0:00The sixth episode of Lernas is here and
0:02now they show us a bit of the life Jon
0:04had after rejecting the ring. The world
0:06knows he managed to be a Green Lantern
0:08for 5 minutes, [music] but now he is an
0:10architect trying to sell underground
0:12shelters so humanity can survive in the
0:14event of a global tragedy. During his
0:16presentation, [music] the investors are
0:18very impressed. But a $30 billion budget
0:20is not handled by them alone, but also
0:23by the [music] government. And although
0:24Jon gets the initial approval, he needs
0:26to convince Colonel Draco. After the
0:28most important meeting of their lives,
0:30the [music] brothers just want to
0:32celebrate. But Marcus' assistant lets
0:34him know that he has several missed
0:35calls from his mother, and those are not
0:38good news. When Jon picks up the phone,
0:40the only thing he hears from his mother
0:41is [music] that Harold Jordan wants to
0:43apologize to him. She tells him that the
0:45man has changed, and after being in
0:47prison, he has really found himself and
0:49now [music] wants to make peace.
0:52After hearing that Hal Jordan is hanging
0:54around his mother, Jon has no choice but
0:56to return to the town of Rushville,
0:58which now looks like a ghost town and
1:00[music] is still recovering from the
1:01tragedy, Jon arrives at the local diner
1:03and there is Hal trying to eat
1:05something. So, he just sits down across
1:07from him, ready to listen to his
1:08apologies, but that will never actually
1:10happen. Hal has no idea what he is
1:12talking [music] about and would never
1:13apologize to him, especially after how
1:15he messed things up. Hal tells him that
1:17he has already paid his debt. It [music]
1:19was 10 years in prison after he took the
1:21blame for the disaster they caused in
1:23this place. [music] But Jon does not
1:24believe he is to blame for anything and
1:26that is where he is wrong. Hal knows
1:28perfectly well why he rejected the ring
1:31at the end of it all and after
1:32convincing [music] himself that he was a
1:34hero. In the end he was afraid. That is
1:36the simplest answer of all and the only
1:38explanation. But at that moment Jon
1:40punches him in the face not only for
1:42making him waste his time but for making
1:44him come back to this place.
1:47A single punch from Jon is enough to
1:50shake up his ideas and make him start
1:52bleeding from the nose. After this,
1:53[music] he just goes back to his car,
1:55but first he warns him to stay away from
1:57his family and never manipulate them
1:59again. After driving a couple of hours
2:01back to his house, Jon does not even
2:03have 30 seconds on the couch when he
2:05gets the call from Carrie. That call we
2:07saw at the start [music] of the whole
2:08season where she takes him directly to
2:10the football field and there is Hal
2:12Jordan's body almost [music] frozen and
2:14with a gunshot wound on his forehead.
2:16Carrie believes that the person who
2:18broke his nose is [music] the one
2:19responsible for his death. But although
2:21Jon is about to confess that it was him,
2:23he remembers that during their
2:24conversation, [music] Hal begged him not
2:26to tell anyone that he came. So, he
2:28decided to keep this to himself for the
2:30moment. She tells him that everyone in
2:32this town hated him and that the number
2:34of suspects [music] is too big for her
2:35to investigate it alone.
2:39She knows she should not have called
2:40him, but she could not think of another
2:42name. The first thing Jon asks her is
2:44whether she has any idea why [music] he
2:46came back here, whether he was looking
2:47for something or expecting to meet
2:49someone else. This is where Carrie
2:50confesses that Hal came back for her.
2:53And although she knows perfectly well
2:54that he was a jerk, [music] they were
2:56trying to make it work. Carrie told him
2:58the same thing his mother told him that
3:00Hal managed to change after his time in
3:02[music] jail. And after she and her
3:03husband were separated for 3 years, they
3:05started exchanging emails. They sent
3:07each other letters once in a while. And
3:09that is how it all began. The day he got
3:11out of prison, he [music] moved to this
3:13town and started making amends. Every
3:15morning, he walked through all the
3:16neighborhoods, asking people if he could
3:18do something to help them. An errand,
3:20[music] mowing the lawn, anything in his
3:22power to improve their lives. And
3:24although many insulted him and others
3:26beat him, he repeated [music] the same
3:27routine for months.
3:31She tried to tell him to stop, but Hal
3:33paid no attention. He was convinced that
3:35little by little he could make things
3:36[music] right, but those who could
3:38rebuild the town just left. and now she
3:40feels that she is protecting an
3:41incomplete place since there [music] are
3:43still many buildings in ruins and the
3:45people have lost hope. Before saying
3:47goodbye, Carrie hands him the key to
3:49[music] what used to be Hal's house. It
3:51is quite far from the town, but it is
3:52the only place he could afford. 2
3:54minutes later, Jon arrives at this place
3:57and understands perfectly why Carrie
3:59told him to [music] use the back door
4:00since at the front door there is a trap
4:02with a shotgun that will go off as soon
4:04as someone tries [music] to enter. The
4:06place is falling apart and could not be
4:08more pitiful, but at least it is better
4:10than being on the street or sleeping in
4:12his car. On top of that, Jon [music]
4:14meets Earl, Hal's beloved pet, who now
4:16has no one to take care of her.
4:20In the refrigerator, there is some meat
4:22for [music] Earl. And while Jon gets
4:23ready to give some food to the alien
4:25plant, he gets a call from his brother,
4:27who has no idea why he went back to that
4:29old town, and informs him that he must
4:31return immediately since he has a
4:33meeting with the colonel on Friday.
4:34Marcus [music] tells him to please leave
4:36all that behind. He does not need to tie
4:38up loose ends. In [music] a few days,
4:40they will have the most important
4:42meeting of their lives, and the best
4:43thing he can [music] do is return to the
4:45city. The next day, Carrie comes to get
4:47him so they can have some coffee and go
4:49to the morg since maybe the coroner has
4:52something interesting to tell them. For
4:53her, seeing Hal's body is quite
4:55difficult. Bixie, [music] the coroner,
4:57informs them that based on the
4:59trajectory of the bullet and the
5:00stiffness of the body, Hal was looking
5:02directly at the person who shot him,
5:04which means he knew him and [music]
5:05accepted his fate. On top of that, the
5:08wound on his nose could have been from 2
5:09hours before [music] his death, and she
5:11already sent the only evidence she could
5:13collect.
5:15The problem is that the DNA results will
5:18take about 4 months, and Jon knows
5:20perfectly well that [music] the sample
5:21will match his. Maybe he will tell us
5:23about the trigger, but it will be better
5:25to be honest with Carrie [music] before
5:26the results arrive and to tell her that
5:28he was here before her call or at least
5:30solve [music] the case to clear his own
5:32guilt. Although Carrie begs the coroner
5:34to be a little more thorough with her
5:35analysis, she tells her that she has
5:37already done what was necessary and does
5:39[music] not plan to make an effort for
5:40even one more second for this jerk who
5:43destroyed the town. So, they cannot
5:44expect anything more from her. On
5:46[music] top of that, taking into account
5:48that Hal had no family or distant
5:50relatives, his body will be cremated and
5:52[music] placed in an ern, and if she had
5:54to choose, she would throw it down the
5:55toilet. But surely Carrie will have some
5:57better idea of what to do with his
5:59remains. Before leaving, Bixie leaves
6:00them a bag with Hal's belongings. And in
6:03it are the keys to an old storage unit
6:05in the city.
6:07So, our dynamic duo decides to visit it.
6:10[music] And there is a huge box there.
6:12That thing looks like a huge block of
6:14clay and they have no idea what to do
6:16with it until suddenly they can hear a
6:18voice asking [music] them to confirm
6:19their identity to get access. Although
6:21for Carrie, it is quite embarrassing to
6:23play a voice note sent by Jordan. The
6:25problem is that the box realizes [music]
6:27that it is a recording and warns them
6:29not to try to access it again or it will
6:31activate a defense protocol. [music]
6:32So, they have no choice but to leave
6:34there empty-handed. But the next thing
6:36they plan to do is pull [music] some
6:37strings to see if they can bury Hal.
6:39They know perfectly well that maybe he
6:41did not deserve it, but they want to do
6:43it for him. [music] Carrie says that is
6:45a very good idea. The guy at the funeral
6:47home owes her a couple of favors and
6:49maybe it [music] is time to collect, but
6:50if they do this, they will know that the
6:52whole town will hate them for it. But
6:54even so, [music] they are willing to
6:55take the risk.
6:58She tells him that they will discuss
6:59that topic tonight during dinner and
7:01asks him to bring some beers since he
7:03will surely need them. While Jon is at
7:05the store, he gets a call from the
7:07nursing home where they inform him that
7:08his father is causing a lot of problems.
7:11And this is where we find out that
7:12dementia is affecting him in an almost
7:14irreversible way. The [music] nurse
7:16tells him that his father has been
7:18complaining about the size of his
7:19windows and that they could move him to
7:21a bigger room, but that would cost a lot
7:23more money. However, Jon tells them that
7:25he is not interested and will not pay a
7:28single cent [music] more so that his
7:29father is more comfortable. While in the
7:31background, his father can be heard
7:33shouting and being restrained. [music]
7:35Jon hangs up the call and just stays
7:37watching an ad for Guy Gardner, the new
7:39Green Lantern. So, [music] he decides
7:41that this guy could be useful and walks
7:43toward the town square where there is a
7:44signal very similar to Batman's. And
7:46then, when he turns it on, Jon is
7:48approached by a bunch of guys who
7:50threaten to break his bones [music] if
7:52he does not turn it off immediately.
7:55They want nothing to do with that guy,
7:57much less with him. Before the fight
7:59breaks out, Billy appears. If you do not
8:01remember him, he is Carrie's ex-husband
8:03[music]
8:03and the person who got Hal out of jail a
8:06couple of times under orders from his
8:07father. [music] They're William, the
8:08magnate who ended up with his heart
8:10ripped out of his chest. Jon tries to be
8:12reasonable with these people, but
8:13[music] Billy has changed. He is no
8:15longer the lawyer who liked to fix
8:17things with words. Now he gives him 3
8:19seconds to pay for [music] that lantern,
8:20or he will make sure to break his legs.
8:22So, Jon has no choice but to start a
8:24fight against five guys on his own. As
8:26was to be expected from the man who was
8:28about to become the hero of the world,
8:30Jon beats them up and leaves the lantern
8:32on. Then he leaves so as not to be late
8:34for dinner with Carrie [music] and her
8:35son Noah, who is already a teenager.
8:37There he tells them about his project
8:39and how he is about to receive the
8:40funding to build his panic rooms,
8:42[music] completely safe places, so that
8:44more than 20,000 people can survive a
8:46catastrophe.
8:49Carrie tells him that Noah also has some
8:51leadership in him. After the disaster,
8:53he started a campaign to repair the
8:55school and managed it by getting
8:57government funding and making sure that
8:59many children could keep receiving an
9:01education. Although dinner is going
9:03wonderfully and they are managing to
9:04catch up, a call ruins all of that
9:07completely and they inform [music] him
9:08that there is an arrest warrant with
9:10Jon's name for having attacked five men
9:12in the square that night. With the only
9:14call available, Jon calls his brother
9:16Marcus and promises [music] him that he
9:18will return to the city as soon as he
9:20can. But first, he needs him to send
9:21money to pay bail. The next morning,
9:23[music] Jon wakes up not with the light
9:25of dawn, but with a very bright green
9:27light coming from the new Green Lantern,
9:28who has come to talk to the person who
9:30turned on his signal. Guy, [music] the
9:32new Green Lantern, is a pretty cool guy.
9:34But he knows Jon's past and Jordan's
9:36[music] too, and he is not very kind to
9:38them, especially because he knows
9:40exactly what they caused in this place,
9:41and he has not yet been able to repair
9:43all the damage.
9:46On top of that, they damaged the
9:48institution's name quite a bit, and many
9:50on Earth came to question whether a
9:52Green Lantern was really necessary. Jon
9:54informs him that Hal was killed, but he
9:56does not need him for that or to help
9:58[music] him solve the crime. The reality
9:59is that they plan to give him a decent
10:01burial, and they would like to be able
10:03to bury him with his uniform and his
10:05ring, [music] the one they deactivated,
10:06and which right now is under lock and
10:08key on the planet OA. This is the only
10:11thing he will ask for in return for the
10:13fact that he was able to become a Green
10:15[music] Lantern since the only reason
10:17that ring is on his finger right now is
10:19because Jon rejected the chance to use
10:21it. [music] Guy reveals to him that
10:23something very important is happening on
10:25the planet OA and it would not be very
10:27convenient to visit it right now. It
10:29turns out that someone freed Sinestro
10:31and he had planned to interrogate
10:32Jordan. But now it seems that he has
10:34[music] an excellent alibi. Come on. You
10:36cannot have traveled to space and freed
10:38an intergalactic criminal if you are
10:40dead.
10:42A few minutes later, Marcus' transfer
10:44finally arrives and Jon is released. But
10:47he does not know whether the Green
10:48Lantern will help him. What he [music]
10:49does know is that something very
10:51suspicious is happening again in this
10:53town. And now it is very necessary
10:55[music] for them to solve Jordan's
10:56murder. As soon as he leaves the police
10:58station, Jon gets in his car and puts
11:00his phone on to charge. There he
11:02discovers that he has a huge number of
11:04missed calls. [music] The first is from
11:06his mother who has a message from Jordan
11:08for him, but she tells him that she will
11:10give it to him in person. The second
11:12[music] is from his brother Marcus who
11:13tells him that the meeting with the
11:15colonel was moved up to that same night.
11:17And the third is from the nursing home
11:18where they inform him that his father
11:20shot at the windows of his room and that
11:22if he does not show up immediately to
11:24fix this situation, [music] they will
11:25call the police. John tries to call his
11:27younger brother Aaron and tell him that
11:29he must go to the nursing home
11:31immediately to pick up his father. But
11:32he tells him that this is not about him.
11:36It has always [music] been about Jon and
11:38the only reason his father is doing this
11:40is so that he can go see him. [music]
11:42Furious, Jon tells his little brother to
11:44take his car keys and go to the nursing
11:46home immediately or he will cut off his
11:48funds completely and he can forget about
11:50his music [music] career. With this, he
11:52will manage to convince him to cooperate
11:54and take care of his father for a couple
11:56of days while he sorts out some very
11:58important matters. A few minutes later,
12:00Jon runs into the diner's cashier,
12:01[music] and she has been waiting for him
12:03outside Jordan's house. Her name is
12:05Maggie, and she calls him a murderer,
12:07assuring him that they must talk about
12:09something very important. Maggie [music]
12:11asks him why he did not tell Carrie what
12:13really happened that night. And Jon
12:15assures her that it is not relevant to
12:17the case. [music] He did not kill
12:18Jordan. And she tells him that maybe
12:20that is not true. So she wants
12:21compensation and she has a number in
12:23mind. $314,95357.
12:27[music]
12:30Maggie tells him that this is the money
12:32it will cost to repair the life they
12:34ruined when they burned her house and
12:35she had to watch it burn at only 9 years
12:38old [music] the same night she lost her
12:39parents. A few seconds later, someone
12:42knocks on the door and it turns out to
12:43be Noah, who has brought him a suit for
12:45the [music] funeral. So Maggie leaves
12:47through the back door and tells him that
12:48she will give him until tomorrow night
12:50to [music] get the money or she herself
12:52will go to Carrie to confess everything
12:54that happened the night Jordan was
12:56murdered. That same [music] afternoon,
12:57Jon arrives at the funeral and Guy is
12:59there who has kept his part of the deal.
13:01He traveled to the planet OA and stole
13:03the ring that belonged to Jordan. And
13:05although it is deactivated and has no
13:07use, it is a symbol of what he achieved
13:09at least during the years he was on good
13:11terms [music] and was not a complete
13:12idiot. Before leaving, Guy assures him
13:14that his debt is paid. He no longer owes
13:16him anything and warns him not to use
13:18the [music] town square signal again.
13:22A few seconds later, Jon gets another
13:24call. It is Marcus again telling him
13:26that he is about to throw his whole
13:28future overboard and that he still has
13:30time to [music] make it to the meeting.
13:32He just has to get in his car and drive
13:34almost at the speed limit. [music] But
13:35Jon tells him that will not happen. Asks
13:37him to go to the meeting. And when he is
13:39in front of the colonel to hand him the
13:41phone, and he will take care of the
13:43rest. [music] Right after hanging up the
13:44phone, Jon is approached by a woman
13:46named Carol who turns out to be Jordan's
13:48ex-wife and she has a speech that she
13:50would like him to read. It is a letter
13:52written by Jordan himself, who knew that
13:54this would happen someday and wrote his
13:56own goodbye. During the first lines of
13:58the speech, [music] Jordan was sure that
13:59at his funeral, there would be alien and
14:02earthly beings. [music] Besides, he also
14:04counted on the presence of the president
14:05of the United States. But the reality is
14:08very different. Next to his [music]
14:09coffin, there are only three people, and
14:11all three came to hate him deeply during
14:14his life. They are only here because
14:16they feel that he was not a complete
14:18waste, at least [music] in a small part.
14:21Although the speech is pitiful for the
14:23most part, the final words do have quite
14:25a bit of meaning and managed to make
14:27even Jon feel bad for having been so
14:29harsh with him. After the ceremony, Jon
14:31assures Carrie that he will stay a
14:33couple more days to give her moral
14:35support and help her with whatever she
14:36needs. But as soon as the sun sets, we
14:38can see him digging up Jordan to snatch
14:40the ring from him. When he is only a
14:42couple of inches away from reaching the
14:44coffin, he gets the call from his
14:45brother, who has the colonel with him,
14:47and Jon has to take a couple of seconds
14:49to concentrate [music] and remember the
14:50words he wants to say to him. However,
14:52the colonel only stays on the phone for
14:545 seconds [music] and then hangs up on
14:56him since someone who wants $30 billion
14:58makes sure to be present. Jon tries to
15:00call back, but Marcus tells him that the
15:02colonel has already left. And once
15:03[music] again, he has managed to ruin
15:05the lives of everyone around him, and he
15:07will never be able to move forward until
15:09he finishes the matters that [music]
15:10have kept him tied to that abandoned
15:12town for 10 years.
15:15With the most important meeting of his
15:17life ending in a pitiful way, Jon has no
15:19choice but to take the shovel and keep
15:21digging until he finally manages to
15:23reach the coffin. And there he makes
15:25sure to open it and recover the ring.
15:27Once he manages to put it on, it is
15:29obvious [music] that it will not work.
15:31But it turns out that the little trick
15:32Jordan taught him while he was alive
15:34allows him to summon from his memory
15:36bank the version of Jordan that lives in
15:38the ring and that has all his memories.
15:40So now Jon has gotten himself a partner
15:42to try to solve the mystery of his own
15:44murder. The first thing the Jordan who
15:46lives in the ring says when he sees his
15:48corpse is that he knew this would
15:49happen. But he still has to find out
15:51about many things like the fact that
15:53Sinestro is [music] free and that they
15:54have a whole town of killers and they
15:56need each other to find the right one.
15:58Giving us the end of the episode like
16:00that. [music] If you liked the recap,
16:01remember to leave your like and your
16:03comment. And if you want to see more of
16:05your favorite movies or series on the
16:06channel, do not hesitate to recommend
16:08them to us. See you in a week with the
