0:00In today's video, we found some Saxs and bodies just out there in that bit of high ground. Saxon bodies there. And >> I don't think we're supposed to be here, guys. >> Artwork. So, you know, and then obviously >> it's a little bit different to uh to different towns. >> Is that what we sleep in here? >> Yeah, we sleep in it. It's all modern

0:19stuff inside. So, keep that close. Not >> filming in the gallery. Okay. For some reason, when you go to these shops, they don't really like your recording in there. Hello everyone. We in Glasterby today in Somerset, uh, one of the most famous towns uh, for Kings are for legend. Uh,

0:40very different, very spiritual. We got your, um, Abby in here, which we are going to explore. Uh, and this is where a lot of history and legends around the town begin. Glastenbury Abby in Somerset is one of England's most famous medieval monastic sites. Saxon origins. A Christian community existed here by the 7th

1:00century and the monastery grew considerably under Abbott Dunston in the 10th century. By the time of the Norman conquest, it was one of the wealthiest monasteries in England. In 1184, a major fire destroyed much of the abbey. It was rebuilt on a grand scale, including the impressive Lady Chapel and later the enormous abbey church.

1:21Going through the reception, uh there's event happening in Glastonbury. Um you have to pay £15 if you just uh come in without any bookings. Online I think is a little bit cheaper, like £14. Um so let's go and explore around. Right in front of you can see Lady

1:41Chapel >> 20th century but what they did to kind of preserve the integrity of the building. >> But it's just a beautiful old place. It looks phenomenal actually. >> Yeah. Well, it it was built on something much much older. Yeah. Um there was they found some Saxon bodies just out there in that bit of high ground. Saxon bodies

1:58there and I think there's some clay over the top and then medievals were building stuff here. >> Okay. >> But the whole Arthur story really fascinated the medievals and they made a much bigger thing of it than it probably actually was. >> Right. >> They w all these different like the round table and um mythical beasts and

2:13wave and stuff got woven in much much later. But uh there was some sort of active war leader in this area, but what they were called, we don't know. But okay, who cares? It's a lovely story. >> It is. Yeah. It looks phenomenal. >> But I think Churchill said it in the history of the English speaking people.

2:27Churchill said about King Arthur. He said, "Even if he didn't exist, he damn well should have done." >> Yeah. So what do you think some people believe that he didn't exist? >> Oh yeah. Quite a lot of academics and scholars will will subscribe to the fact there probably wasn't an It's a bit like the Robin Hood legend. There were

2:40probably four or five people robbing people at a time and someone might have given something away and you get this legend built up. >> Yeah. But it's uh it's the accuracy of things. I remember um in during the Blair years, John Prescott was deputy prime minister and there was um someone threw an egg at him. Uh someone threw an

2:57egg at John Prescott and it hit him in the face and he punched the guy. The next day in the papers, half the papers are saying, "What a thug." >> The other half was saying, "What a hero." >> Yeah. Of course. >> Now, I'm not making any political point, but just imagine only one of those papers survives thousand years. You've

3:10only got one point of view. >> Yeah. Exactly. >> And that was 24 hours after the event happened. >> Yeah. So yeah, it's uh with history you only sometimes you only get one side. >> Exactly. >> And sometimes the archaeology backs it up and sometimes the archae the archaeology says no nothing happened here. So yeah, >> nobody knows how it was. It was so many

3:26years ago it was unreal. >> And sometimes battle battle sites are meant to be in a certain place. >> Yeah. >> And the archaeologist will say no actually um about about a mile over there probably, but this is a suitable site that everybody visits as the battle site. But no, it's probably mostly over there. and battles were scattered over a

3:43large area anyway and you don't get a lot lot of archaeology from battles. you get um the odd horseshoe, the odd arrow head and stuff like that. But you know um so you you have chronicles people are writing but very often they're biased. So >> it's like any as I said even recent history has a bias. So who do you

4:00believe? >> Yeah, of course. Absolutely. Well, thank you very much for that. >> Thank you. Have a good one. Take care. >> Right. Let's have a look in here. >> Are you all right? I was actually going to go and talk to you, but you was busy earlier. >> Um, hope you don't mind me just record. I'm just going to put my own content

4:19ready. >> Okay. Yeah. >> It's a little bit different to uh to different towns. >> So that's our group was invited here. We have done this art tale today. So we had there in a show uh was earlier this morning and now we have a little bit living history telling you a little bit

4:39late Roman history and artan history. So that's that that's kind of gave us this event brought us here in Glastonbury. >> Yeah, >> there's a lot of history in Glastonbury as you see this Glastonbury Abby here. So there's a lot of history. So that's why we chose the Glastenbury. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Of course. It's a little bit different town to like the

4:58rest of the different British towns. >> It is. It is. It's a very different. It's a whole atmosphere. Even if you go into the town, it's very different than the others. So yes, you I I personally this is probably my sixth or seventh time in Dustin. I love it. >> Oh, you don't live in here? Yeah. I

5:12don't live here. I live in London. >> Oh, you live in London. Wow. So, I don't I don't live in Glastonbury, but I love to come here every time because I I think it is very unique place. I >> agree. Yes. Yeah. >> Why you why you keep coming back? I know you say you like it, but what's what's

5:25kind of takes you back in here? >> Yeah. Obviously, it's a history. You do come here like different festivals and history festival. It's it's the history, but when you walk in there on the on the town, it's it's >> it's very spiritual as well. It's it's very different. Yeah, >> it's very different. I think it's a difference if comparing somewhere like

5:43London or somewhere else. >> Yeah, absolutely. >> I think it's a difference. >> I don't think you got any towns like this in the UK like this class in my personal opinion. Neither do I come across. Yeah. No. No. I have been in 16 years in and I haven't come across >> it. It is very different. But it's very

5:58nice. It's something very unique. Very unique. I'm just going to put that way. Like it same as me. I I think if you like it or hate it, I think. >> Yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. It's either you're going to adapt to it or not. So >> Exactly. Absolutely. Because people still dress like I've seen a lot of people actually who live in here. They

6:11still dress as they used to dress like so many years ago. >> They are they they are and you can see like I don't know if it's a vegan because I usually come here obviously weekends because I'm working and you can see like the very very different kind of costumes here. If you look the shops there there's a lot of like this kind of

6:28tarot and like you said very spiritual. >> Very spiritual. Yeah. Absolutely. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Okay. Well, thank you very much for that. That's much appreciated. Thank you for that. >> Thank you. Have a good day. Have a good one. Enjoy today. Yeah, take care. Enjoy Glastonbury. >> Yeah, we'll do. Thank you. >> Thank you.

6:49>> See what they doing here. Hey, mate. >> Hello. >> What are we doing here? >> Just going to hide, drink, but no, I didn't say that. >> Is that where you sleep in here? >> Yeah, we sleep in it. It's all modern stuff inside though, so we keep that closed. >> Well, just for the weekends. >> Yeah. Yeah, we'll do some events where

7:07uh we'll be in um plastic the normal tents and stuff on the site, but yeah, a lot of the events we do will sleep under this. >> Oh wow. >> So, all of these are used by people in the night. >> Oh, nice. >> Quick look, but it is a mess because don't worry about it. >> Ah, so you got modern stuff.

7:23>> So, we hide it away. >> You should have all the traditional old school stuff. >> That's what I'm trying to do is I'm I'm collecting stuff over time so that I can then have my tent open on >> Nice. Okay, fair enough. >> Time. >> Oh, wow. That is very interesting. Let's have a look what they did in here.

7:39>> Afternoon. >> Hello. >> Hello. >> So, we are about to start cooking the cheese thighs. >> Oh, nice. >> Um, so it's just flour, water, cheese, and spring onions. Okay. >> In this. And then Chris is just heating up the pan and melting the butter. And then we'll be frying these. >> Brilliant. What time can we join you?

7:59>> This show, but sometimes we do do food for the public. >> Oh, okay. Lovely. Is that what we used to cook it on back in days? >> It's very traditional. >> It is. It is one of the things that people would have eaten. >> Oh wow. >> So it it's basically it's a simple cheese flatbread. >> Okay.

8:15>> Um you can add whatever extras you've got. >> Right. How much money are we to give it behind the scenes? >> But yeah, it's it's simple recipe. >> You can add whatever you want to. If you don't like certain things, take them out. You just make up your dough. >> Yeah. >> Portion. Oh wow. >> And then

8:32>> um And then yeah, you just fry them off. >> Then in we've also got a vegetable soup >> in the little cauldron that you can see. >> And then in the fire we have the another cauldron which has got the gammon cooked in cider and spice uh like sage and a few other >> wish we could try that really. We would

8:53rate her whether that's actually good or not. >> Let's have a look what he's doing in here. Yeah. So, and you can only cut when you press down. >> Yeah. >> So, there's two revolutions and back two revolutions.

9:14>> Hence the reason it takes so long and then once it's done, it's not it won't be finished for at least 3 months after until cuz you did you turn green wood on here. So, that's the reason it's so wet. And uh

9:34>> three months, >> this will go home into a bag full of uh damp shavings. And then I'll take it out two, three times a week, dry it off, put it back in the shavings until it's actually stabilized, and then I can actually see about, you know, finishing it off completely. >> Looks like a long process, this one.

9:56Not like now. So much easier with all this machinery that we got in in there in modern days. So bit of a difference to what it used to be. >> Oh, let's have a look. We'll do it in here. >> Angelo sucks on Abby. >> Right.

10:20>> Is that heavy or not? >> Oh, yeah. >> Is actually my male boy weighs more than >> Yeah. I've got a smaller body. You see, my male is a little bit lighter. >> You're fighting as well today then? >> Yeah. >> To be made bigger at the start of this year. >> So now battle

10:42trying a bit of a mess. >> Sorry. We'll cut it. We'll cut it down. Don't worry about it. >> All right. Thank you. Is that actually real or not? >> No, that's a blunt one. >> We got Yeah, we got blunt ones. We We fight with those ones.

11:04>> They are. Um, >> are they heavy or not? Can I have a look? >> Yeah, have a look. >> Oh, nice. >> They hold them, I think. >> This one's probably a bit heavier than it might have been. >> It's actually quite heavy to be fair. >> It's not that light. >> A lot of the weight.

11:17>> Thank you. >> One at a time. >> Cuz what they used to have like back in the day used to be a lot heavier. Or was it just like kind of the same weight? Back in the day that would be lighter. >> Oh, okay. Would be lighter than this. >> Oh, wow. >> We we train with heavier ones. Um

11:29>> back in the day it would have been plked whereas this is plywood. >> Um we like to kind of keep using the same shield over and over again make a new one every week. So historically they would have been plked and sign of was an island >> and that was >> thinking about it like wearing all this

11:49armor. That's probably quite heavy. >> So for your neck as well, your shoulders. >> Yeah. Yeah, I could imagine. Chain chain shirt. It's a lot of weight on your shoulders. But once you belt it over your waist, it's not too bad. >> Yeah. Yeah. Very interesting. >> To be fair, thinking like you had to wear all this gear must be very heavy.

12:08Doing this for all day. Not easy job, is it? I would assume they're probably all fit guys fighting back in the days. So yeah, kids, back in the day, you didn't have your iPads and stuff. So if you're watching, look, you should appreciate what you got now. >> You had to do a lot of uh >> any

12:29uh a lot of things yourself really. Look, there was no your modern technology, your machinery and stuff. You had to literally craft everything with your hands. All these all the weapons, all the furniture. Long process really as well. So uh >> like we just went to see this guy over there uh about this wooden things he was

12:49making a 3 month process really long time. >> Hello. >> You all right? >> Hello. Yes. >> Looking what we got in here. >> Uh unfortunately some of it is already blown down in the room. >> Oh really? >> We must we should have had an awning and that one should be open. So the barber

13:10surgeon is manfully carrying on. >> Yeah. We had cooking yesterday. >> You're not cooking today. Everybody else is doing cooking. >> I know. So >> Oh, nice. Is that a real weapon? >> Yes. >> Really? >> Absolutely. >> Oh, wow. >> It's um dog lock basket.

13:33>> Okay. >> A um this is what they call the dog lock. So it's a safety catch. You put it on, it means it can't go off unexpectedly. >> Of course, there's a good value of safety there. >> Yeah. And the firing mechanism is this flint here. So your powder will go into that pan. Small amount of powder. And

13:49there's a small coil there. >> So small amount of powder in there. >> Oh, just a little bit of that. Oh, it's tiny. >> That's a priming there. >> And then the main shot big main shot goes to your mus and wing >> and it's all in. >> So this one is then ready to fire. So,

14:10it's just a case of pulling it back onto full [ __ ] as we call it. >> Yeah. >> Pulling the trigger that flies forward, hits the frozen, >> pushes that forward, causing a spark. >> Mhm. >> Spark ignites that that connects the powder.

14:43All right, that was very interesting. Now, let's explore uh town a little bit. >> So, yeah, you got this guy doing some uh doing some drawing over here. >> Uh what we got to do, guys? We're going to go um up the street and go into some shops. Just uh look at this one here. Even if you look at the display, so much

15:03different. Most of the shops in Glastonbury literally like uh got displays like this. But yeah, let's uh let's go inside and see what they sell. >> Please don't film in the gallery. >> We're not allowed, are we?

15:23>> Not filming in the gallery. >> Okay, no problem. >> Don't like filming in here. So, we need to go somewhere else. Yeah, he wasn't happy about us recording in there. So, uh we're l going to go up

15:44because I see this guy. They got this exhibition for two days uh which is my birth my voice. So, we're going to do a quick uh >> quick interview and we're going to explore in the galleries. >> Okay. So, so today we an exhibition um going um it's called my birth my voice.

16:04Uh it's a multimedia exhibition where it is bringing um birth trauma um postpartum loss, motherhood to um basically give mothers a voice and a choice at their birth time um which is being lost um through um through the NHS

16:25um where mothers don't get that to the choice at at the time of birth. Right guys, that was very interesting. So let's uh let's have a look. We're going to explore inside and and find out a little bit more. Are you right? >> Can we just explore around?

16:46>> If you want to take some contact, love you if you tagged us. >> Yeah, of course. Yeah, 100%. Thank you. >> Oh, that way. Thank you. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Appreciate it. Thank you. So yeah guys I just uh as you just walk inside there's loads of pictures and stuff. Uh the purpose actually of this

17:06to let women tell experience that often is not spoken about and there has been so many cases where mother has killed her own baby. Here you can seek some advice and talk to uh talk to a professional where support might be required.

17:38We're going to explore some shops in here. Um, I'm going to go inside and have a look. Got this one here. All right, we're going to choose this one. We got open. Let's have a look. Hello. Yeah. You

17:58>> like for me to record just for my own content? Yeah. >> Nice. Thank you. >> Just exploring around the shops a little bit to be honest. >> Have you got any spiritual things in here? >> Just out of interest. Just want to kind of see something. >> Depends what you call spiritual cuz everything is a little bit spiritual in

18:16Glastonbury. >> Oh no. It's very different. Guys, we got to pause the video here for a second and I will be very completely honest with you. That moment when I actually stopped and I was thinking, do you know what? I didn't realize this is like a sex shop. So, literally when I was in that interview with this woman

18:33and showing me some spiritual things, I didn't realize what they actually do in this shop. Looking around, I was like, and the thing she was telling me, I was like, "Yes, I've messed up. This is what is going to go wrong." Now >> the theme of the shop here is love and divine sexuality. >> Yeah. >> So you know so even though the items in

18:56themselves are normal, they will always have that theme in here. So we've got books, we've got oracle cards, we've got journals, then you've got massage oils, artwork. So you know and then obviously people do what they want with it. So >> yeah, of course. >> Yeah. I'll have a I'll have a quick wander then. Well, thanks for that

19:14anyway.

19:42Right, that was a bit of an experience. That was uh very spiritual, but in a sexual way to be honest with you, I didn't didn't understand till I actually look at those items. Uh I took the videos of these and there's loads of like sexual spiritual um like oils and things. So, and I said to this lady, I says, "Do you want to

20:02show me what you got?" She goes, "Oh, I don't want to be seen on the camera, BUT UM probably she just didn't want to explain about these uh these oils." But yeah, that was a that was a good

20:23experience. That was something different. You got so many unique shops in here. Uh you don't actually see these shops in in a different town. There's another shop in here. Let's have a look. What they doing here? >> Ah, it's all your aroma ones like your aroma oils.

21:00>> Yeah. Yeah. Loads of aroma oils, loads of uh loads of herbs. Smells good in here. Very different. Very different. Yeah. Basically, you got all of these shops like this at Glastenbury.

21:20Um very unique. >> You don't see this uh in different towns for sure.

21:46What's interesting about Glastonbury as well, uh, when you're walking like up the streets and stuff, you get a lot of people like they dress differently like they like they used to like like it's very different you see >> uh very very spiritual honestly like if

22:07you haven't been in here >> definitely you need to experience this >> like as an example all of these shops look you get a lot of shops like this >> for some reason when you go to these shops they don't really like your

22:27recording in there. So, uh only done like a couple videos where we were just uh able to kind of uh go and record because um yeah, they just don't like it. So, uh but yeah, uh very interesting, very interesting town. Definitely worth an experience, guys. If you haven't been here, you need to come and visit.

22:48Walk around. You got all these unique shops and uh definitely worth uh worth visiting. What's that in here? Oh, that's a bookshop. But yeah, all of these shops. Look, you got all of these shops. Um

23:11Um All right, I think time time to get uh something to eat, guys. So, we're just going to have a look and see what they got inside. shop.

23:37>> Should have a look what's upstairs. >> I think it's a table. >> Let's have a look. Let the lady pass. Maybe

23:59not. >> Um, >> I'm not sure. >> I'm not quite sure what we are. >> I'm going to go have a look. Anyway, let's see. >> Not too sure what's in here. >> I was thinking that's a restaurant in here or something. >> Oh, that's a hotel. >> Oh, wow. Guys, this is different. I actually don't know where I am.

24:23Oh wow, this is crazy. It's all private. I think it's hotel. I'm not really sure. >> Oh, wow. I don't think we're supposed to be here, guys. >> To come up here. >> Is this a hotel? >> Yes, it is. >> Oh, right. Sorry. >> Yeah, you have to ask. >> Not sure if we're supposed to be here,

24:41but I just literally took the stairs because I was thinking there's a restaurant upstairs. >> No, no, it's just private. >> Ah. Oh, okay. Thank you. >> If you don't mind. >> Yeah, of course. Yeah, thank you. There we go. Been told off. Doesn't say anything on the um downstairs, so I would never assume that was uh that was a hotel. So, you can

25:04literally uh book a stay in here. Unfortunately, guys, we was not able to eat at this restaurant because um it was fully booked. Um there was literally no table available and the restaurants was quite tiny anyway. There was like literally two or three tables in there. So uh we was unable to get to get any

25:24food unfortunately. Right guys, so that is Glastonbury. Um I came to this town really not knowing what to expect. Uh very unusual, very different to your uh different towns in in Britain, let's call it. Uh with loads of history, very spiritual. Is Glasti actually worth a visit? I think yes. It's uh very unique. If you want some

25:46different experience, uh definitely you should consider visiting this town. Um >> it's actually starting to rain properly, guys. So, uh thanks for watching and I will see you on the next one.
