0:00hi everyone my name is Matt and welcome
0:02to another hobby hour tutorial let's
0:04paint this lumineth Archer for Warhammer
0:07age of Sigmar using a few contrast
0:08paints combined with a classic base coat
0:11shade and highlight style luminesth
0:14tends to have lots of bright solid
0:15colors and my usual contrast method
0:18won't work well on this kind of model
0:20so I'll be reverting to a more classic
0:22approach with clean base coats and Edge
0:24highlights painting in this way takes a
0:27little longer than the contrast method
0:29but I feel it's a very important skill
0:31to develop after cleaning the parts I
0:33assembled everything and kept the quiver
0:35separate to make painting easier and I
0:37mounted the parts on corks
0:40I primed the model with a medium gray
0:42primer followed by an airbrush of white
0:44paint concentrating more of the white
0:46near the top
0:50the box art shows a few different shades
0:52of white and gray and we can get two
0:54different shades from skeleton horde by
0:56thinning it down
0:58I'm starting off by painting the armor
1:00with a mix of equal parts skeleton horde
1:02and contrast medium
1:04focus on painting an even layer and use
1:06the brush to soak up any extra paint if
1:08it starts pooling
1:13foreign
1:23next I took some undiluted skeleton
1:25horde and painted all of the ropes
1:31[Music]
1:41I used some dwarf skin from Vallejo
1:43Express color and painted the face
1:52and when that dried I painted a second
1:55layer to deepen the color
2:03[Music]
2:05I base coated the legs and arms with
2:07finrazine gray
2:13[Music]
2:15next I painted all the leather areas
2:18with gorethore brown
2:19the box art has a really dark leather
2:21color but I think I'll go with a more
2:23medium brown instead
2:25[Music]
2:30foreign
2:33[Music]
2:57ER is drying I gave the bow a base coat
2:59of mourinfang brown
3:11[Music]
3:23I used Rune Lord brass to paint these
3:26details on the bow
3:27it'll be much easier to paint them now
3:29before painting the strings
3:39next I painted kalador sky on the center
3:42piece of fabric and the other details
3:46foreign
3:52[Music]
4:14then I painted the strings and quiver
4:16strap with administratum gray
4:24[Music]
4:27next I shaded the bow and all the
4:29leather areas with agrax Earth shade
4:33[Music]
4:43[Music]
4:54foreign
4:57to shape the blue areas I made a mix of
4:59three parts Tyrone blue and one part
5:01drakenhof nightshade
5:03Tyron blue on its own is too weak and
5:05drakenhof Nightshade is too dark but
5:08this mix makes a good medium
5:16next I shaded all the strings with
5:18basilicon and gray
5:35[Music]
5:39then I diluted the Basilica condom gray
5:41with an equal amount of contrast medium
5:43and shaded the pheneresian gray cloth
5:46areas
5:52next I took some black and painted the
5:54inside of the sleeves
5:55the model doesn't have anything sculpted
5:57here but I wanted to give the impression
5:59of a shadow
6:12now for the time consuming part black
6:15lining
6:16thin down some black paint with equal
6:18parts water and paint a black line in
6:20between any areas where you want more
6:22definition
6:23the most important areas are going to be
6:25the edges of the armor to help Define
6:27the brass trim later
6:29it's best to do this step now that way
6:31if you make any mistakes you can easily
6:33cover them up later with the highlight
6:35colors
6:48[Music]
6:50foreign
6:51[Music]
6:57with the black lining done I painted all
6:59of the armor trim and metal areas with
7:01ruin Lord brass
7:07[Music]
7:25foreign
7:31[Music]
7:36and when the brass dried I applied a
7:38coat of rikling Flesh shade
7:48then I painted the arrowhead with iron
7:50hand Steel
7:53and when that was dry I shaded it with
7:55Basilica and gray
7:57[Music]
8:02I wasn't sure how I wanted to paint the
8:04arrows in the dagger handle but I ended
8:06up deciding on a dark blue
8:08so I base coated them with mccrack blue
8:15then I shaded those areas with a
8:17generous coat of drakenhof nightshade
8:23next I painted the eyes it's a little
8:26hard to see with the bow in the way I
8:28started with a coat of black paint then
8:31I painted the eyes with white and then I
8:33went in with a DOT of black for the
8:34pupils
8:36the eyes can really help tell the story
8:38so pay attention to the direction the
8:40model is looking
8:41so at this stage you could glue the
8:43quiver on and call it finished to a
8:45tabletop standard
8:46since this process can take a while it
8:49might be a good idea to get your whole
8:50Army to this stage so you can get to
8:52playing and then highlight each model as
8:54you find the time later
8:56for the first highlight I thinned down
8:58some bone white and applied a glaze over
9:00the cloth
9:01contrast paint can leave an uneven
9:03looking surface especially on smooth
9:05areas and a glaze can help even out the
9:08Finish
9:09[Music]
9:18[Music]
9:22next I used off-white from Vallejo game
9:25color and painted over the armor using
9:27the same glazing technique it might take
9:29a couple of layers to build up a smooth
9:31finish
9:32while it may take a little time I think
9:35the end result is worth it
9:36[Music]
9:45I also used off-white to highlight the
9:47trim around the fabric
9:49[Music]
9:54now for highlighting the blue I
9:57highlighted the cloth with some calidor
9:59Sky I didn't bother highlighting the
10:01other areas with it as those details are
10:04small enough we can jump ahead to the
10:05next step
10:08next I mixed equal parts kalador sky and
10:11lathern blue and I highlighted the edges
10:13of the fabric and the ends of the
10:15tassels and the helmet decoration
10:51[Music]
10:57then I highlighted the very edges and
10:59Corners with lothern blue
11:10foreign
11:23[Music]
11:26I wanted to add some Edge highlights to
11:28the armor so I thinned down some white
11:30and carefully painted close to the trim
11:32exactly where you place these highlights
11:34is up to you I tend to follow around the
11:37border of each section and concentrate
11:39more of the Highlight on the upward
11:40facing areas
11:43[Music]
11:44next I highlighted the edges of the
11:46strings with administratum gray
11:49[Music]
11:53look
11:57[Music]
12:11at
12:15and then I highlighted the dark blue
12:18areas with mccrack blue
12:22I highlighted the edges of the leather
12:24with korthor brown
12:34and then I used Bane Blade Brown on the
12:37topmost edges and corners
12:39[Music]
12:54I highlighted the blue gray cloth in two
12:56steps beginning with a thin glaze of
12:58ferrisian gray to even out the Finish
13:03when the glaze was dry I went back with
13:05finrazine gray again and added a line
13:07highlight on some of the edges
13:17I highlighted the edges of the wood with
13:19xv88
13:39then I used stormhost silver to
13:41highlight the edges of all the metal
13:43areas
13:44I like the look of silver on the edges
13:46of brass it really makes all the details
13:48pop
13:52[Music]
13:58and finally I painted the gemstones
14:00beginning with a line of black around
14:01the edges
14:03followed by a coat of white
14:09then I applied some Tyrone blue to the
14:11gem the brush will deposit more paint
14:14where it last touches the model so I
14:16like to make sure to end the brush
14:17stroke near the top of the gem and the
14:20result is a blended effect from dark to
14:22light
14:25[Music]
14:28after that first coat tried I applied a
14:30second coat in the same way to deepen
14:32the color
14:35[Music]
14:41next I painted some drakenhof Nightshade
14:43to the topmost section of the gem
14:49and after that dried I painted a small
14:51dot of white
14:58I was looking over the model and thought
15:00the dark blue areas could use another
15:02highlight so I quickly painted the edges
15:04with calgar blue
15:08I used an old brush to apply some
15:10textured paint and while the paint was
15:12still wet I sprinkled on some gravel and
15:14fine sand
15:17after allowing it to dry I sealed in the
15:20sand with a coat of rhinoxide
15:24I dry brushed the base with more and
15:26Fang Brown
15:29followed by Baylor Brown
15:32and then bone White
15:36the Rocks were given a coat of dawn
15:38stone
15:40followed by a wash of agrak's Earth
15:42shade
15:45I painted the edge of the base with
15:46black
15:48and when that was dry I applied some
15:50patches of static grass with super glue
15:54when the basing was finished I glued the
15:56quiver on with super glue
15:59and here we have the finished luminesth
16:02vanari Sentinel
16:03style of painting does take a little
16:05more time but it's hard to beat how
16:07clean it looks it's a great skill to
