1:37in today's guest we've got shun hangi

1:41is that correct Master that's fine thank

1:45you very much how are you my brother

1:47good to see you

1:50very this is the kind of conversations I

1:53love about life about just so many

1:56different topics and I've watched some

1:58of your stuff where it's very

2:00enlightened it's very fresh it's

2:02a lot of people can resonate with her

2:05especially today's society where a lot

2:07of people do struggle but before we get

2:09into everything

2:10first and foremost I just want to thank

2:12you for coming on the show but I always

2:14like to go back to the start with my

2:15guests get a bit of understanding about

2:17you where do you grew up and how it all

2:20began yes

2:22so I grew up in Germany was also born in

2:25Germany but in early ages already so

2:29when I was like four years old my father

2:32he decided I am supposed to learn some

2:35martial arts so this is where he put me

2:38into a Shaolin school where I started

2:41getting in touch the first time with

2:43what we nowadays know as Shaolin Kung Fu

2:47and

2:49on the way of growing up meaning also uh

2:52going through the German School System

2:54also studying doing all of these things

2:57but my passion has always been doing

3:00something with the body so which means I

3:03didn't really like to study too much

3:05books or anything I prefer to spend my

3:08time outside

3:10and I have to say that

3:13it has always followed me meaning having

3:16this let's say normal way of life going

3:19to school learning but all the rest of

3:21my spare time I spend actually doing

3:24martial arts yeah more precisely like

3:27Chinese kung fu

3:29and it is following me now since 36

3:32years this year and

3:36in the very beginning I was also not

3:38interested in the philosophical sites of

3:41all of these teachings because you know

3:43when you do martial arts it's more about

3:46the skills that you are developing and

3:48also the physical abilities that you are

3:50developing

3:51yeah

3:54yeah yes so physical abilities meaning

3:56your rate of flexibility your rate of

3:59strength your speed so there are many

4:01different categories

4:04or on our body that we can develop this

4:07was my primary let's say Focus

4:11but along the way of always staying with

4:14this type of practice I also realized

4:17that the state of mind

4:20the way how when you walk out on the

4:22street when you're surrounded by a huge

4:25crowd or when some stressful situations

4:28come up it's also changing something

4:30about yourself on the inside

4:33so and this was the point where

4:36I also realize let's say

4:39that the way how I let's say perceived

4:45the things around me

4:46was thanks to all the physical practices

4:49that I did before

4:51and what we nowadays let's say from the

4:54modern science know is that there are

4:56so-called psychosomatic issues

4:59psychosomatic problems meaning the way

5:02if you have a trauma if you are

5:04cultivating something inside of yourself

5:07you keep it for too long time you

5:09suppress it you suppress your emotions

5:12you suppress your feelings all of this

5:15can lead to the fact that maybe your

5:18your physical body is starting to show

5:20some signs of uh yeah some signs of

5:24conflict some signs of sickness or some

5:28signs of not feeling well

5:31and so the key point and why I'm also

5:35trying now since almost 10 years or even

5:38longer

5:39what I try to bring a little bit out to

5:42the people is that idea

5:44in the moment where we take more care

5:47more

5:49more conscious care of our own body

5:53we can at the same time simultaneously

5:55also access what we humans now they call

5:59our mind our thoughts our emotions our

6:03feeling meaning this inside world

6:07inside world meaning it is right now

6:11even if you are sitting right opposite

6:12of me I can see your body I can see the

6:15reactions of your body all of this what

6:18I cannot see is what is going on in your

6:21inside world right now

6:23yes

6:25Whitey thanks so many people

6:28are struggling because they don't look

6:30after themselves because you know the

6:32Western Society especially Scotland

6:34England Ireland Wales is it's a lot of

6:37drinks there's a lot of drugs there's a

6:39lot of overindulging in food a lot of

6:41toxic stuff I was part of that for many

6:44many years thankfully I'm free of it I

6:47still over

6:48eat sometimes which I know is a poison

6:51why do you think as a human being we

6:54know it's wrong but yet we still do it

6:57okay on the one side

7:00I think it is culturally related so of

7:04course depending on in which nation in

7:06which country we are growing up

7:09of course you're influenced by the way

7:12how our parents are teaching Us by the

7:14kindergarten by the teachers by the

7:17government all of this of course is

7:19influencing us

7:21just along this journey along yourself

7:24as a human walking this way the question

7:27is if you are sometimes starting to

7:31actually

7:32observe yourself

7:35observing yourself means that in our

7:39tradition we say there are no

7:41coincidences

7:43in our tradition what we in the

7:45traditional language speak about is it's

7:47called karma

7:49many people maybe heard this word

7:51already but karma just means

7:55if you want one day to have an orange

7:58tree

7:59somewhere in the past you must plant the

8:01seed for that orange tree to grow if you

8:05want Apple Tree you need to plant the

8:08apple seed

8:09in this world it just doesn't happen

8:11that we are planting apple seed and get

8:13orange tree

8:15this is not happening

8:17so that also means now in regards to us

8:19humans live right now 2023 I'm unhappy

8:23with many circumstances in my life with

8:26my body with my habits that I have it's

8:30not coming from uh from nowhere it's not

8:33coming from coincidence

8:34it is coming from all of the things that

8:38I have done in the past

8:40so the first observation is first of all

8:42to just look at yourself sometimes and

8:45and take this

8:47status quo

8:49how do I feel right now where do you see

8:52like your areas where you could still

8:54improve yourself

8:56and then try to relate this to

9:00everything that happened in the past to

9:02your behavior in the past to your

9:05thinking patterns in the past

9:07and

9:09just based on this type of observing

9:12yourself taking a moment and watch

9:14yourself what are you talking what are

9:16you thinking what are you saying how are

9:20you behaving just based on that

9:22normally if you watch carefully enough

9:25you will already start to build up a

9:28connection between the past and who you

9:30are right now

9:31so you start to actually realize that

9:34you are exactly where you have to be

9:37right now it couldn't have been

9:39different

9:40regarding the past that you have it

9:44couldn't be be any different

9:47the good news right now is the future is

9:50not here yet

9:52but what is The Logical consequence

9:56let's say it like this

9:58the past brought you to the present

10:02and so all the actions from this day on

10:06what you're thinking what you are saying

10:08what you are doing the way how you are

10:10behaving all of this is going to build

10:12up the future version of yourself so who

10:16you who you are going to be in 2024 25

10:20is all dependent on what from today on

10:23you're gonna do

10:25and that this type of just observing

10:28yourself realizing that there is this

10:31connection again places some type of

10:34power back into your hands

10:37and now comes the second maybe big area

10:41it is the feeling sometimes that

10:44you feel you think that you don't have

10:47your life in your hands because there

10:50are too many external

10:53uh external influences that are like

10:57yeah let's say influencing us

10:59the decisions of the government the

11:02policies that they are bringing out the

11:04development in the world the the

11:06colleagues at the work everybody your

11:10wife your your husband whoever they all

11:12influence you

11:15but if that is the case I would just ask

11:18myself the following question

11:24if the way how you feel about yourself

11:28walking through daily life if you are

11:30not satisfied with it and you want to

11:32change something about it

11:34there are now two ways

11:36either you take it into your hands

11:39or you try to change all these external

11:42stimulus all this external influences to

11:47adjust them in such a way that they are

11:50going to behave in the way how you

11:52expect them to behave

11:55so the colleagues should be exactly how

11:58you imagine your colleagues to be the

12:00government should bring out exactly the

12:02policies that you want them to bring out

12:04the world is going to develop exactly

12:08the way how you imagine it should happen

12:11and now I just ask you which of these

12:13two ways changing yourself or trying to

12:17change the outside world which of these

12:19two ways do people think is the more

12:22realistic one

12:23yourself so

12:26that's the bottom line

12:27very simple the realization of course

12:31it's natural if you don't think about

12:34exactly this type of thinking of course

12:37it's normal that we are being influenced

12:39by external things

12:42Until you realize there is no way that

12:45you could ever change all of this on the

12:48outside

12:48do you feel that being in London and

12:52seeing people and such a fast-paced life

12:55where they've got 95 job they've got

12:58bows to pay they've got the noise of the

13:00TV the radio everything's noisy the main

13:04doesn't quiet enough to see and Cam and

13:08make that decision of being in a

13:10conscience frame do you see this also

13:12how fast it is and how people are so

13:15just caught up in a life where the they

13:18feel as if that's all they can do

13:20yes

13:22of course it is fast paced of course

13:26it's not also to to say

13:29if somebody is satisfied is happy and

13:33has a fulfilling joy in living this way

13:37of life there's no need to change

13:39what we are talking about what we try to

13:42offer is

13:43if you have a job if you have a family

13:46if you have your first car your second

13:49car if you are able to travel where you

13:51would like to travel and still have the

13:53feeling

13:55something is still missing

13:58then it makes sense to start watching uh

14:02changing your view and and let's say

14:06focusing

14:07on something different

14:09yes

14:10but looking out in this world we

14:14normally say your character derives from

14:17all the habits that you have

14:19because my life has grown amazing I'm

14:22not drinking I'm not taking drugs I'm

14:24not gambling

14:26I'm successful I just retired my mum

14:28well she's now free but I never feel

14:31good enough I always feel as after

14:32something more Messing

14:35and

14:37it doesn't upset me because I get on

14:39with it but I'm conscious of I don't

14:42know if I'm not sure enough gratitude I

14:44don't know if I've become greedy for

14:46success and it's good to be successful

14:48but everybody's defense success

14:51differently but for me it's just there's

14:53always an element of something missing

14:55there's always an element of I'm not

14:57good enough what's that feeling

14:59yes

15:03it's the feeling of

15:05luck

15:06so all the

15:09all our actions in the moment we wake up

15:11if we wake up and always have constantly

15:14the feeling I am not enough this episode

15:17is sponsored by fire away Pizza

15:20the fastest growing Pizza Company in the

15:23UK with over 150 stores

15:26with the fresh quality ingredients and

15:29unique pizzas they will have you coming

15:31back for more

15:33use chord James 20 for 20 of

15:38that's James 20 for 20 of it feels like

15:43there's still some hole which always

15:45needs to be filled up again so that's

15:49why this world is offering us so many

15:52different possibilities how you can fill

15:54up this Gap that sometimes you feel

15:57about yourself how you can fill this up

15:59sometimes you can fill it up with money

16:01sometimes you can fill it up with drugs

16:03sometimes you can fill it up with other

16:06substitutes

16:08but where do all where does this feeling

16:11come from that you are not enough the

16:14god yes

16:16and this is yeah

16:19and how did it get there

16:21I don't know I think it's just years and

16:23years of disconnect

16:25not being in a state of

16:28I am good enough I do affirmations every

16:32day I do a lot of positives but I don't

16:34feel as if I'm consistent I feel as if

16:36I'm caught up in a game I feel

16:40like you think I'm in tune with life I

16:43feel like to think I have good intuition

16:44obviously those levels to it especially

16:46a master League yourself but

16:50I'm not silly either I know when there's

16:52something not right I know I should be

16:53working more but

16:55the temptation of overindogenous

17:01they're still always there and I found

17:04the strength to to

17:06cut a lot of negatives in my life I

17:08believe the most important one is

17:10controlling what you eat and I believe

17:13that's the one where

17:14I struggle the most

17:17and I feel when I eat that's my comfort

17:20that's when

17:23it's like

17:26pleasure well obviously the brain it can

17:28be pleasure in their mind and but it's

17:31it's advice that

17:33I want to go over and give my best to

17:36the world because I know

17:38then

17:40I can lead a better life for not just

17:42myself but the people around me

17:46I'm not sure about the school system

17:49here in the UK

17:50but at least in Germany when I was going

17:54to school it was still like this first

17:56grade until fourth grade is elementary

17:58school and then actually already in the

18:01fourth grade

18:02the classes are being separated based on

18:05the grading

18:06meaning some are able to go to let's say

18:09we called it like uh

18:12um

18:13you know let's say

18:16gymnasium you know one of them can go

18:19there and the other ones need to go to

18:21like the I don't know how to call it the

18:23average normal schools yeah so there's

18:26already some type of Separation

18:27happening based on the grading degrading

18:31based on all the different subjects that

18:33nowadays existing

18:36but just for example

18:37in all of the school system if there

18:40would ever if there would be a person a

18:42child sitting inside of there

18:44who may be in the future would be a

18:47person who is able to really really well

18:49communicate

18:51and doing let's say podcasts like this

18:53this is going to be his future

18:56profession where is this going to be

18:59recognized in the actual school system

19:02that is based for example really on the

19:04grading of mathematics physics biology

19:07sport

19:09so what I'm talking about is that

19:12in the way how I see the things

19:15um

19:16there are preferred there are preferred

19:20selections already taking place very

19:22very early in age already in the society

19:24where we grow up

19:26meaning that this separation is also

19:29meaning you are good enough you can

19:31proceed you are not so good you go to

19:33the lower grading schools

19:35so the separation between good and bad

19:38already takes place very early in age

19:41and this is where I for example think

19:44all of this feeling you are never enough

19:47comes from because

19:49one to four your grades must be good

19:52yeah then you start ending fifth grade

19:54until 13th grade your grades must be

19:57good because if you want to study

19:58something

19:59let's say specific your numerous Clauses

20:03has to be very very good for example

20:06even in the University even if you

20:08already uh going there

20:12still there are the good

20:15um

20:16alumnis and they are the ones who passed

20:18but with not so good grades so a lot of

20:21separation is taking place always

20:23somehow displaying you subconsciously

20:27you could have been better I was always

20:29shut to the school yeah

20:32so see and and all of this together I

20:35think is one reason why it is embedded

20:37in the mind especially of the ones here

20:40in in Western Europe growing up is that

20:43not why the system is there to make

20:45people feel like this

20:50because you talk about you look at the

20:53Skilling system there's not you're not

20:55talking about love you're not talking

20:56about money management relationships

20:59those very limited exercise cold water

21:02therapy meditation yoga

21:05it's just the system for me is a flawed

21:09system it's not working people are

21:10struggling but an all-time high and it

21:13comes from buff

21:14from the day you're born kiddos are

21:16giving birth or not back artificial

21:19lights

21:20some are giving vaccines kids are coming

21:22out drugged up they're cutting umbilical

21:24cord which is full of stem cells it's

21:26full of nutrients the place placenta is

21:30full of nutrients and from the day we're

21:32born we're given a name a religion a

21:35sports team to support

21:36as everything is labeled and for me when

21:39if you actually go right back to the

21:41very starters

21:42everything's Kingdom backwards then do

21:45you see how that then affects people

21:47later on in years

21:49so it's absolutely not my my aim for

21:52example to criticize the system or

21:54anything like this the only thing I see

21:56is the system how it is the system how

21:59it was it brings out some consequences

22:02one of these consequence is very

22:05intensively the feeling of many people

22:08not being enough

22:10foreign

22:16so how do I get rid of this hole that

22:19constantly needs to be filled up that is

22:22the main question and there I would say

22:25it is the mental it's the mental

22:28direction it's the mental state so where

22:31do I need to change it is in the mind

22:33it's in the way how I look at the world

22:38if you only look at the world based on

22:42the system that you have been raised up

22:45now of course you are then part of the

22:47system but is only this is only one out

22:50of many many systems that are existing

22:52in this world

22:54so starting to expand the mind starting

22:57to also look at other people how are

22:59they living the life

23:02that maybe opens up now suddenly another

23:05perspective that oh there is something

23:08Beyond

23:10having good grades

23:12there is something more

23:15relevant maybe more important

23:18more life accepting

23:23than running after grades and filling up

23:26your life with with more and more

23:29burdens that at the end also don't make

23:31you feel more free

23:32it just makes you feel more heavy

23:34because that one system is trying to

23:39fill up that hole inside of you always

23:41by

23:44putting something more on top of you

23:47because this is what we're doing in the

23:49beginning we don't have money we work

23:51until we have the first amount of money

23:54then you have it you spend it

23:57whatever you have spended on it's not

23:59enough

24:00it was enough for that one day when you

24:03spend it they are the feeling of

24:05fullness or satisfaction was quickly

24:07there

24:08but it's the same in the beginning it's

24:10a gulf a Volkswagen

24:12then maybe a BMW one day you just keep

24:16working no problem it's gonna be a

24:18Porsche

24:19but it's not going to end at the Porsche

24:21promised it is going to be the second

24:23Porsche or it's going to be another car

24:25in the beginning it was not even a

24:28smartphone it's like the big huge ones

24:30meanwhile technology has moved on but it

24:34has become normal that we are just

24:37simply spending the money on things that

24:40I don't know

24:42it has become convenient

24:44but it's not

24:46nowadays it's not even filling up any

24:48capture anymore

24:50because in our tradition we think yeah

24:54it's the wrong approach

24:56how did you get into Buddhism

25:00I actually got introduced to what

25:03nowadays is known as Buddhism through my

25:06martial art teachers

25:09because in this tradition where I

25:12studied in

25:14the Buddhist teachings and the martial

25:16arts are very very close related to each

25:18other I hope so

25:20yes I told you very much from the

25:24beginning

25:25that

25:27I don't want and that I'm also not going

25:30to like display any of these teachings

25:33in terms of religious teachings because

25:35this is not what it's about for me

25:39a very very nice explanation what

25:42actually is this Buddhism what is it

25:45it's a method

25:47that helps you to see the things as they

25:51are finished

25:53so already hearing that sentence somehow

25:56implies yeah so does it mean that we

25:59humans don't see the things as they are

26:02yes exactly

26:04many people don't see the things as they

26:07are what does it mean

26:09for example this picture that we had

26:10before that it's always about

26:13up

26:15up more it needs to be filled up more

26:18you know it's never enough so you you

26:21want something you work for it you get

26:23it in the moment you get it you already

26:25have the next that you want and it

26:27always moves on up this ladder you

26:29always try to fill it up with something

26:32this is also maybe one type of

26:36um approach that this Society this world

26:39nowadays also wants to promote to you

26:41that it's about having more

26:44being more beautiful higher faster

26:46harder

26:49all of this

26:50but

26:51when we simply observe how the things

26:54are

26:55right now yeah it's 1 pm UK looking

27:00outside the sun is still shining but in

27:03seven hours it's not gonna look like

27:05this anymore

27:07in seven hours something has

27:09dramatically changed which meaning the

27:12daylight is gone so what we then have is

27:14what we call Simply night

27:17since we are born in this world this has

27:19repeated

27:20every day

27:21Sunrise sun goes down

27:24so that means there is a up there is a

27:26Down

27:28since we are born we have inhaled 50 of

27:31our times we have exhaled fifty percent

27:34of our of our times

27:37our heart the same

27:39sucking the blood pumping The Blood also

27:41the same meaning always 50 50. always

27:45the exchange between left and right up

27:48and down bright and dark in and out

27:52success

27:54and failure

27:56it's just that this world is not

27:58propagating failure to you

28:00it is propagating success to you so our

28:03our mind is looking for success

28:07starting to believe there's only one way

28:10there's only one direction in this life

28:12that we live which is about moving

28:14upwards

28:16but this world is not just about upwards

28:20so realizing this really understanding

28:24it's not just about up it's not just

28:26about taking

28:28it's about taking

28:30and giving

28:31it's about relaxing

28:34and doing

28:37it's about exchange it's about constant

28:39Exchange

28:41with you your peers

28:43with people around you with the world

28:45it's about exchange because exchange

28:48means there is a change that's

28:51constantly happening some transformation

28:54and this is what out there this is what

28:58everything is built upon what should

29:01daily routine like yes so in the

29:05monastery for example there is a very

29:07fixed structure which means around six

29:11o'clock in summertime waking up seven

29:13o'clock then we have so-called

29:15meditation practices eight o'clock is

29:18breakfast time

29:20then 9 until 11 we have the first

29:22martial art training a two-hour session

29:26followed up by two hours of working time

29:29which means we are a community

29:33on a quite large area where we need to

29:37um yeah do all different type of work

29:40cleaning work kitchen work all of these

29:43things office work as well so at one

29:46o'clock we have lunch after lunch it's

29:48break time until 3 pm

29:51and three until five PM another two

29:53hours training time then 6 p.m dinner

29:57and seven until nine another evening

30:00practice and at nine o'clock normally is

30:03our daily ending ceremony and so around

30:0710 o'clock plus minus we're able to go

30:11into bed

30:12and this type of structure when somebody

30:15stays in the monastery is Monday till

30:18Saturday

30:19365 days normally throughout the year

30:22yeah but meanwhile for example that we

30:25are

30:26having so many different guests also

30:29internationally coming sometimes it

30:32changes a little bit but this is

30:34normally the main structure

30:37and I think also for

30:40maybe your audience

30:42would be also interesting to think about

30:46this type of thought that

30:49of course we are in the 21st century and

30:53freedom is something important

30:56but there are two different types of

30:58freedom

30:59the freedom that I wake up when I want

31:02to that I eat when I want to that I eat

31:04what I want to eat that I go to work

31:07when I want to go to work so I do the

31:10things when I'm in the mood to do them

31:12and if I'm not in the mood I don't do

31:13them this is also a type of Freedom you

31:16could say yes that is free

31:19this is not the freedom when in our

31:21tradition we talk about

31:25because

31:26this daily structure that I just told

31:28you

31:29that doesn't sound even like Freedom

31:31that more sounds like a voluntary prison

31:35that you're putting yourself in but and

31:38in a way this is very right

31:41because from morning six o'clock until

31:44evening 9 pm

31:47there is no space for you yourself to

31:50decide what am I supposed to do

31:53because the monasteries of the community

31:55where we are living in we are saying

31:58what needs to be done

32:00yeah this is one reason when somebody

32:03goes into such a community why it's

32:05called Community work

32:07because it's not your personal interest

32:09first of all that's in the foreground it

32:13is the community that you are that you

32:15are working on

32:16so what is it you practice number one

32:19you practice to be selfless

32:22you wake up and the time that you invest

32:24is not just about you you are investing

32:27the time for the community

32:30everything every hour

32:32is very strictly planned

32:35and in the beginning when people come

32:37into this type of structure imagine it's

32:41super super difficult for people to cope

32:43with this because you feel like oh I'm

32:45tired I want to sleep right now yeah but

32:47you can't sleep because it's just

32:48trading time

32:50or but actually now I would like to go

32:52out with my friends because all my other

32:54friends also go out yeah but you can't

32:56go out because now is the evening

32:57ceremony and afterwards you go to bed so

33:00in the very beginning there are many

33:02many conflicts

33:04while you stay in the monastery you

33:07don't have relationships inside there

33:09that's where it comes from that oh this

33:13Buddhist rules they are so strict they

33:15don't allow anything no it's not they

33:18don't allow anything

33:20it is you are testing yourself

33:22discipline yes

33:25you are testing yourself how much

33:28control

33:30can you have about your own mind

33:34because after some time

33:37despite this very hard structure

33:40suddenly you even with this heart

33:42structure you start suddenly to be okay

33:44with all of it

33:46it's okay for you to wake up at six it's

33:48okay for you to do the work the cleaning

33:51work it's okay for you that there's

33:52training it's okay that there is this

33:55type of structure and now the freedom

33:58has come

34:00because now even if things are put onto

34:03you which seem unnatural still inside of

34:07you nothing change because inside you

34:10already have started to actually accept

34:12and adjust it's about you on the inside

34:15the freedom is not based on the

34:18circumstances

34:20the freedom that we want is the one

34:22inside here

34:23because it's never gonna happen in this

34:26world that we as humans are able to go

34:29out on the street

34:32and decide for yourself with what you

34:35want to face out there

34:37it's not going to happen

34:38see with so much structure and

34:40discipline is there a time to laugh and

34:44joke or is it so

34:46caught up with

34:48doing what you do for discipline and

34:50stay on that path for her because I love

34:52to laugh every I for me I think it

34:54sometimes my life kind of gets me

34:56through the pain but

34:59well after they say it's the greatest

35:00medicine but

35:03I feel because as a kid as a baby a baby

35:06smiles till at 300 400 times a day by

35:10the time you're 18 years old you smile

35:13less than 10 so something gets took away

35:16from that and since that Purity but from

35:19your side of things and what you do if

35:21the discipline do is have a laugh and

35:22make jokes or is it just kind of serious

35:26and working internally

35:29of course you have moments because it's

35:31like a community

35:32and Community also All in the Family

35:36sometimes if you have talks with your

35:38father they are that serious

35:40but it's not the whole time that it's

35:43that serious sometimes also with your

35:45father with your mother with your

35:46brother with your sisters of course

35:48there are like also more a human

35:52uh elements inside so of course it's

35:55happening it's just that the general

35:57outline

35:58is still there that we say there are a

36:01few things about the development of our

36:04mind we need to have a guideline where

36:07we want to get

36:08and that is the one for example that we

36:11call we want to develop this discipline

36:14because it can happen yes you stay

36:17inside these monastic walls under these

36:19rules two years three years it's strict

36:21it's hard it's not a lot of fun yeah

36:24because the fun comes afterwards

36:27because afterwards there is not much

36:29anymore that can somehow bring you out

36:32of balance because this is what what you

36:36find when you deal with yourself for a

36:38long time

36:39you find yourself

36:41how do you find yourself

36:43where to look for well you need to spend

36:47more time with you less with external

36:51things

36:52do you try and keep a balance then where

36:55it's not a drink drugs or sex and then

36:58depression and then it's like do you is

37:00it more balanced for

37:02that sort of Lifestyle let's say like

37:05this on the long term

37:07I would say

37:08having a balanced life a harmonious life

37:12that is the key that is the let's say

37:15one of the goats let's call it like this

37:17but in order to get there

37:20first of all if you want to have a

37:22balanced life you need to know what is

37:25there that needs to be balanced

37:27balance meaning there's always at least

37:29two this and this minimum

37:32so to balance out so meaning to put

37:35those two in the proper ratio I need to

37:38know what is this what is this one here

37:41what is that

37:43and then I need to understand okay and

37:45now what is this

37:47and afterwards what does this

37:50has to do with that one and then by

37:53trying out

37:55but then one day you realize ah okay

38:00so that means yes of course we want

38:02balance but the way to get there the way

38:06to achieve to be able to adjust this

38:08balance means sometimes we need to go to

38:12these let's say

38:14um

38:15to these counterparts

38:17yeah that also meaning for example

38:22it's extremely difficult to tell a

38:25person nowadays listen money is not the

38:29most important in the world focus more

38:31on relationships focus more on love

38:34build up a community go into the nature

38:38this is the important part in life

38:42I think

38:43to this realization only somebody can

38:47come

38:48who had it already

38:50who had the money

38:52who has the fame who has the reputation

38:55who has the success who had the car

38:58maybe whatever

39:01first you need to have it

39:03to realize that's not it this is what

39:07I'ma I thought Fame I thought money

39:09attention would give me fulfill the

39:11pieces put all the glass and broken

39:13glass together but it's me it's not made

39:16it worse because my family eat well

39:18they're doing amazing but I'm at the

39:21realization where

39:22it's all it doesn't mean

39:24anything because I know internally I

39:26feel more alive on top of a mountain

39:28cold water therapy

39:31an exercise meditation I'll do it from

39:34time to time I'm not I'm I know it

39:37quietens my mind if I do it first thing

39:39in the morning but the laziness kicks in

39:41where and I think I'm free I'll do it at

39:458am then it becomes 11AM and then I'll

39:48maybe do it and then I'll I've missed

39:50half the day but when you talk about the

39:52structures kinda made the realization

39:54okay because I'm supposed to be

39:55exercising with my friend Cami

39:58he's up at sexy aim there's a place

40:00called f45

40:03and for the last four or five weeks I

40:05was supposed to go I made it once

40:08once I went

40:10[Music]

40:12yes so it's made me realize okay and I

40:15need to mix a lot of other changes

40:19do you ever get angry

40:21of course

40:23of course these things come up

40:26but angriness for example is just one of

40:30the

40:31let's say it's just one of the

40:34challenges

40:36we are going to be

40:40put on this challenge

40:42I think every human being in this world

40:44will get angry in this lifetime

40:48and you will also every time you get

40:51angry you always have the chance also to

40:53see for yourself what does angriness do

40:57for you or do against you

41:00the same as everybody in this world is

41:03going to get jealous

41:04sometimes about things sometimes about

41:07people

41:09we all gonna get jealous we all gonna

41:12get angry we all gonna get sad we all

41:14gonna get depressed we all gonna get

41:16frustrated we all gonna feel

41:19Joyful We all gonna feel

41:22happy

41:24the question now is

41:26which of all of these different emotions

41:30how are you placing them how do you see

41:32the connection for yourself

41:35with all of these emotions

41:37yes

41:38and

41:40there I can simply say angriness in this

41:43world

41:45it's just like

41:48is burning something

41:50that maybe you have collected for a long

41:53time

41:55in Buddhist teaching for example is one

41:57saying if you get angry

41:59it's like you are lighting a fire and

42:02this fire is burning all the wood that

42:05you have collected for many many Winters

42:08this is like you get angry in a

42:10relationship in this angriness there is

42:12the energy there's the power inside the

42:14anger which can

42:18bring out words bring out actions and

42:21with these actions you can destroy quite

42:23a lot of what you have maybe built up

42:25for a long time in your relationships in

42:28your family with your friends and so

42:31therefore we say angriness is a quite

42:34powerful is a quite powerful let's say

42:38Force

42:39and it's necessary

42:42that you get a good relationship to it

42:44in order to know how to adjust it for

42:47yourself

42:48how important are words

42:51speak how important is it the way you

42:54talk into the universe

43:03I have become very careful when I start

43:08speaking out or bringing out words even

43:10if these words are only in the mind

43:13because

43:15once the words are out

43:17it's very difficult to somehow take them

43:21back

43:22it's like for example the same like

43:24together with the example before be

43:27careful if you talk to a friend or

43:29anything just one insult

43:33just one inside one wrong word in the

43:36wrong moment

43:37of course you can apologize

43:40but it will never take back the spoken

43:43word

43:44your friend your partner they still

43:46remember

43:47it's not in your hands anymore so if you

43:51don't want that any word from you

43:54because you spoke it ever stays

43:57remaining in the world you have to be

44:00careful what you bring out

44:02and this is not just now the part where

44:05words can fall back to you

44:08it is also meaning if you use it in the

44:10proper way

44:12how you can also shape your own mindset

44:15because if you think about I cannot do

44:18it

44:20when somebody says hey why don't you

44:22make the driver license ah anyway I

44:24cannot drive I can't do it I'm scared

44:27I'm frustrated I'm too nervous if this

44:30is the the words you speak out this is

44:32what you think well this is what's gonna

44:34happen I think

44:35yeah the Law of Attraction do you

44:37believe in energies and frequencies and

44:39auras everything's energy

44:44is not I believe in them I know they are

44:47there

44:48it's just from time to time

44:50and in different Traditions it's

44:52expressed with different words with

44:55different terminologies some call it

44:57vibration some call it frequency some

45:01call it light some call it Darkness

45:04they fall they all fall in quite the

45:07same category

45:08meaning yes there is something

45:12that needs to be

45:14adjusted or something where you need to

45:18get in resonance with

45:21see the as a pine cone

45:24on top of because I have photos of like

45:27Buddhism and I've read a lot of books my

45:29mum and my mom's Garden it's like all

45:32Buddhism statues as as the Western way

45:34we feel is effort more connected because

45:36we have a few

45:38statues and stuff but that's the way we

45:40are here and see the pine cone is it a

45:43little pine cone is that anything to do

45:45with the pineal gland in the middle of

45:47the brain where they say the pineal

45:49gland is a seat of the soul for the

45:52third eye how correct is that

45:57I cannot prove it to you

46:01but my personal opinion is there is a

46:04strong connection yes yeah so I mean you

46:07look at many different cultures you

46:09always find something which is pointing

46:12either at the number three

46:14either at something which is here

46:17so

46:18the third eye often sometimes called

46:21even in the Buddhist teachings you see

46:24there's always that one eye

46:26displayed in the Egypt Traditions you

46:29see the Eye of Horus

46:32and so there are many many many

46:36signs let's say that would be too much

46:39of a coincidence that I don't believe in

46:42yeah in all of these different cultures

46:44because even the Egyptian things of the

46:47eye and the pineal gland and

46:50there's powerful stuff when you when you

46:53go into it and try and understand it

46:55more seeing the Buddhist teachings why

46:57do you shave the head

47:00so first of all nowadays it has just

47:02become super practical

47:04practical in terms of I wake up in the

47:07morning it doesn't take like five

47:09minutes and I'm out of the bathroom

47:10again because more or less I don't need

47:12to take care

47:14of how which which hairstyle I have for

47:18example in the past traditionally wise

47:21monasteries were built upon a community

47:24meaning there are really many many

47:27inhabitants inside the monastery and if

47:30everybody would have to take care in the

47:33morning about the hygiene first of all

47:35it would cost a lot of time

47:38yes and second of all it's just very

47:40impractical also when we practice the

47:42martial arts

47:44and For a symbolic meaning like I said

47:47before everybody is born with a worldly

47:50name but when you enter into the

47:52monastic way of life you take the order

47:55name

47:56and this is also like a symbol cutting

47:58of the hair it's like you're leaving the

48:02worldly uh

48:04the wealthy life behind and start a

48:08different way of life

48:10yes but nowadays for me it has just

48:13become more practical yeah I'm starting

48:15to lose my hair anyway so I think I'll

48:17be there the next couple of months

48:18because the Native Americans I used to

48:21always feel a connection with them and

48:23they use the grow their hair and I think

48:25they believe that was connected to the

48:27central nervous system where they could

48:28don't know if it was they had more

48:31heightened of being in danger there was

48:34a story of they used to shave hair and

48:36grow hair and

48:38it was out it was something to do with

48:40the war but they had their own beliefs

48:42and it was mad how everybody in this

48:43world has different beliefs and

48:45different opinions and

48:47for your own opinion what do you think

48:48life is

48:51such a deep question and weird question

48:53but I've never really

48:55I don't ask so many people and I've

48:58never

48:59all the people have interviewed

49:01I've interviewed people from all walks

49:03of life from homeless men to

49:04billionaires porn stars Killers drug

49:07lords inspirational people

49:10one thing I figured though is

49:13nobody knows what's going on

49:17and that's why I always ask that

49:18question because

49:21I don't know I feel as if everybody's

49:23gets so the start on this planet pure

49:26innocent and then just life just takes

49:29them on different directions and I guess

49:31that's the maybe that's the way it

49:33should be but for your own opinion why

49:34do you think humans are actually here

49:39first of all I think it's a very

49:43um

49:43personal

49:46statement that everybody needs to do for

49:50himself meaning also

49:53it's similar what's the sense of life

49:58you give your life a sense if you before

50:02you you start walking through the day

50:04with no sense of Life the easiest thing

50:07would be you give your life a sense

50:10meaning you give yourself a purpose

50:12nobody can tell you hey this is not a

50:15sense of life this is not the purpose of

50:18life it's not about what other people

50:20say it's about what makes you wake up in

50:23the morning liking to wake up liking or

50:27what is fueling yourself that you wake

50:30up what are you looking forward to to do

50:35for some people it is I like to express

50:38myself on the stage

50:40I like to go and and build on my cars I

50:43like to express myself in playing the

50:46piano some people I like to take care of

50:49animals yeah I like to write books in

50:52order to share knowledge with the world

50:54it's all fine if this is their purpose

50:57if this is the mission you have put upon

51:00yourself which is fueling you this is

51:02one way where I think

51:04um

51:05it's already better than having no

51:09Direction

51:10but at the same time also like you also

51:13said in the beginning everything is

51:16white everything is pure

51:18and then Things become serious

51:21this is where also nowadays

51:24different

51:26teachings different insights come from

51:29calling yeah sometimes it's necessary to

51:31bring out the inner child sometimes it's

51:34called

51:35Bring Out The Joy bring delightfulness

51:37the lightness back

51:41yeah why is the lightness gone because

51:43it has because life has become too heavy

51:47too heavy with possession

51:50too heavy with obligations

51:53too heavy with responsibilities there

51:57are many different things that can make

51:59one's life become and feel heavy

52:02so you want to become pure again you

52:05want to become light again well it's

52:07time to cut off some things

52:10and not add on

52:12the adding on is what this world already

52:14is propagating this is what many people

52:17are living in

52:18the world of adding stuff up

52:21why because like we said before we don't

52:25feel enough that's why we keep on adding

52:28also realizing right now yeah but when

52:31will I finally be full never

52:34with this approach never

52:37because you keep on looking for the

52:39answer

52:40on the outside

52:42but

52:44this year we have to change

52:46our internal view on the world what do

52:50you want to what do you personally want

52:53to see in the world what do you think is

52:56missing in the world

52:58if you could be the creator of this

53:00world

53:01and you see something is missing right

53:03now to make this world the place how you

53:06would like to to see it and live in it

53:09what would it be

53:12more kindness

53:14more understanding amongst people good

53:17then you're the one who starts with it

53:20you are the one who's going to initiate

53:22this movement

53:24the movement of more kindness towards to

53:27people more work for the community more

53:30understanding more connection whatever

53:32it is you think is missing

53:35that's already the next purpose

53:39so the next mission of this life maybe

53:41or can be

53:48it might be your job to create

53:52it might be your privilege to create

53:59no sometimes nowadays

54:01people live this life people have this

54:04body people are able to speak people are

54:07able to experience but

54:10let's say they are still thinking about

54:13let's say committing suicide for example

54:16happens

54:17so you have an existence that has been

54:20given to you yet

54:22you are not loving this existence you

54:24are not appreciating this existence you

54:27are the one who would like to end it

54:29and then I just remind myself always

54:32again how many

54:36how many

54:38beings

54:40are there that are simply not born they

54:43wished to be born

54:46they wished to have the chance that we

54:48have been able to just sit here in this

54:51room having a conversation

54:54and why can how why can we do this

54:57because we have been gifted with the

54:59body we have been gifted with the

55:02ability that we can develop throughout

55:04the lifetime when we grow up

55:06so actually what we have this life that

55:09has been given to us like the present

55:13it's like a gift the gift to cultivate

55:17to take as good care of it as possible

55:20and automatically by thinking like this

55:22means you need to love this one

55:26you need to like it

55:28because this is what carries you on this

55:31journey without this one

55:33you can't do any of your dreams you

55:36cannot fulfill any of your wishes

55:38because this

55:40is the one who starts to manifest it

55:43this year or this year is the one who

55:46can see the things

55:48is what can fill the things

55:51but it's not the one this one this one

55:54is not enough to make it become real

55:57to make it become real we need action

56:01we need the real effort and work that

56:05has been done by the human body

56:09yes

56:10and this is now exactly that relation

56:13why this

56:15heart and intensive training regimen

56:19together with what we call Buddhism why

56:23those two merge together so good

56:25because in the martial arts it's all

56:28about the practice it's about doing

56:31you want to do Chinese split

56:34well it's not enough to dream about it

56:37you want to kick high it's not enough to

56:40imagine you can kick High you want to

56:42kick High there is a step-by-step

56:44instruction how to get there

56:47you want to punch hard there's a

56:49step-by-step instruction how to develop

56:52it

56:53you want to condition your body there's

56:55a step-by-step instruction how to do it

56:58you want to have

57:00a balanced solid joyful life

57:04it has a step-by-step instruction how to

57:07do it

57:08this is where martial art and the

57:12ideology of living this life how they

57:15why they merge so good together because

57:18the principles are the same

57:20the principles how to develop it is the

57:24same

57:24this is like that special part why it

57:27has always been my emphasis in promoting

57:31movement first

57:33the usage of the body first

57:36yes and actually here in the UK

57:39especially here in London I mean you are

57:42really lucky because you have you have

57:44two of the very very famous Shaolin

57:47Brothers here in the Shaolin Temple UK

57:50one of them shifuyenza and the other one

57:53is Shifu Yan lay

57:56they are being regarded by Master uncles

58:00and they have also been here now since

58:02many many years

58:04and are exactly trying to also offer

58:06this to the people

58:09we want to change the mind we want that

58:12our life becomes better but how do we do

58:14it we need the action we need the

58:17practice

58:18and that one starts with the body

58:22very simple like this how important is

58:25it to write things down that you want to

58:27improve and you want to change because I

58:29was always the last few years that they

58:31call it spelling for a reason as if

58:33you're putting spells into the universe

58:34but if you're writing positivity and

58:36writing goals at 60 or 70 more likely to

58:40happen is that that important for

58:43the Buddhism say the things as well do

58:45you believe in writings a powerful tool

58:47for making change

58:50this might not relate

58:53um one-to-one from Buddhist tradition so

58:56I wouldn't take it from there

58:58but

59:00to get something from the mind

59:03to get to the real world

59:06needs manifestation this is what in my

59:08terms is called manifestation as long as

59:11it's still in the mind it's not

59:12manifested it's Dream It's a vision

59:16that you have

59:17but I only I have it if I keep it here

59:21you don't even know about it so the

59:23first manifestation is I can speak it

59:26out

59:27so that you hear it so that means

59:29already one person knows about

59:31my vision but still nothing has happened

59:35the second state of manifestation is you

59:38put it down on paper

59:41so manifestation meaning giving what is

59:45in here giving it a form

59:48this form can mean

59:51words words are a form but it can also

59:55mean in written language so write it

59:58down it's also a form

1:00:01some people record also one type of

1:00:04manifestation but it's it's better

1:00:07if it's important for you to start with

1:00:10it it's better to just keep it here

1:00:13because in here things change

1:00:15on the paper once it's written down and

1:00:18you don't burn it it stays

1:00:20see for the martial arts side of things

1:00:24do you ever do one-on-one combat yes

1:00:27and how is that following teachings and

1:00:29love and pieces at for them how does

1:00:32that work with the balance of one-on-one

1:00:35combat do you have that for me I always

1:00:38want to win I will take my kids we go

1:00:41play bowling

1:00:42I don't like the one I know it's bad but

1:00:45I I was raised to always trying one and

1:00:48competing and all of a sudden

1:00:49everybody's teachings and beliefs are

1:00:51different but when you do one in one

1:00:53combat are you and your main set out to

1:00:56win as a friendly or how does it work

1:01:00so when we do friendly spurring of

1:01:03course this is together with the

1:01:05training partners that are also since

1:01:07many years sometimes are already

1:01:08training with yourself

1:01:10if you go to competition sometimes you

1:01:13of course meet people you didn't train

1:01:15before with them but still there are

1:01:17some rules you also have the gloves on

1:01:19you have the protection on

1:01:21but nevertheless

1:01:24putting yourself in such a situation

1:01:27is also

1:01:29a challenge that is resembling the

1:01:32things that we meet in normal life you

1:01:36cannot always choose with who you are

1:01:38dealing with

1:01:39so to test yourself if everything that

1:01:42you have learned is still working under

1:01:45pressure

1:01:46means you have to be put under pressure

1:01:50yeah and one of my master uncles that I

1:01:54talked about before he sometimes said

1:01:57told me a very nice story

1:02:01how he sees that how does this combat

1:02:04this fighting this training how to fight

1:02:06how does this help you with this idea of

1:02:10balance and harmony

1:02:12it is because in the in in the training

1:02:16Hall in the gym when you do the hard

1:02:18workout when you do the sparring when

1:02:21you know how much you are able to sweat

1:02:24how much pain you can take how much pain

1:02:27you can give

1:02:28because of this experience

1:02:32it makes you feel calm

1:02:34to walk on the street

1:02:37this is why you can stay balanced this

1:02:40is why external stimulus don't shake you

1:02:43off too much

1:02:45because you have already experienced

1:02:48this way how is it when your body and

1:02:51your mind is put between different let's

1:02:53say

1:02:54different extremes

1:02:57or into stressful situations

1:03:00so the reason why to cultivate that

1:03:04strength that discipline is that out

1:03:06here

1:03:07you can relax more

1:03:09you don't need to be afraid walking

1:03:12walking sometimes

1:03:15alone in the dark through certain areas

1:03:19there's no way to stay calm

1:03:21if you don't have some type of

1:03:23confidence inside of yourself

1:03:25and so this is where it comes from

1:03:28yeah we want the harmony we want the

1:03:31balance but how do you get it

1:03:35because you have put yourself before

1:03:37already oftentimes to the test

1:03:41if you have never witnessed felt how is

1:03:45it to face somebody who also like wants

1:03:48to hit you

1:03:49then it's difficult

1:03:51then you can

1:03:53imagine in the mind how it is but

1:03:55imagining is not the same like

1:03:57experiencing it yeah read the books in

1:04:00back home inspiring and every time I'm

1:04:02scared but every time after I fuse if I

1:04:06conquered something I feel there's no

1:04:08feeling in the world that gives me the

1:04:09pleasure of sparring I had a boxing

1:04:12fight two years ago and

1:04:13the kid I was saying it was big it was

1:04:15strong he was a favorite

1:04:17and they were talking about how old I

1:04:20was and how fat I was but what they

1:04:24wouldn't talk about was how up I

1:04:25am on here

1:04:26and I went and ever since I've always

1:04:30I've always done it because

1:04:32the watches and the success and the

1:04:35podcast and the money

1:04:38I it doesn't give me the feeling of

1:04:40combat but doesn't give me the feeling

1:04:42of shaking someone's hand and feeling as

1:04:44if I've overcame I fear I feel that I've

1:04:47had for many years I was always loud I

1:04:49was always a shaman but that's because I

1:04:51was I was so scared I was so broken I

1:04:54was so much in pain and

1:04:56the more I'm realizing life and try to

1:04:58understand it a bit more I don't know if

1:05:00I would truly ever have all the answers

1:05:02but

1:05:04but we can only try we learn from the

1:05:07mistakes I think some do but life is

1:05:11just a it's an amazing journey as well

1:05:13if we can find that balance see when

1:05:15you're going

1:05:17and you're doing your combat and the

1:05:20feeling after it when when are you at

1:05:22your happiest was always a state of Cam

1:05:26do you ever get algis of Happy

1:05:28afterwards you mean like combat are

1:05:31working out or meditation when are you

1:05:34you're the most blissful

1:05:39mostly after you know that you have put

1:05:44yourself either your mind or your body

1:05:46through some certain threshold

1:05:49this is where I would say some type of

1:05:51satisfaction starts to rise

1:05:53meaning that

1:05:55some growth is starting to hit in but

1:05:59because you have just

1:06:01challenged yourself before I would in

1:06:04general I would put it into all of these

1:06:05situations which also refers to all

1:06:09different types of conditioning stamina

1:06:11training you can go run for a long time

1:06:13and be happy afterwards

1:06:16so also when you're feeling really

1:06:18really tired

1:06:20so the body must be used then I think

1:06:24it's a good guarantee that the mind will

1:06:26be at ease how important is knowledge

1:06:29written books and understanding

1:06:31different philosophies and different

1:06:33means how important is knowledge for I

1:06:37wouldn't say freedom but to

1:06:39to educate the say knowledge is power

1:06:43um but how important is that for

1:06:45yourself to

1:06:47be reading and educating us that only

1:06:50certain the only reason what they read

1:06:52about other things

1:06:54so me personally I mentioned often times

1:06:57already

1:06:58when I grew up I was rarely reading so I

1:07:02read what I had to read when my teacher

1:07:04told me to read something

1:07:06just recently I started let's say if I'm

1:07:12if I'm interested in something

1:07:15then I just do my own research and then

1:07:18start reading about it

1:07:20But ultimately

1:07:22I think

1:07:26this world is not missing knowledge

1:07:30because

1:07:33you just go on

1:07:35our beloved

1:07:37search engine Google

1:07:39you ask Google anything he knows

1:07:41everything

1:07:42you know so it means knowledge is

1:07:44available to everyone

1:07:46the big problem is how do you get

1:07:49knowledge to become practice

1:07:52how do you use the knowledge really and

1:07:55integrate it into into your daily life

1:07:59this is the hard part

1:08:01and therefore in our tradition we say

1:08:04knowledge means nothing

1:08:08without the willingness

1:08:10to put the knowledge into practice this

1:08:14is the difficult part

1:08:16people know drinking too much is not

1:08:18good

1:08:19people know smoking too much is not good

1:08:22people know what is proper to say what

1:08:25is not proper to say people know it's

1:08:28still in some situations it comes out

1:08:31still people take certain things yeah

1:08:34why is it because the knowledge was just

1:08:38not enough to change this willingness to

1:08:41put it into practice

1:08:43and again we are I always return back

1:08:46because this is the main point

1:08:48is not the knowledge it's not the theory

1:08:51it's not about what we know what we are

1:08:53supposed to do what we can do what we

1:08:56should do

1:08:59now it's about using the body first of

1:09:02all and express

1:09:04life through your body

1:09:07by movement

1:09:10it's super strange Maybe

1:09:13on the one side we talk about sadness

1:09:14all different types of emotions about

1:09:16addictions all of these things yeah and

1:09:19my answer is

1:09:21get to know your body better

1:09:24how important is meditation

1:09:29meditation in terms of calming the mind

1:09:33is very important

1:09:35because

1:09:37without this calmness of the Mind

1:09:40it's very likely that people will take

1:09:43just wrong decisions along this lifetime

1:09:48let's say like this

1:09:49so to put it really simple

1:09:51in this in this

1:09:53bottle right now you see it's like still

1:09:56we have clear water inside

1:09:59which let's say resembles our mind

1:10:04now

1:10:06I can put yellow color in it

1:10:09and then the water will look yellowish I

1:10:12can put dirt in it and shake it and then

1:10:15it's gonna look brownish in all of these

1:10:18cases I can boil the water so with some

1:10:20heat

1:10:21in all of these cases if I would look

1:10:24through it

1:10:25it would be impossible that I see your

1:10:28face clearly

1:10:31so which means every time that my mind

1:10:35has a tint

1:10:37it's boiling

1:10:39it's it's shaking it's wavering there is

1:10:44dirt inside it's impossible to see you

1:10:47clearly I cannot see you clearly so if

1:10:50somebody would ask me so describe me how

1:10:52does James look and there's a well he

1:10:55has like yellow eyes

1:10:57yeah well no so what does it mean every

1:11:02time your mind is not calm

1:11:04[Music]

1:11:06it's difficult to see how the things are

1:11:10but I need to take a decision so

1:11:13somebody asked me so tell me

1:11:15what should I do should I go left should

1:11:17I go right

1:11:19if your picture is not clear it's

1:11:21difficult to take the right decision

1:11:24and what is it that this meditation

1:11:26practices many times do

1:11:29the meditation practice is what helps

1:11:32you to practice that this

1:11:35calms down if there's dirt inside

1:11:39the dirt will sink down to the floor it

1:11:42may be still down here but this one it

1:11:44will be clear again if it was was shaky

1:11:47before and you do meditation the shaking

1:11:49becomes less

1:11:51this is what simply said why we call it

1:11:55mind exercising training the mind

1:11:59train the mind to do what to be calm to

1:12:02stay clear

1:12:04and with this clarity now now we take

1:12:07decisions

1:12:08yeah what about silent meditation

1:12:12that's the one I talk about how long

1:12:14have you ever went without speaking

1:12:17normally we have like three day Retreats

1:12:20or sometimes seven day Retreats and

1:12:22sometimes through some

1:12:25um special ceremonies can be certain

1:12:28days also for example but this silent

1:12:31Retreats are normally not a part of the

1:12:34tradition where we come from so I tried

1:12:37it out for myself

1:12:38it also helps to become more sensitive

1:12:42for all other senses that you have

1:12:46and also you learn that

1:12:49getting information is not always

1:12:51necessary to speak

1:12:53what about water fasting

1:12:5624 hours three days five days where it's

1:12:59just water and cleansing a system to use

1:13:01do that

1:13:05it's not

1:13:06[Music]

1:13:06um

1:13:07it's not an integral part within our

1:13:09tradition but we have practitioners and

1:13:13also teachers that do it based on their

1:13:15own um

1:13:17based on their own interests let's say

1:13:19like this what about sungazing

1:13:21uh also not not really they say the

1:13:24sun's the main energy source where this

1:13:27is where you get your nutrition people I

1:13:29know in India look directly at the Sun

1:13:31ever if I'm grown from the air fruit and

1:13:33veg is because it's got the sun's energy

1:13:35but it's just I'm just open-minded to

1:13:39everything and everybody's and I'm just

1:13:40trying to find a pattern that works for

1:13:43me but I feel as if because I'm in this

1:13:47and vitamin of creating podcasts and

1:13:50content a Philadelphia I struggle to

1:13:53switch off because the technology in my

1:13:55phone is a lot of information there's a

1:13:57lot of

1:13:58I can post something and it makes me

1:14:00feel good even though it's false and I'm

1:14:02aware of this I'm I don't I'm not silly

1:14:06enough to not be aware of it but why do

1:14:09you think we gravitate towards these

1:14:11these this fake area of life and it

1:14:14makes us feel a little bit

1:14:16self-importance for a very short time

1:14:20why do you think is a human being

1:14:21gravitate towards the external stuff

1:14:24more

1:14:26I think it's based on

1:14:30on the level of your personal

1:14:33development

1:14:36and sooner or later if things repeat

1:14:38often enough always with the same result

1:14:41you will come up with your own

1:14:42conclusions so for me personally I

1:14:45really think this is just

1:14:47also like the challenge a challenge

1:14:50personal challenge for yourself along

1:14:53this journey

1:14:55meaning

1:14:56you asked yourself

1:14:58you already asked the question

1:15:01I cannot answer it to you but I'm very

1:15:04sure the answer is going to come to you

1:15:06yeah what about afterlife

1:15:11it's difficult for me to prove to anyone

1:15:14also I think personal belief personal

1:15:18opinion

1:15:19but

1:15:23like I mentioned before where there's

1:15:25left there's right where there's up

1:15:27there's downwards in is out now it's day

1:15:30later we have night and in another 24

1:15:33hour it's day again

1:15:35meaning for me what goes up goes down

1:15:37and after it goes down it comes up again

1:15:40if I just expand this View

1:15:43on our lifetime which is just a larger

1:15:46cycle than what we maybe call life

1:15:49comes to an end then starts what we

1:15:52nobody knows more or less F the life

1:15:56yeah and maybe after life comes life

1:15:58again what sort of nutrition do you have

1:16:01because they talk about the gut brain

1:16:02connection where you get your intuition

1:16:05and your your gut feeling it's I believe

1:16:08it's all connected but what do you see

1:16:11clean nutrition veg to eat meat what

1:16:15should nutrition like

1:16:16so our nutrition is mainly plant-based

1:16:20but also because we are living in a

1:16:22community that are dependent sometimes

1:16:25also on donations that means we actually

1:16:28use everything sometimes from the

1:16:30supermarkets if they cannot sell it you

1:16:33still take it and use it for our

1:16:34community so we cook and use all of the

1:16:38stuff that has been given to us

1:16:40but mainly we try plant-based yes

1:16:44how many people are in your community

1:16:47so we are around 12 to 15 people who

1:16:51constantly live inside our community and

1:16:54on a regular basis we always have like

1:16:56guests coming to visit us yes I'm coming

1:17:01I'm coming brother well then prepare for

1:17:04the training prepare for the suffering I

1:17:06think how could I go could I go and for

1:17:10how long could I go yes

1:17:13so one way how what we normally organize

1:17:17throughout the whole year it's called a

1:17:20monastery on time

1:17:22and Monastery on time meaning you are

1:17:26arriving on a Monday and you stay inside

1:17:28our community until a Saturday and

1:17:31within those six days you also join all

1:17:34the training like I explained to you in

1:17:37the daily structure exactly this daily

1:17:40structure is what people then follow

1:17:42together with us along there one week's

1:17:45day

1:17:46and that also means you have no mobile

1:17:49phone connection you don't have Wi-Fi

1:17:52there normally

1:17:53plant-based food a lot of training you

1:17:56also have meditation and you have a few

1:17:59let's say topics

1:18:01about yeah

1:18:02let's say

1:18:04topics that are worth spending some time

1:18:08on from time to time

1:18:11could I do one month sir

1:18:15uh theoretically it's possible then this

1:18:18means that people are coming to our

1:18:20Monastery as so-called disciples but

1:18:23that means they at least stay for one

1:18:25year so for the average

1:18:28um Vista let's say it's normally two two

1:18:31weeks is the maximum amount right now

1:18:33that people are able to stay

1:18:36could would it be possibility to make a

1:18:38documentary there was a no filming

1:18:40inside

1:18:41well I think there are already plenty

1:18:44plenty of documentaries and also

1:18:48different insights out on on the social

1:18:52media on YouTube everywhere

1:18:55but

1:18:58you know

1:19:00I really think it's important that

1:19:02people start to realize that you have

1:19:04many places in the world

1:19:07that are able to open this door for you

1:19:10it's not just our place

1:19:12you know like I mentioned before here

1:19:14here in the in the UK in London

1:19:17um

1:19:18that's why I oftentimes also love to

1:19:21travel back here just to visit my master

1:19:25uncles

1:19:27the knowledge is here

1:19:29the knowledge is here you don't need to

1:19:31travel anywhere else you don't need to

1:19:33travel to China no need to travel to

1:19:36don't need to go far you have the

1:19:38knowledge here

1:19:40you just need to really either find

1:19:42someone who is pushing you to put it

1:19:45into practice

1:19:47or find somebody who can inspire you

1:19:50that you put it yourself into practice

1:19:52but

1:19:54see I believe I have the answers

1:19:57but

1:19:59I don't know I don't know if it's lack

1:20:01of self-respect myself is definitely a

1:20:03lack of love

1:20:05um

1:20:07because I talk a good game but in other

1:20:09times I talk pure

1:20:12see when you go through all this and

1:20:16when did it really sink in that this was

1:20:18your purpose this was you who you wanted

1:20:21to be in fully committed to it was it a

1:20:23certain age it was a certain time in

1:20:25your life or the Jehovah's believe it

1:20:27was like a calling

1:20:30thank you

1:20:38there was a time

1:20:40from H4 let's say growing up I don't

1:20:42know until when where I actually thought

1:20:46this is

1:20:48my decision I'm taking I want to live

1:20:51this way of life

1:20:53I am taking uh yeah let's say it's my

1:20:57making

1:20:58there was some time when I saw it like

1:21:00this

1:21:01meanwhile

1:21:02it has become let's say a mixture

1:21:05some circumstances they had to be like

1:21:09this in order for me to let's say walk

1:21:12this past right now

1:21:13but at the same time I also realized

1:21:17that

1:21:19sometimes there was no choice

1:21:21there was no choice for me than just

1:21:24ending up where I am right now

1:21:27which means I also of course feel for

1:21:31myself what are the strengths I have

1:21:33what is it that I can do and what is it

1:21:36also that

1:21:37I would like to let's say

1:21:40um

1:21:41do with this lifetime and the only thing

1:21:44that for me with everything I can do

1:21:46with the way how I grow up think makes

1:21:49sense it's just what I'm doing right now

1:21:52do you ever get down or depressed does

1:21:55anybody

1:21:56who work with you and do what you do

1:21:58have a few down or are you just saw

1:22:00conditioned and what so hard that

1:22:03understanding it and fixing it straight

1:22:06away

1:22:06it has become less I would say

1:22:09it has become less from time to time of

1:22:12course it's still existing but meanwhile

1:22:15it has never taken such an intensity

1:22:19that would bring me off by too long

1:22:23because meanwhile I I think I have a

1:22:26good sense how my energies are let's say

1:22:29established Within Myself

1:22:31if I feel like the exhaustion is going

1:22:33to come I take proper uh proper action

1:22:36already

1:22:37and what that also means like very

1:22:40practically sometimes I need to say no

1:22:42also I used to be a person yeah if like

1:22:46if 360 days from one year are already

1:22:49planned

1:22:50the rest of the five days

1:22:52I still want to make fool yeah so I

1:22:55couldn't say no let's say because I saw

1:22:57everything as the opportunity as a

1:23:00chance but this is also another way

1:23:02because you always pay with something

1:23:05how does it work with your social media

1:23:08and you're doing big talks and releasing

1:23:10a book how does that work as well

1:23:12because obviously a lot of people think

1:23:14but there's women they're just stay in

1:23:16huts and they meditating do martial arts

1:23:18but you're out here and is that to

1:23:20promote the message and and find some

1:23:22balance how does all that work does

1:23:23anybody ever has it frowned upon us is

1:23:26accepted how does it work

1:23:29well James I think you are really lucky

1:23:32because uh for sure you are going to be

1:23:36one of the last ones this year where I'm

1:23:38still going to have like some talk

1:23:41because I actually decided like half a

1:23:43year

1:23:44before already that I wanted to calm

1:23:48actually down a little bit when it comes

1:23:50to the social media the exposure

1:23:53because

1:23:55I have some collaborations before that

1:23:59we did some interviews also did some

1:24:01podcasts that were let's say

1:24:04um

1:24:05that were planned what was in a way not

1:24:08planned was the fact that people started

1:24:11then to let's say cut out a section from

1:24:14from your podcast and

1:24:17put their own music under it you know

1:24:19and then upload it through their channel

1:24:21so this led to the fact that now somehow

1:24:24it feels like I'm everywhere yes

1:24:29and

1:24:32it's not exactly what I was looking for

1:24:35it's good to get the message out

1:24:38but it also sometimes can raise the the

1:24:42wrong conclusions

1:24:43that's why I said okay I'm actually

1:24:46thinking to calm down a little bit just

1:24:49make the

1:24:51just make the podcasts and interviews I

1:24:53really want to do

1:24:55I really feel like okay it's worth

1:24:57spending the time there

1:24:59and yes yeah because I love the

1:25:02teachings of Buddhism I've always

1:25:04gravitated towards it I've also also

1:25:06like the Native Americans as well so I

1:25:08don't know if that's a contradiction but

1:25:10I just like the nature belief I like the

1:25:12working within the meditation and

1:25:14connected to the Earth and animals I

1:25:17love animals but

1:25:18how because you're doing these this

1:25:21conversation mean you're having right

1:25:23now will change lives for the better

1:25:26so there's got to be some element of

1:25:29I don't know I believe you've got to

1:25:31have a purpose in life I believe

1:25:32everybody's got a purpose but it can be

1:25:34darkened down with all the but

1:25:37do you do you ever feel that what you're

1:25:40doing is amazing or do you question your

1:25:43life choices

1:25:45no until now I never really questioned

1:25:50anything that I've done in the past

1:25:51meaning there is

1:25:54a few until nothing I would really say I

1:25:57regret

1:25:58this is something that for me let's say

1:26:00personally I this is important to me

1:26:03that's why I also explained before about

1:26:07uh being clear in the mind when you take

1:26:10decisions because I would never like to

1:26:12be a person one day being a little bit

1:26:15older in age looking back and then

1:26:17starting to regret something

1:26:19so that's why better

1:26:21in these moments I take clear decisions

1:26:24even if sometimes it takes a little bit

1:26:26longer but better I take a clear

1:26:29decision and then I can stand completely

1:26:31behind it even if it goes wrong but then

1:26:34it only means I still took my time to

1:26:37think about it it went wrong okay what

1:26:39show what else should I have done

1:26:41in the time it happened it was like this

1:26:44so that means no regrets is something

1:26:47what I think is really important

1:26:50and

1:26:52it's it's also not really that I think

1:26:55it's amazing or or what I'm

1:26:59sharing out

1:27:02it really just started like I said I'm

1:27:06coming from the area of martial arts I'm

1:27:08just practicing martial arts

1:27:10I make my Kung Fu forms I make the

1:27:13fighting techniques I learn how to use

1:27:15the body this is where I normally come

1:27:17from

1:27:18it's just then one day some people ask

1:27:20me yeah but somehow the way how your

1:27:22punching looks different than the way

1:27:24how other people punching or the way how

1:27:26you move looks different how do you move

1:27:29so and then I just try to explain what I

1:27:32feel when I move

1:27:34and there I realized that people start

1:27:37to understand

1:27:39or

1:27:40can put something better into practice

1:27:43when I can sometimes support it with

1:27:46some ideas that I can shape with my

1:27:48words to help them

1:27:50yeah so in the sense of look everything

1:27:53is connected so if you feel like your

1:27:55body your arm your forearm your shoulder

1:27:58your chest if all is connected like one

1:28:00muscle that means try to use the body

1:28:03like one muscle and stop using the body

1:28:06only like with separated muscle groups

1:28:08like just stretching or

1:28:11your your triceps

1:28:14use the body everything as one unit

1:28:17so and then already starts the way how

1:28:20you move everything moves if one thing

1:28:23moves everything moves third floor

1:28:27people call it differently yes yeah

1:28:29and this is where I realized okay people

1:28:32sometimes need the talking to get to the

1:28:35practice the proper practice

1:28:37and that's the only reason why I started

1:28:40answering so many different questions in

1:28:42the past

1:28:44because I want no problem I can talk to

1:28:47the people I can share out what I know

1:28:49but not for the sake of like still

1:28:52sitting at home and just listening the

1:28:55whole day long

1:28:57I would like that still the practice is

1:29:01in the foreground

1:29:02because the practice is what gives you

1:29:05experience

1:29:07and this experience is what then

1:29:10afterwards we call is able to transform

1:29:12into wisdom how important is failure and

1:29:17life

1:29:18because a lot of people fail and they

1:29:21never go back to trying

1:29:23progress or make changes a lot of people

1:29:26now it's one or two failures and I've

1:29:28done but how important is it for

1:29:31having an enlightened life and learning

1:29:33from it

1:29:35also here I think are two two directions

1:29:38you can have the first failure stay

1:29:41stubborn and then you have the second

1:29:43failure you still stay stubborn you have

1:29:46the third one you can stay stubborn and

1:29:48you will have the 20th failure so this

1:29:51type of keep going don't give up no this

1:29:55is not the proper way

1:29:57you fail

1:29:59You observe why did you fail

1:30:03you try again adjusting the reasons why

1:30:06you failed in the first one

1:30:09if you fail again well of course you can

1:30:12try again but of course with readjusting

1:30:14you never fail the second time because

1:30:18of the same reason like the first time

1:30:19that wouldn't make sense

1:30:21so if you fail then you find the reason

1:30:24why

1:30:25with the second attempt you have

1:30:27readjusted this in this way I think

1:30:30there's only one way that's going to

1:30:32lead to You're Gonna grow

1:30:35yes that's the one thing so there's

1:30:38another one uh well but that still means

1:30:41sometimes you try hard you try hard to

1:30:44try hard you keep on failing even with

1:30:47all the adjustments

1:30:48then there's the second alternative what

1:30:51it could mean

1:30:53it could mean that maybe it is your wish

1:30:57that you want to do this

1:30:59that you want to succeed in it

1:31:02but maybe it's not the wish of the

1:31:04universe let's call like this what about

1:31:07relationships and kids

1:31:09for the the teachings of yours allowed

1:31:13relationships to have a family or is it

1:31:15just

1:31:16focus on yourself

1:31:19um in Buddhism itself it's not a problem

1:31:22at all to have a relationship to also

1:31:24have a family and to have children

1:31:26but if you live as a priest inside a

1:31:30monastery at least for the time being in

1:31:33the monastery normally you do not have a

1:31:36family

1:31:37and also not a partner why

1:31:40because let's say like this being inside

1:31:43monastic walls

1:31:46it's like you are a little bit let's say

1:31:49cut off actually from all external

1:31:52impulses

1:31:54so nothing from the outside let's say is

1:31:57affecting you too much

1:31:59because we want the people that are

1:32:02inside there to be able all the time the

1:32:0524 hours every day invested in yourself

1:32:10find out

1:32:12for the time that you stay in the

1:32:13monastery if you stay one year then one

1:32:15year if you stay two years then two

1:32:18years three then three but spend it to

1:32:21find out who and what you are

1:32:25when after one year you say yes I know

1:32:28who I am I know what I can do I have

1:32:31realized something if then you decide

1:32:33you want to go out no problem

1:32:37but this is the whole point before we go

1:32:40out in the world and share something

1:32:43with the world if I want to go out and

1:32:46share peace with the world

1:32:51how can you share something that you

1:32:53don't have

1:32:56how can you

1:32:58teach share something

1:33:01to stay calm if you me

1:33:05I I can't stay calm

1:33:07I cannot stay calm but I go out teach

1:33:10people how to stay calm how is that

1:33:12supposed to work

1:33:15if you are not in Balance how you want

1:33:18to tell the people to be in balance

1:33:21if you don't know who you are how you

1:33:23want to tell other people who they are

1:33:26the point is

1:33:28you can only give you can only share

1:33:33what you have

1:33:35and this is the time in these

1:33:39closed

1:33:41holy

1:33:45space that you are cultivating

1:33:49for yourself so it's like the investment

1:33:51for yourself for two years three years

1:33:54you want to invest in yourself to get

1:33:56insights about yourself and then you're

1:33:59free to go out in the world and share

1:34:01your insights how important is rest

1:34:04but how many hours of sleeping because

1:34:07you see motivational speakers are

1:34:09telling people to work three days

1:34:11without eating and to be successful but

1:34:13for me it's all because rest

1:34:15and my own opinion is just as important

1:34:17how important is rest for your opinion

1:34:20and how much rest do you actually get

1:34:22sleep wise

1:34:25it very much depends on my schedule on

1:34:30my schedule because for example that's

1:34:32why actually to be honest that's why I

1:34:34wrote you if we can like meet a little

1:34:36bit earlier because I'm awake right now

1:34:38since three o'clock in the morning

1:34:40coming from Germany and then just

1:34:42staying await awake to directly come

1:34:45here so this sometimes of course brings

1:34:47me out of balance but therefore I know

1:34:50once I'm back in the in the monastery so

1:34:52I take care again that I go into my

1:34:56structure so yes can you sleep anytime

1:35:02um it's not so easy because of course

1:35:04our our body adjusts itself so therefore

1:35:09it's also quite interesting

1:35:12our body can learn something and also

1:35:15can unlearn things by making it become a

1:35:19habit

1:35:20so if I want to start conditioning my

1:35:23body to wake up earlier I make it step

1:35:26by step

1:35:27always at the same time I go to bed so

1:35:30that my body starts to remember

1:35:32and sometimes I just even know that

1:35:35even if you don't put up the alarm

1:35:38sometimes automatically right time

1:35:40you're awake

1:35:42and this is how the usage of habit

1:35:46um

1:35:47or the usage of conditioning can can be

1:35:51made useful yes for our daily life

1:35:53what's the main teachings for Buddhism

1:35:55for people who don't know and people

1:35:57who's maybe going you know what I

1:35:59actually love those beliefs of

1:36:02structure and consistency and trying to

1:36:05calm the Mind what's the main teachings

1:36:07for Buddhism

1:36:11there is so much information about

1:36:13Buddhism out there that if somebody's

1:36:16interested I would really say to just

1:36:18look for what are the Buddhist teachings

1:36:21the way how I normally like to share it

1:36:24is first of all you don't need to change

1:36:27anything about what you're believing

1:36:29right now if you are right now Christian

1:36:31already is no problem at all you can

1:36:34stay Christian and still

1:36:37start learning about okay what are they

1:36:40saying in Buddhism and some of the main

1:36:43teachings are for example the so-called

1:36:46the Four Noble Truths

1:36:49this is when you start okay what is

1:36:51Buddhism it starts with the Four Noble

1:36:54Truths and

1:36:56just quickly to mention them the first

1:36:59one is

1:37:00the life the existence that we are

1:37:02living

1:37:04is connected with suffering

1:37:08so now you can this is the this is the

1:37:12one of the the core sentences and now

1:37:15you have time to think about

1:37:17the existence the life that we are

1:37:19living

1:37:21in is consisting of suffering

1:37:24if you say no it's not true well then

1:37:27you don't need to follow Buddhism then

1:37:29over here already the journey ends

1:37:33life is consisting of suffering

1:37:37if you say Okay sometimes I have happy

1:37:41moments sometimes I have sad moments but

1:37:44for sure I have already lost some

1:37:46animals I already lost some family

1:37:48members there was some suffering my

1:37:51girlfriend left me yes I suffered yes

1:37:54okay I can agree suffering exists in

1:37:58this world okay then you can already

1:38:00Mark the Noble Truth number Oneness okay

1:38:04seems to be true

1:38:06second truth is this suffering

1:38:09has a reason

1:38:12the reason comes from greed

1:38:16hate

1:38:17or ignorance

1:38:20so the reason why we suffer is either

1:38:23because of greed we want more than we

1:38:26need

1:38:27of hate we get something we don't want

1:38:31to have

1:38:32or ignorance or sometimes called not

1:38:35knowing

1:38:36because we don't know the outcome of our

1:38:40actions out of these three things all

1:38:42the suffering in the world is coming

1:38:45from now to simplify

1:38:48let's say I lost

1:38:51I lost a person that I love let's say

1:38:54then you suffer okay why do you suffer

1:38:58because you had the connection to what

1:39:01you left

1:39:03but to what you love meaning you want

1:39:06you want to try to keep something inside

1:39:09of your life

1:39:11that it stays as it is but this is not

1:39:14the nature of things anymore

1:39:16in this complete Universe things don't

1:39:19stay as they are

1:39:21so in the moment you want something

1:39:23which is not possible to hold on to

1:39:27the suffering is already like integral

1:39:30part of it now this is like one

1:39:32explanation why we say

1:39:36it's not a problem to have a

1:39:37relationship it's not a problem to have

1:39:40a partner it's not a problem to have a

1:39:42nice car the problem is you get attached

1:39:44to it

1:39:46the attachment is the problem

1:39:49or is the issue that is going to bring

1:39:53you the suffering afterwards

1:39:55so one is greed other one is hate

1:39:59that you don't like you don't like the

1:40:02financial department but they keep on

1:40:04coming

1:40:06that also sometimes cause suffering

1:40:08yes but things you cannot change so it

1:40:12means in the moment every time you have

1:40:14any type of aversion any time of hate

1:40:18against something and it still comes

1:40:21this is also like one reason for the

1:40:24suffering

1:40:25yeah and the third one is like the

1:40:27ignorance

1:40:29ignorance meaning sometimes we do

1:40:32actions

1:40:34we don't know what the future will bring

1:40:37but still we do them and then somehow

1:40:40because of the karma because of the

1:40:43consequence it's still going to come

1:40:44back to us causing us some suffering

1:40:49the third Noble Truth is

1:40:53when the reasons for the suffering and

1:40:57greed hate ignorance when this Falls

1:41:00away no more greed no more hate no more

1:41:04ignorance if this Falls away

1:41:07the suffering Falls away

1:41:10so that means there is an end there is a

1:41:13way how to end the suffering this is the

1:41:17number three

1:41:19and the fourth one is

1:41:21the so-called Noble Eightfold pass it's

1:41:25eight steps

1:41:26eight areas of each human's life

1:41:31to pay attention on

1:41:34and always try to improve these eight

1:41:37areas

1:41:38this is then a step-by-step instruction

1:41:41how this personal suffering starts to

1:41:45decrease and decrease

1:41:47and this is called like the noble

1:41:49Eightfold pass

1:41:52this I would say are the main teachings

1:41:54in all Buddhist traditions and if people

1:41:57are interested in that they will find

1:41:59plenty of it so you really just need to

1:42:01go on YouTube or on Google

1:42:04for Noble Truths or Noble Eightfold pass

1:42:08and you find thousands and thousands of

1:42:11information about it how do you handle

1:42:14deaf and grief a lot of people

1:42:17I don't think handle it well they can

1:42:19really slip in a big depression for the

1:42:22rest of their life by losing a loved one

1:42:23how do you handle grief

1:42:26and loss of loved ones

1:42:29a very practical way I would say is

1:42:33to manifest a small altar

1:42:37a small um

1:42:41normally if you go into I don't know if

1:42:44you go to the

1:42:46Cemetery normally you also have like

1:42:49sometimes the stone or with a picture of

1:42:52the beloved one but just something like

1:42:55this it's not at the cemetery we have it

1:42:57in our tradition we have it like in yeah

1:43:00on this wall for example it's just a

1:43:02picture of your father a picture of your

1:43:04mother and in front of it like either a

1:43:07candle

1:43:09some flowers next to it and just for

1:43:12example every every year on the day

1:43:14either on the birthday or on the day

1:43:17when

1:43:18they were still like here on the Earth

1:43:21we just like

1:43:25think about them

1:43:27you invest your lifetime to stand in

1:43:29front of that picture of the beloved one

1:43:32and still try to spend your lifetime on

1:43:36the sword of that person this is the

1:43:39this is the realest thing

1:43:43you can still do

1:43:46to connect even with a person that is

1:43:49not physically here on this world with

1:43:51us anymore that's we have that's why we

1:43:53have this type of altars I cannot stop

1:43:56my beloved one sooner or later from from

1:44:00from passing yeah but I can keep them I

1:44:04can still keep them

1:44:06um as a ritual in my daily life when I

1:44:09go on so this is the way while how also

1:44:12for us we can limit a little bit the

1:44:15grief

1:44:16then of course also merge together

1:44:20with the philosophical or yeah with the

1:44:24teachings let's say like this where do

1:44:27you get

1:44:28from going forward with your life and do

1:44:31you plan ahead for the rest of your life

1:44:33for years or days or months how far do

1:44:36you plan ahead because everybody's got

1:44:38Visions we get so many thoughts a day

1:44:40sixty thousand seventy thousand whatever

1:44:41it is but how do you plan ahead with

1:44:44your life

1:44:45do you or do you just live in the

1:44:48present moment and now day by day

1:44:55meanwhile for example of course there is

1:44:59a community which are also started

1:45:01growing

1:45:02so that means

1:45:05um

1:45:07there is something to be taken care of

1:45:09so that means meanwhile it's really not

1:45:12just about what you want or not just

1:45:15about what I want meanwhile it's also

1:45:17about people

1:45:19um

1:45:20that in a way you are also partly

1:45:22responsible for so no matter what

1:45:25decision

1:45:26we are taken

1:45:28I always take into consideration what is

1:45:32also connected with my personal

1:45:34decisions

1:45:35so this is what I of course still keep

1:45:38in mind but besides that

1:45:42um

1:45:45meanwhile I think I don't plan longer

1:45:48than one year it's just unrealistic for

1:45:50me

1:45:51as I realized in the way of life how the

1:45:55last years

1:45:56started developing

1:45:59to even see half a year in front of me

1:46:01in past it's I would have been always

1:46:03wrong let's say like this that's why

1:46:06meanwhile this is not like it's not that

1:46:09I plan something and then I try to make

1:46:11it possible I would rather say right now

1:46:14like this that I'm rather pretty open

1:46:17and aware walking through my day

1:46:21then maybe a message comes in

1:46:23I read the message

1:46:25and I look inside my head

1:46:27do I see that this message this inquiry

1:46:31for example does it have a place in my

1:46:33future can I see the picture of it

1:46:34happening

1:46:36if I say okay why not

1:46:39then it would be possibly something I

1:46:41start to manifest

1:46:42and so I do it

1:46:44yeah if other things I see okay no I

1:46:47don't see this right now then I just

1:46:48don't do it uh this is more or less

1:46:51right now yeah well not long left mate

1:46:54because I know you need some sleep but

1:46:57when when was the last time you cried

1:47:02oh do you cry

1:47:12it happens from time to time it has

1:47:14become rare but this is true it has

1:47:17become rare

1:47:20and maybe it's uh it's it's maybe hard

1:47:23to say but I think one of the

1:47:26biggest losses so far in my life

1:47:29actually was the loss of my father so

1:47:33let's hear that yes

1:47:35now that there came one I just call it

1:47:38it's not a problem yeah but

1:47:40in in our tradition it's like this when

1:47:44my father he died because of cancer when

1:47:47he was lying there in the bed of course

1:47:49he saw that the family was sad but my

1:47:53father told me yeah while he was lying

1:47:55there if I pass away don't cry he told

1:47:58me

1:48:00don't cry so the reason why is like this

1:48:04the way how we grow up what we learn is

1:48:07and what let's say we believe in

1:48:10even when the body falls away

1:48:13this is not the end

1:48:15let's say people call it the spirit

1:48:18Still Remains the ghost is still here

1:48:20the soul is still here I don't know what

1:48:22it is but we have also something similar

1:48:26and the problem is when my father

1:48:28passes away

1:48:30and then the family members are standing

1:48:33around the bed crying

1:48:36then the ghost or the soul has difficult

1:48:39times to leave the body

1:48:42because he realizes something is wrong

1:48:46yeah so when the soul sees the family is

1:48:49crying it's difficult for the soul to

1:48:51move on

1:48:52it's difficult for the soul of my father

1:48:54to move on and find the next let's say

1:48:58transformation reincarnation however you

1:49:01call it

1:49:02because I grow up like this because it

1:49:05is the way how I think about

1:49:07energy just transforms energy needs to

1:49:10move on

1:49:12that's why even when my father passed

1:49:14away I did what my father said

1:49:16until today I have not cried about it

1:49:20and yeah so this is yeah my dad died

1:49:26I went nuts if I'm honest I went

1:49:29to drinking drugs and I went crazy I

1:49:32feel my father it breaks my heart

1:49:35because my dad seen me at my worst

1:49:37before he died he seen me as a up

1:49:40piecing me

1:49:41as someone who was so lost and that

1:49:43breaks my heart because everything I do

1:49:45I don't know for that but that emptiness

1:49:47comes because I know he's seen potential

1:49:50I always had potentials was good that

1:49:53when I put my mind to something but I

1:49:55never had the consistency or the then I

1:49:58believe to believe but when he passed he

1:50:01never seen me at my greatest and now

1:50:04that I'm doing my amazing things I know

1:50:06he would be proud but that sadness kicks

1:50:10in because I think I wish he was here to

1:50:12see me fulfill the potential that he

1:50:14knew that I had

1:50:16and it and that's why I asked the

1:50:18question about grief and pain because

1:50:22if you're not living I'm not saying

1:50:24everybody should live the life of a

1:50:27Buddhist but the beliefs and the

1:50:29meditation and

1:50:31the everything seems to be free-flowing

1:50:33I see the struggle of human beings

1:50:36including myself and

1:50:38I just wish I wish that all the pain

1:50:40could go away in the universe but I

1:50:42don't know if we'll ever see it in our

1:50:44lifetime is it just a case of you trying

1:50:46to lead by example and showing people

1:50:49your teachings and beliefs and hopefully

1:50:51will that make sense to me I could do

1:50:53that do you see the suffering all around

1:50:55especially coming to London because I

1:50:57feel it there's a there's a it's not a

1:51:00sucky feeling but there's a feeling of

1:51:01disease there's a feeling of

1:51:03best Comfort sometimes and do you feel

1:51:06that in certain cities you go to

1:51:09yes

1:51:13look

1:51:16to share to share this type on the one

1:51:19side teachings to share this knowledge

1:51:22to speak about the different cultures

1:51:25yeah where I come from or where other

1:51:27other teachers Masters come from this is

1:51:31not about try to change anybody else's

1:51:34culture or what they believe in

1:51:38it's just about

1:51:40offering

1:51:42the free alternative why is it free

1:51:45because it's just based on the mind

1:51:47because it's based on what you how you

1:51:51look in the world how you what your

1:51:53perspective on the world is this is what

1:51:56all these Traditions are offering to you

1:51:59which means you can keep everything that

1:52:01you have until right now

1:52:03learned already

1:52:06you just add up maybe look into a

1:52:09different perspective how else can I

1:52:12look into this world

1:52:14how do other humans in this world

1:52:17realize it

1:52:20and maybe this will help you also to

1:52:23find some ways how some parts of the

1:52:27suffering of the hardships that we have

1:52:29in our daily life how you can still

1:52:31tackle it for yourself this is the main

1:52:34point uh how I think these teachings

1:52:38should be used it's never about

1:52:39replacing anybody others culture

1:52:43it is just there are some methods there

1:52:46are some insights when you ask yourself

1:52:49also you will come to the same

1:52:51conclusion doesn't matter if you call it

1:52:53Buddhism or not

1:52:55that's why I say Buddhism has nothing to

1:52:58do if you believe or not

1:53:01just observe yourself go deep inside

1:53:04yourself and ask yourself this question

1:53:06look out

1:53:09and then you see for yourself when was

1:53:12the last time you witnessed a 24-hour

1:53:15sunshine

1:53:19it's not happening

1:53:21at least not in the UK yeah yes when is

1:53:25your book oh I know you have a new book

1:53:27out

1:53:27um as it says it's took years and

1:53:29they're making is that correct

1:53:31well not really 10 years

1:53:35um

1:53:38but

1:53:39in a way I'm it's it has been a burden

1:53:42also to be honest for myself to to

1:53:44finally uh

1:53:46put this book into place because

1:53:50um this year like I said it's 36 years

1:53:53along this way

1:53:5536 3 and 6 yeah meaning nine three plus

1:53:59six nine also like sometimes holy

1:54:02numbers in the way in where I come from

1:54:04so it's a very very special year this

1:54:07year for me

1:54:08and yeah so I was happy I put in some

1:54:11work in the last two years

1:54:14to put everything what we talked about

1:54:18today together with the Practical

1:54:22exercises

1:54:24from the Traditions all of this I try to

1:54:27really compress it and summarize it in

1:54:30this one book

1:54:31I already had Publishers asking me yeah

1:54:34please make a second third one I don't

1:54:36want to make a second or third book it's

1:54:38this one

1:54:40everything I have to say from the last

1:54:4236 years it's in there

1:54:44but unfortunately first of all it's

1:54:47going to come in German language only

1:54:48but

1:54:50we are working on it and sooner or later

1:54:53it's just a question of time there will

1:54:55be English

1:54:57version as well so yes good morning

1:55:02brother congratulations

1:55:04just last question for anybody that's in

1:55:07a struggle right now everybody get

1:55:09different levels of struggle but for

1:55:11anybody who's in a struggle what advice

1:55:13would you have for them

1:55:27I would say

1:55:32now it's it's difficult for me to

1:55:35generalize and to be honest

1:55:38but

1:55:52just don't give up

1:55:54just don't give up even if right now it

1:55:57doesn't make sense

1:55:59one day I'm very very sure when you

1:56:03start to see the connections and Things

1:56:04fall into place you will maybe also

1:56:07realize that it couldn't have been

1:56:09different

1:56:10even if it's difficult but the only

1:56:14thing that I learned from the martial

1:56:15art practices and also from my own life

1:56:19is

1:56:20giving up what's just simply not the

1:56:22question

1:56:23or simply never an option

1:56:26and for many people I heard these

1:56:29sentences

1:56:30the winners

1:56:32continue where the losers stop people

1:56:36know this type of sentences

1:56:38yes in a way

1:56:40it depends what means for you winner

1:56:43in the way how I look at the world it's

1:56:46about constantly developing yourself not

1:56:50standing still making a mistake is not a

1:56:53problem

1:56:54making the same mistake without learning

1:56:57from the first one that's a problem

1:57:00but failing the first time and then

1:57:03learning from it not a problem because

1:57:06now you're a little bit more wise

1:57:10and using now this wisdom to integrate

1:57:14into your next decision this is the past

1:57:16of growing this is the path of learning

1:57:19nobody ever told you when you are going

1:57:22to come onto this world that this life

1:57:25first of all is going to be an easy one

1:57:27nobody said that

1:57:28so why why should I be looking for an

1:57:31easy life to come

1:57:33this is also like out of out of the mind

1:57:36already

1:57:38it's one of the things you realize

1:57:40whether you go to train the Shaolin

1:57:43teachings here in London or wherever you

1:57:46go the training is not easy

1:57:49you want to reach something you want to

1:57:51develop something you want to go beyond

1:57:54your limits yes it's painful

1:57:57it needs something about you that you

1:58:00stand above yourself

1:58:04so what can also help is if you are

1:58:07caught inside of yourself sometimes try

1:58:11do some magic jump out of the body and

1:58:14watch yourself who is sitting there

1:58:17and now if you imagine you are the one

1:58:20able to give the power to this person

1:58:22who's sitting there what does he need

1:58:26this you give him

1:58:29and then just keep going

1:58:31would you like to finish up on anything

1:58:32brother

1:58:34no I'm really happy about this

1:58:36conversation and hope that there are a

1:58:38few pieces that maybe

1:58:40your audience finds interesting but

1:58:44besides that I think

1:58:48there's plenty of information out so

1:58:51enough to catch up on yes my brother

1:58:54Larson thanks for your time for giving

1:58:55me the opportunity to ask you a few

1:58:57questions don't know with all the wisdom

1:58:59and knowledge that you have and just to

1:59:00try and simplify some things for people

1:59:03to understand I know a lot of people

1:59:04struggle and a lot of people want

1:59:07answers and just something to get out of

1:59:09the rut that they're in so hopefully

1:59:11people can take something from this and

1:59:13they can have a more Blissful and

1:59:14happier life where they can learn from

1:59:16and grow from all we can do is try but I

1:59:19wish you nothing but the best in life

1:59:21and no doubt we'll stay friends and good

1:59:23luck with the book and hopefully see you

1:59:25again soon

1:59:26thank you God bless you my brother

1:59:28thank you
