1:50>> So the Sheikh Rahimullah Ta'ala
1:54He mentions and he says
1:56that the categories of shirk are three.
2:00So,
2:01if you remember not last week's lesson,
2:03the week before, we did tawhid
2:06and aksam al-tawhid.
2:10And now,
2:11we're going to look at the opposite of
2:14tawhid.
2:16And I've explained this before, I'll
2:18explain it again, that things and
2:20matters are known by its opposites.
2:23Right? So, if you study
2:26Islam, the reason why I'm saying this is
2:28because someone comes to you here, "Why
2:30do you teach the people shirk?
2:32Like, why do you explain what is shirk?
2:34We all Muslim. We all believe in one
2:37Allah."
2:38But things are known by its opposites.
2:41So, let's look at an example.
2:45Do you just study wudu, or do you study
2:47what breaks your wudu as well?
2:50>> Breaks your wudu.
2:51>> Right? You study what breaks your wudu.
2:53When you study salah,
2:55you study what breaks your salah as
2:56well.
2:57Right? So, it's opposites.
2:59But when it comes to tawhid,
3:01then they say, "No, no, no, no, you just
3:03teach the people tawhid. Why you want to
3:04teach the people about shirk?"
3:07But you need to know. So, the same
3:09thing.
3:09When you speak about innovations, when
3:11you speak about bid'ah, then they tell
3:13you, "No, no, you mustn't speak about
3:14bid'ah."
3:15But in order to know the sunnah, you
3:17need to know what is bid'ah.
3:20Right? You have a child.
3:22Right?
3:23Do you just teach the child one thing,
3:25or do you teach him the opposite of that
3:27also?
3:28Right?
3:29You teach him, for example, this is hot.
3:32Right? You teach him the opposite, which
3:33is cold.
3:35And like that, that's how he learns. So,
3:36humans is like that, that you learn
3:39the opposites as well.
3:42So, Allah, or before we get to the ayah,
3:45so Sheikh Rahimullah wa Ta'ala, he says
3:48that the categories of shirk are three.
3:51Major shirk, minor shirk, and hidden
3:54shirk.
3:56Major shirk necessitates that
3:59all of the deeds of a person
4:02they are nullified.
4:04And he will remain in the fire of
4:07Jahannam
4:08forever if he dies upon that.
4:11Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says
4:20in surat ul An'am.
4:22Allah says, "But if they had joined in
4:25worship
4:27others with Allah,
4:29then know that all that they used to do
4:32would have been of no benefit
4:35to them."
4:37Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he also says
4:54"That it is not for the mushrikun
4:57hypocrites
4:59to maintain the masajid
5:02the houses of Allah whilst they witness
5:05against themselves with disbelief.
5:10And the works of such are in vain
5:13and in fire
5:16shall they abide." This is in surah
5:19Tawbah.
5:21And the shaikh he says
5:22that whosoever dies upon this will not
5:25be forgiven. Paradise will be forbidden
5:28for him.
5:29As Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says
5:39"That indeed Allah forgives not
5:42that indeed Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
5:46does not forgive someone that describes
5:48partners with him. That makes with
5:50him. Why you all feeling mad doing that
5:53but he forgives
5:55anything else.
5:57So any other form of sin
6:00Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
6:03he will forgive.
6:04So a person for example
6:07he
6:09was involved in fornication. He never
6:11made taubah.
6:12And he passed away in the state
6:14while still being someone that makes
6:16zina.
6:18So is that major sin?
6:20And he's a Muslim.
6:22So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala might find
6:24it fit that will feel that he is still
6:27goes to Jahannam.
6:28But he will come out of Jahannam.
6:33But as for someone that commits shirk
6:36with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
6:39and he dies upon the shirk
6:43then he doesn't come out of Jahannam.
6:47So this is what this verse means.
6:49Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala also says
6:52Innahu may you shirk billah faqad haram
6:55Allahu alaihi Jannah wa ma'wa hunnar wa
6:58ma liz zalimin min
7:00ansar. That indeed whosoever sets up
7:04partners in worship with Allah they
7:08ascribe worship they ascribe partners
7:11with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala they know
7:14that Allah has forbidden paradise for
7:18them.
7:20And that the fire will be his abode. And
7:23for the wrongdoers there is no helpers.
7:28And then the Sheikh rahimahullah ta'ala
7:29he says and from the categories of major
7:32shirk is supplicating to the deceased
7:36as well as idols and seeking relief from
7:39them, vowing to them, sacrificing to
7:42them, and the likes.
7:45Tayyib.
7:48So, as I mentioned
7:49few moments ago, that we've learned what
7:52is tawhid.
7:54And we understood that tawhid can be
7:57divided into three categories. Tawhid
8:00al- uluhiyyah, tawhid ar-rububiyyah, and
8:03tawhid al-asma wa sifat.
8:06And this is proven from the book of
8:07Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, the Quran.
8:10And from the Sunnah of Rasulullah
8:12sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
8:16And we also learned from that, and we
8:19discussed it,
8:20that each of those categories, there's
8:23an opposite to it. There's something
8:25that opposes it. So, therefore, if
8:29tawhid is of three categories, then
8:31shirk is also of three categories.
8:35Shirk in the Lordship,
8:37shirk in worship, and shirk in al-asma
8:41wa sifat.
8:43And here the Shaykh rahimahullah ta'ala,
8:46he also mentions other categories of
8:48shirk,
8:49which relates to major and minor shirk.
8:55So, he says, or he categorized it into
8:59major, minor, and ash-shirk al-khafi,
9:03the hidden shirk.
9:06Which shall be clarified as we move on
9:09in the class bi idhnillahi ta'ala.
9:14So,
9:17someone might ask,
9:19is shirk al-khafi, is hidden shirk, a
9:21separate category?
9:24Or
9:25is it a description of the other two?
9:28And the reason for this being called
9:30hidden shirk will also be explained
9:32later on bi idhnillahi ta'ala.
9:36As for major and minor shirk, they
9:40differ in terms of
9:42the prescribed punishment and the
9:46rulings.
9:47As for shirk akbar, major shirk,
9:51it is to make other than Allah subhanahu
9:56wa ta'ala equal to Allah subhanahu wa
9:59ta'ala in anything from the rights of
10:03Allah.
10:05Huquq Allah from the rights of Allah
10:08subhanahu wa ta'ala. Whosoever
10:12makes other than Allah similar to him in
10:15any of his rights has taken this person
10:18or thing as a partner and a rival with
10:23Allah azza wa jal.
10:26Therefore,
10:27shirk
10:28is to make rivals with Allah who
10:31subhanahu wa ta'ala.
10:34And for this reason, Allah subhanahu wa
10:37ta'ala
10:38mentioned that when the disbelievers
10:41enter the fire of Jahannam,
10:45when they enter the fire of Jahannam,
10:48they will say,
10:50Tallah in kunnalafi dalalim mubin.
10:54Iznu say Iznu
10:59So we kun bi rabbin
11:01alamin.
11:03That by Allah,
11:05they qasam Tallah
11:08We were truly
11:11in open error,
11:13in open astrayness,
11:15when we held
11:18the false gods
11:20as equals with the Lord of that all that
11:24exists.
11:27So this
11:28yani is
11:30shirk.
11:31To make other than Allah equal with
11:34Allah. Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala also
11:37says, "Wa min an-nasi man yattakhizu min
11:40dunillahi andada yuhibbunahum
11:44kahubbillah."
11:46And of mankind,
11:48there are some who take for worship
11:50others besides Allah as their rivals to
11:54Allah. They love them as they love
11:57Allah.
12:00So they made their love for Allah equal
12:04to their love
12:06for others.
12:08And shirk
12:10is
12:11revilement.
12:13It is to take rivals and partners with
12:17Allah.
12:18Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he says also
12:22in Surat al-Baqarah, many of us are
12:24familiar with this verse or part of this
12:27verse, "Fa la taj'alu lillahi andada wa
12:31antum
12:32ta'lamun."
12:34That then do not set up rivals with
12:36Allah azza wa jalla in al-ibadah.
12:40Whiles you know.
12:43So this means yani setting up partners
12:46with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala giving
12:49them aspects of ibadah, of worship and
12:54rights which belongs only to Allah
12:56subhanahu wa ta'ala rabbul izzati wal
13:00jalal.
13:01And it is also to make others equal with
13:04Allah. Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says,
13:07"Thumma alladhina kafaru bi rabbihim
13:10ya'dilun." That yet those who
13:13disbelieve, they hold others equal
13:17as equal with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
13:21So they make other than Allah
13:25equal with Allah.
13:27And they make other than him similar to
13:31to him.
13:33And this is major shirk, which removes
13:36someone out of the fold of Islam.
13:39So, it is compulsory, and it is wajib
13:43upon the Muslim to fear shirk for
13:46himself with a tremendous fear
13:49more than he fears anything else.
13:52And this fear
13:54necessitates
13:55that he takes precautions from falling
13:58into it. And part of taking precaution
14:02of falling into something is by knowing
14:04what is that thing.
14:06Right?
14:08Do you not tell someone, or you have a
14:10young child,
14:12I think it's teenagers, do you not tell
14:14him drugs is wrong?
14:16And then you explain to him the effects
14:18of drugs. Yes or no?
14:20>> No.
14:23>> So, why are you teaching him something
14:24negative?
14:25You don't teach him something negative.
14:26Leave it.
14:29Right?
14:31You get what I'm saying?
14:32So, there's no need to teach him.
14:35Right? You just tell him, "No, my boy,
14:36you must be a good boy." Tell him, "You
14:37must sit to come."
14:38Fasting in the month of Ramadan.
14:41Hm? Be good to your parents.
14:44But now, what do you teach them as well?
14:46That there's evil out there.
14:48Right? Don't drink.
14:52Don't do drugs.
14:53Don't gamble.
14:56But when it comes to shirk, no, no, no,
14:57you mustn't teach your people about
14:59shirk.
15:00Right?
15:01And this is what the people out there
15:03are saying.
15:04People wearing the garbs of ulama coming
15:07out of institutes.
15:09And this is what they preach.
15:11That no, no, you mustn't talk about
15:12shirk.
15:15But in order to understand what is
15:18tawhid, you must know what is shirk.
15:20And you must have this fear for shirk as
15:22well in you. And you as well in you. And
15:26you must be able to take the precautions
15:28that you yourself do not fall into
15:31shirk.
15:34And this is what
15:35he says, "Just as a person takes means
15:38to protect himself
15:41when he fears something."
15:45Why do you put burglar bars in your
15:46house?
15:50Why do you have a lot of system
15:53in your car, in your house?
15:56>> Safety.
15:57>> For safety. You're taking precautions.
15:59All right.
16:01All right.
16:05If a person has food,
16:07he walks into a shop, he wants to buy
16:09something.
16:10Is he going to ask is the food halal?
16:13Yes.
16:13>> Yes.
16:14>> He's going to go look for that
16:15certificate.
16:17He's not just going to go buy. He's
16:19taking precautions.
16:24Some people when it comes to
16:26the cold months, when it comes to
16:27winter,
16:29they take precautions.
16:31Start drinking like a
16:32Like as you say, as I was talking now
16:34before Maghrib about the ginger and the
16:36garlic mix. He's
16:39Like some people they take a
16:42injection before winter.
16:45Some people they Whatever. But they're
16:48taking precautions.
16:53So, is it not correct
16:56that the greatest protection during
16:59our lives is to protect ourselves
17:03from shirk?
17:05It's the greatest.
17:07And
17:10we must be meticulous
17:12in protecting ourselves from falling
17:14into it.
17:18>> Type.
17:20So, surely
17:22the one who knows shirk
17:24and knows
17:26the evils of shirk
17:28will have tremendous fear for himself,
17:31for his family, for his close relatives,
17:34and for his friends.
17:36And for the ummah at large.
17:40Because Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala, he
17:42says, quoted the verse earlier on,
17:45that indeed Allah forgives not that
17:47partner should be set up with him in
17:49worship, but he forgives everything else
17:53to whom he pleases.
17:55So, here
17:58we find that the prophet Sallallahu
18:00Alaihi Wasallam, he informs us in a
18:02Hadith and he says,
18:03man mata
18:06wa wa ya da'u min duni lahi nidda
18:10da khalan nar.
18:14That
18:15whoever dies
18:17whilst invoking anything other than
18:20Allah as a rival to Allah
18:24will enter the
18:26fire of Jahannam.
18:29This person will enter the fire once his
18:31soul leaves his body.
18:32For this reason, the scholars have said
18:34that the fire
18:36is extremely close to the mushrik.
18:40Nothing is between him and the fire
18:43except for his soul
18:46to leave his body, and then he will
18:48enter it. The first fire he will
18:50experience will be in his qabr, in his
18:53grave. Thus, his grave will be a pit of
18:56fire.
18:57Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala, he says
19:01to the followers of Firaun,
19:03an naru yu'raduna alaiha
19:08ghuduwwa wa ashiya.
19:11That the fire they are exposed to it
19:15morning
19:16and afternoon.
19:18Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is clarified.
19:22He has made it clear that the one who
19:24dies upon shirk and disbelief has
19:28absolutely no hope of mercy or
19:31forgiveness.
19:33Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
19:37He mentions
19:38and he says
19:53wa hum yastarihuna
19:58fiha
19:59Rabbana akhrijna na'mal salihan
20:03ghayralladhi kunna na'mal.
20:07Awalam nu'ammirkum
20:09ma yatadhakkaru fihi man tadhakkara wa
20:13ja'akum
20:15wa ja'akum
20:17al-nadhir fadhūqū famā lil-ẓālimīna
20:22min naṣīr.
20:24Allah says in Surah Fatir
20:26that but those who disbelieve
20:29for them will be the fire of Jahannam.
20:32Neither will it have a complete killing
20:34effect on them
20:36so that they die, nor shall its torment
20:40be lightened
20:42for them.
20:43Thus, do we requite every disbeliever.
20:48Therein they will cry, "Our Lord, bring
20:52us out.
20:54We shall do righteous deeds."
20:56But what they say in Afrikaans, "Spyt is
20:58te laat."
21:00Mhm?
21:02All right. It's finished now. You can't
21:04come back.
21:07So, what do they say?
21:08Bring us out. We shall do righteous
21:11deeds.
21:13Not the evil deeds that we used to do.
21:15Allah Azzawajal will reply to them.
21:18Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala will say,
21:21"Did we not give you lives long enough
21:25so that who soever would receive
21:28admonition could receive it?
21:31And the warner came to you. So, taste
21:34the evil of your deeds."
21:38So, now you must face the reality.
21:41You didn't obey Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala.
21:43You ascribed partners with Allah. You
21:45made dua to other than Allah. So, now
21:48you must taste of your evil deeds. For
21:51the wrongdoers, there is no help.
21:55There's no helper.
21:58So, this means that
22:03Right? So, this means
22:07that
22:08they're going to be in Jahannam.
22:12And they're going to be there forever.
22:15They would also try
22:17to ask Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala
22:20that just give us respite.
22:23Right? Grant us respite.
22:26Just let us come back to this dunya.
22:28We want to do good.
22:31But there's no more time.
22:33It's finished now. It's expired.
22:35Right? You can't come back.
22:39So,
22:40this means that
22:42all they will have on the day of
22:43judgment is the fire of Jahannam.
22:47They will
22:48ask to be removed
22:51from it
22:52so that they can do other acts
22:55than the shirk and disbelief they did in
22:57this world.
22:58But they were wrongdoers.
23:00Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala,
23:03when he also speaks about shirk and he
23:05describes shirk in the Quran in Surat
23:07al-Luqman,
23:08Allahu subhanahu wa ta'ala says, "Inna
23:11shirka lazulmun azeem."
23:15That indeed
23:17joining others in worship with Allah is
23:20the
23:21great oppression indeed.
23:25What is zulm?
23:26What is oppression?
23:28Oppression is wad'u shay'in
23:31fi ghayri mahallih.
23:34It is to place something
23:37in something that it's not supposed to
23:39be.
23:40Right?
23:42This bottle,
23:44right?
23:46It's what? 500 mils?
23:48500? Yeah, it's 500.
23:51Can I put a liter in here?
23:55And if I try to put a liter in,
23:57then this is zulm.
24:00This is oppressing
24:02the bottle.
24:03So, it's putting something in here
24:06that is not supposed to
24:08be in there.
24:10So, this is zulm.
24:12You
24:14ascribing a partner to Allah or a rival
24:17to Allah who subhanahu wa ta'ala.
24:22So, consequently, the person who dies as
24:26a polytheist, as a mushrik or
24:29disbeliever, will have nothing except
24:31the fire
24:33and they will abide
24:35therein forever and ever.
24:40Also know that the punishment will never
24:42be lessened. Allahu subhanahu wa ta'ala
24:44says, "Wa la
24:47yukhaffafu 'anhum min 'adhabiha."
24:51Nor shall its torment be lightened for
24:54them.
24:55But the rather the punishment will
24:57increase.
24:58Fazuqu fa
25:03So taste.
25:06So taste
25:08the results of your evil actions.
25:11No increase shall
25:14we give you except in torment.
25:19And there's something for us also to
25:23just take note of.
25:24See what Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala says
25:26and this is of the
25:29beauty of the Quran.
25:31And it's balala.
25:34Allah says faluqu.
25:37So taste.
25:39Right?
25:40And we know taste
25:43is a great sensation, right?
25:45You taste something, taste nice, it
25:47taste sweet.
25:49Something maybe didn't taste nice, you
25:50pick it up immediately. The food is too
25:53salty, something is bitter, etc. So what
25:56does Allah tell them? Faluqu. So taste
25:59now.
26:00Right? Because of your evil, so taste
26:03it.
26:05And know
26:07that
26:09there won't be any increase except in
26:11your punishment.
26:13Type.
26:16And they will think or they will wish
26:19that their punishment
26:22can be lessened, but it won't be
26:25lessened.
26:26So all of this
26:28necessitates fear
26:30from shirk and warning against falling
26:33into it.
26:35And always seeking
26:37refuge
26:38in Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala. Wa Ta'ala.
26:43Ibrahim Al Khalil
26:46was one of the Imams of Ahlus Sunnah.
26:53Right.
26:54He said
26:58Right. Sorry,
26:59was Nabi Ibrahim.
27:02Right. I was thinking of
27:04Right. Nabi Ibrahim Khalilullah.
27:07Right. Abu Anbiya.
27:09He says and he makes dua
27:12in Surah Ibrahim.
27:15Waj janubni wa baniyya an na'budal
27:19asnam.
27:20Rabbi innahunna adlalna kathiran minan
27:25nas.
27:27So, this is a Nabi of Allah.
27:29And he makes dua and he invokes Allah
27:33and he says, "And keep me and my progeny
27:38away
27:41from worshipping idols.
27:44Oh my Lord, they have indeed led astray
27:48many amongst mankind."
27:51So, he's teaching us this dua as well.
27:54Make this dua for yourself and for your
27:58progeny because this is one of the
28:00protections,
28:02a protective measure from falling into
28:05shirk.
28:07Ibrahim at Taymi, who is from the Imams
28:10of the Salaf, he said,
28:12"Who is safe from tribulation after
28:16Ibrahim?"
28:18You understand what he's saying?
28:21He says if
28:23What he's meaning if this Nabi of Allah,
28:26if he made this dua, then what about
28:28myself and yourselves? What about us?
28:31Who are we?
28:34If a Nabi of Allah is asking Allah for
28:36protection for himself and his family,
28:39then what about myself?
28:40I'm just but a weak slave of Allah.
28:43Understood? [clears throat]
28:45Tayyib.
28:47So, Ibrahim alayhi salaam, he feared for
28:49himself and asked his Lord, "Keep me and
28:52my progeny away from worshipping idols."
28:57In other words, place me, oh Allah,
29:00grant for me, make me away far away from
29:04idols and worshipping idols. He made
29:08this dua to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
29:11From the supplications of Muhammad
29:14sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is that the
29:16prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam he
29:18would
29:20say three times in the morning and three
29:22times in the evening, "Allahumma, oh
29:25Allah, inni a'udhubika min al-kufri
29:28wal-faqri."
29:30"Allahumma inni a'udhubika min adhab
29:33al-qabri. La ilaha illa anta."
29:37"Oh Allah, I seek refuge in you from
29:40disbelief and poverty. Oh Allah, I seek
29:43refuge in you from the punishment of the
29:45grave. There is no deity worthy of
29:48worship except for you, oh Allah."
29:52And
29:54we find that
29:56there's been authenticated that he
29:58sallallahu alayhi wa sallam used to say
30:01in his dua, "Allahumma laka aslamtu wa
30:05bika amantu wa alayka tawakkaltu wa
30:08ilayka anabtu wa bika khasamt. Allahumma
30:13inni a'udhu
30:16bi izzatika la ilaha illa anta anta
30:21dhillani antal hayyul ladhi la yamutu
30:26wal-jinnu wal-insu yamutun."
30:29He used to say sallallahu alayhi wa
30:31sallam, "Oh Allah, to you I surrender
30:34myself. In you I affirm my faith and in
30:38you I place my trust. To you I turn in
30:41repentance and with your help I fight my
30:45adversaries. Oh Allah, I seek refuge
30:50in you with your power. There is no
30:52deity worthy of worship except you, lest
30:55you should lead me astray. You are the
30:57ever-living who does not die whilst the
31:00jinn and mankind dies.
31:03And the prophet Sallallahu alayhi
31:05wasallam, he used to often make this
31:07dua. Ya Muqallibal Quloob, Thabbit Qalbi
31:11Ala Deenik. Oh changer of the hearts,
31:15make my heart firm upon your religion.
31:20And in the Quran, Allah Subhanahu Wa
31:22Ta'ala reminds us and says also a dua,
31:25Rabbana La Tuzigh Quloobana Ba'da Idh
31:29Hadaytana Wahab Lana Min Ladunka Rahmah.
31:34A dua that many of us grew up with, many
31:36of us know.
31:37Oh our Lord Rabbana, La Tuzigh
31:39Quloobana, let our hearts not deviate
31:43Ba'da Idh Hadaytana
31:46after you have guided us, Wahab Lana
31:50Min Ladunka Rahmah.
31:52And grant us from you mercy.
31:56So
31:57here we understand and we learn that the
32:01prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam
32:03he would also make certain duas
32:08as a precautionary manner.
32:10We find that the prophet, peace be upon
32:11him, he said La Taqoomus Sa'atu Hatta
32:15Talhaqa
32:16Qabailum Min Ummati Bil Mushrikeen Wa
32:20Hatta Ta'buda Qabailum Min Ummati
32:24Awthan.
32:26The last hour will not come before the
32:28tribes of my ummah attach themselves to
32:31the polytheists and the tribes of my
32:33ummah worship idols.
32:37Also comes in another Hadith that the
32:39prophet Sallallahu alaihi wasallam he
32:41said
32:52The hour will not begin until the
32:55backsides of women, the behinds of women
32:58of those wobble as they go around
33:03Khalasah.
33:04So this means they will go back to
33:06worshipping idols. Zul Khalasah is an
33:09idol that was worshipped during the
33:11times of Jahiliyyah.
33:13And the prophet Sallallahu alaihi
33:15wasallam
33:16he also
33:19he mentioned to us in the Hadith and he
33:21said
33:23>> [clears throat]
33:32[clears throat]
33:38>> And if we can do this translation now
33:41and think of the words of Rasulullah
33:44Sallallahu alaihi wasallam. He says
33:47you will surely tread the same path as
33:50those before you inch by inch and step
33:54by step.
33:57And don't we see this today?
34:00Don't we see this today?
34:02We do. So I'll give you an example.
34:06I I think all of us here we grew up in
34:07Cape Town, right?
34:09Except for say Sheikh Sulaiman.
34:11And
34:13right, many of us were exposed to
34:18what they call the Groot Anna.
34:20Mhm, the big nights.
34:23So like for example this last night was
34:25the 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal here and was
34:27Mawlid. It was supposed to be another
35:18>> Right, so
35:20So, growing up, yeah,
35:22what did
35:24And maybe even the older people in
35:27class,
35:28I can comment. What did
35:31>> [clears throat]
35:32>> Yeah, what was Mawlid consisted of those
35:35years?
35:37Like those years, like in you
35:40people grew up.
35:42It wasn't a big night.
35:45Okay.
35:50Okay, and other people?
35:54It's just like a talk.
35:57Oh, okay. Alhamdulillah.
35:59Right, so I remember like I mean growing
36:01up it was just a talk.
36:05And
36:07yeah,
36:08that was basically
36:12And I think in the Madrasah they used to
36:13give you sweets
36:15Yeah, I think they used to give sweets
36:16and stuff like that. That was
36:23But now, like it's like gone on
36:25steroids.
36:27Right? So,
36:29but my point is that I'm trying to get
36:30to see the Hadith
36:32that you're going to start following
36:33them
36:34like these lights, putting up the
36:35lights. Where did it come from?
36:38Christmas.
36:39Mhm?
36:41So, you're going to follow them
36:44step by step.
36:45Handspan by handspan.
36:47But,
36:49so
36:51the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam,
36:53he also said that indeed shirk amongst
36:56you is more hidden than the crawling
36:59ant.
37:01And this
37:03example that he gives of a crawling ant,
37:05he said that it is more hidden than a
37:08crawling ant.
37:10So, when you are sitting and an ant
37:12crawls besides him,
37:14he doesn't actually notice this ant
37:16crawling.
37:17So, now the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi
37:18wasallam said shirk is more hidden
37:20than that.
37:21And this is why it's important as we
37:23learned from the Adhkar and the Ad'iyah
37:26and the supplications that we protect
37:28ourselves from this.
37:31Tayyib.
37:35The Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam,
37:40he also says to us in a Hadith,
37:43Awala adullukum ala shay'in, shall I
37:46direct direct you to something?
37:49Idha
37:50qultumuhu
37:52that if
37:53you say it,
37:56adh-haballahu ankum qalilash-shirk wa
37:59kathir,
38:00that Allah will remove from you the
38:02small amount of shirk
38:03and the large amount of shirk. Qalu bala
38:07ya Rasulallah. The Sahabah said that
38:10most definitely, of course, O Messenger
38:12of Allah. The Prophet Sallallahu alayhi
38:14wasallam, he said,
38:17Allahumma inna na'udhubika min an
38:20nushrika bika shay'a ta'lamuhu,
38:31>> [snorts]
38:31>> The prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam
38:34he said to them
38:36say oh Allah indeed we seek refuge in
38:39you from associating anything with you
38:42whilst we know and we seek forgiveness
38:46from you from that which we do not know.
38:53And if we look at this narration
38:57and we ponder and we think about it. The
39:00prophet peace be upon him
39:02he entered upon the companions while
39:05they were discussing
39:07a tremendous
39:08tribulation and that were discussing the
39:11fitna of
39:13Masih ad-Dajjal
39:15which is the most dangerous and severe
39:17fitna.
39:19The prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam
39:22he then says to them
39:33Masih ad-Dajjal
39:50Nazari Rajuli
39:52The prophet peace be upon him he says
39:55shall I not inform you shall I not tell
39:57you shall I not teach you of what I fear
40:01more for you than Dajjal.
40:04The Sahaba said yes of course.
40:06The prophet peace be upon him he said
40:08the hidden shirk
40:10and then he gives an example Rasulullah
40:12Sallallahu alayhi wasallam he says like
40:14when a man stands to pray and he
40:17beautifies his prayer because he sees a
40:21man looking at him.
40:25All right? Ria.
40:27Showing off.
40:30And
40:33besides just making salah and someone
40:35showing you, we live
40:38in a worse time than that now today.
40:41With this.
40:44With this.
40:46Everything that certain people do it
40:48needs to be put out there.
40:51I come to a dance.
40:55Then I take a selfie of myself.
40:58Sitting in the class.
41:02Now, what is this?
41:05I'm
41:06posing the question though.
41:10Oh,
41:11you're taking the selfie.
41:13A video of yourself.
41:16And you're putting it on your status.
41:20What's this?
41:21>> Ria showing off.
41:23>> I didn't say that. You
41:25That it's
41:26it's ria.
41:30What else can it be?
41:33If you want to invite someone to a
41:34class, put up a poster.
41:37If you want to invite or you want to
41:39take something out of the class, why
41:40don't take a video of the
41:45But you're putting yourself up
41:48for what?
41:50So people can say, "Oh, mashallah, I I
41:52attended the class with her."
41:56Mashallah, they attended the class.
42:00Like nowadays, you find people they're
42:02giving food to the poor, but everything
42:04must be on social media. Am I right or
42:05wrong?
42:07Hm?
42:08People standing in a line.
42:11Okay.
42:12It's already
42:14It's already hard for those people
42:16living without food, without shelter.
42:19Then you still use them to boost your
42:20ego?
42:23You give them no
42:24back your acne again.
42:27So now you smile there.
42:30Right, where is the glass? Where is the
42:32sincerity? Yes, there is certain times
42:37when these things obviously maybe you
42:39have donors etc. And you know there is a
42:42lot of crooks also out there nowadays.
42:49I collect money for half a school but no
42:50half a school.
42:52>> [laughter]
42:54>> And the whole place laugh to say Right,
42:56it was just
42:58I don't mention the area and it was here
42:59in Cape Town.
43:00I was collecting
43:02with paper everything.
43:04When the donors came to see it was at
43:06the game shop.
43:08The games, you know those pool and like
43:11the games, man. Like Pac-Man and those
43:12things.
43:14So that was the
43:16So there wasn't even a madrasah.
43:20Right, so obviously these times for but
43:23I mean your donor your donor
43:25You don't need to look at your status,
43:27right?
43:28You can also send him the video
43:30for him to see.
43:32Understand? You get what I'm saying?
43:34But be aware and be careful of
43:38showing or sometimes the person his
43:39intention is not even to show but it can
43:41lead to that.
43:45Be very careful
43:47of
43:48is do. And if you really want to
43:50encourage your brother to come to a
43:51class, speak to him. Phone him. Go visit
43:54him.
43:56Share something that you learned and
43:57then you tell come next week.
44:00I don't suggest you
44:01I call
44:03I'm almost in for you.
44:05All right.
44:07Must way.
44:11So, the prophet said to him uh uh
44:14Right? He feared this way his ummah.
44:17He feared that a person would beautify
44:19his prayer.
44:20He would beautify his Hajj. Another
44:22example.
44:24In front of the Kaaba, subhanallah,
44:25selfie.
44:27Huh?
44:28And thing also that when studying in
44:30Medina, you would see this.
44:33Right? We We'd see this in the studying
44:35in the Masjid Nabawi.
44:37Right? After class, wait for salah, etc.
44:40And in this
44:41He said the guy come, he sits.
44:44His friend stand with the thing and the
44:45microphone.
44:47He's not making dua.
44:49But it's for the
44:51It's for the gram. You know, it's
44:53the youngsters they say for the gram.
44:55Huh? For Instagram.
44:57Huh? For the TikTok.
44:59For WhatsApp.
45:02All right.
45:04I mean, I've seen that um those have
45:05been for Umrah, you will also seen that
45:07recently. Person who makes tawaf around
45:09the Kaaba like this. Ooh.
45:12For what does he?
45:15I think if you going to take a photo of
45:17the Kaaba, no problem. You going to take
45:19a photo of
45:20Masjid Nabawi, there's no problem. You
45:22keep it to yourself.
45:24But why is there need to post it? Why is
45:26there need for you to be standing in the
45:28haram like this?
45:30The amount of time you waste, no,
45:31mashallah.
45:34Right? So, must be careful.
45:41Right? And then Sheikh Abdul Razzaq, he
45:42says that this issue has become more
45:44dangerous
45:45during our times. And see what the
45:47Sheikh says.
45:49Then it was in previous times because
45:52many of the people carry
45:54cell phones in their pockets.
45:57Right?
45:59And what do they do? They take pictures.
46:03And the shaking goes on to explain that
46:06the most important concern of many
46:08people while worshiping at
46:10the Haram of Mecca and in Medina or
46:13during other religious rites is to take
46:16a picture or video of themselves.
46:21And this is so others can see their
46:23worship.
46:26And in the shake he says that we have
46:28seen this and many people have seen this
46:31at various places, the places of dua and
46:35worship.
46:36They elevate their hands
46:38in appearance of someone supplicating.
46:42And [snorts] they perfect the
46:43appearance, then the picture is taken.
46:49I'm not saying this, I
46:51This is what the shake is saying.
46:53And I must remember the shake,
46:55he teaches twice a day.
46:58Like once a day, twice a day times in
47:00Masjid Nabawi. This is where he teaches.
47:02This is all his turus takes place in
47:04Masjid Nabawi. His father
47:07was a teacher in Masjid Nabawi.
47:10So who best to speak about this than
47:13someone that's actually witnessing it
47:15day in and
47:17day out?
47:18Type.
47:20So the warning is the shake he gives a
47:22stern warning about
47:27this.
47:32Type.
47:33Right, so this is
47:36with regards to
47:39Riya and the hidden
47:41shirk.
47:45Type.
47:52The prophet Sallallahu alaihi wasallam
47:58he also says to us
48:02I call for my I call for Allah ummati al
48:06immatul mudeleen.
48:08That the thing that I fear most
48:12for my ummah
48:14are the imams
48:15of
48:17misguidance.
48:18>> [clears throat]
48:21>> So now you would find that
48:24these type of imams
48:27>> [clears throat]
48:28>> they would tell the people
48:31take it easy.
48:33Relax.
48:34Shirk will not befall this ummah at all.
48:39Then they deceive the people by altering
48:42and changing the meanings of ahadith.
48:45So the people use the unclear narrations
48:49as proof whilst leaving the completely
48:52clear narrations.
48:57La taqumu sa'atun hatta ta'buda qabailu
49:02min ummatil awthan.
49:05I we narrated this hadith earlier.
49:08So what is clear from this
49:10that this is an authentic confirmed
49:14hadith
49:16but then they would abandon the clear
49:18text
49:21and go to an unclear text to use as
49:24proof.
49:26Where there's a hadith and they would
49:27say
49:28they use this hadith inna shaytan qad
49:31ya'isa ya'budahu musallun fi jaziratil
49:35Arab.
49:37That indeed the shaytan, like we going
49:39to expose you now, that indeed the
49:41shaytan
49:42has despaired
49:44of being worshipped by those who engage
49:46in prayer in the Arab peninsula. Like we
49:48going to carry on with this after Isha.
59:29>> Mhm.
1:04:44>> No.
1:04:45So,
1:04:47So,
1:04:48before we show in the later the Hadith,
1:04:51and
1:04:54So, then these types of Imams,
1:04:57they would say to the people that the
1:04:59Arabian Peninsula will never have shook
1:05:03in it.
1:05:04But, the Imam and the scholars,
1:05:07they have explained that this
1:05:09Hadith
1:05:11by saying that the Shaitan saw
1:05:15the strong Iman during the era of the
1:05:17companions
1:05:19and the devotion towards tawhid
1:05:24he [clears throat] despaired
1:05:26of being worshipped
1:05:27and he despaired that the faith of the
1:05:30people would go away.
1:05:32But there is never a time except
1:05:35that the time after it is more evil and
1:05:38each year will regress.
1:05:41Meaning that
1:05:44as time goes closer to Qiyama, it will
1:05:46become worse. You understand?
1:05:49So the situation will not remain the
1:05:50same, but rather people will continue
1:05:54to be upon misguidance as well and
1:05:57blocking the path to Allah Subhana Wa
1:06:00Ta'ala until a group from the Ummah will
1:06:03worship
1:06:04idols.
1:06:07And
1:06:09we find
1:06:11that how many people are involved in
1:06:14this
1:06:15and that the ignorant when it is said to
1:06:17them
1:06:19that shirk will never occur because of
1:06:22this, they feel no need to say
1:06:25Oh Allah, save us from shirk.
1:06:29But the reality is
1:06:31that as we mentioned at the start of the
1:06:33class and we looked at certain askar of
1:06:36the Prophet and certain dua the dua of
1:06:39Nabi Ibrahim
1:06:40that they took precautions for
1:06:42themselves and their families against
1:06:45this evil of shirk.
1:06:48Tayyib.
1:06:50And you'd find that from the affairs
1:06:53which necessitate fear
1:06:55from shirk and warning
1:06:58from taking precautions against it the
1:07:00fear a person has from shirk should be
1:07:03greater than his fear of anything else.
1:07:07So, anything else that you fear?
1:07:09The most important or the highest form
1:07:12of fear that you have is that you must
1:07:14have fear
1:07:15for shirk.
1:07:17And the ulama of this ummah, the
1:07:19scholars,
1:07:21may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala have mercy
1:07:23on them,
1:07:24they have said
1:07:27that how can someone protect himself
1:07:30from something when he does not know
1:07:33what he is protecting himself from?
1:07:37Right? And we alluded to this earlier
1:07:40on.
1:07:42Tayyib.
1:07:44And
1:07:45for this reason, one of the salaf,
1:07:48they said
1:07:49that in the definition of taqwa,
1:07:52that taqwa of Allah
1:07:54is working according
1:07:57to the obedience of Allah,
1:08:00right?
1:08:01Upon the light
1:08:03from Allah,
1:08:04and hoping for the reward from Allah,
1:08:09whilst abandoning
1:08:11disobedience to Allah,
1:08:14upon the light from Allah,
1:08:16and fearing the punishment
1:08:19of Allah.
1:08:22We find also
1:08:25that children
1:08:26should be taught
1:08:29what is tawhid
1:08:31as well and be warned what is shirk.
1:08:35When Luqman alayhis salaam,
1:08:37he said wa idh qala Luqman li ibnihi wa
1:08:41huwa ya'izuhu, "Ya bunayya, la tushrik
1:08:44billah. Inna shirka
1:08:47la zulmun."
1:08:48I'll read.
1:08:51That and remember when Luqman,
1:08:53when he said to his son,
1:08:55whilst advising him.
1:08:57And this was the first advice that he
1:08:59gave.
1:09:00"O my son,
1:09:02join not in worship others with Allah,
1:09:04for indeed joining others
1:09:06in worship with Allah subhanahu wa
1:09:09ta'ala is a great
1:09:11and wrong.
1:09:15Right? And we discussed that part of the
1:09:16ayah earlier on as well when we did inna
1:09:19zulm
1:09:20inna shirk zulm azim.
1:09:23Right?
1:09:25>> [snorts]
1:09:28>> And so we
1:09:30we can just stop over here.
1:09:33>> [clears throat]
1:09:33>> Right? And next week we're going to look
1:09:35at the inna shirk. He starts and he
1:09:37speaks about
1:09:39the three categories, major shirk, minor
1:09:42shirk, and
1:09:44hidden shirk.
1:09:45And so we ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
1:09:47to guide and protect us bi hadha qadar
1:09:49naktafi.
1:09:50Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa
1:09:53barakatuh.
