0:00A secret society of billionaires,
0:01politicians, tech execs, and podcast
0:03bros co-founded by Palantir's Peter
0:04Thiel just got exposed. And what's
0:06shocking, how it got exposed is kind of
0:08hilarious. Well, to the group is called
0:10Dialogue. It was co-founded in 2006 with
0:12data broker Oren Hoffman. It's
0:13invitation only. It's supposed to be
0:14strictly off the record. They kept their
0:16member list hidden for 20 years. But
0:17then, a Swiss hacktivist, the same one
0:19who exposed the US government's no-fly
0:20list, got tipped off about a flaw in
0:22Dialogue's website. He reportedly could
0:23just read the HTML code and find a
0:25directory of 113 names. Within a
0:27separate source giving Wired the full
0:28222-person registration list for this
0:30year's retreat scheduled for August in
0:31Dublin, Ireland. As far as who's on the
0:33list, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent,
0:35Jared Kushner, Elon Musk, Senator Ted
0:37Cruz, Senator Cory Booker, Maryland
0:38Governor Wes Moore, Palantir co-founder
0:40Joe Lonsdale, the Army Secretary, the
0:42NATO Supreme Allied Commander of Europe,
0:44the CEO of YouTube, the CEO of the
0:46Anti-Defamation League, plus tech execs,
0:48podcasters like Sam Harris, actors like
0:50Joseph Gordon-Levitt. And the fun panel
0:52topics for this year's retreat
0:53reportedly include navigating World War
0:55III, battlefield technology, money does
0:57buy happiness, and quote, "Build a
0:59cult." There's then also reportedly a
1:00matchmaking service on its own domain.
1:03So, you have this weird mishmash of
1:04titans of industries and then
1:05politicians who are often supposed to
1:07regulate those industries. And all these
1:09people that either have power, money, or
1:11the ability to craft narratives that
1:13then people follow. And so, among the
1:14number of potential problems here, you
1:16have things like, for example, Oren
1:17Hoffman, right? Dialogue's chairman made
1:18his fortune building two of the biggest
1:20data brokers in the country. Well,
1:21according to Wired, he's a member
1:22alongside Scott Bessent, who as Treasury
1:24Secretary regulates that industry.
1:26Right? And Ted Cruz, who chairs the
1:27Senate committee that oversees the FTC.
1:29And you've got Palantir's Lonsdale,
1:30whose company has contracts running Ice
1:32software and Pentagon data systems,
1:34sitting on the same list as the
1:35Secretary of the Army and the top
1:36Democrat on the House Intelligence
1:37Committee. All right, the committee that
1:38oversees agencies that Palantir does
1:40business with. And reportedly, every
1:42single one of them registered with
1:43personal or corporate emails, not
1:45government emails. All right, which is
1:46what keeps the whole thing out of public
1:47records. So, you've got regulators and
1:49the regulated meeting privately, off the
1:51record, with no transcripts. Oh, and
1:52just for fun, reportedly, Jeffrey
1:54Epstein was on the invitation list for
1:55the 2014 retreat. So, yeah, it might be
1:57time for a number of us to apologize to
1:58our conspiracy theorist friend.
