0:05Hit the top. Hit the top.
0:08So, you have put out this clip from
0:10Smack not too long ago where it's asking
0:12like, "Who do you want to see come back
0:14into battle rap into the arena, right?"
0:17>> Yeah.
0:17Is that something
0:19you've ever really considered, you're
0:22considering now, you know what I mean?
0:24It's just an interesting conversation
0:26for you.
0:27>> an interesting conversation. It's just
0:28to see people's response cuz I would
0:30never ever ever ever go back, ever. I
0:33don't want to battle.
0:35I hate it. I would hate the pressure. I
0:38would I would feel bad if anybody said
0:40anything about my wife cuz if I'm just
0:43going to be sneaky and wait till they
0:45not looking and I'm knocking teeth out.
0:47It's not going to happen. I'm not going
0:49to put myself in in a place where I'm
0:52under that temptation. Um these dudes
0:54disrespect each other then go off and
0:56have a drink afterwards. I come from a
0:59different era, bro. just like, "Nah, I'm
1:01good." Uh you know, we could be friends
1:03in real life. I don't want to battle you
1:05and then act like we cool. So, um nah,
1:08I'm not interested in battling. I will
1:10never go back to battle rap, bro. Unless
1:12they got a stupid big bag. That's not
1:15Well, how do you feel about Christian
1:17rappers in general in the battle rap
1:19space?
1:19>> Oh, they my mans. I don't I don't mind.
1:22I just think that
1:24I there's a concern that I think if you
1:27were in in that environment all day, you
1:30are the company you keep, you know what
1:31I'm saying? Just like you said earlier.
1:33So, it's like um
1:36I'd be concerned for them like, "Yo,
1:37Aubrey, be careful out there cuz you
1:40around all of this stuff all day." It's
1:42like, "Yo, it might just
1:46you know, have some influence on you. Um
1:48but
1:49as of right now, I think they doing they
1:51thing. A-Ward is like what, a top five
1:53battle rapper right now? Yo, he killing
1:55it. He he up there. Yeah, yeah.
1:57I think they did a list recently. He was
1:59three on that joint. So, it's like yo,
2:02they killing it. I love them dudes. I
2:04hope they keep killing it. I just hope
2:05they stay in firm. That's it. Not that I
2:07think they're not. It's just, you know,
2:09it's dangerous on them streets. How
2:11often do you get like, you know,
2:13somebody reaching out to you being like,
2:15"Come on, man. Come back into the battle
2:16rap space." And All the time. All the
2:19time. All the time, bro. Somebody asking
2:23me. And it's just like, "Yo, they they
2:25had to be outside cuz you not watching
2:27my those two stupid battles I got on
2:30YouTube and you asking me to come back."
2:31Them joints was wack. You watch them and
2:33be like,
2:34>> [laughter]
2:34>> "Man, keep that dude over there." But if
2:36if you was outside when I was outside
2:38and you be like, "Yo, he was something."
2:41He was something. Right.
2:42>> Yeah.
2:45All right, man. Um
2:47there was a situation
2:49where a former friend of yours released
2:52a diss record, right?
2:55What happened with this situation? We
2:57ain't got to say his name.
2:59Yeah, yeah. Um bro, I think honestly,
3:04man, bro is having a religious
3:06psychosis. I don't think he's well
3:09mentally.
3:10Um
3:11I poured into brother the dude the
3:13brother helped him grow.
3:15Um and just he just got weird. So, and
3:17it's just like a mental issue. I don't
3:19know what it is. Um
3:22Yeah, and he's just
3:24for whatever reason, bro, he separated
3:27himself from everybody and
3:29and decided to
3:31like rebuke me on a record. So, it's not
3:34so much like a diss. A diss is just
3:35like, "Yo, you stupid. You ugly. You
3:37broke. You" He he's like
3:40like trying to bring spiritual matters
3:42like if I'm off. And it's just
3:45it hurt because it's somebody that I
3:46loved. I still love the brother, but
3:48he's just not well. So, you know, you
3:50can't It's like incoherent, bro. It's
3:53incoherent.
3:54I'm glad that you said that that that
3:56you admitted that that it hurt because
3:58like obviously, you guys had worked
4:00together. He was potentially going going
4:03to be the next one to sign to the label,
4:05right? And it was like
4:09it was a real friendship. Absolutely.
4:12>> You know what I'm saying? Right? So,
4:13it's like it was a betrayal. Like I'm
4:15sure you were blindsided when you you
4:18heard the the song come out. You were
4:20just like, "What the heck is this?"
4:21Right? Cuz you responded on No Love and
4:24you rapped, "I even lost a friendship I
4:26thought would stand the test of time.
4:28Matter of fact, this man was next in
4:30line to rep and sign with Menace
4:32Movement, but he changed and thought
4:34it's best we just divide. Inside, I
4:36questioned why we never talked to
4:38rectify or reconcile. Instead, he let a
4:41couple diss records fly." Now, if I
4:43sinned because sometimes I do make
4:45mistakes, why wouldn't he just call me
4:47on the phone and state his case? I think
4:50it was really important that you said
4:51this because it showed the shift in the
4:54culture of how we used to resolve issues
4:58by face-to-face interaction or at least
5:01Yo, let me get him on the line. You know
5:02what I mean? [clears throat] Like this
5:04is my mans. I got a problem. Like, "Yo,
5:06you made me feel this type of way." or
5:07something like that. You know? But now
5:10the culture is like so common where like
5:13see people will sneak diss to put on
5:14their stories and like it it's it's
5:16crazy. Like why wouldn't you contact
5:19that person directly? And and I feel
5:21like the culture has normalized it like,
5:24"Oh, if you dissed something, it's okay
5:26for your man to go put it on on social
5:28media and put you on blast." So, it's
5:30okay to throw this friendship away and
5:32let public consumption rather than talk
5:35to you like a man and say, "This is how
5:37I really feel." Yeah, so the last time I
5:40heard from him was him trying to
5:43call me on something.
5:45And
5:46I made a good point. Like he was just
5:48like, "Yo, I think that you doing this
5:50and this and this is off."
5:52And I asked him some questions and I was
5:54just like, "Yo, so how is that off?" And
5:56he was like, "Oh, you know what? You're
5:57right. You're right. Okay. I apologize."
6:00Never hear from him again. The next time
6:03I hear from him
6:04is it's a rebuke on record where he's
6:08addressing me for the very same thing
6:10that
6:11he [snorts] we had a conversation about.
6:14And then other things. So, it's like,
6:16"Yo, you already said
6:18by your own admission that you were
6:20wrong and I was right. And then you're
6:22calling me out for a bunch of other
6:24stuff that you didn't give me a call to
6:27talk about." What what hurt the most was
6:30um I had reached out to him a couple
6:32times and he left me on read.
6:36So, I don't go chasing cats and
6:38whatever. He don't want to talk, he
6:39don't want to talk.
6:40The next
6:41>> This was after the diss record?
6:42>> No, this is before. So, then now
6:44>> Okay. I get tagged. This is after we
6:46spoke the last time. I get tagged in a
6:49post on his Facebook
6:51and I see it's connected to a video. So,
6:55I'm thinking
6:57like, "Yo, he's tagging his brother. I'm
6:59excited to hear some new music." I
7:02literally was like, "Oh, snap." Like
7:05this this I took it as, "Okay, a bridge
7:07for us to connect again."
7:09And when I play it,
7:13he calling me out by name and all that.
7:15Bro, I was floored. I was like
7:18I was floored. I said, "Yo, I can't
7:20believe this." And it just came at the
7:22wrong time. At the time I was going
7:23through mad health stuff. My blood
7:25pressure was at deadly levels and now I
7:27got this. So, I was just like, "Man,
7:29this sucks, bro." Um it it it does
7:32>> Were you even mad or just hurt?
7:34>> I was hurt, bro. Um I was hurt.
7:38And at the time I didn't have the
7:40information that I have now. And and
7:43nobody told me anything about him. Just
7:46from observation, I'm like, "Oh,
7:48he's not well. He's not well. Something
7:52It's like a religious psychosis that's
7:54going on." I didn't know that. I had to
7:57after the freaking six diss tracks and
8:00watching how he moves, I'm like,
8:02"Something He's off." So, but I'm just
8:05thinking it's my good old friend that I
8:07always knew.
8:08So, if I would have known he was having
8:10that religious psychosis, bro,
8:12I'd have been like, "Yeah,
8:14whatever. I'm praying for bro cuz, you
8:16know, he's not well."
8:19How long were you guys cool before that
8:21situation happened?
8:22>> Dude, over 10 years for sure. So, a
8:24decade worth of friendship thrown over
8:26thrown away.
8:27>> Yo, I I would say I've known him for
8:31about 20 years.
8:34I I would say we've been like best
8:36friend type cool for like probably over
8:3910.
8:41Wow.
8:41>> For sure.
8:43For sure. I'm talking about like every
8:45day chopping it up. Like that's my that
8:47was my brother. So, I mean, I made my
8:50label, bro,
8:52to sign him and this other dude. Like I
8:54had them in mind. I signed one and
8:57and it never happened with him. And I
8:59could see why. And I was like, "I'm
9:00thankful that it never happened."
9:03Can I mean
9:06how much do you hold him accountable for
9:09what he does versus now being like, "You
9:13know what? He's just not well, so I
9:15excuse that behavior."
9:19Ah I I feel like the normal him
9:22wouldn't have did this. He would have
9:24gave me a call.
9:26Um
9:27as a matter of fact, I could remember
9:29specific times. I think bro truly has a
9:32PTSD.
9:34Where
9:35he thought I was just crazy. It sounds
9:38like craziness even when I think about
9:40it. Where just one one time he was
9:42hyping me.
9:43And I had another person hyping me at
9:45the same time. So, he my man was there
9:49to do his verse on my song.
9:51My man is a diesel grizzly bear
9:54looking dude. My other man, it you know,
9:57the one I'm not beefing with, is little
9:59small dude.
10:01We walk off the stage. So, anyways, let
10:04me back pedal.
10:05Bro who dissed me
10:07it
10:08thought Oh, he messed up his verse on
10:10stage.
10:11So, now when we all get off, my man
10:14tells me the the short dude and he like,
10:16"Yo, man, the sound system sucked." And
10:18I said, "Yeah, man, that joint was
10:19trash."
10:20Big bro is behind me.
10:23He hits me the next day and he like,
10:26"Yo, bro,
10:28I felt some type of way." And I'm like,
10:29"What happened?" He like, "Yo, I saw you
10:31and and Lionel, you know, y'all was
10:34mocking me for for um for messing up."
10:36I'm like,
10:37"What? Like, bro, we didn't even say
10:40nothing. We was talking about the
10:41system." First of all, my man, little
10:44bro, like is a pastor. Like, yo, he not
10:47signing you like twice his size. He
10:48ain't got balls that big. You freaking
10:50earth slam him. Like, but that's just my
10:53my thought. I'm like, "Yo, son, nobody
10:55was talking about you." So,
10:57he got like a PTSD.
10:59But at least he confronted me.
11:01Yo, moving on, I I I really believe, and
11:05this going to sound cocky, that I'm on.
11:07I just feel like um
11:10he knew that sometimes he would feel
11:12self-conscious when he would try to
11:13voice his gripes and I'm I'm
11:15articulating myself.
11:17He just want to to avoid feeling wrong
11:20cuz I you know, I'm not talking talk
11:22talk some sense into him. I think it's
11:24just he didn't want to fire and he's
11:27just like, "Yo, I'm going to fire off
11:29and voice what I I I believe to be
11:31true." And he's not
11:33it really stems from some sort of mental
11:35joint, bro.
11:37Is there any possibility of
11:39reconciliation?
11:40I mean, it it'll never be the same. I
11:43mean, you need to There's levels to
11:46this. You need to
11:48be able to
11:51see what you were going through, admit
11:54it, acknowledge it. Like, "Yo, I wasn't
11:56well." I know somebody who went through
11:58a religious psychosis and bounced back.
12:00And they say, "Yo, I wasn't well. I was
12:03tripping." So, if
12:05>> What exactly is that that you're
12:06referring to, a religious psychosis?
12:08Bro, I'm
12:09It's like
12:11I can't even, bro. It's like some
12:13psychotic
12:15like
12:16I one person out I'm scared to say it
12:19cuz then they'll know I'm talking about
12:20them. Like, yo, they'll see things that
12:22aren't there. They'll they'll They're
12:24the But it's only pertaining to religion
12:27specifically, it's based in religion?
12:29>> because they were already
12:31believers. And then it's just now it's
12:33like, "Oh, Jesus came to me in my
12:35dream." And I mean, not even my dream,
12:37he came to me while I was like it's just
12:39stuff that just don't make sense. Oh, uh
12:41they'll be looking at the sky, it'll be
12:43a plane and you'll be like, "Those are
12:44chariots of fire." Like, it's just how?
12:47You're not You're hallucinating. You're
12:50seeing things. I I think with him,
12:54I don't know the depths of it, but I
12:56just know that he's not the same person.
12:58And he's pushed everybody away. He's
13:01always right, everyone's wrong. And when
13:03he speaks, it sounds weird. It doesn't
13:06sound like Christianity. It sounds like,
13:08"Yo, where you getting this from, son?"
13:11So, I think he's having a a mental
13:14breakdown and he's been through a lot in
13:15his life and trauma can really cause
13:18that. The mind is fragile and the mind
13:21can crack. And you know, he's already
13:24been a a Christian, so that's why, you
13:26know, he I don't know. He just don't
13:28sound well, bro. That's a really
13:30unfortunate situation, bro. I'm sorry to
13:32hear that, man.
13:32>> Yeah, I love him. I'mma pray for him,
13:34bro.
13:36Yeah.
