0:18What does social listening and steam

0:21trains have in common?

0:24Not much, but let's get on to this

0:26episode.

0:27>> Okay. Bit of a um special one for you

0:30today as we're heading down to London to

0:35meet up with the team. Bit of an offsite

0:37and I've arrived at the train station a

0:40little bit early. And look at this for a

0:42scenic train station. I mean,

0:46this is me doing a bit of work.

0:507:45

0:53nice and empty. And yeah,

0:57the

0:59whole team is coming down to London,

1:01which is pretty cool. So, we've got

1:02Pers, Morgan, and Hugo all descending

1:05into London. But we've got quite a few

1:07workshops planned just to get us prepped

1:09for Q4 and get us prepped for the big

1:11launch that's coming up.

1:13>> You can sort out You can edit with HD.

1:18>> Cheers.

1:19>> All right, guys. We made it. We're here.

1:22Morgan's gone to get some food. is very

1:23concerned about how he looks being in

1:26London, but we're here for the offsite.

1:28I've uh left my camera in the car and so

1:31now we're filming off the phone for the

1:32next 3 days, which I'm really annoyed

1:35about, so apologies if the quality is

1:37bad. You also missed a great intro that

1:39I filmed earlier on the weekend where I

1:41was on a steam train.

1:42>> That would have been

1:44>> would have been good, wouldn't it?

1:45Anyway, keep you updated of what's going

1:47on over the next couple of days as we go

1:50over a load of sessions in our London

1:52offsite. We're going to be a dog at that

1:53point.

1:55>> Those are great.

1:56>> Biscuits. Biscuits are going to be huge.

2:00>> When you're editing this, we need noise

2:03like music to voice over.

2:07[Music]

2:13>> So, here you go. Summarize day one of

2:15the offsite.

2:16>> Day one's been very powerful. Um, thanks

2:18to the tube strike, half the team didn't

2:20show up till about midway through the

2:21afternoon. Um,

2:23>> but apart from that, it's been quite

2:24successful, hasn't it, peers,

2:26>> Morgan?

2:27>> Successful day. I quite like just like

2:30Yeah, it's just easy to get stuff done.

2:32>> Yeah, nice. Welcome Morgan to the vlog.

2:34There he is.

2:34>> What are you doing with the Why is this

2:36building up like that?

2:37>> As always, providing valuable content.

2:40>> So, today we went through three

2:42different sessions. First one was on the

2:44vision, working out the north star.

2:46Yeah,

2:47>> we really focused on this one after a

2:48good podcast, didn't we? There's the CMO

2:51of Meta.

2:53>> No, no, we're talking about vision

2:54workshop. Don't worry, Pizzy.

2:56>> And then we were just trying to

2:57ascertain what is our northstar. So, we

2:58keep the product development on track

3:00and on focus. So, every time we're

3:02thinking about a feature, we reference

3:04back to that. And then the second one

3:06was on um the product roadmap then

3:08itself. So, talking about short-term

3:10focus versus long-term, contingency

3:13plans, all of the above, whether we are

3:16B2B, B2C, the channels that we're going

3:18to be monitoring for social listening,

3:20how we can crush these pathetic other

3:23social listening tools. No, I kid, but

3:25these are other legacy social listening

3:27tools. And I think

3:29>> I think we got some um exciting stuff

3:30coming up. And then we had a a founders

3:31chat. So, all in all, good little

3:34session today. Tomorrow we have a

3:36cultural

3:37>> culture session. culture session

3:39>> to define winning define winning a team.

3:41Then we have a product marketing session

3:44and then we have a growth and more

3:46generalized marketing session the

3:47following day as well. So tonight we are

3:50going to go off now first of all we're

3:52going to finish our beer have a little

3:53look at the sites off to a restaurant

3:54have some food

3:55>> host this evening and

3:56>> pass this evening because this guy got

3:59his braces done and so we can't have a

4:01bar barbecue drive

4:02>> braces.

4:04Then back to the hotel. Little communal

4:07me and Hugo sharing a room.

4:09>> And uh we'll get a little footage of

4:11that for you

4:13>> and then on to tomorrow.

4:18[Music]

4:27>> So run me through your order options

4:29today. Hugo

4:31car.

4:34He goes in for the carbonar and

4:36bruschetta. I've gone for the papadelli

4:39and toasted salad over bread with some

4:42nice meats on top.

4:46There he is

4:49there tonight. And then we're going to

4:50go to the hotel. Me and Hug are going to

4:52snuggle up

4:54and discuss. Currently we're discussing

4:57rogue marketing strategies. The rogue in

5:00the better,

5:01>> which we won't air on here because some

5:03are too rogue. But we're wondering where

5:05the line

5:06>> particularly rude.

5:08>> Yeah, we're wondering where the line is

5:10and then where we can cleverly go just

5:13under that line to make a to make an

5:16impact. Cut through the noise. Right.

5:19Right.

5:21Good morning all. Well, turns out I did

5:24actually remember my camera. Yesterday

5:27we filmed everything on the phone. So,

5:29if you're wondering what the quality

5:30difference is between the phone and a

5:32DJI Osmo Pocket, you'll now know. I

5:36didn't know if there is much, but

5:37anyway, it was in my bag. I thought I

5:39left it in a taxi cab. I didn't. So, it

5:42is Wednesday morning. Um, today we have

5:45some more I guess less fluffy sessions.

5:49Yesterday was obviously on vision and on

5:52product kind of road map. Today is more

5:54okay how can we actually execute so what

5:57is our product marketing strategy what

5:59is going to be our marketing strategy

6:01how can we cut through the noise with

6:03some against the grain campaigns let's

6:05say what is our sales strategy what what

6:08roles do we potentially need to hire for

6:10when do we need to hire for them um what

6:14are the the kind of levers that would

6:16say okay now we need to hire for someone

6:18so on and so on anyway I have a

6:21triathlon coming up in two weeks So, I'm

6:24going to get out this morning. I'm going

6:25to get a run in and then I'm going to

6:26get a gym session in with the team. So,

6:28we'll go run now before everyone's up

6:30and then get a gym session with them and

6:32get started with the day.

6:38[Music]

7:10Okay, so we just had a productive day.

7:14We did um some product marketing

7:16elements. I think there's a really

7:18interesting use case to potentially make

7:19some role position switches in the team

7:22and that would be searching for a new

7:24head of marketing or head of growth and

7:26moving peers into more of a head of

7:28product growth position responsible for

7:32all kind of PLG elements product

7:34marketing things like that. So that

7:36could mean that we're going out to

7:38market to hire and find

7:39>> marketing a new very exciting marketing

7:42person which I think would be like the

7:44dream job for most marketeteers. It's

7:45like, hey, we're not fearless in doing

7:47any campaigns. The bolder the better. We

7:49want to spend money on big campaigns,

7:52big like fun events. Like, we just want

7:54to give you the budget and have that

7:56creativity with it. The only ask for us

7:58is you're not afraid to put yourself out

8:00there. You're not afraid to make

8:01mistakes and you're not afraid to post

8:03on LinkedIn,

8:04>> post on LinkedIn or or on YouTube or on

8:06any social for that matter. And then we

8:08just had a really good culture workshop.

8:10So, we actually followed a framework

8:11that a chap called Circl Wood came up

8:14with. So for those of you that are

8:16American and don't know him, he's the

8:18chap who coached the England rugby team

8:20to World Cup. We broke it down into

8:22three components. Distill, which is

8:24distill the winning behaviors that we

8:26exhibit as a winning team. And so that

8:29was discover. And then distill was take

8:31those winning elements and distill them

8:33down into five or four. We did four in

8:36the end, right? Core laws. And so the

8:39the laws that like we need to uphold as

8:42a team for us are

8:45PMA, so positive mental attitude in

8:46everything we do. We noticed that we

8:48could be quite negative, focus more on

8:50the the negative as a business, data

8:52driven, fearless, and self- disciplined

8:55as as well. And then basically we then

8:58focus on the do component which is like

8:59how can we hold each other accountable

9:03for said rules as well. on. So then if

9:06we hold each other accountable, you

9:08know, and for example, I left the road

9:10like how could anyone in the team hold

9:12someone else accountable regardless of

9:14the job title. And then if we do that

9:15enough, that starts to distill down into

9:17the into the culture because culture

9:19isn't just about saying, "Hey, we are

9:21this." Culture is actually doing and

9:23breathing and living those behavioral

9:25traits. And so that's what we focused on

9:26today with that culture one. And then we

9:28had a good marketing session.

9:29>> It was a good marketing session. We've

9:30got some nice ideas. Yeah. Some fun

9:32ideas. Slightly rogue.

9:34>> Something I've never seen on LinkedIn

9:35before.

9:36>> He's gonna push the button.

9:39>> I love it. I hate him.

9:40>> And now we're off to film some podcast

9:43sessions in the podcast studio.

9:46>> Yeah. Content on content. Content on
