0:22disturbing and targeted attack on a

0:24human rights activist is under

0:25investigation this week after a man was

0:28seriously injured when acid was thrown

0:30at him in broad daylight. An incident

0:32that officials and advocacy groups say

0:34may be linked to his criticism of the

0:36military's growing role in government.

0:39The victim has been identified as Andre

0:41Yunus,

0:42deputy coordinator with the Commission

0:44of Missing Persons and Victims of

0:45Violence, also known as KontraS.

0:48According to reports, the attack took

0:49place on March 12th while Andre was

0:51riding his motorbike through the city of

0:53Yogyakarta. Investigators say that at

0:55some point during his ride, he was

0:57approached by two men on a scooter.

0:59Without warning, one of the suspects

1:01threw a corrosive substance at him

1:03before the pair fled the scene.

1:05As if that weren't disturbing enough,

1:07CCTV footage later revealed that the

1:09situation may have been even more

1:11coordinated than it initially appeared.

1:13Police say recordings show a total of

1:15four individuals on two separate

1:17scooters following Andre prior to the

1:19attack, suggesting a high level of

1:21planning.

1:22In the immediate aftermath, Andre

1:24suffered severe injuries. According to

1:26KontraS representatives, he sustained

1:29chemical burns to approximately 24% of

1:31his body including his face, arms,

1:34hands, torso, and most critically his

1:36right eye. He is currently receiving

1:39specialized treatment in intensive care.

1:42As authorities began their

1:43investigation, they recovered several

1:45key pieces of evidence including a

1:47motorcycle helmet and a container

1:48believed to have held the acid used in

1:50the attack. Both items are now

1:52undergoing forensic testing.

1:54At this stage, police say that they are

1:56actively searching for four suspects

1:58believed to be involved in the crime.

2:00Two of them have since been identified

2:01by the initials BHC and MAK, with

2:05authorities releasing footage showing

2:06their faces.

2:08Additionally, on March 18th, the

2:10Indonesian military announced the arrest

2:12of four soldiers accused of having ties

2:14to the chilling assault. While their

2:16exact roles in the crime are unclear at

2:18this point, the soldiers were identified

2:20by the initials NDP, SL, BHW, and ES. An

2:25official stated they are now being held

2:27at a maximum security facility in

2:28Jakarta.

2:30While no official motive has been

2:31officially confirmed, the timing of the

2:33attack has raised serious concerns.

2:35According to reports, Andre had just

2:37finished recording a podcast in which he

2:39criticized efforts to expand the

2:41Indonesian military's influence over

2:43civilian government, a stance that had

2:45previously made him a target of threats.

2:48Human rights organizations have since

2:50spoken out suggesting the attack was not

2:52random. More than 170 civil society

2:55groups, including Amnesty International,

2:57have described the incident as an

2:59attempt to silence and intimidate

3:00activists, warning that it reflects a

3:02broader pattern of violence against

3:04those who challenge powerful

3:06institutions in the country.

3:08The United Nations human rights chief

3:09likewise described the incident as

3:11horrific and called for those

3:13responsible to be held accountable.

3:15While Indonesia's own minister for law

3:17and human rights stated that the assault

3:19represents an attack on democracy

3:20itself.

3:22Observers have also pointed to

3:23similarities between this case and

3:25previous high-profile acid attacks in

3:28Indonesia, raising concerns about

3:30ongoing impunity for these culprits and

3:32the safety of public figures who speak

3:34out. At the time of this recording,

3:36authorities continue to search for the

3:37suspects while Andre remains in hospital

3:40as he recovers from his injuries. The

3:42investigation remains ongoing.

3:52>> Authorities in the Netherlands say that

3:53a targeted and concerning incident is

3:55under investigation this week after an

3:57explosion damaged a Jewish school in

4:00what officials are calling a deliberate

4:02attack against the community. The

4:04incident occurred in the early hours of

4:05Saturday, March 14th in an upscale

4:08residential area on the south side of

4:09Amsterdam in the Buitenveldert district.

4:12According to officials, the explosion

4:14happened at the exterior of the school

4:16identified as the only Orthodox Jewish

4:18school in the country.

4:20At the time of the blast, the school was

4:21closed and no injuries were reported.

4:24However, the explosion caused visible

4:26damage to the building including

4:27charring to an outer wall and damage to

4:29a drainage pipe. Emergency services

4:32including police and firefighters were

4:33quickly dispatched to the scene where an

4:35investigation was immediately launched.

4:37Preliminary findings suggest that the

4:39incident was not accidental.

4:41Police say CCTV footage appears to show

4:43two individuals arriving at the school

4:45on a motorized scooter.

4:47One of the suspects is believed to have

4:48placed an explosive device against the

4:50outer wall of the building before both

4:52fled the scene. Moments later, the

4:54device detonated.

4:56Authorities have since obtained images

4:57of the suspects and are actively working

4:59to identify and locate them.

5:01Amsterdam's mayor, Femke Halsema,

5:03described the incident as quote a

5:05deliberate attack against the Jewish

5:07community calling it a cowardly act of

5:09aggression. She also noted that Jewish

5:11residents in the city have increasingly

5:13been confronted with anti-Semitism

5:15describing the situation as

5:16unacceptable.

5:18The incident comes amid a series of

5:20similar events in the region. Just one

5:22day earlier, an arson attack was

5:24reported at a synagogue in Rotterdam and

5:26in neighboring Belgium, an explosion

5:28caused a fire at a synagogue in Liège

5:30earlier in the week.

5:32At this stage, authorities have not

5:33confirmed many other details though

5:35there are reports that a new terror

5:37group has claimed responsibility for

5:39several of these incidents online.

5:41The group whose Arabic name reportedly

5:43translates to the Islamic Movement of

5:46the Companions of the right is believed

5:48to have links to Iranian based terror

5:50networks. That being said, it's

5:52important to point out that currently no

5:54actual evidence has been provided by the

5:56alleged terror group of their

5:57involvement. Currently, police continue

5:59to review surveillance footage and

6:01gather evidence as they work to identify

6:03those responsible.

6:12>> Representatives from the UK's West

6:14Midlands police say that a disturbing at

6:16a park has led to multiple arrests this

6:19week after a man's body was found

6:21concealed inside a garbage bin.

6:23The incident began at around 5:00 p.m.

6:25on Friday, March 13th when a member of

6:27the public made the shocking find in a

6:29wooded area of Cash's Park in the city

6:32of Coventry. According to police, the

6:34man's body was found hidden inside of a

6:36green council-issued wheeled garbage

6:38bin.

6:39Officers were called to the scene and

6:41quickly launched a major investigation

6:43with forensic teams and detectives

6:44working to determine the man's identity,

6:46his cause of death, and how his body

6:48ended up in the park.

6:50Early findings suggested a complex case

6:53and few details have so far been

6:54confirmed about the circumstances.

6:56However, investigators have indicated

6:59that the male victim may have been

7:00struck by a vehicle before being moved

7:02to the location where he was found. They

7:04also noted that they were working

7:06closely with local officials in an

7:08attempt to trace where the garbage bin

7:09may have come from as part of efforts to

7:11reconstruct the sequence of events. On

7:14March 16th, police confirmed that three

7:16individuals have been arrested in

7:17connection with the case. A man and a

7:20woman in their 40s along with a man in

7:21his 20s were detained in the town of

7:23Blackpool, approximately 140 miles from

7:26Coventry.

7:28The efforts to identify the victim took

7:30more time with police asking for the

7:32public's help in releasing information

7:34about several distinctive tattoos.

7:36On March 17th, it was announced that the

7:38man was 37-year-old Thomas Niven. In a

7:42released through authorities that same

7:44day, Thomas' heartbroken family wrote in

7:46part, quote, "As a family, we are all in

7:48shock and are devastated. Our hearts are

7:50in pieces at the loss of Tom in such a

7:52cruel way. He was a pillar of strength

7:55towards us all. He was loving and

7:57caring. He loved all of his family. He

7:59was a big softy when it came to animals

8:01and his nephews and nieces. We are so

8:03proud to have had Tom in our lives. His

8:06life has tragically been cut short in

8:07the most cruel way. Tom will forever be

8:10missed."

8:11At the time of this recording, police

8:12are continuing to appeal for witnesses

8:14who may have information connected to

8:16the case. Police are particularly

8:18interested in hearing from anyone who

8:20may have noticed unexplained damage to a

8:22vehicle or who may have seen suspicious

8:24activity in the area around the time of

8:26the incident. They have also asked

8:27residents to report if any garbage bins

8:29matching the description have recently

8:31gone missing. In the meantime, all three

8:33suspects remain in custody on suspicion

8:35of murder and assisting an offender and

8:38are undergoing questioning. Detective

8:40Chief Inspector Phil Poole, who is

8:42leading the investigation, said that

8:43officers are continuing to build a

8:45clearer picture of what may have

8:46happened. The investigation remains

8:49ongoing.

8:58>> Authorities in South Korea say that a

8:59disturbing and preventable tragedy is

9:02under investigation this week after a

9:04woman was fatally attacked in broad

9:06daylight by a man who had already been

9:08reported to police multiple times for

9:11stalking her.

9:12The incident occurred on Saturday, March

9:1414th in the city of Namyangju, located

9:16about 12 miles east of Seoul. According

9:19to officials, police received an

9:21emergency report at around 9:00 a.m.

9:23that a woman in her 20s or 30s had been

9:25attacked on the street. When emergency

9:27responders arrived, they found the

9:28victim in cardiac arrest. She was rushed

9:31to hospital, but sadly, she did not

9:33survive.

9:34Authorities have confirmed that the

9:35suspect is a man in his 40s, an

9:38ex-convict who was required to wear an

9:39electronic ankle monitoring device at

9:41the time of the attack. Investigators

9:43say the two had previously been in a

9:45relationship and had been living

9:46together. In the lead up to the

9:48incident, the victim had reportedly

9:50contacted police at least six times

9:52raising concerns about stalking and

9:54harassment. As a result, she was

9:56supposed to have been placed under

9:57police protection and was even equipped

9:59with a smartwatch designed to alert

10:01authorities in an emergency. Despite

10:03these measures, the situation escalated.

10:06According to reports, the suspect

10:08approached the victim in a vehicle on

10:09the morning of the attack. He then broke

10:12the windows of the car she was in before

10:13stabbing her multiple times and fleeing

10:16the scene.

10:17Shortly after carrying out the attack,

10:19the suspect reportedly destroyed his

10:20electronic ankle monitor. However, just

10:23over an hour later at approximately

10:2410:08 a.m., police located and

10:27apprehended him in the nearby county of

10:29Yangpyeong. Authorities say he was found

10:31after fleeing the scene in his own

10:32vehicle and at the time of his arrest

10:35was reportedly under the influence of an

10:36undisclosed substance. He currently

10:39remains in custody.

10:40The case has sparked widespread outrage

10:42across South Korea, particularly over

10:44concerns that authorities failed to

10:46adequately protect the female victim

10:48despite clear and repeated warning

10:50signs. Officials have since acknowledged

10:52that stronger preventative measures were

10:54necessary, including more aggressive use

10:56of restraining orders and earlier

10:58intervention.

10:59In response to the incident, President

11:01Lee Jae-myung has ordered an

11:03investigation into how the case was

11:04handled by police, criticizing what he

11:07described as a slow and insufficient

11:09response by authorities. He also called

11:11for sweeping changes to improve

11:13protections for victims of stalking and

11:15domestic violence, including better

11:17tracking systems and stronger legal

11:19safeguards. At the time of this

11:21recording, the investigation remains

11:22ongoing as officials work to determine

11:24exactly how this awful crime unfolded

11:27and how future tragedies might be

11:29prevented.

11:37>> Authorities in Argentina say that a

11:39shocking and deeply disturbing case is

11:42under investigation this week after a

11:44man allegedly killed his ex-partner

11:46inside her own home then calmly showed

11:48up to a nearby street celebration

11:50covered in blood raising suspicions that

11:53ultimately led to his arrest. The victim

11:56has been identified as 43-year-old

11:57Eugenia Mendiburu, a municipal employee

12:00who lived in the town of General Alvear

12:03located in Buenos Aires province.

12:05According to reports, the horrifying

12:07situation unfolded on March 13th inside

12:10Eugenia's home. Investigators say that

12:12at some point while Eugenia was inside

12:14the residence, a violent attack took

12:16place.

12:17While the full details have not yet been

12:19officially confirmed, authorities

12:21believe the assault involved a sharp

12:22object. Sadly, Eugenia did not survive.

12:26What makes the case particularly

12:27chilling though is what police say

12:29happened next.

12:31According to investigators, the suspect,

12:33identified as Eugenia's ex-partner,

12:3549-year-old Javier Flores, allegedly

12:37attempted to conceal the crime by hiding

12:40her body behind a couch inside the

12:41residence. He then left the home, but

12:44instead of fleeing the area or trying to

12:46go into hiding, Flores did something

12:48that immediately caught the attention of

12:49those around him. He went to a local

12:52street fair. At the time, community

12:54carnival celebrations known as corsos

12:57were taking place just a few blocks away

12:58from Eugenia's home with large crowds

13:01gathered outside. Witnesses say that

13:03Flores showed up to the event wearing

13:05blood-stained clothing with visible

13:07injuries to his body including a cut on

13:09his finger and marks on his neck.

13:11Understandably, his appearance raised

13:13alarm. People who knew both Flores and

13:16Eugenia became concerned especially

13:18given their history. According to local

13:20reports, the two had previously been in

13:22a relationship that was marked by

13:24allegations of repeated domestic

13:26violence.

13:27As concerns grew, attempts were made to

13:29contact Eugenia, but no one was able to

13:31reach her. That's when police were

13:33notified. Officers responded to the

13:35scene and entered Eugenia's home, where

13:37they made the tragic discovery. Inside,

13:40they found her body hidden behind

13:42furniture, confirming everyone's worst

13:44fears.

13:45Not long after, Javier Flores was

13:47located and detained. According to

13:49reports, he had briefly gone to a local

13:51hospital, where he attempted to explain

13:53away the blood on his clothing, as well

13:55as his injuries, by claiming that he had

13:57cut himself while slicing a cake.

13:59However, that story quickly fell apart.

14:02Flores was later arrested, and his

14:04blood-stained clothing was seized as

14:05evidence. Due to the outrage and tension

14:08within the community following his

14:09arrest, he was reportedly transferred to

14:11a police unit outside of the town for

14:13his own safety. The case is now being

14:15investigated as a femicide, a

14:17classification used in Argentina for

14:19killings involving gender-based

14:21violence. As the investigation

14:23continues, authorities are working to

14:25determine the full sequence of events,

14:27including whether anyone else may have

14:28been involved.

14:29In the aftermath, friends and family

14:31have taken to social media to share

14:33tributes, describing Eugenia as a kind,

14:35hardworking woman, a devoted mother and

14:37grandmother, and someone who was always

14:39smiling. At the time of this recording,

14:41the investigation remains ongoing, as

14:44officials continue to gather evidence

14:45and build their case against Flores.

14:55>> Authorities in Thailand's Chonburi

14:57province say that they dealt with quite

14:59the unusual call this week after they

15:01were forced to arrest a man when he was

15:03caught trespassing inside a zoo

15:05enclosure belonging to an

15:07internet-famous hippopotamus.

15:10The strange situation unfolded on the

15:11afternoon of March 17th at the Khao

15:13Kheow Open Zoo, about 60 mi southeast of

15:16Bangkok. Shortly after 5:15 p.m., a man

15:20wearing a green tank top, brown shorts,

15:22a black toque, and sunglasses secretly

15:25entered the off-limits area, which

15:26houses the zoo's pygmy hippos. The man

15:29then quickly approached one of the

15:31hippos in particular, whose name is

15:33Mudang. If that name sounds familiar,

15:36it's likely because you've seen Mudang

15:38before. After she was born at the zoo in

15:40July of 2024, a keeper there began

15:43sharing photos and videos of her online,

15:45ones that quickly went viral. Honestly,

15:48if you were on the internet at all

15:49during it was basically impossible not

15:52to see one of these many adorable images

15:54or clips, several of which were quickly

15:56turned into memes. Personally, my

15:59favorites were the ones that compared

16:00Mudang to a real-life house hippo, which

16:03for those unfamiliar is a reference from

16:05a famous and nostalgic Canadian PSA

16:07campaign in the 1990s put on by a

16:10nonprofit organization called Concerned

16:12Children's Advertisers. Anyway,

16:14according to zoo officials, the accused

16:16trespasser, who has not yet been

16:17identified by name, took advantage of a

16:20moment when keepers were not present and

16:22no other visitors were around. Security

16:24camera footage shows him climbing into

16:26the enclosure, after which he walked up

16:28to Mudang and her mother Jonah.

16:30Thankfully, it appears that the man

16:31never harmed or even tried to touch the

16:34animals. Instead, he began snapping

16:36photos up close with a tablet until he

16:38was noticed a couple of minutes later by

16:40staff. When he was discovered, he

16:42apparently made no attempt to flee and

16:44simply waited until police arrived and

16:46arrested him.

16:47While neither Mudang or her mother were

16:49harmed during the incident, zoo

16:51officials stated that it did seem that

16:52they were startled by what had happened,

16:54and the pair have been closely monitored

16:56ever since.

16:57The Khao Kheow Open Zoo, which is the

16:59second largest zoo in Asia, has always

17:01been a popular destination, but it's

17:03attracted even larger crowds since

17:05Mudang's birth. The zoo is

17:07understandably pleased with the

17:08interest, but reminded the public on

17:10social media following this week's

17:11incident that visitors need to follow

17:13all rules and instructions from staff

17:15for the safety of both themselves and

17:17the animals there. In the meantime, the

17:19male suspect was charged with

17:20trespassing and has since been released

17:23on bail.

17:31Authorities in the Indian state of

17:33Odisha say that a horrifying case of

17:35domestic violence has left three members

17:37of a family dead this week after an

17:39elderly man allegedly carried out a

17:41brutal attack inside his own home before

17:44fleeing the scene.

17:45The incident took place on the night of

17:47Wednesday, March 11th in Deogarh

17:49district. According to police, the

17:51suspect is Ramesh Guria, an elderly man

17:54who is now on the run. The victims have

17:56been identified as his wife, 42-year-old

17:59Gul Guria, his 24-year-old

18:01daughter-in-law, Lipi Mahakul, and his

18:034-year-old granddaughter, Ishani.

18:05Investigators say the situation began

18:07late that night at around 11:30 p.m.

18:10when a domestic dispute broke out inside

18:12the family home. At some point during

18:14the argument, tensions boiled over.

18:17Police believe that in a sudden outburst

18:18of violence, Guria allegedly grabbed a

18:21large hammer and attacked his wife. In

18:23an attempt to escape, Gul reportedly ran

18:26into another room in the house where her

18:27daughter-in-law and young granddaughter

18:29were. However, investigators say Guria

18:31followed her. Inside the room, he

18:34allegedly continued the attack, striking

18:36both women before turning the weapon on

18:38the 4-year-old child.

18:40All three victims were killed at the

18:41scene.

18:42Authorities say another family member,

18:44identified as a niece who was inside the

18:46home at the time, managed to escape the

18:48attack and later became a key

18:50eyewitness. In the moments after the

18:52incident, Guria also reportedly went to

18:54a nearby house belonging to his brother

18:56where he allegedly described what had

18:58happened. He then fled the area.

19:00The crime was discovered shortly after

19:02when family members alerted police.

19:04Officers from a local police station

19:06responded to the scene where they found

19:08the three victims inside the home.

19:10Police say preliminary findings suggest

19:12the attack may have been triggered by an

19:13argument, though the exact motive is

19:16still under investigation. Authorities

19:18also noted that the suspect may have

19:19been under the influence of alcohol at

19:21the time. At the time of this recording,

19:23Ramesh Ghadia remains on the run.

19:25Multiple teams have been deployed to

19:27search for him while officers continue

19:29to question neighbors and gather witness

19:31statements in an effort to reconstruct

19:32the horrifying events of that night.

19:43>> Authorities in the Australian state of

19:44Queensland say that a deeply tragic and

19:46disturbing case is under investigation

19:48this week after a mother and her young

19:50daughter were allegedly murdered inside

19:53their home. A discovery that came just

19:55moments after the child's father was

19:57struck by a vehicle nearby.

20:00The victims have been identified as

20:0138-year-old Kate Patterson and her

20:0311-month-old daughter April.

20:06According to police, the situation

20:07unfolded on the morning of March 12th in

20:09the suburban community of Baldivis,

20:12located about 20 miles south of

20:13Brisbane.

20:15The case first came to light at around

20:167:30 a.m. when emergency services were

20:19called to Beau Desert Beenleigh Road

20:21following reports that a man had been

20:22hit by a vehicle. Witnesses said the

20:25man, later identified as 38-year-old

20:27Blake Sears, had been running into

20:29traffic when the collision occurred.

20:31Several people who saw the incident

20:33reported that Sears appeared to be

20:34covered in blood before he was hit and

20:37had visible injuries including what

20:39looked like a wound to his neck.

20:42As officers responded to the scene and

20:43began dealing with Sears's injuries,

20:45they made the decision to go to his

20:47nearby home to notify his family about

20:49what had happened. However, when police

20:51arrived at the residence,

20:53the situation took a devastating turn.

20:55Inside the home, officers discovered the

20:57bodies of Kate and baby April.

21:00Both had suffered injuries that

21:02authorities say were consistent with an

21:03edged weapon.

21:05The house was immediately declared a

21:06crime scene, and a major investigation

21:08was launched. Detectives and forensic

21:10teams spent hours at the property

21:12working to piece together exactly what

21:14had unfolded inside the home. At the

21:16same time, police began retracing

21:18Sears's movements, marking a trail of

21:20blood between the residence, a local

21:22footpath, and the location where he was

21:24struck by the vehicle. Neighbors have

21:27since described hearing concerning

21:28sounds in the hours leading up to the

21:30discovery. One nearby resident said his

21:32mother heard cries coming from the home

21:34early that morning, including what

21:36sounded like a very young child

21:38screaming.

21:39As the investigation developed, Blake

21:41Sears was taken to hospital in serious

21:43condition, where he remains under police

21:45guard. Authorities have since confirmed

21:47that he has been charged with two counts

21:48of murder, including a domestic

21:50violence-related offense involving a

21:52child. While no motive behind the crime

21:55has currently been confirmed, it has

21:56since been reported that Sears was

21:58diagnosed with a schizoaffective

22:00disorder. The details of his condition

22:02and when that diagnosis was made remain

22:04unclear, though. Similarly, the

22:06circumstances leading up to the tragedy

22:08also appear to be a mystery. Now,

22:11haunting surveillance video recorded

22:13just hours before all of this captured

22:15the family walking through the

22:16neighborhood with nothing appearing to

22:18be out of the ordinary at the time. At

22:20this stage, police have stated that

22:22their minds remain open as they work to

22:24establish a full timeline. What we do

22:26know, though, is that the impact on the

22:28community has been profound. Kate was

22:31described as a much-loved local primary

22:33school teacher, and in the days

22:34following the incident, hundreds of

22:36people gathered for a candlelight vigil

22:38to honor both her and her daughter.

22:41Flowers and tributes have continued to

22:42grow outside the family home as

22:44neighbors and loved ones struggle to

22:46come to terms with what happened. At the

22:48time of this recording, the

22:49investigation remains ongoing, with

22:51authorities urging anyone who may have

22:53dashcam footage or information from the

22:55area between 7:00 and 8:30 that morning
