0:00Have you ever applied to a college as a
0:01joke and just got accepted? So, my
0:03friends and I are messing around during
0:04lunch talking about backup plans for
0:06after graduation. Someone jokes, "Bro,
0:07you should apply to that fancy college
0:09across the country. They'd reject you
0:10before you finish typing your name."
0:11Challenge accepted. I fill out the
0:13application in the most unserious way
0:14possible. Major? I pick medieval whistle
0:16studies. Activities? Accidental group
0:18leader. Essay? I wrote about how I once
0:19ate a granola bar that wasn't mine and
0:21learned community responsibility. We
0:22laugh, we move on, I forget about it.
0:24Two months later, I get an email.
0:25"Congratulations." I think it's spam.
0:27Then I open it. Bro, they actually
0:28accepted me. They even added a note
0:30saying my essay was refreshingly honest
0:31and my major choice showed courage in
0:33exploring unique academics. My mom
0:34screams. My dad starts googling the
0:36campus. I'm sitting there sweating
0:37because I'm about to be the first person
0:38in history to major in medieval
0:39whistling. My friends lose their minds.
0:41"No way they want you. I refuse to live
0:42in a world where this is real. Teach me
0:44your ways, chosen one." A week later,
0:45they send me a scholarship offer. A
0:46scholarship for a joke. I had to call
0:48and explain the situation, but the lady
0:50on the phone goes, "Well, if you ever
0:51want to explore your unique academic
0:53passions, the door is open." So, yeah, I
0:54applied as a joke and at this point, I
0:56think I'm legally obligated to become
0:57professor
