0:02Hello. Are you ready to improve your
0:04English? Well, today you are inside of
0:09my refrigerator and we are going to
0:12improve our English with comprehensible
0:14input. What is comprehensible input?
0:18Comprehensible input is when a native
0:20speaker like me speaks in a way that you
0:25can understand. And today I am going to
0:28make a comprehensible input video for
0:31you by showing you how I eat every day.
0:36So today I'm going to show you
0:37everything I eat. We are going to talk
0:39about food and you are going to learn a
0:42ton of useful real life vocabulary in
0:47English. Are you ready? Let's
0:51go. Hey guys, Kyle here. I just want to
0:55welcome all of the new subscribers who
0:59found me on my recent videos or this
1:01video. And I want to give a big virtual
1:04hug and welcome back to all of my loyal
1:07subscribers who have been watching my
1:09videos, some of you guys for years. I
1:12appreciate you all very much. So, before
1:15I show you guys what I eat in a day,
1:19let's talk a little bit about diet.
1:21Okay? And your diet is what you eat.
1:24Okay? Your diet is what you eat every
1:27day, every week, every month. And the
1:30thing about diet is everybody eats
1:33different, right? Some people like to
1:36eat little things all day long. All day
1:40they're snacking. To snack means that
1:43you're eating something little. Popcorn,
1:46potato chips, candy. Some people snack
1:50all day. Okay. Some people like to eat
1:53the three main meals. Okay. And in
1:57English, we call the traditional three
1:59meals breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
2:03Breakfast is what you eat in the
2:06morning. Lunch is what you usually eat
2:08around 12:00 or 100 p.m. sometimes. and
2:13dinner. I would say people normally
2:16traditionally eat dinner around 5:00
2:19p.m. here in the United States. I know
2:22some places they eat dinner very late. I
2:25heard that in Spain sometimes they eat
2:28dinner at like 1000 p.m. Sounds weird to
2:31me. So, before I show you guys how I
2:34eat, let's talk about how I eat. And you
2:37guys are going to get a lot of good
2:38vocabulary in this video. A ton. So
2:42guys, I usually just eat two times a day
2:46normally. Most days I eat twice a day.
2:48Sometimes I eat three, but I never never
2:52snack. I never eat snacks, little
2:55snacks. And I never eat more than three
2:58meals a day. So how I eat, usually I eat
3:02two big meals. So, on days that I do not
3:05have to go to work, I usually will eat
3:08my first meal around 10 or 11 a.m. Okay.
3:13I know for some people, they're
3:15thinking, "Oh, how do you do that? It's
3:17so hard. I would be so hungry." And when
3:20my wife says that, I tell her, "Man
3:21cannot live by bread alone." Just a
3:24joke. Which means that there's more
3:26important things than eating. So,
3:29normally I'll eat one meal at 10 or
3:3211:00 a.m. and then I will eat a big
3:34dinner around 5 or 6:00 p.m. with my
3:37wife. So, the only times that I eat
3:40three times a day are when I work early
3:43in the morning and then I go to the gym
3:46to work out before work. Okay? So, if I
3:50have to work at 6:30 a.m., I'll go to
3:53the gym at 4:30 a.m., work out for 1
3:57hour, and then go to work. So, guys,
4:00when I do that, I am so hungry. I'm
4:04starving. So, guys, starving is actually
4:09not a good thing. Starving means that
4:11you are dying of hunger. You're so
4:14hungry that your body is dying. It's
4:16eating itself. But people say that all
4:20the time when they're very hungry. They
4:22will say, "I'm starving. I need to eat."
4:25But now that I think about it, that
4:27sounds really bad because there are a
4:29lot of people in the world who are
4:31actually starving. So, but yeah, on days
4:33where I eat three meals, I eat smaller
4:36meals. So, I'll eat a smaller meal after
4:39the gym before I start working. Then
4:42I'll eat another medium-sized meal at
4:46lunchtime at work. And then I'll eat my
4:48big meal after I get home from work. So,
4:51another big part of my diet, which I
4:54know is not good for me, and I'm trying
4:56to slow down, coffee. Coffee, guys. I
5:00will drink black coffee uh in the
5:03morning when I'm not eating and it helps
5:05me to not be so hungry and give me
5:07energy. And there's no calories in this.
5:09I drink my coffee black. No cream, no
5:12milk, no sugar. I just like it black.
5:15All right, guys. Let's show you how I
5:17cook and eat pretty much every day.
5:21Okay, guys. Let's make meal number one.
5:25Like I said, when I don't work very
5:27early in the day and I don't get up very
5:30early to go to the gym, I usually just
5:33eat twice. So, this is going to be the
5:35first of my two meals today. All right,
5:38let's check out our ingredients. Our
5:41ingredients, the things that we are
5:43going to use to make this meal. We have
5:46eggs. Going to use a little bit of
5:49butter. This is sausage. Pork sausage.
5:53Now I know that a lot of people all
5:56around the world do not or cannot eat
6:00pork both for health reasons or
6:03religious reasons. So if that is your
6:06case and you don't or can't eat pork,
6:09they make sausage just like this out of
6:12beef and even out of turkey. So check
6:15that out. It's really good, too. I just
6:17like pork because I like fattier meat
6:20because when you're cooking, my friends,
6:22fat is flavor. I've got some cheese
6:24right here. Some really good high
6:27quality cheese. And I bought this at a
6:30local farm by my house. I prefer to buy
6:32things from local farms than to go to
6:35the big stores because I want to support
6:38local families, right? That's what you
6:40should do. And then we've got these.
6:43These are wraps. We're going to
6:46basically make breakfast burritos or you
6:48could call them breakfast wraps. Now, we
6:51call them wraps because you wrap them
6:53up. Now, to wrap is a very useful verb
6:57in English. You can wrap up burritos.
7:01You can wrap a present. To wrap is a
7:04very useful verb. So, don't forget that
7:07to wrap. We are going to make a
7:09breakfast wrap. So, I'm making some rice
7:12right now. I forgot to mention that
7:14ingredient, but my rice is cooking right
7:16now. And while it's cooking, I'm going
7:18to get everything ready. All right,
7:20guys. So, the first thing we're going to
7:22do is to grate some of this delicious
7:25farm fresh cheese. This, my friends,
7:28this is called a cheese grater. And you
7:31use it to grate to grate cheese. Right
7:35now, I am grating cheese. Let me grate
7:38this cheese and then we'll talk about
7:40the next step. Okay guys, now that we
7:42have our grated cheese, let's
7:45crack some
7:54eggs. Okay, guys, cracking eggs to crack
7:58eggs is also something very useful to
8:00know in English because many times if
8:03you're watching a recipe video or a
8:05cooking show, they will say to crack
8:07eggs. That just means to open up the
8:11eggs, put them in a bowl. All right, so
8:13now I'm going to cook my sausage and my
8:16eggs. I'm not going to show you all of
8:17that because this is not a cooking
8:19video. It's just an English video. I
8:21just wanted to show you guys some very
8:23useful verbs like grating cheese and
8:27cracking eggs. So, I'll show you guys
8:29when I'm ready to put this together. All
8:31right. All right, guys. It is time to
8:33make these sausage, egg, rice, and
8:37cheese breakfast wraps. I'm also going
8:40to teach you guys another very useful
8:43phrase in English, which is meal
8:46prepping. Meal prepping. And we are
8:49about to meal prep. What is meal
8:51prepping? Meal prepping is when you cook
8:54one time, but you make meals for more
8:57than one day. For example, we're going
9:00to make one wrap here. I'm going to eat
9:02that right now. I'm going to make two
9:04other wraps right here. But I am not
9:06going to eat those today. I'm going to
9:08eat those tomorrow and the next day.
9:10This way when I wake up, I do not have
9:13to cook. That is the best part about
9:15meal prepping. You cook one time and
9:18then you get to eat for a couple days
9:20without cooking again. Meal prepping is
9:23cool and it helps you to be healthier
9:26because if you already have food
9:28prepared and ready, you will not be
9:30thinking, hm, maybe I should eat this
9:33this bread, this doughut, this cake,
9:36you're going to think, no, I already
9:38have my healthy meal in the
9:41refrigerator. Let me just eat that. All
9:42right, guys. So, now we're going to put
9:44equal parts of all the things we cooked
9:48on each thing. Boom. Boom. On each rack.
9:51So, we're going to start cheese. Let's
9:53put cheese on each wrap. And I know this
9:55looks like a lot of cheese. That's
9:57because it is. This is a very healthy
10:00cheese, and I love cheese. I know some
10:02of you guys probably cannot eat cheese
10:04or drink too much milk because it makes
10:06your stomach hurt. That happens to my
10:09wife, but me, I could eat cheese and
10:11drink milk all day and it does not hurt
10:14me. So, I love dairy. And what is dairy?
10:18Dairy is what we call any food that is
10:21made by milk. Dairy. Dairy products.
10:24Cheese, yogurt, milk, dairy products.
10:28Now, the white rice that I prepared, the
10:31white rice that I cooked earlier. We're
10:33going to put some of that on each one. I
10:35hope all this stuff's going to fit on
10:36these. Now, we've got our eggs. These
10:38are the eggs that I made. We'll put an
10:40equal part of eggs on each one. And
10:42last, the
10:44sausage. All right, guys. Now, let's see
10:47if we could even wrap these things up.
10:49One, two, and three. All right. And with
10:52this meal, I'm going to have another
10:54dairy product that I really like that I
10:57bought from local farm. This is called
10:59cafir. And kefir is like a yogurt that
11:03you can drink. It is very good for you.
11:05And I think it's delicious. Tastes so
11:07healthy. All right, let's try the first
11:10meal of the day. Sausage, rice, and egg,
11:13and cheese breakfast wrap.
11:17M. That's delicious. All right, guys.
11:20I'll show you when I'm going to make my
11:23next meal and the last meal of the day.
11:26See you in a couple hours. All right,
11:28guys. Dinner time. Guess what I'm going
11:31to make. Wife, what am I going to make?
11:34Ramen. I'm going to make some ramen
11:37noodles. A Japanese dish. You could just
11:39buy a little little bag that has the
11:42ramen noodles in it, but we're going to
11:43make it with all these ingredients. It's
11:45going to be delicious. So, let's go over
11:48our ingredients here. We've got some
11:50beef. This is going to be a beef ramen
11:52or a steak ramen. Right here, we have
11:54what we call in English mushrooms. This
11:58is called bok choy. Some of you guys, if
12:01you're in Asia, you may know what this
12:02is. Bak choy. Got some garlic here, some
12:06ginger, and we're going to use the broth
12:09uh to make the soup. So, first things
12:11I'm going to do, smash up garlic. Okay.
12:15And then we need just a little piece of
12:18ginger, guys. Ginger is very strong, so
12:21you don't need a lot. Maybe a piece like
12:22that. We're going to get this heating up
12:25in a pan, and then we'll get our broth
12:27going. We'll cut up our other
12:28vegetables, and I'll show you guys where
12:30we're at in just a minute. All right,
12:31guys. So, we have our garlic chopped up.
12:34This is to chop. To chop. We have our
12:37ginger chopped up. To chop. To chop.
12:41Chopping is an important verb. We have
12:43our bok choy boiling in water for just a
12:46couple minutes. And now we're going to
12:48put it into some cold water. This is
12:50called
12:51blanching. You make it softer, but it
12:54still is a little bit crunchy. You take
12:56it out before it gets too soft. And we
12:58put in the cold water. That's blanched.
13:00I'm going to put it in the fridge until
13:01we're ready for it. The refrigerator,
13:03guys. The refrigerator. I just said
13:05something very native. The fridge. Okay,
13:08the fridge. That's what we call the
13:10refrigerator. If you're a native English
13:12speaker, from the US in Britain, they
13:15say weird things. They probably say,
13:16"Oh, get me something from the cold box,
13:19mate." Something like that. All right,
13:21guys. I've got this little pot. This is
13:25what our broth is going to go into. It's
13:27hot and there's a little bit of oil in
13:29there. We're going to put our garlic and
13:31our ginger in there. Ooh, it smells
13:33already. And guys, this is going to be
13:35delicious. And I want to start this
13:38before I start the meat because you want
13:40to cook this for a little while and let
13:42those flavors really get into the broth.
13:44All right, we're going to let the broth
13:46cook for a little bit while I get
13:47everything else ready. I'm going to cook
13:49the meat and I'll show you as we bring
13:52it all together and serve up a couple of
13:55delicious bowls of ramen for my
13:57beautiful wife and myself. See you guys
14:00in a minute. All right, guys. Take the
14:02beef out. And now, if you watch any
14:06video of somebody who knows how to cook
14:08steak, they're going to tell you to let
14:11it rest. Rest. You got to let the steak
14:14rest. Okay? It has something to do with
14:17if you cut it right away, all of the
14:19juices will squirt right out of it. And
14:21we do not want that. We want a juicy
14:24steak. Juicy steak. So, while we let
14:27this rest for about 10 minutes, we're
14:29going to start cooking our mushrooms,
14:31which I already cut. We're going to cook
14:34that in the same pan that the steak was
14:36in. And then we're going to cook our
14:38noodles, and everything is going to come
14:40together deliciously. See you guys in a
14:42minute. Okay guys, everything is
14:44starting to come together. Now we have
14:46to slice our steak. So the difference
14:48between the verb to chop and to slice.
14:52Let me explain it. This is
14:55chopping. This Come here, wife. This is
14:58slicing. That's
15:00slicing. That is slicing. So we're going
15:02to slice the steak. That's slicing. This
15:05is
15:06chopping. Slice up our
15:09steak. Oh, that looks good. Oh, I can't
15:12wait, guys. cuz I am getting hungry.
15:14Slicing the steak. Oops. That means the
15:16noodles are ready. Right with them. This
15:18one is for my child who doesn't want to
15:19eat ramen. You know how kids are. Drain
15:22the water. All right, guys. Time to put
15:24it all together. Got our noodles in the
15:26bowl here. Now, we take our delicious
15:29broth. Put that over the noodles. I'm
15:32only using this to be careful and not
15:34make a big mess.
15:37All right, guys. Now, the fun part. Now,
15:38we got to make it look good. So, we're
15:41going to take our eggs here. Put those
15:44here. These eggs came out ugly, but
15:46that's okay. So, you know what? Let's
15:48just show this one. Show the pretty one.
15:51And we will do some mushrooms. Some of
15:54these delicious mushrooms. Oh, we just
15:56make them pierce. Yeah. Yeah. And then
15:58we take one of our bok choys here. Like
16:00that.
16:02And we'll take our steak. And that is a
16:04professional bowl of rum. You get it in
16:06good light. Wow.
16:08Okay, guys. That's how I like to eat. We
16:12don't eat ramen every day, but my wife
16:14really wanted it, so I decided to make
16:15it for her. Let me know, guys. Do you
16:18think it's weird the way I eat? Is it
16:20way different from how you eat? Tell me
16:23in the comments below. I hope that you
16:25learned some good vocabulary from this
16:27video. You enjoyed watching the food
16:29that I eat and seeing how some guy on
16:32the other side of the world likes to eat
16:34his food. All right, my friends. Thank
16:36you for watching. See you later.
