0:00Many of you have asked me on how to

0:02install Rhino AI MCP. So, that's why

0:05this is the ultimate step-by-step guide

0:08on how to install it. So, there

0:10shouldn't be any question left

0:12afterwards.

0:14Rhino AI MCP is basically just a link

0:18between Rhino and an AI assistant using

0:22something called MCP, which is short for

0:25model context protocol. It allows AI to

0:29inspect your model, send commands to

0:31Rhino, and for example, modify geometry.

0:34And you can give it instructions, so you

0:36can use it as a modeling assistant, for

0:39example. It can do that. It can also

0:42help you with cleaning up your model,

0:44preparing your file, and so on.

0:48Just a quick disclaimer. This guide is

0:51for a genuine Rhino license. I cannot

0:54guarantee that this will work on a

0:57computer with a non-genuine license.

0:59Well, let's jump right in.

1:02Head over to food for Rhino and type in

1:06AI MCP. And you should see this logo,

1:10MCP, Rhino AI MCP, a lightweight plugin

1:14for Rhino 3D that seamlessly connects

1:17your Rhino environment to local AI

1:19assistant like Claude, Git GitHub

1:22Copilot, or Llama, et cetera. Okay,

1:24let's click on it. And now, what's very

1:27important to check. This is a beta

1:30version of Rhino AI MCP. It creates a

1:33local MCP model context protocol server

1:36with two main tools, get scene, which

1:39returns the geometry attributes of the

1:41current Rhino scene, and Rhino's

1:43operator, which ex- executes task by

1:47requesting and running C# scripts inside

1:50Rhino. Just very quickly, most people

1:53skip this part, and then they wonder why

1:55it doesn't work. So, go here on more and

1:58open this up. Install Rhino plugin

2:00directly from the package manager.

2:02Search for Rhino AIMCP. Installation

2:05only available for Windows users. Then

2:07restart Rhino. So, you just go here,

2:10install it for the version you need it,

2:12install, open Rhino, and install. Okay?

2:16Because I already installed it, I get a

2:19I get here an error message, but don't

2:21worry about this. It just It should work

2:23if you have the right Rhino 8 commercial

2:26version, then it should work. Okay? And

2:28now I just restart Rhino. If I now go

2:32here and say Rhino AIMCP, you should see

2:36it here automatically. It says MCP

2:39server started. Now, I want to close

2:42this first because that's not We're not

2:45ready yet.

2:48Now, this is another thing people don't

2:51do. They forget about this. They're not

2:53actually installing this very important

2:55tool. Without this tool, it doesn't

2:57work. Download and install Node.js.

3:01Just get here the link, place the link

3:04in here,

3:05and download the installer, and you can

3:10open this directly. And it just Wait for

3:12this and install.

3:14I already installed it, so I don't

3:16reinstall it again. But I can also

3:18reinstall it. It doesn't really matter.

3:20Accept. Okay.

3:22Just leave everything as it is. You just

3:25follow the installation and install.

3:27Okay?

3:28Now, this is done. Install Cloud

3:31Desktop. You also need to install Cloud

3:33Desktop. It needs to be your desktop

3:36version. And you can see if you have

3:38Cloud installed if you have this small

3:40little Cloud icon here. If you type in

3:44Cloud,

3:45then you should have it here. Okay?

3:49Now, Philip returns. So, I was here

3:52already before. By the way, I'm using a

3:54free plan at the moment. Free plan has

3:56just the limitations. It doesn't have

3:58the latest best model. It also It also

4:02has the problem that it has only a

4:05limited amount of prompts prompts you

4:08can run per day.

4:09But, what do we need to do here? Maybe

4:12let's Maybe let's do it like this, okay?

4:14Open Claude's developer setting. Okay,

4:17you go here.

4:18In Claude desktop, go to file, settings,

4:22developer, and you can see currently I

4:24have it's I have it pointing to blender

4:27MCP, another MCP server.

4:31And what I want to do here is I want to

4:33edit the config file. And this is the

4:36config desktop file here.

4:40And I have an I have a backup here of

4:42the original one. And so, what I want to

4:45do here is I want to I will make a

4:48backup. Copy Copy, and I'll put this in

4:52here. I will place

5:05Blender I'll make here a Blender folder

5:08just so I have it

5:10at hand. So, I will get this Claude and

5:13place it in here. Okay, and now I can

5:16open this up.

5:18And I will

5:19take this and copy this here.

5:22Save. So, if I would I open this now in

5:26Notepad,

5:27you should see exactly the same as this

5:30as this text written here, okay? I can

5:32close this now.

5:34That should work. Can also close this

5:36here. Actually, I need to close it.

5:40Right? So, I need to actually close

5:42this. Quit app. It's very important.

5:45This is step seven. Close Close Claude

5:49completely. Make sure Claude is fully

5:51shut down. Include the tray icon in your

5:53system bar on Windows or Mac. Not sure

5:55why they write Mac because actually it

5:56doesn't work on Mac, but let's have a

5:59look quickly in the task manager if

6:01Claude is still running somewhere. No,

6:04it's not.

6:06Okay, now run the plugin inside Rhino.

6:11So, let's start Rhino. Rhino AIMCP This

6:15MCP server started. You can now connect

6:18Claude desk desktop copilot or or

6:22Ollama, okay?

6:25Let's make this like this.

6:28And we can we can start Claude.

6:35And now it should work.

6:36Create

6:38a cube inside

6:41Rhino.

6:42Now, it should work. It's If you see

6:45this getting seen and it ask you always

6:48allow or you can deny, you can also

6:50allow once. That will just give it the

6:54option to just continue with the task.

6:56I'll just put here enter. Always allow.

6:59Now it goes to the right Rhino operator.

7:02It check the scene. It can see there's

7:04nothing in there.

7:05Always allow. Should I Okay, try this

7:08again. And here we are. Cube done.

7:11And you know, it's a perfect cube.

7:15And it even tells you what it did.

7:18Now, this is super easy

7:20task, of course.

7:22But now you can play around and ask it

7:25whatever you want.

7:26By the way, it's not just cool for

7:29modeling things or modifying stuff. It

7:31can also analyze your model. It can find

7:35broken

7:36surfaces. Uh it can adjust your

7:40environment.

7:41It can actually teach you things. Can

7:45go through step by step with you on a on

7:48a process.

7:49So, it can do a lot of things.

7:53And because we already here, a quick

7:55shout out to

7:57Erem Erem and Violin. I hope that's

8:00correct. Thank you so much for joining

8:03my channel and support my channel.
