0:00Over the many thousands of years since the inhabitants of the Galaxy learned how to utilize
0:03the mysterious energy field known as the force, there have countless different ways force
0:08abilities and techniques created and passed down for generations.
0:11Force abilities were a way for the early force wielders to express themselves with this newfound
0:15power, and pass down their knowledge to the next generation.
0:18So hit that subscribe button and let’s break down every single known force power and Canon
0:21and how it works.
0:23So to start off, Galactic historians and scholars have divided force powers up into three aspects
0:27and two divisions.
0:29The Three aspects were Control powers, which were centred on the ability to control one’s
0:33own mind and body, Sense powers, which focused on immersing the user in the force around
0:37them and understanding the situation surrounding them, and then finally Alter abilities.
0:42These were themed around changing the wielder’s environment and the people they were facing
0:45off against.
0:46And as for the two divisons, those are simply LIght side powers and Dark Side powers.
0:50Although there is still debate about the gray area in the middle.
0:53But either way that leads us onto the first Force Power, **Number 1.
0:56Telekensis**.
0:57(Alter/Control, Grey)
0:58Now this one pretty much covers all of the basic force powers you can think of like force
1:01push, pull, jump, choke and comes under the category of Alter and the Alignment of Grey
1:05because it can be used by both sides.
1:08Almost every force user can use Telekensis, because it’s the most basic and essential
1:11to survival.
1:12Some of the more extreme use cases include force wave/force shockwave which can be used
1:16to topple over many enemies at once, although thats about as complex as it gets in Canon.
1:21**Number 2.
1:22Animal Bond (Alter/Control, Dark/Light)**
1:23Animal Bond comes under the Alter category and is very interesting because it has both
1:27a light and dark side variant.
1:29The Dark Side variant tried to bend the will of the animal and subjugate it in order to
1:34be tamed, while the light side version focused on connecting with and guiding the animal.
1:38Both were equally effective, with the light side variant being used by Obi-Wan on Ryloth,
1:42and Ezra Bridger using the Dark Side Variant on the Fyrnocks at Fort Anaxes…
1:46**Number 3.
1:47Shatterpoint (Sense, Dark/Light)**
1:48Now in legends this ability has a lot more detail behind it, but in Canon, a Shatterpoint
1:52is a deeply complex force phenomenon, almost similar to a fault line, where major events
1:56had happened or were about to happen.
1:58A force user with the Shatterpoint ability could then tap into these and get a glimpse
2:01into the past or future.
2:03The most famous user of this ability was Mace Windu, who used it during the Clone Wars,
2:07but in Canon Darth Sidious also sensed a shatterpoint on board the Shuttle Tydiruium when it landed
2:11on Endor.
2:12Shatterpoint fell under the category of Sense and had both a dark and light alignment.
2:16**Number 4.
2:17Psychommetry (Sense, Light)**
2:18Psychommetry or Force Echo is another force phenomenon which allowed a user to touch significant
2:22or historical objects and give them a view of what happened with them.
2:25When touching one of these signficant objects, the psychommetry user would be temporarily
2:29blinded with white light, before receiving small amounts of information about the event
2:33that took place.
2:34Because of how powerful this ability was, the Jedi Council forbid Jedi from using it
2:37on weapons of combat, fearing that they may be overcome with the swell of the Dark Side
2:41if that weapon was used to kill someone.
2:43The most well known users of this ability were Quinlan Vos and Cal Kestis, and they
2:47both became very skilled in it.
2:48The alignment for this ability is so far only Lightside, and it again falls under Control
2:52**Number 5.
2:53Endure (Control, Light Side)**
2:54Now the Endure ability is really cool because it was invented by a Jedi Master named Crucitorn
2:58at the Battle of Nar Shadda when Dooku was still in the Order.
3:01Maaster Crucitorn was fully burnt alive, with every inch of skin burnt to black, but through
3:06force Endure he was able to block all pain and keep himself alive…
3:09It is unknown how the bantha he survived after that, but Dooku was so inspired by this that
3:13he passed the knowledge on to two of his own Jedi students.
3:16To demonstrate, he placed a torture device on his own chest, and activated it, but felt
3:20no pain…
3:21**Number 6.
3:22Force Illusion (Alter, Unknown)**
3:23We know next to nothing about this one in Canon apart from one small line, which states
3:27that it allowed its user to generate illusions towards other people.
3:30This puts it under the Alter Category, but alignment is currently unknown.
3:33**Number 7.
3:34Force Protection Bubble/ Force Barrier (Alter/Control, Grey)**
3:37This one was aligned neither to the light or dark and could be used for both offensive
3:40and defensive uses.
3:42It allowed its wielder to protect themselves from external threat by putting up a wall
3:45of force energy around them.
3:46We see Grogu use this ability on Tython from the Light side perspective, and then Nightsisters
3:51of Dathomir made heavy use of it from the Dark side perspective.
3:53**Number 8.
3:54Morchiro (Alter, Light Side)**
3:56This is a really fascinating force ability, which allowed it’s wilder to gradually slow
3:59down the vital function of their victim, eventually killing them.
4:02This was an ancient Jedi art and despite being a Light side ability, it was highly forbidden
4:06because of it’s brutality.
4:08Only one Jedi was ever permitted to use it, being Yaddle…
4:11**Number 9.
4:12Precognition (Sense, Grey)**
4:13Precognition, or Third Sight as it was known, was a force ability mainly used by Anakin
4:17Skywalker, to peer into the future and know when an attack was about to come.
4:21Master Sifo-Dyas was also gifted with this ability, but when he used it to predict the
4:24Clone Wars happening, he was immediately expelled form the Jedi Council for being a war monger…
4:29On top of this, many Chiss Females were gifted with this ability, and used it to help in
4:33navigation.
4:34**Number 10.
4:35Mind Trick (Alter, Light/Dark)**
4:36Now the Mind Trick has two different branches just like Animal Bond, with one called Mind
4:39Touch, for Light Siders and one called Mind Control for Dark Siders.
4:43Both of these achieved pretty much the same goal, of altering one’s decision making,
4:47but Mind Touch simply guided them to that point, while Mind Control forced them there…
4:51Personally I don’t see a difference!
4:54**Number 11.
4:56Force Lightning (Alter, Light/Dark)**
4:57Again, Force Lightning has two variants.
4:59The Dark Side variant which swells the dark side of the force, and the Light side variant
5:03known as Electric Judgement which channels it’s wilder’s sense of Justice…
5:06Plo Koon was notable user of this, and blew a guy’s head off because he felt a strong
5:10sense of justice…
5:11**Number 12.
5:12Force Orb (Alter, Light Side)**
5:13The Orb ability is a very unique one, primarily used by Jedi from aquatic planets like Kit
5:17Fisto.
5:18It allowed the wielder to create an orb of pure force energy under the water, letting
5:22people breathe in it, and also for attack.
5:23Padme Amidala was saved by Kit Fisto because of this ability.
5:25**Number 13.
5:26Metamoprhisis (Alter, Sense, Control, Grey)**
5:27In Canon, the Metamorphisis ability really couldn’t be used by any regular force user,
5:30but it was used by the Gods of Mortis, also called The Ones, to transform into their animal
5:34forms at will.
5:35**Number 14.
5:36Force Meld (Alter/Sense/Control, Light Side)**
5:37The Force Meld ability allows a user who is extremely strong in the Light side of the
5:40Force to connect the minds of those around them to their own.
5:43This allowed the wielder to sense the feelings and thoughts of everyone in the network, and
5:46let them give instructions to coordinate a battle.
5:49Force meld was famously used during the Hetzal Hyperspace Disaster by Master Avar Kriss during
5:53the time of the High Republic.
5:55Because of how vast this ability was, it was in all three categories, but could only be
5:58used by very strong light siders.
6:00**Number 15.
6:01Tutaminis (Alter/Control, Light/Dark/Grey)**
6:02Tutaminis or Force Deflection was the ability to absorb dense pockets of energy, like those
6:07from blaster bolts or lightsabers.
6:09This was a difficult, but fairly common ability used by the likes of Master Yoda, Darth Vader
6:13in the Empire Strikes back and Many more.
6:15**Number 16.
6:16Force Sense (Sense, Grey)**
6:17This is one of the most basic force abilities out there and could be used by almost anyone.
6:21It allowed it’s wielder to sense the emotions of those around him, and ripples in the.
6:25This, along with Force Sight was how the Miraluka species were able to see, despite being blind.
6:29**Number 17.
6:30Mech-Deru (Control/Sense, Dark side)**
6:31This is actually one of the most interesting force abilities current in Canon, and basically
6:35when activated, it gave its wielder an intuitive knowledge and understanding of mechanical
6:39systems.
6:40This was used by Darth Vader to repair his suit, and also to attach a new leg when he
6:44was defeated by Kirak Infila.
6:46Some even believe that this ability is responsible for Anakin being so good with droids from
6:50a young age.
6:51**Number 18.
6:52Force Sight/Farsight (Sense, Dark/Light)**
6:54Farsight is the ability that allows Force Users to see their surroundings without the
6:57use of their eyes.
6:58It enhances the wielder’s spatial perception and can let them spot enemies behind walls.
7:03Major users of this ability were of course Kanan Jarrus in REbels and Luke Skywalker
7:06in the OT, but almost all Jedi at some point in their life were forced to use it.
7:10**Number 19.
7:11Force Rage (Control, Dark Side)**
7:12Sadly we have very limited information about this one from the Star Wars games, but it
7:17channels the Dark side of the force into the User’s emotion, increasing their rage and
7:21enhancing their lightsaber attacks.
7:23This was used heavily by Darth Vader and his Grandson Kylo Ren.
7:26**Number 20.
7:27Memory Rub (Control, Sense, Alter/Dark Side)**
7:28Memory rub allows it’s wilder to wipe certain events out of someone’s memory.
7:31It is the ability that the Father of Mortis used on Anakin Skywalker to make him forget
7:35the future he saw, of him becoming Darth Vader, and required one to be extremely profient
7:39in the Dark Side.
7:40**Number 21.
7:41Force Visions/Premonitions (Sense, Light/Dark/Grey)**
7:43This one isn’t really an ability, but since it one to be strong in the force to use, ill
7:47put it here anyway.
7:48Force Visions allowed users to see in the future, but they were not always accurate,
7:52and often misled the person that they happened to.
7:54**Number 22.
7:55Ability to become a force ghost (Control, Light/Dark)**
7:57After completing a specialized training, discovered first by Qui-Gon Jinn, one could transcended
8:01into the cosmic force upon their death and return to the living world as a force ghost.
8:06Despite not going through the training, in the moment of Anakin Skywalker’s death,
8:09Obi-Wan saw that he had been redeemed and chose to give him one final gift.
8:12The training to become a force ghost.
8:14Dark Siders can also become force ghosts, but only when attached to an object of significance
8:18to their life.
8:19An example of this is Darth Momin, who’s essence remained attached to his helmet after
8:23death
8:24**Number 23.
8:25Pyrokenisis or Fiery Energy (Alter, Dark Side)**
8:27This was an Ability used by Dark Siders that produced thick blue fire, and even allowed
8:31Palpatine to grab Ezra from inside the World Between Worlds.
8:34Other than that, we have no idea what else it can do in Canon.
8:36**Number 24.
8:37Bleeding (Control/Alter, Dark Side)**
8:39This is how lightsabers become Red in Canon.
8:41A User must pour all of their hatred and anger into a kyber crystal, forcing it to bleed
8:45with the dark side of the force.
8:46Darth Vader used this on the crystal of Kirak Infila after he killed him to gain his first
8:50sith lightsaber.
8:51**Number 25.
8:53Force Heal (Alter/Control, Unknown)**
8:54We currently don’t know exactly how Force Healing works in canon, but we know that it
8:58can heal a person at the expense of the healer’s own life force.
9:01Some people believe that its a Dark Side ability because it can circumvent death, but we really
9:06don’t know just yet.
9:07Another branch of this ability is the Force Cleanse, which can purify a Kyber crystal
9:10that is bleeding.
9:11This is what Ahsoka Tano did to the lightsabers of the 6th Brother to gain her white lightsabers.
9:16**Number 26.
9:19Force Speed (Control, Light Side/Dark Side/Grey)**
9:20Force Speed was the ability seen in the Phantom Menace and it allowed it’s user to incrase
9:23their running speed for a short time.
9:25The reason it was rarely ever used was because it could very quickly drain it’s user’s
9:29force energy, leaving them extremely vulnerable to attack.
9:32**Number 27.
9:33Alter Environment (Alter, Grey)**
9:34This one is an extremely unique force ability that was used by Bendu to summon the storm
9:38on Attalon during Thrawn’s attack on the Rebel base in Star Wars rebels.
9:41It was also used during the time of the High Republic, and allowed it’s wielder to influence
9:45nature and cause weather events.
9:46**Number 28.
9:47Force Scream (Alter, Dark Side)**
9:48This one is actually really fun, and it allows it’s user to screech out a debilitating
9:52scream, sending shockwaves through the force and disorientating the opponent.
9:56It is a firmly dark side ability, and was used by Palpatine in his office in Revenge
10:00of the Sith.
10:02**Number 29.
10:03Sith Sorcery/Sith Magic/Sith Alchemy (Alter/Control/Sense, Dark Side)**
10:04In Canon we don’t really know much about these arcane dark side powers, except that
10:08it was used by Darth Sidious and Dooku in the Clone Wars, but was also involved in the
10:12horrid project blackwing, which created zombie stormtroopers.
10:16It was also used on the reforged helmet of Kylo ren to strengthen it’s protection…
10:20**Number 30.
10:21Force Projection (Alter/Control, Light Side)**
10:22Force Projection also known as Similfuturs was an ability that allowed it’s wielder
10:26to project a false image of them to anywhere else in the Galaxy.
10:29It required extreme conentration and focus, and using it poured the life essence of the
10:33user into the cosmic force.
10:35If used for too long it could result in death just like what happened to Luke Skywalker,
10:38and it was strictly a light side ability.
10:41**Number 31.
10:42Force Stastis (Alter, Grey)**
10:43The force stasis ability allowed it’s user to freeze almost any physical object in place,
10:48even if it was in the air.
10:49It often manifsted as a shimmering, transparent energy shield when used, and it’s most common
10:53target was blaster bolts or other people.
10:55**Number 32.
10:57Battle Meditation (Alter/Control/Sense, Light Side)**
10:58Sadly in Canon, battle meditation hasn’t been expanded upon too much, but we know that
11:01it was a Light Side force ability that signficiantly boosted the morale, stamine and overall power
11:06of a person’s allies on the battlefield.
11:07On top of that, it made the enemy fighting force far weaker, and removed their will to
11:11fight.
11:12It was a very rare ability that was primarily used by Masters Adi Galli, Mace Windu and
11:16Oppo Rancisis, as well as Luke Skywalker later on.
11:19**Number 33.
11:20Force Stealth (Alter/Control, Light/Dark)**
11:21This power actually has two branches.
11:23The Light Side version, which simply alters one’s presence in the force, and the Dark
11:27Version which supresses and subjugates the force around the wielder.
11:30This is the version Palpatine used to hide from the Jedi.
11:33**Number 34.
11:34Force Empathy (Sense/Control, Light/Dark)**
11:35Force Empathy was a power that when used, allowed the wielder to feel the exact emotions
11:38of the person it was used on…
11:40And in It’s dark side varaint, could even manipulate those emotions.
11:43It was a pretty rare ability amongst the Jedi order, but was particularly common among Younglings
11:47from the Genetian sub-species of humans.
11:50**Number 35.
11:51Sever Force (Sense/Alter/Control, Light/Dark/Grey)**
11:52This one is as simple as it sounds.
11:53A force user who enacts this ability completely cuts themselves off from the force temporarily.
11:58This was notably used by Luke Skywalker, Cere Junda and Cal Kestis when they believed that
12:02the force could no longer help them…
12:03**Number 36.
12:05Essence Transfer (Alter/Control/Sense, Dark Side)**
12:06Essence Transfer was a force power invented by Darth Plagueis, which allowed him to move
12:09his force essence to another host body.
12:11After learnining the ability from his master though, Darth Sidious killed Plagueis, never
12:15giving him the chance to use his new discovery.
12:17Palpatine then went on to use it himself, surviving on Exegol after his defeat by Luke
12:21Skywalker and Darth Vader.
12:23In Canon we curently don’t know how it works, but that is being explored in the Mandalorian
12:27Season 2 and Bad Batch, with Mount Tantiss, Grogu’s Blood and the Snoke tanks giving
12:31us a glimpse into this dark science.
12:33**Number 37.
12:34Force Drain (Alter/Control, Dark Side/Light Side)**
12:35Force drain gave it’s user the ability to drain the life essence out of any other living
12:39being.
12:40Thsi was used by Palpatine on Rey and Kylo Ren to rejuvinate himself, as well as Mother
12:43Talzin on Count Dooku when the two came face to face in the Son of Dathomir comics.
12:48The Nightsister verison of this technique was far more painful.
12:50There was also weirdly enough a light side version of the technique which could be used
12:54to funnel the life essence of one being into another, like what was one on Mortis between
12:58by Anakin Skywalker, on Ahsoka Tano and the Daughter of Mortis.
13:00**Number 38.
13:02Mind Probe.
13:03(Alter, Dark Side)**
13:04Mind Probe was an extremely powerful force ability that allowed its user to sense and
13:06sift through the thoughts, emotions and memories of the victim.
13:09This was Dark Side force ability, and it often left it’s wielders.
13:13So that is every single known Force Power in Star Wars Canon.
