0:00The forces responsible for over 100

0:02distinct abilities across Star Wars

0:04canon, from pushing objects across a

0:06room to literally transferring your soul

0:09into someone else's body. So, today

0:11we're breaking down every single force

0:13ability and explaining exactly how they

0:15work, starting with the one that makes

0:17all of it possible, force sensitivity.

0:20Before any Jedi can lift a rock or choke

0:22out an Imperial officer, they need this.

0:24Force sensitivity is the entry ticket.

0:27You either have it or you don't. Most

0:28commonly, you inherit a force sensitive

0:31parent. Sometimes it shows up randomly,

0:33no family history required, and in the

0:35rarest cases, it can be artificially

0:37given to someone, which is, you know,

0:39not ideal. The biological mechanism

0:41behind all of this is midi-chlorians,

0:43microscopic organisms living inside your

0:45cells. Your average person has about

0:482,500 per cell. Anakin Skywalker, over

0:5120,000, higher than Yoda, higher than

0:54anyone ever recorded. But, having a high

0:56count doesn't automatically make you

0:58powerful. [music] It makes you capable.

1:00What you do with that connection starts

1:02with the most basic ability every force

1:04[music] sensitive develops first, force

1:07sense. Force sense is the training

1:09wheels of the Jedi Order, and it's the

1:11one ability that makes every other

1:13ability on this list possible. Without

1:15it, you're just a person holding a

1:17glowing sword.

1:17>> [music]

1:18>> At its core, force sense allows a user

1:20to feel emotions, detect future events,

1:23and identify the dark side. But, the

1:25most useful part, the danger sense. It

1:27operates completely involuntarily, like

1:30a tingling that says something terrible

1:31is about to happen. Yoda used exactly

1:34[music] this to survive Order 66,

1:36sensing the clone troopers betrayal

1:38before a single shot was fired. But,

1:40perhaps the most impressive

1:41demonstration belongs to Kanan Jarrus,

1:44who, after being permanently blinded,

1:46developed his force sense to the point

1:48where he could fight in complete

1:49darkness. No eyes, zero problem. But, if

1:52sensing danger is impressive, wait until

1:54you see See happens when force users

1:56start moving things with their minds.

1:58Telekinesis. Telekinesis is the Swiss

2:01Army knife of force abilities. It's the

2:03one power that literally every force

2:05user picks up and for good reason. The

2:07concept is simple. Move things with your

2:09mind instead of your hands. But here's

2:11the thing. It doesn't care how big you

2:13are or how much you can bench press.

2:15Telekinesis runs entirely on willpower,

2:18which is why a tiny green creature who

2:20weighs about as much as a medium dog can

2:22rip an X-Wing out of a swamp. The three

2:25building blocks are force push, force

2:27pull, and force grip. Every fancy

2:29application you've ever seen, crushing

2:31droids, yanking someone's weapon out of

2:33their hands from across a room, all of

2:35it traces back to those three basics.

2:37Sufficiently skilled [music] users can

2:39even manipulate liquids and explosive

2:41forces, which is, you know, not ideal

2:43for whoever's standing nearby. But if

2:45moving objects around sounds impressive,

2:48wait until you see what the force does

2:50to gravity. Force jump. [music] Force

2:52jump is exactly what it sounds like and

2:54yet somehow way more interesting than

2:56you'd expect. A force sensitive channels

2:58the force through their body to launch

3:00themselves across ridiculous distances,

3:02completely ignoring what gravity has to

3:04say about the situation. Here's what's

3:06wild though. You don't even need

3:08training to do it. Both Ezra Bridger and

3:10Leia Organa pulled off force enhanced

3:12leaps instinctively with zero formal

3:15instruction. [music]

3:16The force just kind of kicked in and

3:17said, "We're jumping now." The most

3:19iconic example, Luke Skywalker launching

3:22himself out of the carbon freeze chamber

3:23on Cloud City. He later described the

3:25sensation as though the air itself was

3:28moving him, which is either poetic or

3:29terrifying depending on how you feel

3:32about invisible forces yeeeting you

3:34[music] upward. But if you think

3:35enhanced jumping is impressive, wait

3:37until you see what the force does to

3:39someone's speed. Force speed. [music]

3:41Force speed is one of those abilities

3:43that sound straightforward until you

3:44think about what it actually means for

3:46the person using it. On the surface, it

3:48lets a force user maintain sprinting

3:50speeds for brief periods with greater

3:52aptitude granting longer duration.

3:54Simple enough, but here's the thing. The

3:56increased speed doesn't just make them

3:58faster, it makes the entire world slow

4:01down around them. They perceive and

4:03react to everything in slow motion,

4:05dodging attacks that should be

4:06impossible to avoid and striking with

4:08pinpoint accuracy. This is why

4:10lightsaber duels look the way they do.

4:12Force speed is baked into nearly every

4:14clash, amplifying both offense and

4:17defense simultaneously. Even Darth

4:19Vader, a man held together by machinery

4:21and spite, frequently uses it to augment

4:24his speed [music] despite his mechanical

4:25limitations, which is, you know,

4:28terrifying. But if moving fast is

4:29impressive, wait until you see what the

4:31force can do [music] to someone's mind

4:33without them even knowing. Mind trick,

4:35this is the one your mom knows about.

4:37Even people who've never seen Star

4:39[music] Wars can do the hand wave, but

4:40most people don't think about what's

4:42actually happening here because it's

4:44genuinely unsettling. Mind trick lets a

4:47force user rewrite someone's thoughts

4:49and bend their will. It works best on

4:51the weak-minded, and certain species

4:53like Hutts and Toydarians are [music]

4:54completely immune. You could wave your

4:56hand at Watto all day and he'd just

4:58stare at you like you owed him money.

5:00The Jedi call this a peaceful

5:02negotiation tool, which is a lovely way

5:04of saying I'm rewriting your brain so I

5:06don't have to fight you. Obi-Wan

5:07convinced stormtroopers they weren't

5:09looking for the droids. Those troopers

5:11walked away fully believing thoughts

5:13that weren't theirs. That's not

5:14diplomacy, that's polite mind control.

5:17But at least mind trick leaves you

5:18[music] alive. The next ability doesn't

5:20even guarantee that. Force choke.

5:23Telekinesis is versatile. [music]

5:25You can push, pull, lift, throw. But if

5:28you take that same power and wrap it

5:29around someone's throat with the

5:31specific intent to watch the life drain

5:33out of their eyes, now you've got force

5:35choke. This is a dark side

5:36specialization where the user strangles

5:38a victim, usually with that iconic

5:41claw-like hand gesture. It works as both

5:43a killing technique and a psychological

5:45terror tool. You don't just die, you die

5:47knowing exactly who's doing it and that

5:49they could stop at any moment, but

5:51won't. Darth Vader turned this into an

5:53art form. He killed Admiral Ozzel

5:55through a viewscreen while sitting in

5:57his meditation chamber on an entirely

5:59different ship. No line of sight, no

6:00proximity, just pure dark side reach.

6:03The only limitation is concentration.

6:05[music]

6:06Break focus and the target goes free.

6:08But if choking people through a screen

6:10is unsettling, wait until we get into

6:12what the force can do when it's inside

6:14your head. Telepathy. Most force

6:16abilities are loud. Lightsabers hum,

6:18lightning crackles, objects [music] go

6:20flying across the room. Telepathy is the

6:22opposite, completely silent, completely

6:25invisible, and honestly one of the most

6:27overpowered things in the entire force

6:29toolkit. It allows force users to

6:32transmit thoughts, emotions, and

6:34information directly into someone else's

6:36mind. No comms, no signals to intercept,

6:39no frequency to jam, just pure

6:41undetectable communication. Unlike a

6:44force bond, which is a permanent, often

6:46involuntary connection between two

6:48people, telepathy is deliberate. You

6:50choose when to use it, who to reach, and

6:53what to send. Jedi used it to coordinate

6:55in combat. Sith used it for covert

6:57manipulation. The force doesn't care

6:59about your alignment when you're [music]

7:00just sending a text message with your

7:02brain. Range varied wildly. Luke

7:04projecting his distress to Leia across

7:06Cloud City remains the most famous

7:08example, reaching someone with zero

7:10formal training. Not ideal for subtlety,

7:13but extremely impressive as raw power.

7:15But if telepathy lets you talk without

7:17speaking, the next ability lets you heal

7:20without medicine,

7:21>> [music]

7:21>> force healing. Force healing is one of

7:24those abilities that sound

7:25straightforward until you realize it's

7:27basically a transaction. You're not

7:29casting a spell, you're pouring your own

7:31life energy into someone else's wound,

7:33and that vitality has to come from

7:35somewhere. The user places their hand

7:38over the injury, channels the force, and

7:40the flesh mends. Sometimes there's a

7:42blue-white pulse, sometimes a golden

7:44glow, sometimes nothing visible at all,

7:47but the cost is always there. Normal

7:49healing can be recovered through rest

7:51and meditation. Resurrection, though,

7:53that's a completely different price tag.

7:55Ben Solo used Force healing to bring Rey

7:57back from the dead, and the amount of

7:59life energy required to pull that off

8:01drained him entirely. He died, which is,

8:04>> [music]

8:04>> you know, not ideal. On the flip side,

8:06Darth Sidious achieved similar results

8:08through Force drain, stealing health

8:09from others rather than offering his

8:11own. Same outcome, opposite philosophy.

8:14But if transferring life force sounds

8:15dangerous, wait until you see what

8:17happens when the Force gets weaponized

8:19into pure electricity,

8:20>> [music]

8:20>> Force lightning. This is the one

8:22everybody pictures when they think of

8:23the dark side, and honestly, it earns

8:25that reputation. Force lightning is a

8:27raw discharge of electrical energy fired

8:30directly from the practitioner's hands,

8:32and it can kill, disfigure, cause

8:34unimaginable pain, or straight-up

8:36disintegrate a target. It can also

8:38destroy starships and physical objects,

8:41parry other Force abilities, or stun

8:43opponents into submission, which is, you

8:45know, not ideal if you're on the

8:47receiving end. It's most commonly

8:48[music] associated with Sith Lords and

8:51Palpatine frying Luke Skywalker in

8:53Return of the Jedi basically cemented it

8:56as the iconic [music] dark side power.

8:58But here's the thing, the Jedi Order

9:00banned it, sure, but ancient Jedi

9:02actually used it against the Sith. So,

9:03the real question isn't [music] whether

9:05it's evil, it's whether the technique

9:07itself is inherently dark or just a tool

9:09that dark people happen to love using.

9:12But even if you could survive a full

9:14blast of Force lightning, that doesn't

9:15mean you could do anything useful with

9:17all that energy. Unless, of course, you

9:19knew how [music] to absorb it, Force

9:21absorption. Every Jedi initiate learns

9:24this one on day one. Tutaminis, as the

9:27Order officially classified it, is the

9:29foundational defensive technique that

9:31allows a Force user to draw harmful

9:33energy into their body and either

9:35diffuse it or channel it away

9:36completely. Heat, electricity,

9:39electromagnetic radiation, even hard

9:41radiation like gamma rays, all fair

9:43game. But here's the thing, while every

9:45Jedi student gets the basics, actually

9:48dissipating concentrated energy like a

9:50blaster bolt [music] or a lightsaber

9:52blade is extraordinarily rare. Most Jedi

9:55never get there. The ones who do

9:56essentially [music] turn enemy attacks

9:58into fuel. After absorbing that energy,

10:01they can redirect it to heal wounds or

10:03power [music] other force abilities.

10:05It's basically a non-harmful version of

10:07force drain, except instead of ripping

10:09life out of someone, you're just [music]

10:11eating a blaster shot and using it to

10:13patch yourself up, which is, you know, a

10:15handy trick. But if you think freezing

10:16energy in place sounds impressive, wait

10:19until you see what happens when you

10:20freeze an entire person. Force [music]

10:22stasis. Most telekinetic abilities

10:25require you to actively hold something

10:27in place. You're concentrating, [music]

10:29you're gesturing, you're basically arm

10:31wrestling the universe the entire time.

10:33Force stasis throws all of that out the

10:35window. You freeze a target completely,

10:37[music] cancel out all their motion, and

10:40just walk away while they hang there

10:41like a paused video. Kylo Ren gave us

10:44the definitive demonstration during the

10:46attack on Tuwanul. A resistance fighter

10:48fires a blaster bolt directly at him,

10:50and Ren freezes the bolt midair while

10:52simultaneously locking the shooter in

10:54place. Two targets, one moment, zero

10:56effort [music] on his face, which is,

10:58you know, a pretty solid way to

11:00introduce a villain. What separates

11:01stasis from regular telekinesis is that

11:04it doesn't require continuous effort to

11:06maintain. You set it and forget it. Cal

11:08Kestis turned this into a staple across

11:10both Jedi games, making [music] what was

11:12once a rare display into something

11:14players spam on every stormtrooper

11:16[music] they meet. But freezing people

11:18in place is gentle compared to what the

11:20force can do to entire armies, which

11:22brings us to battle meditation. Battle

11:24meditation. Most force abilities are

11:26about what one person can do. Battle

11:28meditation is about what one person can

11:31make an entire army do. It's a rare

11:33force ability that links minds together

11:35for coordinated [music] action at scales

11:37that should be physically impossible.

11:39During the Valo atrocity, Porter Engle

11:41used battle meditation to unite other

11:44Jedi so they could fly starfighters in

11:46synchronized formation with him. No

11:48verbal communication, no hand signals,

11:50just pure force linked consciousness

11:52piloting ships in perfect unison. Adi

11:55Gallia pulled off something similar

11:56during the Clone Wars employing battle

11:58meditation while piloting her Delta 7B

12:01alongside a V-19 Torrent in active

12:03combat. So she's flying, fighting, and

12:05psychically networking with other pilots

12:07simultaneously, which is, you know,

12:09casual. The ability is exceptionally

12:11rare and for good reason. Turning the

12:13force into a tactical communications

12:15network for an entire fighting force

12:17requires mental discipline most Jedi

12:20never come close to achieving. If

12:22anyone's going to mentally coordinate an

12:23army, it's the 900-year-old green guy.

12:26But if coordinating sentient minds

12:28sounds impressive, wait until you

12:30[music] see what the force can do with

12:32creatures that don't even speak. Animal

12:35Bond. Most force abilities are about

12:37dominating something, pushing it,

12:39choking it, freezing it in place. Animal

12:41Bond is the opposite. It lets the user

12:43calm a creature and then use it as a

12:45mount, a guard beast, or just stop it

12:48from eating your face. And it was taught

12:50to younglings, literal [music] children,

12:52which tells you exactly how foundational

12:54the Jedi considered this skill. Here's

12:56the thing though, Animal Bond doesn't

12:59work like a mind trick. You're not

13:01overriding a creature's will. You're

13:02forming an empathic connection,

13:04projecting calm and intent until the

13:07animal recognizes you as not a threat.

13:09It's less, "These aren't the droids

13:11you're looking for." and more, "Hey

13:12buddy, please don't gore me." Anakin,

13:15Obi-Wan, Ezra Bridger, and Kanan Jarrus

13:18all demonstrated mastery of this

13:19ability. Ezra in particular treated it

13:22less like a tool and more like a

13:24conversation, which raises an

13:26interesting question. Is this genuine

13:28partnership or just polite mind control?

13:30The animals seem happy about it at

13:32least, but if calming a beast sounds

13:34peaceful, the next ability is the exact

13:36opposite of peace.

13:38>> [music]

13:38>> Force Rage. Force Rage is essentially

13:40the dark side's version of a pre-workout

13:43supplement, except instead of creatine

13:45and caffeine, you're fueling yourself

13:47with your deepest fears, pain, and

13:49hatred, which is, you know, not ideal.

13:52The user channels all that negativity

13:54into pure con- centrated rage. Strength,

13:57speed, agility, endurance, ferocity, all

14:00cranked to the absolute maximum. For a

14:03brief window, you become a nearly

14:05unstoppable force of destruction. But

14:07here's the kicker, your body literally

14:09cannot handle it. The moment the rage

14:11fades, you're left completely drained.

14:13Exhaustion, depression, physiological

14:15damage, the works. In Jedi Outcast

14:18multiplayer, using Force [music] Rage

14:20would actively eat away at your health

14:22while active, and once it ended, your

14:24character slowed to a crawl. And if a

14:26light side user taps into it, it can

14:28sever their connection to the light

14:30entirely. It's a power that gives you

14:32everything in the moment and takes twice

14:34as much when the bill comes due. But if

14:36Force Rage borrows power from your own

14:38body, the next ability just takes it

14:40from someone else entirely. Force Drain.

14:43Remember Force Healing? How a Jedi pours

14:46their own life energy into someone else

14:48to mend their wounds? Force Drain is

14:50that, but in reverse, and way worse.

14:53Instead of giving, the practitioner

14:55takes. They rip the life energies from

14:57another person and absorb [music] it

14:58directly into themselves, strengthening

15:01their connection to the dark side in the

15:03process. A Jedi sacrifices their own

15:06vitality to save someone. A Sith just

15:08takes yours. Here's where it gets

15:10genuinely terrifying though. Sith Lords

15:12used [music] this technique to extend

15:14their lives for centuries beyond their

15:16natural expiration. Not decades,

15:19centuries. They'd siphon life from

15:20captives to keep themselves alive long

15:23past when their bodies should have given

15:25out. Darth Sidious took it further using

15:27Force drain to actively restore his own

15:30health by ripping it from others,

15:32[music] which is, you know, not ideal

15:33for the others. The philosophical gap

15:36here is massive. Light side healing

15:38costs you something. Dark side healing

15:41costs everyone else. But if draining

15:43someone's life force sounds invasive,

15:45wait until you hear about a power that

15:47lets you rip memories straight [music]

15:49out of objects. Psychometry. Most Force

15:52abilities are about projecting outward,

15:54pushing, pulling, choking, all that fun

15:56stuff. Psychometry is the opposite. You

15:58touch an object and the object talks

16:00back. A Force user grabs something, a

16:02weapon, a piece of clothing, anything,

16:05and they're hit with visions. Distorted

16:07sight, warped [music] sound, raw

16:09emotions, all belonging to whoever held

16:11that object before them. You're not just

16:13learning about the past, you're [music]

16:15experiencing it. Every sensation the

16:17previous owner felt floods into your

16:20brain like a bad dream you can't wake up

16:22from. Jedi Master Quinlan Vos was the

16:25poster child for this [music] ability,

16:27using it to track targets across the

16:29galaxy like a Force-powered bloodhound.

16:31[music]

16:31Personal items gave the clearest

16:33readings, while objects handled by

16:35multiple people turned into static. But

16:37here's the dark part. If the object was

16:39used for something horrible, [music] the

16:41experience doesn't just show you what

16:43happened. It contaminates you. Dark side

16:45residue seeps in through the vision and

16:48dark side practitioners skipped objects

16:50entirely, ripping memories straight from

16:53living brains, [music]

16:54which is, you know, not ideal. But if

16:56touching dead objects sounds disturbing,

16:59wait until you hear about Jedi who could

17:01make plants [music] attack people. Plant

17:03surge. Most Force abilities are about

17:05destruction [music] or manipulation.

17:07Plant surge is about gardening.

17:09Aggressive gardening, but gardening

17:11nonetheless. Officially known as

17:13Consitor Sado, Plant surge is a light

17:15side technique that channels life energy

17:17directly [music] into plants,

17:18accelerating their growth and

17:20controlling the direction they grow. In

17:22a calm setting, a Jedi could coax a

17:24dying crop back to health. Useful, sure.

17:26A little boring, absolutely. But in

17:28combat, it gets interesting. [music] A

17:30skilled practitioner could cause vines

17:32and roots to erupt from the ground at

17:33incredible speed, twisting around

17:35opponents and locking them in place.

17:37Once ensnared, the victim couldn't

17:39dodge, couldn't fight back, and couldn't

17:41move. Which is, you know, not ideal when

17:44you're wrapped in something [music]

17:45actively trying to become a tree around

17:47your legs. The Jedi loved it because

17:49nobody had to die. You just got hugged

17:51by a bush until you calm down. It's one

17:54of the most creative non-lethal

17:55techniques [music] in the entire Force

17:57toolkit, and it requires genuinely

17:59precise control over biological

18:01organisms, which is harder than it

18:03sounds [music] when you're mid-combat

18:05trying to convince a fern to do your

18:07bidding. But if Plant Surge represents

18:10the Force's connection to living things,

18:13the next ability takes that connection

18:15in the opposite direction, past death

18:17itself. [music] Force ghost. Most Force

18:19abilities let you do incredible things

18:21while you're alive. This one lets you do

18:23incredible things after you're dead,

18:25which is, you know, a bit of an upgrade.

18:26Force ghosts are the preserved

18:28consciousness of deceased Force

18:30sensitives who essentially told death no

18:33thanks and kept existing anyway. When a

18:35Jedi masters this technique [music] and

18:37dies, their physical body vanishes

18:39completely, sublimating into pure

18:42energy. What's left is the spirit, fully

18:44aware, fully themselves, hanging around

18:47in an intermediate state known as the

18:49netherworld of the Force. Obi-Wan, Yoda,

18:51and Luke are the most [music] famous

18:53examples. These manifested spirits can

18:55wield Force powers, appear to the

18:57living, and travel instantaneously

18:59[music] to any point in the galaxy by

19:01sheer force of will. Here's the thing,

19:03though. This knowledge is only

19:05accessible to those who fully embrace

19:07the light side. Some Sith figured out

19:09similar tricks through essence transfer,

19:11but the pure version of spiritual

19:13immortality remains a light side

19:14exclusive. But, if you think preserving

19:16your consciousness after death sounds

19:18extreme, wait until you hear about the

19:20ability that killed Luke Skywalker

19:22before he even became a ghost, force

19:24projection. This is the ability that

19:26killed Luke Skywalker, not in some

19:28metaphorical poetic sense. It literally

19:31drained the life out of him. Force

19:33projection allows a force user to create

19:35an illusory copy of themselves and

19:37transmit it across [music] vast

19:39distances. We're talking light years.

19:41The user pours their living force into

19:43the cosmic force, generating a

19:45simulacrum so convincing it can fool

19:47sensors, droids, and even other force

19:49[music] users standing right in front of

19:51it. Here's the thing, the projection

19:53isn't really there. Luke's simulacrum on

19:55Crait walked through every weapon the

19:57first order had without a scratch. Kylo

20:00Ren swung a lightsaber through him,

20:02nothing. He even projected a younger

20:03appearance and a lightsaber he didn't

20:05actually possess anymore. The illusion

20:07was that complete, but the cost is

20:09obscene. Kylo told Rey she would die if

20:11she attempted it. Luke managed to pull

20:13it off from Ahch-To all the way to

20:15Crait, bought the Resistance time to

20:16escape, and then peacefully became one

20:18with the force,

20:19>> [music]

20:19>> which is a very polite way of saying the

20:21effort killed him. If force projection

20:23proves anything, it's that the force

20:25connects people in ways that go [music]

20:26far beyond what most abilities can

20:28achieve, which brings us to an ability

20:31that's literally [music] built on that

20:32connection, force bond. Most force

20:35abilities are things you [music] do.

20:37Force bond is something that happens to

20:39you. It's a deep persistent connection

20:41between two force sensitive individuals

20:43that links their minds across the

20:45galaxy, and neither party gets a say in

20:48whether it switches [music] off. When

20:49active, both people manifest in each

20:51other's location simultaneously. [music]

20:53They can see each other, hear each

20:55other, feel each other's emotions, all

20:58while standing in completely different

21:00star systems. It's not a hologram. It's

21:02closer to two people occupying the same

21:05room through sheer willpower of the

21:07force itself. The most significant

21:09example is the bond between Kylo Ren and

21:11Rey. As [music] a force dyad, their

21:13connection was so rare the Sith Eternal

21:15considered it prophecy, while the Jedi

21:18had basically forgotten it existed,

21:19[music] which is, you know, not ideal

21:21for record-keeping purposes. What made

21:23it genuinely unprecedented was how far

21:26it [music] escalated. By the end, Ren

21:28and Rey could physically transfer

21:30objects through the force across

21:31light-years. On one occasion, Ren's

21:34glove ended up wet from the rain on

21:36Ahch-To because Rey was standing in it.

21:38That's not telepathy anymore. That's the

21:40force [music] just casually ignoring the

21:42laws of physics. But, if the force can

21:44connect two minds across a galaxy, wait

21:47until you hear about the ability that

21:49lets someone see exactly [music] where

21:51the entire universe is about to break.

21:53Shatterpoint, Mace Windu is one of the

21:55most powerful Jedi to ever live, and

21:58most [music] people only know him for

21:59the purple lightsaber, which is, you

22:01know, not ideal because his actual

22:04signature ability is way more

22:05interesting than his blade color.

22:07Shatterpoint is a rare force ability

22:09that lets certain force sensitives

22:11perceive critical weaknesses [music] in

22:13people, objects, or even events. Fault

22:15lines in reality itself that, if struck

22:18at the right moment, cause everything to

22:19collapse. Windu could look at a

22:21situation and literally see where it

22:23would break. The ability first appeared

22:25in the 2003 Shatterpoint novel, then got

22:28tossed into Legends during Lucasfilm's

22:302012 continuity purge. Gone, [music]

22:32just like that. But, here's where it

22:34gets interesting. The 2022 Brotherhood

22:36novel included a direct reference to

22:38Mace Windu and Shatterpoints, and recent

22:40Marvel comic materials went even

22:42further, seemingly [music] confirming

22:44the restoration outright. So,

22:46Shatterpoint spent nearly a decade in

22:47canonical limbo, and now it's quietly

22:49back like nothing happened. An ability

22:52that lets you see exactly where to apply

22:53pressure to shatter anything. That's

22:55terrifying. But, if [music] sensing

22:57weaknesses sounds overpowered, wait

22:59until you hear about a technique that

23:01weaponizes your own [music] inner ear

23:02against you, Malacia. This one is

23:05genuinely elegant and almost nobody used

23:07it. Malacia was a force technique that

23:09induced powerful [music] dizziness and

23:11nausea in enemies by turning their own

23:13equilibrium against them, not projecting

23:16energy outward, [music] not throwing

23:17anyone across a room, just quietly

23:20flipping a switch inside their inner ear

23:22and letting gravity do the rest. [music]

23:24The target would become completely

23:26incapacitated, sometimes to the point of

23:28vomiting, but here's the thing. It

23:30caused zero physical damage, [music]

23:32which means the Jedi Council couldn't

23:33even classify it as a dark side power.

23:36You're not hurting anyone, you're just

23:37making them really, really wish they

23:39were dead for about 10 minutes. What

23:41made Malacia unique was that the Force

23:43user transformed the target's existing

23:45energy rather than expending their own.

23:48Most Force abilities are about

23:49projection. This one is about

23:51redirection. Peak sophistication. Jedi

23:54Master Oppo Rancisis perfected the

23:57technique and tried teaching it to

23:59[music] basically every Jedi who'd sit

24:01still long enough. Almost none of them

24:02actually mastered it. Most preferred

24:04just Force pushing someone into a wall,

24:06which is, you know, less refined, but

24:08gets the job done. But if Malacia sounds

24:10dangerous in a subtle way, wait until

24:12you hear about Morichro, a technique so

24:14lethal it earned the name the touch of

24:16death. Morichro. [music] The Jedi Order

24:18had a lot of rules about what you could

24:20and couldn't do with the Force. Don't

24:22choke people, don't shoot lightning,

24:23standard [music] stuff. But Morichro is

24:25one of the few light side techniques

24:27where the Order said, [music] "Yeah, no.

24:29Almost nobody gets to touch this one."

24:30Morichro, also known as the touch of

24:32death, rapidly slows down an opponent's

24:34bodily functions to the point of death.

24:37Heart rate, breathing, brain function,

24:39all grinding to a halt like flipping a

24:40switch, which is, you know, not ideal

24:42for the person on the receiving end.

24:44Master Yaddle was one of the few Jedi

24:46actually permitted to practice it, and

24:48that tells you everything.

24:49>> [music]

24:49>> She wasn't just filling a council seat,

24:51she was deeply attuned to the will of

24:53the Force and skilled in deadly

24:55little-known techniques. If the Order

24:57trusted anyone with a kill on contact

24:59ability, it was her. Here's the thing

25:00though, when the Sith I take Sarak

25:02claimed to have mastered Morichro, Jedi

25:04Knight Vildar Mac dismissed it as a

25:06myth. A trained Jedi genuinely believed

25:10it didn't exist. The order didn't

25:11[music] just restrict this technique.

25:13They buried it so deep, their own

25:15knights thought it was a fairy tale. And

25:17honestly, you can see why. This is one

25:19of the only explicitly lethal light side

25:21abilities in the entire canon. Not a

25:24Sith corruption, a Jedi art that kills

25:26people. But if Morichro represents the

25:28force silencing a body, the next ability

25:31is about doing the exact opposite.

25:33Amplifying what you can hear beyond

25:35anything physically possible. Force

25:37listening. Most force abilities are

25:39about pushing your will onto the world.

25:41[music] Force listening is the opposite.

25:43It's about shutting up and actually

25:44paying attention. Theron force listening

25:47was a technique developed by the Theron

25:49listeners. A species that figured out

25:51how to hear through the force itself.

25:52With it, a force sensitive could

25:54understand words spoken in a completely

25:56different language or eavesdrop on

25:58organic beings talking from enormous

26:00distances. Basically, a universal

26:02translator and a long-range wiretap

26:04rolled into one. Which is, [music] you

26:06know, not ideal if you're the one being

26:08listened to. Jacen Solo learned the

26:10technique directly from the Therons

26:12themselves after the Yuuzhan Vong War.

26:14Spending time with their culture and

26:16picking up an ability no Jedi had ever

26:18formally taught. [music] His sister

26:19Jaina later learned it, too. What makes

26:21this one interesting is that it wasn't

26:23invented by the Jedi or the Sith. It

26:25came from an entirely separate force

26:27using culture that developed a technique

26:29perfectly suited to their own needs. The

26:31Jedi just borrowed it. Or more

26:33accurately, one Jedi showed up, thought

26:34it was cool, and brought it home like a

26:36souvenir. But if you think listening to

26:38someone is unsettling, wait until you

26:40hear about the force power that kills

26:42people just by looking at them. Deadly

26:44sight. You can force choke someone. You

26:46can electrocute them with lightning. But

26:48what if you could just look at somebody

26:49and they burst into flames? [music]

26:51That's deadly sight. Pure concentrated

26:54hatred projected through an intense

26:55glare that blisters skin and ignites

26:58flesh. You don't need to raise a hand,

27:00you just stare at someone and their body

27:02starts to burn until they die, which is,

27:05you know, not ideal for the person being

27:07stared at. Here's the thing, deadly

27:09sight is fueled entirely by raw fury and

27:12hatred channeled through the user's

27:14gaze. [music] There's zero finesse

27:16involved. You're essentially weaponizing

27:18your own anger through eye contact and

27:21the results are about as controlled as

27:24you'd expect from something powered by

27:26[music] pure rage. For most of Sith

27:28history, this technique was extremely

27:30rare. Even dark side practitioners

27:33looked at this one and said, "That seems

27:35excessive." It was primarily associated

27:37with Emperor Palpatine himself and the

27:39Jedi Order naturally condemned it, which

27:41feels redundant since no Jedi should be

27:44channeling that much hatred through

27:45their eyeballs anyway. Even for a Sith

27:47Lord, deadly sight is a commitment. It

27:49demands enormous dark side energy and

27:52sustained concentration, so you get

27:54[music] a few seconds of terrifying eye

27:56contact murder, then you're running on

27:57fumes. But if you think killing someone

27:59with a glare is dark, wait until you

28:01hear about the Sith who figured out how

28:03to [music] steal someone's entire body

28:06just to avoid dying, essence transfer.

28:08[music] This is the big one, the final

28:10boss of dark side abilities. Essence

28:13transfer is exactly [music] what it

28:14sounds like. You rip your consciousness

28:17out of your own body and shove it into

28:19someone else's, which is, you know, not

28:21ideal for the person already living in

28:23that body. Ancient Sith Lords used this

28:26technique to cheat death over and over

28:28again, haunting their tombs for

28:29centuries and possessing anyone unlucky

28:32enough to stumble across their

28:33sarcophagi. If the invading

28:35consciousness was powerful enough, it

28:37could straight up override and expel the

28:39original mind. Your body's not yours

28:42anymore, you're just gone. Here's the

28:44kicker, though, the the

28:45own body disintegrates [music] when the

28:47power is invoked. One-way ticket every

28:50single time. But the most ambitious

28:52practitioners figured out the ultimate

28:54workaround. They combined essence

28:56transfer with advanced cloning

28:58technology, hopping from body to body

29:00across generations. Immortality through

29:02an endless supply of spare vessels. Not

29:05exactly the noble path to transcending

29:07death that the Jedi had in mind, but

29:09effective. And that's every force

29:11ability in Star [music] Wars. From

29:13pushing rocks with your mind to

29:15literally stealing someone's body to

29:17live forever. [music]

29:18The force is somehow both a beautiful

29:19cosmic energy field and the most

29:21terrifying weapon in the galaxy,

29:23depending entirely on who's using it.
