0:00hi everyone and welcome back uh I hope
0:03that you find today's lecture to be an
0:05interesting one because we will be
0:06discussing all things involving the
0:09emergency situation and where is ccma's
0:11focus and scope of practice will fit in
0:14uh so of course here we have in bold if
0:17we're working in an emergency situation
0:18going to be extremely important that
0:21we're always prepared always alert ready
0:24to go ready to respond to any type of
0:26threat or any type of emergency that
0:29involves our clinical setting now over
0:31here you can see that there are some
0:33things listed now this wouldn't be
0:34everything of course but there are some
0:36emergencies that do require first aid or
0:39are considered a life-saving measure uh
0:42we've got choking there allergic
0:44reactions cardiac failure respiratory
0:48failure and when we're looking on more
0:50of the lines of environmental
0:51emergencies some could be weather
0:53related a tornadoes fires hurricanes and
0:57if you're here in my area in California
0:59we all also have the concern of
1:01earthquakes and let's not leave out our
1:04last one there which could be human
1:05related which would be uh threats now we
1:09need to understand the difference
1:10between what a medical emergency is a
1:13versus First State Medical Emergency can
1:16be any situation in which a person
1:19suddenly becomes ill or sustains an
1:22injury they're going to require
1:24immediate help or immediate attention by
1:27Healthcare professional whereas first
1:30aid uh Immediate Care given to someone
1:33who was injured or suddenly becomes ill
1:35and we're going to hopefully do our best
1:38to be able to stabilize that patient
1:41until further help arrives and so that
1:44leads me to our goal our goal is to
1:46provide care to stabilize a patient and
1:49prevent further injury
