0:00Imagine an Overworld with no mobs , no
0:03trees , no terrain , and only this portal
0:05. That's how I have to survive the next
0:09100 days , building a nice base , gearing
0:12up , beating Minecraft of course , but
0:14most importantly , I don't want to be
0:16alone . Have fun with 100 Days of Portal
0:20Only . Let's go . And yes , this world is
0:24very special , because as you can see ,
0:26we are trapped on a single Nether
0:29portal with a flint and steel in hand
0:31that looks pretty beat up . So , I was
0:34literally in the middle of nowhere and
0:36took stock of my situation . I have a
0:38really , really , really bad feeling that
0:41we have no choice but to enter the
0:43Nether on Day 1 . Please anything but a
0:46Soulsand Valley . Well , that's cheeky .
0:50I'm not playing this in Hardcore , by
0:52the way , because I had some trouble
0:54trying to survive 100 days in the
0:55Nether in Hardcore , and so we're doing
1:07a little trial run in Survival now and
1:09hoping we can get through this well .
1:12But I'm telling you , this spawn is
1:14bottom-tier , and since there was a risk
1:16of me becoming a walking target , I
1:18decided to build through the wall .
1:28And luckily , I came across exactly what
1:31I was looking for : wood . I immediately
1:36used my first wooden pickaxe to farm
1:38some Blackstone to craft my first stone
1:40upgrades . And then the first day was
1:43already over and it was Day number 2 .
1:46And that meant I secured the portal a
1:48bit more against intruders . Then I used
1:51some time to farm building materials
1:53because I wanted to use them to clear
1:55some space in the Overworld . Because I
1:57wanted to spawn-proof the area after
1:59all , I changed my mind and used slabs .
2:01Wow . I used the rest of Day 2 to secure
2:04the path to the Crimson Forest so I
2:06could farm wood much more easily .
2:10That's what I did . On Day 3 , I used the
2:16wood to expand my extremely
2:18questionable base with a very specific
2:20goal . And now comes the most
2:23professional mob farm you've ever seen .
2:25And well , I know it's all still a bit
2:27meager , but the resources just didn't
2:30allow for more right now . Yeah , so I'm
2:34not winning any beauty awards with this
2:35. I don't think I have any other choice
2:36. I'm not doing well at all if you take
2:39a look at my hunger bar . And really ,
2:41all that's left is to wait until it's
2:43night and then we can see if we can
2:45farm anything there . Our first
2:48gunpowder . Nice . Where is the spider ?
2:53We have our first overworld loot .
2:54That's also nice . One string and two
2:56gunpowder . Now I actually just need
2:58rotten flesh . And then it was time for
3:00me to wait . And if you're wondering why
3:02my face looked like that sometimes , I
3:04can only say I unfortunately don't know
3:06. Something about the shader settings
3:08must not have been quite right . But
3:10because the mob farm's yield was a bit
3:12meager , I decided to enlarge the
3:13platform . And lo and behold , there was
3:16a visit from the first zombie , which at
3:20least gave us two rotten flesh . Then my
3:22luck for the night was already used up
3:24and nothing else happened for the rest
3:26of the time . So on day 4 , with a grand
3:29total of two hunger bars , I went back
3:31into the Nether to break some knees and
3:34look around for some gold and finally
3:39to farm red mushrooms . Ah , a red
3:41mushroom . Since I had already found
3:43brown mushrooms , I could make myself
3:45some delicious soup back at the base .
3:47But before that happened , I had to tidy
3:49up for a moment and by day 5 , I had
3:55solved the hunger problem for the time
3:57being . Tip top . We have better hearts
4:03again . Because it's daytime again ,
4:05there's actually nothing for us to do
4:06here . And that's why we're going back
4:08to the Nether . And for the next few
4:10days , it was just a matter of farming
4:11resources . And that meant , among other
4:14things , that I farmed food . I crafted
4:19my first armor , farmed some wood , and
4:22of course mined gold to trade with . And
4:26very importantly , I got myself some
4:28Blackstone as a cobble replacement .
4:31After sitting out a visit from some
4:33flying friends , I made a nice campfire
4:36to cook my gathered meat . And for
4:38anyone interested in what I farmed and
4:40traded , here is all my loot on day
4:42number 6 . And because it all worked out
4:45so well , I kept right on farming and
4:47trading . We are besties . And on day 7
4:50it was time for some fun and relaxation
4:52, and that meant playing a round of
4:54tennis . Y music . And through trading as
5:03well as farming spiders in our great
5:05mob farm , I was able to achieve the
5:07first results . Alright , we have our
5:15first little bed . Everything is a bit
5:17wild due to spawnproofing and such , but
5:19nice . And because I was working
5:22extremely hard at this point , I more
5:24than earned my first night in this
5:26great bed . And it's now day number 8
5:29and we're making small , but nice
5:31progress in our beautiful base . But
5:35yeah , we are making progress . I'm still
5:36desperately trying to trade for iron .
5:38Unfortunately , I'm not doing very well
5:39at that , but at least we have something
5:41to eat . We have mushrooms for even more
5:43food . That means the problems from
5:44before are no longer problems . We have
5:46new problems and that is trading for
5:48iron . I saw something , a pillar of a
5:51fortress . That's pretty nice . And I
5:53think I won't go there right away . Yeah
5:56, I would find some iron nice to be
5:57able to make a shield . But we
5:59definitely found a fortress . That's
6:01also nice . I did take a closer look at
6:03the fortress and wondered how huge that
6:05thing was , but in the end I didn't go
6:08in . That just had to wait a little
6:10while longer . I couldn't imagine
6:11anything worse than going into this
6:13fortress without a shield to fight
6:15blazes . And so days 8 and 9 really just
6:18consisted of mining gold and crafting
6:20ingots to then trade . I got all sorts
6:24of things from fire resistance potions
6:26to new boots , but in the end it took
6:28until day 9 before I finally found
6:31someone who knew what I wanted . Iron
6:35nuggets . Oh , hopefully nine . 18 iron
6:37nuggets . You are my favorite friend .
6:40I'm telling you . We Okay , you don't
6:42have to throw the stuff away right away
6:44. We finally have iron nuggets and
6:46we're doing the only right thing . And
6:49day number 9 and we finally have a
6:51shield . I just feel safer with that .
6:54Let's go . How did you get up there ?
7:05Yeah , rotten flesh and such is nice ,
7:06but we're not that dependent on it
7:07anymore . Uh , we're actually doing
7:09pretty well . And then it was off to the
7:11Nether for me again , this time with the
7:13goal of making myself a full set of
7:14gold armor . And that's why on days 10
7:16and 11 I farmed some gold , crafted , and
7:19picked up a few achievements along the
7:21way . Full gold and that on day number
7:2311 . A bit unusual , but better than
7:25nothing , I'd say . With slightly more
7:28protection on my body , I now wanted to
7:30find and loot a bastion to get the
7:32really good stuff . But above all , I
7:34finally wanted to find more iron to
7:37finally get water via a cauldron to
7:39build a mob farm . The whole thing
7:41didn't go quite as well , though . So my
7:43seed absolutely doesn't like me . It’s
7:45honestly bottomless , how long I’ve
7:46been searching for a bastion now and
7:47just can’t find anything . I always
7:49feel like if I just go a little bit
7:50further , maybe something will appear ,
7:51and now he’s joined in too , so that
7:53means for us , we just go — let’s go .
7:54At least I got some more iron through
7:57trading . However , it was still way too
7:59little . So on day 15 , I quickly crafted
8:02a bow to keep on searching . My whole
8:05thought process behind it was : either I
8:07find a bastion and get crazy loot , or I
8:09farm and trade while I search , every
8:10now and then , and in the end , at least
8:12have enough iron . Well , what can I say ?
8:15Even though I always checked my
8:17surroundings properly before farming , I
8:19had absolutely no luck with trading or
8:22searching . That’s why I shoved
8:24someone off my platform first . Nah ,
8:29just kidding . Well , I did , but that’s
8:30not the point . So , on day 17 , I decided
8:32to loot the fortress with the help of
8:35some traded Fire Resistance potions .
8:37That was actually pretty nice in itself
8:39, because I found a total of five
8:41diamonds ,
8:47but otherwise , it wasn't really worth
8:49it . Of course , giving up was not an
8:51option for me . Man , this trading is
8:53truly bottomless . I even got two
8:55enchanted books , was super excited , and
8:57then realized , it’s Soul Speed and
8:59Soul Speed 2 . Oh , and for me , the
9:01mission is simple . I need iron , but I
9:03just can't get it . No matter how I turn
9:05and twist it , I get everything possible
9:07, just not iron . And somehow , I’m a
9:09bit stuck . I unfortunately just can’t
9:11get my hands on that stupid iron . I
9:12currently have four pieces , I would
9:14need ten . Then we can make a cauldron
9:16and a bucket and so on and so forth .
9:18It’s completely blocking me right now
9:20. I’m trading the whole time and
9:21trying to get things , but it’s
9:23failing somehow . We aren't having much
9:24luck there . I really had no choice but
9:27to just keep going and hope that luck
9:30would eventually be on my side . And
9:33while I was putting my negotiation
9:35skills to the test on days 19 and 20 , I
9:37had the crucial question : can you
9:39actually build mob farms without water ?
9:42And by that , I obviously didn't mean a
9:45generic platform like the one I already
9:47had , but a really properly functioning
9:49mob farm , and the answer was
9:51fortunately : Yes , you can . And for that
9:54great flash of inspiration , I was
9:56rewarded right away . He has iron . He
9:58has iron . He has — oh , hell yeah . Oh ,
10:01we still need two more iron . Let's go .
10:03Hope is alive . Okay , too bad . It was so
10:05cool . We got some more iron , but yeah ,
10:07we are still missing two ingots . That
10:09means for me , I'm really , really ,
10:11really going to go farm wood and then
10:12we're going to build a waterless mob
10:14farm . I chose wood because we needed an
10:16incredible amount of slabs and stairs
10:19for the farm , and wood was just a
10:21really good , easily farmable material ,

10:25there where I was just glad we weren't
10:27in Hardcore , right ? Yep ? Absolutely
10:34nothing happened , I would have said .
10:36Farming the wood took until day 22 , but
10:38then we were able to get started with
10:41our wonderful farm . Oki dok , I think we
10:43have everything together now to build a
10:45waterless mob farm . I'm terribly
10:47excited to see how it works and
10:49functions . I've never done it before ,
10:50because we really have to build a bit
10:52away from our platform . And I would say
10:54I'll start with that now and then I'll
10:56get straight to building a waterless
10:58mob farm on day 22 . I just have to
11:00build the walkway so that the farm
11:01works smoothly later on . And to make
11:03sure there are no accidents , I
11:05naturally lit up the walkway right away
11:08before I finally started on the farm .
11:10And it's the case that the farm
11:12consists of several levels . And since I
11:14had never built the farm before , I
11:15really didn't know how well the thing
11:17would run . But let's just say this much
11:19. As soon as the first level was roofed
11:21over , the sounds I wanted to hear

12:01and got to work on the remaining levels

12:06transform this nicely at some point
12:08later on ? But since I didn't have an
12:10answer for that , I pushed the whole
12:12topic aside and was just happy that the
12:14first mobs were slowly finding their
12:16way into the shaft . And we are really
12:22on the home stretch here . Just a little
12:25bit more and the farm is finished . An
12:26absolute dream . Tip top . Our waterless
12:29mob farm is ready and I hope we get
12:31some cool stuff and maybe even an iron
12:34ingot . And I can give you a little
12:36preview of the farm , so take a look at
12:37this . It was really busy in there ,
12:39except on the floor somehow . That
12:41complete emptiness was just crazy .
12:43Exactly . You can already see things are
12:44heating up now . We'll just wait a
12:46moment , watch it , and then we'll run
12:48over there , smack them a bit , and hope
12:50we get some really awesome loot . You
12:52can hear it already , something is going
12:54on . We just have to be careful that the
12:56creepers don't explode . And then I
13:04heard something that made me incredibly
13:06happy . Wait , I hear a zombie villager .
13:09I mean , if we can get a zombie villager
13:11out of there , then that would be insane
13:13. Damn , I need to plug the farm . How do
13:16I do that ? Panic . The farm is working
13:18incredibly well . We just have a little
13:20problem now . We need to get the zombie
13:22villager out of there somehow . Oh my
13:24god . Yeah , and as you could probably
13:27tell in hindsight , I was a bit
13:28overwhelmed by the situation . But after
13:31I collected myself a bit , I decided to
13:33build a nice place for the zombie
13:34villager to stay . And looking at it
13:37closely , none of it made any sense at
13:38all . I couldn't heal the villager , nor
13:41could I put him in a boat to prevent
13:43him from despawning . I just kept going
13:46anyway , blocked the farm , and cleared
13:48out the other mobs so that only the
13:50zombie villager was left in the end .
13:52And then I was able to open the farm ,
13:54and , purely out of politeness of course
13:56, the villager followed me . Please
13:58don't let yourselves be confused by
13:59that . Somehow the Replay Mod was acting
14:01up a bit here and kept giving the
14:03villager a new profession . Please just
14:05don't be irritated by that . After our
14:08friend had taken a good look at his new
14:10home , he finally decided to stay . We
14:13locked him in . Yes , nice . Oh my god . Oh
14:16, take a deep breath . Yeah , we'll just
14:18close up the place for now so the guy

17:56pretty much non-existent , but the
17:58thought wouldn't leave me , and that
18:00meant the cobble generator had to wait .
18:03So I dropped everything and tried the
18:06bastion again on day 35 . Well , look at
18:09that . There’s fortress number two
18:11that we’ve found . We can definitely
18:13loot that one too . Oh , a double chest .

19:52But hey , if it works , it's not wrong .
19:55And in no time I was at the first chest
19:57. You notice I'm playing this in
19:59ultimate caution mode again . I think if
20:00you're playing hardcore , this is just
20:02an incredible amount of iron and a
20:04golden apple . Ah , we have so much iron
20:06and I think now we can finally make an
20:08iron pickaxe with a clear conscience .

20:17luck can you have that we pull a golden

21:45wish the spawn rates for fortresses and
21:47Bastions were swapped here . Seriously ,
21:49but sometimes it helps to just complain
21:52and not give up , because on day 39 I
21:55spotted a dark block on the horizon .

22:07especially happy was that this turned
22:10out to be a Treasure Bastion , because

22:20safer than if I had just run in

24:18progress in the Overworld , specifically

51:14really , really beautiful . We didn't die
51:16a single time . That makes me really ,
51:17really proud and gives me courage for
51:19the 100 days in the Nether in Minecraft
51:20Hardcore . Even though that's obviously
51:22more difficult , I'm aware of that . If
