothing wrong with that.

20:58You're just saying, hey, I don't have any, either of those players.

21:00So you know what?

21:01I don't care.

21:02It's, uh, it's tough.

21:04I wanted to immediately be like, yeah, it's still Waddle.

21:06You got to hold the course.

21:07And I do believe that.

21:08I don't, I don't think that Waddle is going to be uninvolved.

21:13And the wide receiver 48 at the end of the year, they're paying him way too much money.

21:19Um, they'll get that figured out.

21:21But also there's a big age gap.

21:23And if Denzel Boston is just good, maybe if he's not as good as Waddle, you can easily

21:27make an argument that it's, it's worth it to have the youthful guy who's almost as good

21:34now.

21:34But eventually, obviously five years from now, we know Boston should be way better than

Tetairoa McMillan

21:40Waddle then.

21:41Yeah.

21:42I had the chance of rewatching Tedderola McMillan, which I'm assuming both of you.

21:47Congratulations.

21:48Just so fun.

21:49And, and, and part of it is very selfish that Jeremy and I in the ballers main dynasty league.

21:55I mean, our team went off this week.

21:57The worst player in our starting roster was some guy named Jason.

22:00I mean, our team just went bonkers this week and McMillan's on that roster.

22:05And the whole time I'm rewatching this and I'm like, who else is on the field for this

22:10team?

22:11And I was like, I had to go back through.

22:13It's like Bryson Tremaine.

22:15It's John Mechie.

22:16It's a wide receiver last name, Reed.

22:18I have never heard of before.

22:20It's a Google good job.

22:22And it's Darren Waller, Darren Waller out there, but it's, it is like Tedderola McMillan, John

22:27Mechie and nothing else out there.

22:29But the big thing that I want to bring up is just that he ran 33% of his routes from the

22:33slot and that's where he got his touchdowns.

22:35And it was one of those things where we've talked over and over again, the best wide receivers

22:40when they get moved in the slot, like Drake London, whenever CD, like CD plays outside, but

22:45when CD goes in the slot, it's just magic.

22:49This week he was targeted on 45% of his routes inside the slot.

22:53And man, did he have some big time catches, including that one in the fourth quarter that

22:58you've probably seen the highlights, but just the way that that play developed, I thought

23:01there's no chance that one, he caught it or Bryce Young could make that throw.

23:05And they did both of them.

23:07And what I've found too, is like, they're not giving him the routes this year that are

23:12literally just the lowest fantasy routes possible.

23:15The end and the dig route.

23:17He's had the biggest change of any wide receiver this year of just not running that route.

23:21And the only other wide receiver to, to lower that too, is Michael Wilson and Matthew

23:26Golden.

23:26So in other words, the receivers that are breaking out are basically throwing aside this route

23:29that doesn't matter.

23:30And they're getting more easy layup targets in the slot.

23:33And man, when he gets those, like he can do so much with it.

23:36He did that at Arizona.

23:37It wasn't all the time, but it was enough to like get you tantalized.

23:41So, I mean, McMillan, same thing with CD.

23:44When they got moved in the slot this week, it was like lights out stuff.

23:48Yeah.

23:48Awesome.

23:49Awesome game plan.

23:50And they talked about that this week.

23:51Cause remember two weeks ago, uh, it was the, the Browns game, I believe.

23:55And, you know, young Bryce Young didn't have a great game and Ted Arroa did nothing despite

23:58Jill and Coker leaving early.

24:00And it's like, what is going on?

24:01And in, uh, the presser kind of afterwards talking about it, you know, Canales was like,

24:07like, this is not okay.

24:08We need to get Ted, Ted, Ted, more mill and more involved, get him in the slot, find ways

24:11to get in the ball.

24:12And they literally came out and did that.

24:13So you could tell what the game plan was and what the practice plan was all week.

24:17And thinking back to last year, there were times where they would kind of think about

24:19this and talk about it, but they didn't actually do it.

24:22And then now they actually are.

24:23And I think if Coker can get healthy after the bye week, and this sounds silly and like

24:27almost not important, but I think it is important.

24:29If Xavier Leggett can just get back on the field at some point soon-ish and just be that

24:33X receiver, just clear him out, get out of the way, clear him out, let tech it in the

24:37slot and use him in a creative way.

24:39Like the fantasy upside here is really, really massive.

24:42And what Kyle said is just so true.

24:43Like the days of the perimeter X big body receiver winning consistently is not in today's

24:48NFL.

24:48The way that you'd be a high value fantasy wide receiver is some of the big plays, but also

24:53a bunch of the underneath stuff where you can rack up targets, catches and yards.

24:56And like you said, that was this game plan for Ted Rowe McMillan.

24:59It's not always going to be this good because unfortunately they don't get to play the lines

25:02every week.

25:02But man, what a fun game plan.

25:04What a fun game to watch.

25:05He just went balkers.

25:07Now Leggett went on IR, right?

25:08Yes.

25:09Okay.

25:10Knee injury.

25:11Yeah. And they also remember they drafted Chris Brazell.

25:14He's done for the year, but they drafted him to be kind of that field stretcher type.

25:18So yeah, I really liked him.

25:19Yeah. And I think that they collectively, when these guys eventually all get healthy, whenever

25:24that is, whether it's this year or next year, they kind of have a nice little like

25:27core to do the things you need to do.

25:29And you can build it around Ted Rowe McMillan.

25:31Such a funny offense, like thinking about what we, like, were they going to press the button

25:37of saying, let's just put it in Bryce's hands and they've done it.

25:40And Chuba has been awesome.

25:42And then we've seen, you know, moments with Coker.

25:44So fun offense.

25:46I think in the NFC South, like they're one of those teams that's going to keep making

25:50noise and hopefully you get the volume every week.

25:52Let's take a quick break.

25:54We'll be right back.

26:01All right.

26:03So we're going to play a little game today, drafting the top 12 NFL play callers.

Top-12 NFL Play Callers Draft

26:10And we actually didn't sit down and say, here's how you have to do it.

26:14Like, oh, use only the stats from this year or only use EPA per player, whatever it is.

26:19I kind of left it open to interpretation.

26:22And I think that's going to be a fun conversation.

26:24I'm sure there's going to be people that blast us in the mentions that how dare you not

26:27mention Frank Wright?

26:29How dare you not mention Matt Nagy?

26:31Um, those kind of guys, but.

26:36No, we're not getting any of those comments.

26:38People know.

26:39I put Frank at 29.

26:41Is that too kind?

26:43Is that about right?

26:44No, I don't think so.

26:45I think that's right.

26:46Okay.

26:46How, uh, how low is slow?

26:48Slow is at 31.

26:50There's one.

26:51Okay.

26:52Who's at 32?

26:53Oh, y'all's boy.

26:55Sean Mannion is sitting at dead last.

26:57Oh, I don't, I don't blame you, man.

26:59What the heck, Sean?

27:00Sean.

27:01Oh, that, that is one of those player like situations because we always talk about turnover

27:06every single year.

27:06Right. We talk about like, man, like almost half the league changes their offensive coordinator

27:10or play caller.

27:11And he's one of those like, okay, come from the tree.

27:14He's kind of like young.

27:15He's young.

27:16He's fresh out.

27:17It's like those guys like Sean Mannion, David Blau, like where it's like, wait, you just

27:21were playing football.

27:22Zach Robinson.

27:23You're a coach now.

27:24You're like, you know, it's kind of like when Sean McVay took over and he was as a head

27:31coach younger than like, you know, 10 of his players.

27:37It was like, that can't work.

27:38And then it's like, Ooh, you're a savant.

27:41Sean Mannion's not a savant.

27:43Oh no.

27:43We were hoping we were hoping.

27:47Yeah.

27:47So we're going to draft.

27:48Let's get into it.

27:52The fantasy footballers mock draft.

27:58All right.

27:58We're going to draft the top 12 play callers going to work as a snake draft with Jason,

28:02myself, and then bets at the turn.

28:05And, you know, we'll kind of get into this, maybe some specifics of this, you know, and

28:09maybe at the end we'll draft the bottom dudes, but Jason, you're up first.

28:13Uh, yeah.

28:15So if, if I'm up first, this is interesting.

28:18I think that there are right now there's a, there's at least three that I think are the

28:24there's, there's three at the top to me.

28:28Um, we'll see if those are, Oh, this is a snake.

28:31So I'm not, ah, darn it.

28:34I wish I didn't have the first pick.

28:35Give me the third pick.

28:37Um, I'll, I'm going to take Sean McVay.

28:40Um, I, I understand the arguments for everyone else as well.

28:43Obviously I'm coming from a, from a place of fantasy football, not just, um, quality, uh,

28:51head coaching.

28:52You know, this is, I want someone that has a guaranteed proven track record of manufacturing

29:01offense for running backs and wide receivers.

29:04He has always had that.

29:06He has had Cooper cup, uh, dominate the league, you know, where, where he gets them on linebackers

29:14and just complete mismatches.

29:16And you can't stop them.

29:17And he was a triple crown winning wide receiver, which is so rare.

29:22Then Puka fifth rounder comes out of nowhere.

29:25Kyron Todd Gurley.

29:26Like he always has, he does not have good wide receivers.

29:31He does not have good running backs.

29:33He has guys that can win a league.

29:35He has the number one overall running back in Gurley, the number one overall wide receiver

29:40in Cooper cup, the number one, you know, wide receiver overall in Puka Nakua, depending on

29:45your scoring.

29:46It, you know, it's such a long track record and he's always so creative and he's always

29:53changing things up.

29:54You know, it used to be no one ran more, you know, that's the craziest personnel.

30:00No one ran more multiple wide receiver sets than Sean McVay.

30:03And then the whole league's like, I'm going to do it too.

30:06And then he's like, but check this out.

30:08Three tight ends, every play.

30:10Um, he's a step ahead.

30:12And so I, I think he's the best.

30:13And, uh, if I want to put my fantasy, uh, players in the hands of someone, it's going

30:20to be Sean McVay.

30:21That point though is, is so key in a sense of Sean McVay.

30:26If he was having a conversation in, you know, 2018, 2019 with Sean McVay present, he'd be

30:31like, what are you doing?

30:32You know, because what worked in 2018 is so different.

30:36And yeah, you look at 11 personnel stuff.

30:38You look at what they do with 13 personnel.

30:40The weirdest thing this year is they're not doing as much play action as you would think.

30:46And yet they've been super successful and really successful running the ball.

30:50Like, it's just like, I can't really argue.

30:53So he's, he would have been my one or two.

30:56I kind of have a tie here, but.

30:58Yeah, it's, it's close.

30:59I assume that are you two?

31:01I am two.

31:02Betts, anything you want to say about McVay real quick?

31:04No, I agree with everything you guys said.

31:06I had him number two, but I understand why he's number one for Jason.

31:10From a dynasty lens, this is the reason a lot of us were pretty excited about Terrence Ferguson.

31:15And, you know, I've been unfortunately talking about Max Clare since prospect season.

31:19I'm kind of a Max Clare guy.

31:21Like, I just want pieces of Sean McVay's offenses.

31:24And when we think about like next year in free agency and the draft next year, you know,

31:28Devontae is another year over.

31:30Like somebody else is going to have to step up here behind Puka.

31:32So obviously landing spot with Sean McVay is going to matter a ton to us, whether it is free agency or in the draft at wide receiver.

31:40So yes, Sean McVay is awesome.

31:42And just the proven track record of doing it, you know, years and years in different eras of football.

31:46And so much has changed since he became a play caller.

31:49All right.

31:50At the second pick.

31:52I got to go Kyle Shanahan.

31:54Yep.

31:54Yeah. He was my one.

31:55Yeah.

31:56They were basically tied one and two.

31:58Those two guys are unbelievable.

32:00I'm so glad that the Cardinals are in the division with those two guys.

32:03The craziest thing.

32:05So first off, Kyles are not.

32:07I don't like other Kyles.

32:08Like, Kyles are a very weird bunch.

32:10Like, usually you meet one.

32:11You're like, ah, Kyles are a bit intense.

32:13In Atlanta, people hate Kyle Shanahan because of losing the Super Bowl, whatever that means, a couple years ago.

32:21But man, to reinvent the wheel with a team that is just every year decimated with injuries and say, you know what, Debo off the street, you're still going to be a thing.

32:32You know, and Kittle, hey, you know what?

32:34I know that you had an Achilles injury.

32:36Who cares?

32:36You're still elite.

32:37You're going to be awesome.

32:38They are just so creative to get a seventh-round quarterback and then make him into an all-pro.

32:43That's Brock Purdy, but that's also Kyle Shanahan.

32:46And basically, if you look at any metric this year, they're basically number one.

32:51They're number one in motion.

32:52So I think there will be a day, we talked about this earlier this offseason, where the old guard moves on.

32:59CMC, Kittle, Evans.

33:02And who knows what it is?

33:03But, like, this is the dude.

33:05Like, unless he just loses interest one day and wants to do something else, like, this team is going to be set up for success.

33:11I've never seen a team in any sport that is as injured as the Niners have been for the last decade.

33:18And he finds a way to win most every year.

33:22He's incredible.

33:23I don't think it's a surprise that both McVay and Shanahan, basically the tied one and two, are generational football minds.

33:33And I don't mean that as in, like, they're once in a generation.

33:36I mean, they come from stock of daddy in the NFL, daddy Shanahan, the McVay.

33:45Like, they grew up.

33:46They were little boys on NFL sidelines.

33:50They lived.

33:52This is all that they have known from the second they were born.

33:56Like, it doesn't happen with players.

33:58Even players like, you know, a T.J. Watt, where it's like, oh, you know, at some point when you got older, J.J. was awesome in the NFL or whatever.

34:09It's rare where it's like when you have a dad that is a famous head coach or a general manager or, you know, whatever, it's like you are you're just around it.

34:21It's your whole existence from the moment you're born.

34:24And these two guys, you know, it's not sometimes it's nepotism, Pete Carroll, and it's not deserved.

34:31I don't want to throw any names out there, Pete Carroll.

34:33But, you know, and sometimes it's just like they were born into it and they got trained up, you know.

34:40It's like they were raised for this.

34:45Agreed.

34:46Yeah, those are two of the top.

34:47They're on a tier of their own, I think, personally.

34:50At number three, I'm going to go, I think this is a chalk pick.

34:53I'm going to take Ben Johnson.

34:54That's who I have.

34:55Yeah, he's my number three.

34:56Yeah, I mean.

34:57They're in a tier of their own.

34:59He's right there.

35:00But Ben Johnson might be better.

35:01He's right there.

35:02Like.

35:02I mean, this guy is next level sick of them.

35:06Did you guys see that the most recent start for supposed to be Tyson Bajan?

35:12They put Case Keenum out there for the first snap.

35:15Yeah. Because he was like, everybody's reporting, you know, it's going to be Tyson Bajan.

35:18But I wanted to do this ceremonial thing.

35:20He is so petty.

35:21And like. I love that.

35:22He's so petty.

35:23So much about this.

35:24And he will basically tell the rest of the league, F off.

35:27You know, like he is going to run it up on teams.

35:31He is going to pound the rock with intensity.

35:33And his run scheme is so good that you have to respect it.

35:36And he can then have his quarterbacks hit the shot plays.

35:39So, man, like thinking about the Caleb Williams step from year one to year two with Ben Johnson.

35:43We've only seen like a little bit of it.

35:45But the upside for this offense is insane.

35:48And just what he's done with Case Keenum and Tyson Bajan.

35:51And, you know, Caleb who struggled as a rookie.

35:53Like it wasn't great for Caleb right away.

35:55And he fixed a lot of that stuff.

35:56So Ben Johnson for me at three.

35:59Yeah, I don't.

36:00I don't blame you there.

36:00He's done such crazy things.

36:02I talked about this from two weeks ago.

36:04He had that play where two different wide receivers are running through the sea gap up between the offensive line.

36:12And the defense has no idea how to guard these guys.

36:14They don't have players there.

36:15It's like I got one linebacker there and there's two wide receivers coming out of the offensive line.

36:18What's happening?

36:20It's just wild sicko stuff that he's doing.

36:22I will say this.

36:23The example you brought up of like the pettiness of giving the ceremonial first snap just to stick it to media.

36:34That works when you're winning.

36:37Yes.

36:37And it's awesome.

36:39And I love it when your team is going out there and having 80 plays in a game.

36:44But if you're not, you got to keep up, Ben Johnson, because if the winds stop coming, you're going to look like Mike McDaniel.

36:52You know, it's like that's no, that's true.

36:55And right now, obviously, last season is bottom.

36:58A lot of good grace for a little bit, but their fifth and explosive play rate.

37:02And you look up and you're like, but it doesn't feel that way with the fantasy options other than the running backs.

37:07Right. Like Mononga has been awesome on a per touch basis.

37:10Swift's been really good, except for fumbling.

37:12And then he's out of the game.

37:14But you look around, you're like, this team has been explosive.

37:17And yet the options have not felt that way in the passing game.

37:20But they've also had three different quarterbacks already in the season.

37:24But yeah, I think he's three.

37:27Yeah, they're three and one.

37:30And they've had two games with backup quarterbacks.

37:34And in those two games, you know, they scored 27 and 23 points.

37:39It's like, yeah, it's very impressive.

37:43He is right on the cusp of, you know, that Shanahan McVay tier.

37:48Yeah, agreed.

37:50We're going right back to me, Kyle, right?

37:51We're doing a snake?

37:52Okay.

37:52At four.

37:53At four.

37:54This feels early, but I'm going to take Clint Kubiak.

37:57I'm going to take Kubiak.

37:59That was who I was hoping.

38:00I wanted him at five.

38:01All right.

38:02So we're all in agreement.

38:03All right. We are in agreement.

38:04I thought for sure he'd get to me at six.

38:06I'm just so high on what he's done so far.

38:08And like, some of it is recency with the Raiders.

38:12Well, obviously last year with the Seahawks.

38:13Well, and with the Seahawks.

38:14But even before that, remember what was happening with Derek Carr in New Orleans a couple years ago?

38:18Before all their injuries were happening.

38:19Like, Derek Carr in the offense with Rashid Shaheed was still on the team in the lobby, of course.

38:24They were incredible for the first, you know, five, six, seven weeks.

38:26Like, that was when Jason had his, you know, shave bed.

38:29Oh, my head shaved.

38:30Yeah, your head shaved with the Saints.

38:32And thankfully for you, they all had injuries and they fell off.

38:34But he was cooking with that team in that offense.

38:37And then everybody for the entire summer two years ago was like, you know, Sam Darnold leaving Kevin O'Connell.

38:44This is not going to be good for him.

38:45And I was saying that.

38:46I was one of those idiots online.

38:47And like, he just comes out and he has a scheme that is so quarterback friendly.

38:52Understanding how to put his offensive players in a good position.

38:55JSN, literally everybody on the field knows the ball is going to Jackson Smith and Jigba.

38:59And they cannot figure out how to stop it because his scheme was that good last year.

39:03Now, everybody knows the ball is probably going to go to Brock Bowers.

39:07They can't cover it.

39:08And like this past week, the opening drive was beautiful.

39:10There was a play where they kind of do a fake motion to the right.

39:15Ian Thomas blocks for like two seconds and then releases off the block.

39:19And he's wide open on the left side.

39:20And they just throw it back across the field.

39:22Like that type of stuff in theory sounds so easy to do.

39:26But he's doing it with players that a lot of people, when they looked at the season, were like, you know, you can squint and see the Raiders being an okay team.

39:33But he elevates everybody around him because his scheme is that good.

39:37Kirk Cousins was like almost out of football, right?

39:39Like Kirk Cousins is playing so well right now with the scheme.

39:42And so, yeah, I just I'm a believer in what he's doing and believing in what he is building as far as that team.

39:48And we'll see.

39:50The running game has not been awesome.

39:52That's the only thing that I'll say.

39:53Inefficient.

39:54Historically, it's had a good running scheme, but it hasn't worked yet.

39:57We'll see.

39:58But it seems like a guy who gets it.

40:00I mean, he's a cube.

40:01He's a cube.

40:02It's got to work.

40:03The Cubiacs have had one of the best running schemes of all time.

40:07And this is another one, right?

40:09Like Ben Johnson's kind of the outlier here, this top tier.

40:13Daddy Kubiak, Gary Kubiak.

40:16You know, this is another generational.

40:18Like he grew up in it.

40:19He was born and raised and made for this.

40:23Yeah.

40:23So I love that you took him forth.

40:26He absolutely deserves to be there.

40:28And I don't think he would be there in most on the average list because, you know, both Ben Johnson and Kubiak,

40:35they are too new, too unproven to know for sure.

40:39And you've got to kind of call your shot with those guys.

40:41Right.

40:42But, I mean, they're great.

40:45Some of the stuff that Kubiak does, not just with his schemes, like Ben Johnson, his schemes, his play designs, they are wild.

40:57You know, he's the one that designed the fall down play.

41:03With the Lions. When he was with the Lions.

41:04Yes. Where it's like, hey, you're going to take the snap, act like you fall down, the running back stumbles.

41:10And then, because he saw some, like, wild stuff, right?

41:13Kubiak does some cool stuff like that.

41:15But technically, what this draft is, and I think we're, you know, it's called play caller.

41:22I think the way that Kubiak calls plays, he sets plays up.

41:29He calls plays now knowing what plays he's going to call later.

41:33And if he ever gives away play calling duty, shame on him.

41:38Shame.

41:38What's crazy is that this team was left for dead last year.

41:44And then even, like, with Gentry, how inefficient of a season it was.

41:48You had people just saying, like, he's always going to be this way.

41:51And he's actually still being inefficient on a per-touch basis.

41:54But he's getting the volume in an offense that, like, seems like it's only trending this direction.

41:59I wonder what the conversation was like for, like, Michael Mayer when Kubiak came in.

42:03Where he's like, hey, you're going to be a big part of my offense.

42:05Also, we're going to work on a contract extension with you.

42:09Where, like, he was left for dead.

42:10And now he's a big part of the offense when they run two tight ends.

42:13It's just like he's creating something where, like, he's running.

42:18Nobody's out there at wide receiver.

42:19Like, imagine if they do get somebody who's a legitimate wide receiver a year or two from now.

42:23They'll be able to cook even more.

42:25So, yeah, I wanted him at five.

42:26I feel like I wanted him in that zone.

42:29But I get it.

42:30Kubiak's so good.

42:31He's so good.

42:32All right. Mine, so I had this guy at four.

42:36I don't know if this is a, he deserves it after years.

42:39But it's Andy Reid.

42:40I think Andy Reid, this year, by the way, being able to reinvent, like, okay, let's get back to what we're really good at.

42:48They've had so many different, you know, iterations of the offense.

42:51But they are third in yards per play.

42:53They're running the ball like they've never done before.

42:56They're number one in play action.

42:58It's just like, this is the good stuff.

42:59My son was in the car yesterday.

43:01He was like, Dad, who are the good teams in the NFL?

43:03And I was just thinking off the top of my head, what's the easiest way to explain this?

43:07And I was like, it's the Chiefs.

43:10It's the 49ers.

43:11And he goes, weren't they really good, like, a couple years ago?

43:13He's talking about Super Bowl.

43:14I was like, yeah, good coordinators is what they do.

43:16So, Andy Reid at five.

43:19He deserves to be there.

43:20And this is a fantasy football show and we're a fantasy football slant.

43:26He brought us so many more passing touchdowns with the tap pass.

43:33And I know for sure.

43:35Like, he's not doing that just because, oh, it's a play that helps score touchdowns.

43:41He's like, I can get a touchdown for Patrick Mahomes and a touchdown for this running back

43:46or wide receiver on it.

43:48It's not just a jet sweep.

43:49It's a jet sweep tap pass.

43:51Now it's a passing touchdown.

43:52I get Mahomes up there at 40.

43:54I get Travis Kelsey with a little shovel forward.

43:57You know, it's like, don't you dare hand that off.

43:59Just throw it an inch.

44:00And then it's a passing touchdown.

44:02I love that.

44:02Just tap, tap, tap it in.

44:03There you go.

44:04Tap it in.

44:05All right. Well, I'm still happy here because I've got two guys with my two picks.

44:09I'm very, very happy to have here.

44:11I did hope that I got Kubiak here.

44:14But I'm just as thrilled with these other two guys.

44:17First, I'm going to take Kellen Moore.

44:20I was trying to decide the order of which ones.

44:23Dude, the speed.

44:25We talk about this, you know, a lot.

44:29The pace of play.

44:31I don't know.

44:32Maybe people that listen to, like, your DFS embedding show,

44:34maybe they understand it enough.

44:36People that listen to this show or the Fantasy Footballers Main podcast,

44:42they hear us talk about the pace of play.

44:44I don't think they really understand how important that is for fantasy football.

44:48Like, pace of play, opportunity is everything, right?

44:54Like, we're running back.

44:55I'd rather have 15 touches for a less talented player than, you know,

45:00seven touches for the most talented player in the world.

45:03Like, opportunities, everything.

45:05Well, all of that starts with how many plays do you get?

45:08Every stat that we have that scores fantasy points is how many plays did you get?

45:14How many opportunities?

45:15How many times did you drop back the pass?

45:17How many hand up?

45:18He has more.

45:19He just always, always, always, he gets more plays per game no matter what.

45:23It doesn't matter where he's been a coordinator.

45:26I mean, look, you said Sean Mannion's 32.

45:30Dude, the Eagles, Jalen Hurts, when Kellen Moore was there, hot diggity darn it, man.

45:36I want that back.

45:38Me too, Jason.

45:39I just, I love it.

45:41I love his style.

45:44It is fantasy football friendly.

45:46And then the other one I'm going to take,

45:49a guy that maybe should not have been let go.

45:52Not, not that, he was not cut, but Liam Cohen.

45:59Liam Cohen, now obviously the head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars, who,

46:03do you remember, do you remember how it went when he was leaving Tampa Bay?

46:08And then it was like, oh, he's not leaving Tampa.

46:09He was, he was.

46:09There's that little cross-state conversation, like going back and forth.

46:13Oh, no, that, you know, he's going to get a raise and stay with Tampa.

46:18And then he just kind of like, was like, smoke bomb.

46:21I'm a head coach now.

46:23You know, I've seen people recently talking about how like,

46:27if you could go back in time, you probably fire Todd Bowles and promote Liam Cohen.

46:33Since Liam Cohen has left, that team has really fallen apart.

46:38And you look at what he's gotten together with the Jacksonville Jaguars,

46:43what he got out of Travis, well, he had Travis Etienne.

46:48He didn't have Travis H. Ann Jr.

46:49He doesn't even know that guy.

46:50He had Travis Etienne.

46:52You know, what he got out of him, now what he's getting out of Tootin,

46:54what he's gotten out of Parker Washington,

46:57and most importantly, Trevor Lawrence, he's really, his system has worked.

47:02It's great for fantasy.

47:05And, you know, I think he's between both of these guys is not just what they're doing now.

47:11It's like we saw what they did beforehand.

47:15And what they did was not like Adam Gaze did great things with Peyton Manning

47:21and then went on to suck because he didn't have Peyton Manning.

47:26But, like, Kellen Moore and Liam Cohen, you know, they had Jalen Hurts and Baker Mayfield.

47:33They're not bad quarterbacks.

47:34They're good quarterbacks.

47:36They're not first ballot Hall of Famers that, like,

47:40I could go be the offensive coordinator for Peyton Manning in his prime.

47:43I know nothing.

47:44I couldn't design a play.

47:45I would just sit and twiddle my thumbs and my offense would be great.

47:49These guys got the absolute most out of their quarterbacks.

47:54I don't think, I mean, we've seen this with LaFleur last year.

48:00Like, if you've got a, or Kevin O'Connell, if you've got a really, really, really bad quarterback,

48:06I don't think coordinators are good enough.

48:09But if you've got just a good quarterback, just a decent, you know, an average,

48:13a real NFL quarterback, can you maximize them?

48:18And that's what those two guys proved they could do.

48:20They got head coach opportunities, and now they're doing great stuff with, you know,

48:23Trevor Lawrence and Tyler Shuck.

48:24So I'm happy to have that two-pack on my team.

48:28Yeah. The Jaguars right now are fifth in points per drive, second in EPA per play,

48:34top 10 in motion and play action, all the stuff that we always talk about.

48:38And it's crazy to think that, like, for dynasty purposes,

48:42when you have a coordinator like this that at least has an inkling of, like,

48:46I think this guy has turned around some programs.

48:48I think he's got the most.

48:49Then it gives you, like, opportunity for players that are on the fringe,

48:53like Devon Vele or Parker Washington.

48:55Yeah. That's a great point.

48:56Yeah.

48:57Exactly.

48:57A year out, you go, no.

48:59It's one thing to, like, bang the table and say, like,

49:01these guys are going to be awesome.

49:02Like, none of us knew that Parker Washington would be this involved a year ago.

49:06Like, nobody did.

49:07No, nobody.

49:07Not even Parker Washington.

49:08He's like, I'm a part of the game plan.

49:10But it gives you hope on some of these players to hold on a little bit longer

49:14to kind of buy in.

49:16And, like, Vele is one of those guys that's like, ah, is he really that good?

49:19Like, he gets the most out of his skill set just being this long beanpole

49:24that gets open and gets schemed because Kellen Moore in the slot is,

49:28I think, the best out of any of these guys.

49:31I mean, he's done it year after year in Dallas and with the Chargers and the Eagles.

49:35Like, whoever's in the slot for Kellen Moore, Zolave and Juwan Johnson last year,

49:38they're awesome.

49:39So, to me, it's more of a boost for, like, these fringe players,

49:44especially in Dynasty.

49:45That's a great point.

49:46Yeah, I hadn't even thought about that angle.

49:48But that's, if you're looking for, like, you know, you're building your team,

49:51especially in the offseason, you're thinking about some of these play callers,

49:54then the ones that we'll get to here next and all the ones we just mentioned,

49:57thinking about, like, building depth in Dynasty.

49:59It's so great in theory to say, like, yo, go trade for this superstar.

50:03But nobody's trading with those guys away.

50:05You can get, whether it's, like, a third-round rookie pick or off your waiver wire,

50:09Devon Vele or cheat pieces in a Jaguars offense.

50:13You know, like, just getting exposure to these coaching staffs and these offenses

50:16and these teams that are good, obviously, is a good way to do it,

50:19especially when you're looking for, like, double flex options.

50:21So, that point is well taken.

50:22The last thing I'll name and Cohen that I'll say is,

50:25looking at his recent history, you know,

50:27he was with McVay for a handful of years there in L.A. with the Rams.

50:30So, like, if you think about a guy to learn from,

50:34that would be on the very, very, very short list of guys to learn from.

50:37So, Liam Cohen, I think the arrow is still pointing out.

50:39That's why my guy, Nate Sheilhouse, who is the Rams OC,

50:44he's going to get a job somewhere this year.

50:46Of course, he's got the McVay spritz.

50:49He's the next dude up.

50:50Let's take a quick break and we'll keep going.

51:01We're talking, like, all positive about these guys

51:03because these are, you know, we're through seven.

51:06But I was looking at Liam Cohen.

51:07I was like, there's one guy who looks at Liam Cohen like,

51:10you ruined my career, and his name is Brian Thomas Jr.

51:15Or at least for Dynasty purposes, we're like, oh, man.

51:18And that certainly changed some things.

51:20All right, so I feel torn here

51:22because I think one of these guys is a better play caller.

51:26I'm picking at eight.

51:27But the situation is doo-doo this year.

51:30The other guy I think is good, but he has a great player.

51:34So I'm between Joe Brady and Kevin O'Connell as my eight.

51:38And I'll give the nod to Joe Brady because he stayed the course.

51:42He whispered in the bushes to the team's owner, like,

51:45hey, by the way, it's Sean McDermott's fault, not mine.

51:48And he got Josh Allen.

51:50So he staged a coup.

51:51We know that.

51:52But obviously the offense has been awesome this year.

51:54They've also kind of reinvented a little bit of what they've done

51:57where last year was so run heavy.

51:59And this year they are middle of the pack

52:01and pass rate over expectation.

52:02But first in every explosive play, passing, rushing,

52:06they've been awesome.

52:08So the craziest thing is, like, Josh Allen cures everything.

52:12You know that he's the second most pressured quarterback in the league

52:14and it just doesn't matter?

52:15It just doesn't even matter because he's just,

52:18not real.

52:19So Joe Brady at eight.

52:21All right.

52:21Not on my top 12.

52:23Wow.

52:23Fantastic pick.

52:25Yeah, because we've seen a lot of Joe Brady.

52:29Years ago, we used to talk about how Joe Brady comes in

52:32and he gets figured out.

52:34Starts the year strong, gets figured out,

52:36his scheme, his system, whatever.

52:38Turns out he doesn't get figured out when he's got Josh Allen.

52:41So this is like the argument.

52:43I'm not saying he's Adam Gay's level of like.

52:45No, no, no.

52:46Bad by any means.

52:47Joe Brady's good.

52:49He's my 13 on my order.

52:52So he's right there.

52:53But yeah, it's always tough.

52:56It's tough to know.

52:57And you, you know, you can't penalize a team for playing an easy schedule.

53:01If they go out there and beat the crap out of all their opponents,

53:04whatever.

53:04What do you want from him?

53:06You can't penalize him for having Josh Allen.

53:10But we can all see like, okay.

53:13Your offense is great because of Josh Allen.

53:15I did.

53:15That's.

53:16And so that's why I feel conflicted because I look at Kevin O'Connell.

53:19I think he's a better play caller.

53:20So maybe I should have boosted him.

53:21Well, we're drafting best play callers.

53:25So that's weird.

53:26But I also feel like this is a different Joe Brady than he was last year.

53:30So like the 2026 version of him is not the same and he's expanded.

53:35So there's room for growth.

53:38I'm fine with it.

53:39I'm fine with it.

53:39He's young.

53:40He's evolving.

53:40I do think though the play calling has been different this year.

53:43To speak to your point of like the McDermott oversight of like,

53:47let's, let's reign it in a little bit kind of thing because,

53:49and part of his personnel, like Don Kikate is finally healthy.

53:53They got DJ more, you know, things are different.

53:55Keon Coleman looks like an NFL wide receiver.

53:57And that was not the case last year, clearly.

53:59So a lot of it was the short gimmicky check.

54:02I just found a piece of candy glass in my seat from when I was,

54:07Kim Scadaboo for Halloween last year.

54:11Literally a year ago.

54:12So, so, so just to be clear, you were just, you know,

54:15digging in your crack.

54:16I'm digging in my seat.

54:17Yeah.

54:19Amazing.

54:20That's crazy.

54:21Anyways, what I was going to say,

54:22the pass rate is up now and the depth of target is up.

54:25So they are, he's maximizing this version of the offense with Josh Allen,

54:29not being so conservative.

54:30So I get where you're coming from, Kyle.

54:32I had him below these two names that I'm going to go with.

54:34One of which is Kevin O'Connell.

54:35So I'll take him here at nine.

54:38It's, you know, it's,

54:40it's so funny to think about like the arguments for JJ McCarthy last year.

54:43It's like, well, it's a Kevin O'Connell scheme.

54:44It's Kevin O'Connell system.

54:45He gets good quarterback play at everybody.

54:47And I still don't know that we're getting that right now,

54:50but I don't know if that's his fault.

54:52I just think Kyler may not be for today's NFL, but regardless,

54:56we have a huge sample size of Kevin O'Connell putting his players in a

54:58great position to succeed.

54:59So I am a huge fan of him still.

55:01And then at 10, hold on, hold on.

55:04I want to pause.

55:04Hold on.

55:05Yeah.

55:06What?

55:07Kyle over here posting.

55:08It's like, he's saying, Jason, mid show,

55:10butt crack digging is 100.

55:12I was not, I did not find that glass in my butt crack.

55:15It was in my chair.

55:17Which is, is there anybody in the room that can confirm that Jason?

55:20Cause we can not confirm or deny that.

55:21There's cameras.

55:22Also.

55:22But I guess you can't really tell what I'm doing.

55:24We can't see below the waist, dude.

55:26All right.

55:27Also, I wasn't going to bring that up.

55:29I was going to bring up a story about Kevin O'Connell.

55:31All right.

55:32All right.

55:33I'm trying to talk about KOC and Jason just sticking in his butt.

55:37So my next.

55:37I wasn't digging in my butt.

55:40Allegedly.

55:40We all, we all have our vice.

55:43My next door neighbor, my next door neighbor is a huge Vikings fan.

55:46He owns a Vikings bar here in Atlanta.

55:49So like all the Vikings fans here in Atlanta, this is where they go.

55:52And I was talking to him yesterday about Kevin O'Connell and the offensive.

55:54Like, he's like, I can't believe we're four and O.

55:56And I was like, oh man.

55:58So what, what do you want to happen?

55:59He goes, I think I'm over KOC.

56:01And I was like, no, no, no, no, no, no.

56:03I don't think you understand how good you have it and how good he's been over the course of being there.

56:10What's it like?

56:10Four or five years now.

56:12That's not the issue.

56:13Longer than that, isn't it?

56:14That's not the issue.

56:15I think, I think it's four or five.

56:17I'll look it up.

56:17But it's like, it's like, this is, it's a quarterback issue.

56:21They've also have some injuries on the offensive line.

56:24They just had another player go out for the year.

56:25So it's like, so many things are shifting.

56:27Do we think the record will stay?

56:29No. But he was like, I don't know about KOC.

56:31I was like, dude, KOC is not the problem.

56:33Five years.

56:34Okay.

56:35Okay.

56:35So move on.

56:36No more butts.

56:37No more KOC.

56:38No more butts.

56:40All right.

56:40At 10, is that right?

56:42Yes. 10.

56:43I'm going to take, I'm going to take Shane Steichen.

56:47I love that you took Shane Steichen.

56:49He was at 11 for me.

56:51I definitely would have picked him.

56:52He's in my top 12, but I assumed he would fall to me at 12 because people are not, people

56:57don't think he's as good as he is because he's had some down years with the Colts.

57:01Will he even have this job after this year, which we think he deserves it.

57:04No, he'll be fired.

57:05Yeah.

57:05Okay.

57:06He will absolutely be fired at the end of this year.

57:08As an Eagles fan, I hope he is fired and I hope he is hired to come back to Philly

57:13because he has gotten excellent quarterback play wherever he has been.

57:18It started with Jalen Hurst.

57:19Well, before that, it was partially in the Chargers, but really when he got play calling

57:23duties, he unlocked Jalen Hurst in the Eagles offense.

57:26You're like, okay, Shane Steichen, great play caller.

57:27He gets it.

57:28Then this last year with the Colts, he has Daniel Jones playing at like an MVP caliber level.

57:33Like the Colts offense was unstoppable last year until Daniel Jones gets hurt and we know

57:38how the season ends.

57:39Now this year, the team is just not firing on all cylinders because of Alec Pierce, not

57:44able to open up the field.

57:45They've had some issues otherwise with play with a pass catcher, you know, depth and things

57:50like that.

57:50But in general, that's not a Shane Steichen problem.

57:53In my opinion, I still think his scheme and play calling is excellent.

57:56And so when he does not saying when, if he gets another chance at another team with another

58:02quarterback, I think we could see one of those outlier awesome, awesome season.

58:06So it's not been great with Daniel Jones this year.

58:08I don't blame Shane Steichen for that at all.

58:10It's just kind of the natural ebbs and flows of Daniel Jones as a player, but we've seen

58:14him get really, really great quarterback play and I believe in him.

58:16So I'll take Shane Steichen here at 10.

58:18And they're still good at running the ball.

58:20Like they're just, I mean, it's Jonathan Taylor, but their, their, their scheme, everything

58:24else.

58:26Yeah.

58:26He feels like one of those guys that you're looking at the list and you're like, man, I

58:29feel bad for this guy because we know it's come down the pipe.

58:32They haven't made the playoffs any of his years.

58:34And yet he's going to show up somewhere next year.

58:37Mm-hmm.

58:38Philadelphia.

58:39Hopefully, genuinely, hopefully he shows up next year for the Colts.

58:44Like I know that franchises need to move on and he changed the need, you know, the,

58:49so much has been made owner on the sidelines, meddling and giving threats and all that.

58:54But it's like continuity is also helpful.

58:59I mean, you look at the Steelers history where, you know, they're on their fourth head coach

59:04ever.

59:05It's very good.

59:06Like if he's good, he's good.

59:09Might need a new GM.

59:11I don't know.

59:12I've always loved Chris Ballard, but it seems like they are weak in the personnel department.

59:17I'm at 11.

59:21And I just got to say there, there's some guys that are still, we have a very small sample

59:25size.

59:26So, so that's where I'm kind of toying with a couple of names right here.

59:30I'm like, okay, you're part of a good organization.

59:35So.

59:35Oh, my guy's out.

59:38He's part of a terrible organization.

59:39Yeah.

59:40The one I was thinking you were maybe leading.

59:43No, this might be one of these.

59:45I'm leaning towards Declan Doyle because.

59:49Young hotness.

59:50Young hotness.

59:52Ben Johnson, protege, disciple, and everything they've done this year is different with a

59:59different crew, especially at offensive line.

1:00:01Remember, they've had to like re revamp how their offensive line works.

1:00:04And all of the buttons that we hope you press as an offensive coordinator, he's done.

1:00:10Is that who you took?

1:00:11Yeah. You officially took Declan Doyle.

1:00:12I'm going to take Declan Doyle.

1:00:13I love him.

1:00:13That's neat.

1:00:14I'm happy to get his name in here.

1:00:17Okay.

1:00:17I couldn't tell if you're trolling me.

1:00:19You mean.

1:00:20Like.

1:00:21No, I mean, it's hard.

1:00:22It's like so small of a sample size.

1:00:24You don't know for sure.

1:00:26But he's, he's really done.

1:00:28I mean, so far the, the, the Ravens offense with what they have has looked like they've

1:00:33gotten the absolute most out of it.

1:00:36Right. And how many routes do we have for Zay Flowers?

1:00:38It's like this team has not had everybody there, but he's top 10 in play action and motion.

1:00:43Number two in EPA per drop back.

1:00:45Lamar will help that.

1:00:46But in play success rate there too.

1:00:48They've been really good so far.

1:00:50Small sample size, maybe I'm projecting, but I'll be honest.

1:00:53Once you started getting to like 15 through 25, there's a bunch of dudes that all feel

1:00:59the same and might have different jobs next year.

1:01:02Jason finishes out.

1:01:04Yeah.

1:01:05I, uh, I thought for a second you might be going with who I might have gone with in Mike

1:01:16LaFleur, baby LaFleur, the Arizona Cardinals new head coach.

1:01:21Um, it is very rare that a team that is as bad as the Cardinals and projected to fight

1:01:28for that number one overall pick.

1:01:30And, you know, was sub four and a half wins to start the year projection is in a 54 and

1:01:37a half point over under game this week.

1:01:39But that's where we are because they, I mean, the offense is working.

1:01:44The offense is scoring points, but I can't get myself to take baby LaFleur over big brother

1:01:52LaFleur.

1:01:53There's just more of a track record.

1:01:54Yeah.

1:01:55I have them back to back in my personal rankings.

1:01:57Um, I could see Mike two years from now being better.

1:02:02I mean, the truth is the Cardinals will lose enough games and Mike will be fired and it

1:02:05won't work even, but at no detriment to him because he's part of a bad organization.

1:02:09But I think if you were to flip those brothers, maybe he gets more out of the Packers.

1:02:13But I'm, I am officially going to take Matt LaFleur.

1:02:16I think he is an excellent, uh, offensive coordinator.

1:02:19He's struggling right.

1:02:20Not just this.

1:02:21Yeah, the, yeah, exactly.

1:02:22The body of work.

1:02:23He has done it in the passing game.

1:02:25He's done it in the running game.

1:02:26He, he's, he's changed styles where it's like, wow, he can really get, you know, you, you

1:02:34had a year where Jordan love was what, like top five fantasy quarterback.

1:02:38And it was like, okay, this is, this is awesome.

1:02:41And then, you know, because that was what their personnel was their personnel.

1:02:45Yeah. He was the quarterback five in 2023.

1:02:47And then it's like, um, then they get Josh Jacobs and it's like, Hey, let's get the most

1:02:52out of Josh Jacobs and, and score a kajillion touchdowns around the goal line.

1:02:56He has pretty much always had a top offense.

1:02:59He's a smart, uh, creative guy.

1:03:03And so, you know, I, I, I, I have him currently as my number eight overall, uh, play caller.

1:03:14So I think getting him here at 12 is a delight.

1:03:17I'm glad you, I'm glad you at least put him in here because it does feel like he deserves

1:03:23it. Even though there are some younger kind of more exciting new play callers, the track

1:03:27record with him has been awesome.

1:03:28And this year they're having to weather the storm a lot.

1:03:31Like the offensive line is a train wreck.

1:03:33No, Josh Jacobs, no running game.

1:03:35They don't have a run game at all, which is so weird to say for an offense like this.

1:03:39So yeah, I'm glad you put them in here.

1:03:41There's a couple of names, any honorable mentions you guys want to throw out there.

1:03:44It's like Tommy Reese has had two weeks without Penix, two weeks with him.

1:03:48So I don't really know fully what they are, but they've been fun.

1:03:52I think the name to mention the, the guy who, uh, hasn't been mentioned, he's my number

1:03:5710.

1:03:58So certainly would have been in, in my top 12, uh, is not a new young guy.

1:04:04It's a super old guy.

1:04:05It's Todd Monken.

1:04:06I had him at 13.

1:04:07Me too. I mean, Monken is, we've always loved him.

1:04:11We loved him wherever he went was like, Oh, this is fantasy gold.

1:04:15This is easy.

1:04:16He's going to get a lot of fantasy production.

1:04:19And now you put him as a first time head coach on one of the worst franchises in existence

1:04:25with no quarterback play and no, you know, and he's getting the most out of the Browns

1:04:30right now.

1:04:30And they look like they're having fun and they're winning games and they're off.

1:04:33I mean, I just, you know, I watched the Denzel Boston and spoke not negatively about Deshaun

1:04:41Watson.

1:04:41And some of that has to come down to system scheme, play calling.

1:04:45Um, you know, so I, I think Todd Monken is, is certainly amongst those quality, good play

1:04:53callers.

1:04:54Agreed.

1:04:55I had him at 13 as well.

1:04:56Um, I know we got to close out the show here soon, Kyle, but would you, let's go also

1:05:00go through one player that are one, uh, play call that wasn't mentioned younger, early

1:05:07in their career that you could see cracking this list next year.

1:05:10I mean, I think Michael Fleur is definitely up there.

1:05:13Brad Idzik is interesting.

1:05:15Yeah, I was going to say Idzik.

1:05:16I was going to, that's, that's the one that I, I would throw out there.

1:05:20And for those that don't know, he is, uh, now the OC for the Carolina Panthers.

1:05:24Yep.

1:05:25Who you talk about a team looking like they're having fun and playing above what they have recently

1:05:30done with Bryce Young.

1:05:32Um, they're great.

1:05:33The, the, the only other two names I want to make sure we throw out because they absolutely

1:05:37deserve to be just amongst, I think there's a big tear break, but like Kevin O'Connell.

1:05:43Oh, you, you already had Kevin O'Connell in there.

1:05:45Um, I forgot you took him.

1:05:47So, uh, nevermind.

1:05:49I, Brian Dayball is not bad.

1:05:52Brian Dayball is not a bad play caller.

1:05:56The Tennessee Titans are hot trash.

1:05:58What do you think he thought?

1:06:00I mean, obviously you're going to take a job.

1:06:02You're going somewhere.

1:06:03You're, you're getting something on your resume.

1:06:04You get a chance to call plays.

1:06:06Did you think that he thought Cam Ward would be this bad?

1:06:10No, of course not.

1:06:11No, I mean, you had a number one overall pick, you know, Cam Ward, if you were drafted first

1:06:19in the NFL draft.

1:06:20By a billion dollar organization.

1:06:23You should be good.

1:06:24Now, maybe Brian Dayball is not getting the most out of him and it's Brian Dayball's fault

1:06:31and he does not deserve to be mentioned with good offensive coordinators.

1:06:34That could be true.

1:06:36I think it's Cam Ward.

1:06:37I think Cam Ward is terrible.

1:06:39And I think if Cam Ward were to be benched and, and Mitchell Trubisky comes in, you'll see

1:06:43an offense that all of a sudden is moving the ball.

1:06:46I'll throw out one more fake or let me put out this category.

1:06:51Play caller that you think is worse than what people really realize.

1:06:57So like, okay.

1:06:59So he's bad.

1:06:59I think he's bad and they think he's bad.

1:07:01Mine's Zach Taylor.

1:07:03I think that Zach.

1:07:04Oh, I love it.

1:07:04I love that so much.

1:07:06Oh, I've hated Zach Taylor forever.

1:07:09I just, oh, Kyle, that makes me so happy.

1:07:14He, I mean, this is, this is, this is absolutely Adam Gase.

1:07:17This is rooting for the man.

1:07:18He's got the man.

1:07:19Great. But, you know, fine.

1:07:20Yeah, yeah, yeah.

1:07:21I'm not, I'm not, I'm not anti Zach as a person.

1:07:24But, man.

1:07:24I just think he is propped up by Joe Burrow.

1:07:27I agree.

1:07:28100%.

1:07:28Okay.

1:07:29I was just looking at the list and I was like, I just, I don't really know where to put him.

1:07:33Can I give one, I'm intrigued, shout out?

1:07:36Okay.

1:07:37Shout out to Brian Fleury, man.

1:07:39Oh, yeah, yeah.

1:07:40He was, when Kubiak left, I was like, uh-oh.

1:07:42This might not, you know, what's going to happen to JSN's usage?

1:07:45He's in your top 15?

1:07:46Yep. Oh, Kyle.

1:07:47He gets right there at 15.

1:07:48It's kind of nice.

1:07:49But, I mean.

1:07:49No running backs.

1:07:51Manuel Wilson looks great.

1:07:52Come on in, you know.

1:07:53Offensive line, I think from a personnel standpoint, is not a top five unit, but they play sometimes

1:07:58like it because the scheme, I think, is still there even though Kubiak left.

1:08:01So, I'm impressed with what he's done with big shoes to fill with Kubiak.

1:08:05He also comes from-

1:08:06Schottenheimer, Schottenheimer's fun too.

1:08:08Schottenheimer is one of those that I feel like-

1:08:11He's my 15.

1:08:11Okay.

1:08:12I have him at 17.

1:08:13I think, I don't know, week to week.

1:08:16I can either be like, this guy is one of the ones that I can count on.

1:08:19They haven't had the explosive plays this year.

1:08:20I think that's the part that you haven't seen, but they will come.

1:08:25Okay.

1:08:25So, now truth telling time.

1:08:29Where do you have Mike McDaniel?

1:08:33Where do you have Mike McDaniel?

1:08:35I had him 14.

1:08:35As of this, I have him 17.

1:08:39Just zooming out.

1:08:40I have him 20.

1:08:41It's been a month. It's been horrible.

1:08:42But for years, we're like, Mike McDaniel, system and scheme is so good.

1:08:47So, I-

1:08:47He is-

1:08:48Yeah.

1:08:48I don't know.

1:08:49I don't know what to say anymore.

1:08:50He's rapidly dropping.

1:08:51It's really weird.

1:08:53Every second, he is slowly dropping to, who knows if he has a job.

1:08:58By the end of this podcast.

1:08:59No, he'll have a job for a couple more weeks, at least.

1:09:01Yeah.

1:09:02Anyway. Get rid of him so that we can have our beautiful Hampton.
