0:00I got grounded for doing my homework
0:01because I was too quiet. When I was 13,
0:03I was in my room minding my own
0:04business, quietly doing my homework. No
0:06noise, no distractions, just math
0:07problems. Then, out of nowhere, my mom
0:09burst into my room looking suspicious.
0:11She crossed her arms. What are you
0:12doing? Homework? Then why are you so
0:14quiet? I stared at her completely lost.
0:16Because I'm working. She did not buy it.
0:17She started searching my room, checking
0:18under the bed, opening drawers, even
0:20sniffing the air like she was expecting
0:22to catch me hiding something illegal.
0:24She pulled my backpack apart, inspected
0:25my books, and even dug through my
0:27laundry basket like it was hiding some
0:28dark secret. Finally, she stood up and
0:30declared, "I don't trust it. You're
0:31never this quiet. What are you hiding?"
0:33Nothing I said convinced her otherwise.
0:34The more I tried to explain, the
0:36guiltier I apparently looked. She was
0:37convinced I was either covering up a
0:38crime or plotting world domination. So,
0:40she grounded me. I was literally
0:41punished for not causing trouble.
0:42Instead of staying in my own room, I had
0:44to sit in the living room under her
0:45watch. Ironically, this made me way
0:47louder because I kept asking, "Can I go
0:48back to my room now?" I even started
0:50narrating everything out loud just to
0:51prove I wasn't up to anything
0:52suspicious. I'm drinking water now, just
0:54regular non-suspicious water. After 2
0:56days, she finally admitted she didn't
0:57actually think I did anything wrong. She
0:58just missed me.
