1:37bless you keep you firm and steadfast
1:39and protect you and allow this journey
1:42of yours to be blessed all the way
1:44through
1:46Allah inshallah T tonight dear brothers
1:48and sisters we're going to be continuing
1:50with the first and we're going to be
1:52speaking about the son of the Pharaoh of
1:56this umah and it's very interesting when
1:58you when you have someone who has such a
2:01prominent position in Islam as being the
2:05of this um and it shows you what the
2:07prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
2:09said that there are multiple pharaohs
2:12throughout history right you have the
2:14Pharaoh that we know you have the and
2:16then we have our as an um of Muhammad
2:19sallahu alai wasallam as a people and
2:22that of course was Abu
2:24jahal and we're going to be talking
2:26about his
2:27son but it's important to note that as
2:30time goes on as Generations go on you
2:33always have pharaohs and you always have
2:36tyrants and then you have Heroes that
2:37rise up against those tyrants and you
2:39have people that come from the
2:41households of those tyrants that turn
2:44out to be of the greatest heroes um and
2:47of those who carry and possess some of
2:49the greatest virtues in Islam and
2:52tonight as we talk about it's personally
2:55I'm going to say personally one of my
2:56favorite stories from the Companions and
2:58there are many of them that are like my
2:59favorite
3:00but I'll just tell you that uh if none
3:03of you name your kids after this then I
3:05I consider that I failed in properly
3:08conveying the virtue of this
3:10man many of you hear the
3:13name in the books of and this is not the
3:18same in the books of this is one of the
3:22great Companions of the Prophet
3:23sallallah alaihi wasallam who comes
3:26literally from the worst man in the S of
3:29the prophet sallallahu alai wasallam the
3:31ultimate villain in the life of the
3:33Prophet so he talks
3:37about a horrible human being who goes on
3:41to
3:42become the sword of Allah subhana tal we
3:44talked
3:48about such a horrible person that we
3:50could have spent a whole lecture just on
3:52the verses of Quran about him but
3:55tonight we talk about the son of Abu
3:58jahal and I literally I I have to say
4:00this if I was to talk about what aat
4:04what verses in the Quran speak about the
4:06evil of Abu jahal it literally would
4:08take me an hour why because
4:11ABD identifies over 80 verses 8 z 80
4:16verses in the Quran that were revealed
4:19in response to the evil and the tyranny
4:22of this particular man it's enough to
4:25say that in the first verse is revealed
4:29to the Prophet sallallahu alaihi
4:30wasallam Allah he
4:33says read in the name of your lord who
4:36creates that the second half of that
4:38Surah from verse 9 onwards is about Abu
4:41jahal actually speaks to the Pharaoh of
4:44this
4:47um do you see the one who forbids who
4:50forbids righteousness who Stomps on the
4:53necks of the Believers who breaks
4:54people's collar bones who murders people
4:57in the vicinity of the sacred
5:00who violates every single established
5:02Norm prior to Islam and after Islam his
5:05cultural and tribal Norms to oppress and
5:08to mutilate and to brutalize the prophet
5:12sallallahu alaihi wasallam and his
5:21companions do you see this person this
5:25person who forbids righteousness this
5:27person who denies Who Lies
5:31doesn't he know that Allah sees
5:36him Allah mentions that this is a person
5:39that's going to be seized by the forl a
5:42man who will pay for his sins because of
5:44the horrors then he inflicted on the
5:47prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam and
5:49the most vulnerable of the companions
5:50this was the man who took out the slaves
5:53who became Muslim in Mecca and created a
5:56torture camp for the public to see and
5:59who who took a spear and stuck it
6:02through the Aban woman to make an
6:05example out of her that tortured the
6:07slaves in public that called for people
6:11to humiliate the prophet Sall alaihi
6:12wasallam in every way that incited in
6:14every way the man who made life
6:16unbearable for Muslims in Mecca the man
6:19who actually started the boycott against
6:21the prophet s alaihi wasallam that led
6:23to the death
6:24of his wife and his uncle Abu Talib the
6:28man who sped the assassination of the
6:31Prophet sallai wasallam during the Hijra
6:32who came up with the master plan you
6:35know on how to kill the prophet
6:36sallallah wasam so this is a brutal
6:39Tyrant and I want you to imagine that in
6:43the background of this brutal Tyrant who
6:45is the chief of who the prophet wasam
6:48called the Pharaoh of this um is his
6:57son he was from the heads of the
7:00ignorant ones just like his father and
7:03he was the successor of his father so
7:05here's the scene I want you to play all
7:08of those scenes of Abu jahal oppressing
7:10the prophet spitting torturing killing
7:13and I want you to Imagine by his side
7:16assisting him in every way watching in
7:18every way because he was deemed the
7:21successor of Abu jahal meaning Abu jahal
7:24is the head of benum the the Rival tribe
7:28that wants to kill the prophets simply
7:30because he belongs to benu
7:31Hash is the son that is being groomed to
7:35be the successor the chief of benum so
7:38when Abu jahal presumably takes power in
7:41Mecca his son is the Crown Prince all
7:45right just to give you the visual
7:48there's also something else to keep in
7:49mind here the prophet s wasam saw
7:52something even in the Pharaoh of
7:54this what did the prophet s wasam see in
7:57Abu jahal what did he see in him anyone
8:01tell
8:02me no he saw positive things in him too
8:06he saw his potential to be a
8:08leader Prophet Salli wasallam made Dua
8:10oh Allah give Victory to Islam to the
8:13more beloved of the two to
8:16you
8:17or who is meaning the prophet recognized
8:21that this man is a leader if he changes
8:23his heart and if he takes that strength
8:27and he puts it to good use he could be
8:29one of the greatest leaders of the
8:31Muslims now here's the plot twist what
8:34the prophet s wasam saw in him if he
8:36would become Muslim would become the
8:38reality of almost two decades later CU
8:42had the qualities of his father he was
8:45big he was strong he was wise Abu jah's
8:49nickname was actually Abul ham the
8:51father of wisdom but he became the
8:53father of ignorance because of his blind
8:56rage towards the truth he was was
8:59eloquent when you saw you saw his father
9:02and Subhan Allah it's really interesting
9:04because Omar and Abu jahal right are
9:07pretty much the same prototype before
9:09Islam filters them
9:10out Omar had a son that was a copy of
9:13him Abdullah Omar Abu J had a son that
9:16was a copy of
9:17him right and out of these four the only
9:20one that's going to die in ignorance is
9:22going to be the father of ignorance who
9:24was given chance after chance and the
9:25prophet s alaihi wasallam was so patient
9:27with him for over a decade calling him
9:29to Islam calling him to stop his
9:32transgressions against the prophet
9:34sallallahu alaihi wasallam so here is
9:37growing up in this environment with his
9:39father the Pharaoh now I'm going to put
9:42up this chart really quick and this is
9:45going to be one of those things that the
9:46students who want to actually go back
9:48and and and look at the family tree
9:50inshallah can do so and appreciate B can
9:53we put it up okay I wanted to just put
9:55together a little chart that shows you
9:59the connection between and so there are
10:01other kids that are involved here but at
10:04least by looking at this you can
10:06visualize the relationship
10:08between
10:10and's wife and so if you look at the top
10:14there you'll see
10:17and right so the two Elders that make
10:22up their children on one side you
10:27see and his sister
10:30F
10:32okay on the other side from the children
10:35of their other kids and we've spoken
10:37about them you see who
10:43is is going to show up in the story of
10:47at the very end so he's ik's Uncle Abu
10:50jah's brother alar was one of the main
10:52enemies of the Prophet S alaihi wasallam
10:54as well he fought the prophet wasallam
10:55all the way until fatah and then he
10:58became a Muslim on the day of the
10:59opening of Mecca as well so he fought
11:01the prophet s alaihi wasallam for 20
11:02years along with Abu Jah so is the son
11:06of Abu jahal obviously and he's married
11:09to a woman named
11:13um who is both as you can see the
11:15daughter
11:17ofam and the daughter of f so marries F
11:23you know what you get out of this it's
11:24funny cuz like uh my brother once made
11:27this comment about the Arab families a
11:29lot of them are not family trees they're
11:30family
11:32spirals you know so benum was marrying
11:35inside the tribe right maintaining the
11:37lineage of benum inside the tribe so KH
11:41is's cousin uh or KH rather yeah he's
11:45ik's cousin and is married to his cousin
11:49so there's a lot of relationship between
11:53and as well as his as well as his wife
11:57uh
11:59and there's a lot of enmity towards the
12:01prophet s wasallam within this family
12:03and so this is a whole family that's
12:05bent on defeating Islam on fighting the
12:09prophet Salli wasam and making sure they
12:11eliminate Islam in every single way so
12:15let's go on insh now to where this all
12:18takes a
12:19turn himself inherits the hatred of the
12:22prophet he hates him because his father
12:24hates him right and for all of those
12:28years the transgression is all coming
12:31from his father towards the prophet Sall
12:33alaihi wasallam and the weak Muslims and
12:36is assisting in that and even other
12:39non-muslim leaders would tell Abu jahal
12:43calm down you are way too much you're
12:46hurting you you know you're violating
12:48all of our standards you're giving us a
12:50bad name your torture is going too
12:52far this rage however in's life towards
12:55the prophet is going to take a turn in
12:57the Battle of bed
12:59in particular Battle of bad obviously
13:03qur surrounds the Muslims they think
13:05that they're going to wipe them out they
13:07outnumber them in every way they're
13:08already celebrating Abu jahal is leading
13:11the army of quray against the
13:13Muslims and I'll give you the story
13:16first and foremost From
13:18abd's perspective ABD said I was
13:21standing on the side of the Muslims
13:23obviously on the day of bad and I looked
13:26to my right and to my left and I had
13:28these two teen
13:29teers and I looked at them and I was
13:31like I wish I had like some some serious
13:35men that were next to me like why am I
13:36between these two teenagers so he
13:41said he like I got to admit I was hoping
13:43that I'd be between like two serious
13:45Warriors like why am I between these two
13:46kids so he
13:50says so one of them tapped my shoulder
13:53so I looked at him and I said what is it
13:55he said he said
13:57Uncle which one of those is Abu
14:00jahal can you imagine it like a teenager
14:02like Taps he's like which one of those
14:04is Abu jahal so I told
14:08him what do you want with Abu J like
14:10what are you going to do to Abu Jal
14:12realize Abu J is the size of Omar he's a
14:14mountain of a man what are you going to
14:16do to Abu J he
14:21said he's a med kid he's never met Abu
14:24jahal in Mecca he said I heard that he
14:26used to abuse the prophet sallallahu
14:28alaihi wasallam
14:29he said I'm going to find him and he
14:31said when I meet him one of us is going
14:33to survive that meeting but not both of
14:36us the other kid Taps his shoulder and
14:38says which one is he ABD points him out
14:42so these two kids are known as the two
14:47mu
14:50and two young Ms may Allah be pleased
14:53with them both two young teenagers that
14:55were there in the battlefield to defend
14:57the prophet Salli wasallam on that
14:59momentous occasion andd says that in the
15:02Battle of bad they both struck Abu jahal
15:04from both sides like they came at him
15:07from both sides but he was so big that
15:11he fell to the ground and even though
15:12they both struck him clean hits he was
15:15still alive and
15:18abdah who was physically right the
15:21shortest of the companions he climbs up
15:25onto Abu jahal and looks him in the eye
15:28realized that Abu jahal one day almost
15:31killed IB for just reading Quran around
15:33the Kaa he he stepped on his collar bone
15:36and broke it beat him
15:39unconscious and
15:41now stands up on him and looks down at
15:45Abu Jal and Abu jahal looks at him and
15:49says you have climbed a difficult climb
15:52oh Shepherd of sheep you little Shepherd
15:55what are you doing who do you think you
15:57are to climb on top of me
16:00and he
16:01asked by the way who's winning the
16:03battle you know I'm not able to fight
16:06anymore but I want to know who's winning
16:07the battle and he
16:11said Victor is to Allah and to the
16:13Messenger s wasam oh enemy of
16:17Allah finishes him right and the prophet
16:21sallallahu alaihi wasallam comes to the
16:23Pharaoh of this um who died like the
16:25Pharaoh of Moses right in a humiliated
16:28way and one of the sahab even saw him
16:31being dragged into the Earth as if it
16:33was something Angelic like Moses like M
16:36drowned the Pharaoh of his day and the
16:38prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
16:40called out to him and he
16:47said have you found the promise of your
16:50lord to be true for I have found the
16:51promise of my Lord to be true they
16:54said they said oh messenger of Allah did
16:56they hear you and the prophet
17:03says Prophet wasallam said they can hear
17:06just as well as you can hear but today
17:08they're unable to say anything all those
17:11days of taunting and cursing and beating
17:13and torturing and now the Pharaoh dies a
17:15miserable fate of this um dies a
17:19miserable fate
17:21now he inherited hatred when he sees his
17:25father on the battlefield he shouts and
17:28he starts shouting rage at the prophet
17:30sallallahu alaihi
17:31wasallam now he wants to kill the
17:34prophet wasam for personal reasons
17:35before it was the hatred of Islam that
17:38he had because his father was the
17:40Pharaoh now the prophet s wasallam is
17:43he's the one who killed my father and
17:45his rage takes a different turn talks
17:48about that like this is something that
17:50consumes him at this point he sees the
17:52prophet Salli wasallam in a different
17:54light and so comes the Battle of now
17:57comes the battle of
17:59here's how it looks Abu sufyan is
18:02commanding the
18:04middle is on the left he has 700
18:08troops is on the right he has 700 troops
18:12and so this is the command ofr this day
18:18and of course orchestrated the uh the
18:22victory on for the other side and killed
18:25all the archers of the Muslims as well
18:31was one of those who fought fiercely in
18:32the Battle of against the prophet Sall
18:35wasam his wife
18:38umake was beating the ward drums so she
18:42was one of those that was singing lyrics
18:44of death against the Muslims beating the
18:46ward drums I mean this is a family that
18:48hates the prophet sallallahu alaihi
18:50wasallam
18:52severely so
18:55finishes was meant to be a genocide of
18:58the musl Muslims right they tried to
18:59surround Medina from every direction and
19:01wipe them out once and for
19:03all was not satisfied after because the
19:06prophet sallam was still alive and he
19:08said I will not live if the prophet
19:09sallam is living Muhammad needs to die
19:11because he killed my father that's his
19:13mindset now he while this is happening
19:17is the chief of benum so he actually
19:18assumes Abu jah's position in society so
19:21in mechan society he's really at the top
19:23of the ladder now right he's really at
19:25the top of the ladder alongside Abu
19:27sufyan and and sort of the next
19:30generation of of leaders now and
19:33[Music]
19:36then comes
19:38to and tells him that he's thinking
19:40about converting to
19:43Islam who blows up at him now remember
19:46the family chart he's khaled's best
19:48friend he's khaled's cousin and he's
19:51married to's niece so and are like
19:56this so when KH tells him I'm thinking
19:59about embracing Islam says you want me
20:01to embrace the religion of the man who
20:03killed my father he can only see the
20:05prophet in that light you want me to
20:07embrace the religion of of the man who
20:09killed my father and was the one who
20:11called the leaders of qur against KH
20:14initially but then stopped the scuffle
20:16because it was about to become a blood
20:17bath in Mecca but he's the one who
20:19initially alerted the leaders of quray
20:22against khed when Khaled went out to
20:24become
20:25Muslim then comes the day
20:30ofat uh and when the prophet Salli wasam
20:32returns to Mecca we know that the
20:35prophet Salli wasallam did not want
20:37Bloodshed on that day right the prophet
20:39s wasam did not want Bloodshed on that
20:41day this was going to be a legacy of
20:44forgiveness forgiveness for the same
20:46people who killed the family of the
20:47Prophet Sall alaihi wasam who killed
20:49many of the Muslims who drove him out of
20:51his land the prophet Sall alaihi
20:52wasallam comes in to Mecca with the same
20:56Spirit of YF of the Prophet
21:00Joseph and he even repeats his message
21:03there is no blame upon you today the
21:05prophet was forgives all of those who
21:07killed his family members all of those
21:09who attempted to kill him and gives a
21:11general amnesty to
21:13Mecca but as they're coming in if you
21:16remember from the lecture
21:19of and are still fighting so they attack
21:24the flank of khed and khed is able to
21:27Ward off their attack now on the side of
21:29the Muslims and he kills 12 men warning
21:32off the attack and and saan flee the
21:38scene so I want you to think about how
21:40bad is the prophet has forgiven Mecca
21:45right the prophet Salli wasallam named
21:48he said that even if you find him
21:50clinging to the Kaa under the cloth of
21:52the Kaa take him
21:54out that's how bad he is this man is
21:58plotting against the prophet s alaihi
21:59wasallam to the very last moment so he's
22:01forgiving Mecca he's even forgiving Abu
22:03sufyan but is still attacking still
22:07abrasive towards the prophet Sall alaihi
22:09wasallam he's blinded by his rage but
22:11after khed now on the side of the
22:13Muslims warded off the attack andan fled
22:17to
22:18Yemen and this is where the story of in
22:22Islam truly
22:25Begins the prophet Salli enters Mecca
22:28and he forgives everyone he offers a
22:30general amnesty to Mecca and this shocks
22:33the enemies of the Prophet sallallahu
22:35alaihi wasallam because by every single
22:39standard he had the right to take
22:41revenge on those who harmed him any law
22:44of War he had the right sallallahu
22:46alaihi wasallam to kill the people who
22:48killed multiple people who crucified
22:50Muslims who carried out all sorts of
22:52massacres but the prophet s wasall was
22:54bringing hearts together he announces
22:57the general amnesty
22:58and this softens the hearts of many of
23:00the former enemies of the Prophet s
23:02alaihi wasam like wow he really is
23:05different he really is different like we
23:08did all this to him if we were in his
23:10shoes we know what we would do to
23:12ourselves and so some of the most vile
23:16enemies of the Prophet sallai wasallam
23:17enter in upon him to personally seek his
23:20forgiveness and the prophet Salli
23:22forgives
23:22them amongst
23:25them who was beating the wardrob and
23:28chanting lyrics of
23:30death you know inciting qur to attack
23:33the Muslims and has now fled to Yemen
23:36and they don't have a cell phone right
23:38so you can't call up she has no idea she
23:40knows her husband fled to Yemen but
23:42she's not in touch with him anymore but
23:45she enters upon the prophet sallallahu
23:47alaihi wasallam and she introduces
23:50herself and she says yah I'm coming to
23:53you as a
23:54Believer as a
23:56Muslim and someone who wholeheartedly
23:58affirms your message at this
24:00point and she doesn't just ask
24:02forgiveness for what she did she says oh
24:05messenger of Allah I've heard that you
24:08basically have commanded that my husband
24:11my husband is and I've heard that you
24:13commanded that he be taken out even if
24:15he's holding on to the cloth of the CA
24:18Oh messenger of Allah I'm asking you to
24:19forgive him and to Grant him safety and
24:21I'll bring him back to you and I'll make
24:24sure that he doesn't harm you what do
24:26you think the prophet s
24:29without any hesitation the prophet Sall
24:31says he's safe he has amnesty right so
24:35the prophet s immediately grants him
24:37amnesty and forgives him so now
24:40um she has to go find him wherever he's
24:45fled and tell him that the prophet Sall
24:48has forgiven you you're okay now come
24:49back to Mecca and let's start over
24:53so has to go on this
24:55journey tells the story from his side
24:58what's happening along the way of the
25:00journey tells the story from her
25:03side gets to Yemen and he realizes we're
25:07still too close to it wasn't called
25:10Saudi Arabia back then of course but
25:11we're still still too close to Mecca I
25:13need to get out of here so the irony of
25:16it all is he's going to board a boat to
25:19where
25:21abisinia habas where they persecuted the
25:24Muslims and caused them to flee two
25:25decades ago tried to run away there and
25:29now wants to flee to ABIA and beg the
25:32Nashi for Refuge the successor to the
25:35Nashi of course the successor to for
25:38Refuge so says I get on a boat in in
25:42Yemen to cross the sea to abisinia to
25:45modern day
25:46Ethiopia and he says that while I was on
25:49the boat right on this boat with all
25:51these people they're
25:53strangers this huge storm comes and the
25:55boat starts to turn right and left and
25:58we all thought we were going to die and
26:00he said then the people that were with
26:02me in the boat the captain calls out and
26:05he
26:11says says Oh My People sincerely pray to
26:15your Lord because no one will save
26:17anyone here except for him and he's like
26:20God I'm surrounded by Muslims here too
26:22right they're they're they're everywhere
26:24these Believers are everywhere and so he
26:26said I'm looking around these people
26:28start praying to Allah they start
26:30supplicating to Allah and what does
26:33Allah actually uses this in the of the
26:39that if they are riding in the boat and
26:41the the ship starts to
26:43shake that's you know a certain thing
26:45overcomes you where you connect to your
26:47one God right everyone calls out to
26:51Allah when the turbulence strikes right
26:54you see the most sincere Dua on the
26:55plane when the plane starts shaking
26:58everyone makes Dua to Allah at that
26:59moment everyone calls on to God so says
27:03everyone arounds me around me is praying
27:05to to
27:06Allah and he said and I realized that
27:09that
27:10moment if Allah is the only one who
27:12saves us on the sea then surely he's the
27:15only one who saves us on the land so he
27:18actually traces Faith entering his heart
27:19to that moment he says that's where
27:21there was a turn for me like Allah was
27:23sending me a message like if only Allah
27:25protects us when we're on the water then
27:28it's only Allah who protects us when
27:29we're on the land in any case the boat
27:32shook so violently that said it came
27:34back to Yemen so he never actually made
27:37it to abisa to
27:39habas and his heart has changed a bit
27:43right that experience that a near-death
27:45experience changes you right his heart
27:46has changed a bit towards Allah subhana
27:49T towards
27:50god um on the other hand is coming to
27:55Yemen as a Muslim the story has plenty
27:58of twists and turns by the way omim had
28:01a Greek
28:03slave from the days of jahia from the
28:06days of
28:07ignorance and she said that as we were
28:10making our way to
28:11[Music]
28:12Yemen along the way of the journey
28:15basically the Greek slave tried to
28:18seduce her and Tred to harass her right
28:22and so he actually made an attempt on
28:24her and so now this whole journey has
28:27changed for her too she's going out to
28:28save her husband but now the man that
28:31she brought to accompany her to to Lead
28:32the Way of the journey right uh harassed
28:35her tried to seduce her so now this
28:38journey means something different so now
28:40she's thinking survival and she said
28:43that while I was fleeing away from him I
28:45found my husband in Yemen I asked about
28:48him I found my husband in Yemen the
28:50first thing I told him was that I came
28:52with this man you know who was who you
28:54know to find you and he he actually made
28:58an attempt on me so this is before they
29:00have any conversation went and found the
29:02man and killed
29:03him right away right like that part of
29:08the journey is done right they haven't
29:11even talked about Islam yet they haven't
29:12talked about the prophet s alaihi
29:13wasallam the whole conversation is about
29:15protecting his wife at this moment and
29:17her getting away from a man that tried
29:19to hurt her right tried to harm her and
29:22then after that's done now the
29:25conversation is to happen
29:28so is happy to see his
29:31wife he tries to approach her as a
29:33husband approaches a wife and she says
29:36no no you can't touch me he says why not
29:39she says I'm a Muslim and you're a
29:41mushrik he says what what are you
29:43talking about she said no I'm a Muslim
29:46now and you need to save yourself from
29:50destruction Muhammad sallallahu alaihi
29:52wasallam is a man of forgiveness and
29:54generosity and he's showing you Mercy he
29:57he's telling you you're forgiven so go
29:59back to him and she basically says to
30:02him look don't just save yourself from
30:03destruction in this life cuz the prophet
30:05s did he condition people becoming
30:07Muslim to give them amnesty in Mecca the
30:09general amnesty no you didn't have to
30:10become Muslim but it was the amnesty and
30:13a lot of people became Muslim through
30:15that amnesty right so she's saying don't
30:17just save yourself from destruction here
30:19but save yourself from destruction in
30:20the as well this man is a prophet of
30:23Allah it's enough of fighting him enough
30:25of this transgression come back with me
30:28to Mecca as a
30:31Believer so basically resolves that
30:34between what happened on the ship and
30:37he's Blown Away by the Forgiveness of
30:39the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
30:40the fact that the prophet is even
30:42willing to give him a chance and now his
30:45wife um is a Muslim too and he's like I
30:48can't live without you I don't know
30:50what's happening here so he says finally
30:53I told her let's go back to Muhammad
30:55sallallahu alaihi
30:56wasallam so now the journey
31:00continues is coming back towards Mecca
31:03with his wife what a journey for the
31:05both of them and wants to come Embrace
31:08Islam with the prophet Sall alaihi wasam
31:09after harassing him tormenting him
31:12fighting him for two
31:14decades and the prophet sallallahu
31:16alaihi wasallam as he's sitting in
31:19Mecca he says to the people that are
31:21sitting around him he
31:24says is coming to you as a muhaj and as
31:28a Muslim he's coming to you as a migrant
31:31and he's coming to you as a Muslim so
31:33clearly it was divinely communicated to
31:36him that had a change of heart so he's
31:38telling the companions look is coming
31:40back and he's coming to you as a migrant
31:43and he's coming to you as a Muslim and
31:45the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
31:47said do not insult his
31:50father Subhan Allah don't hurt his
31:53feelings don't talk bad about his father
31:56do not insult his father the Pharaoh of
31:58the um don't insult him because he says
32:01sallallahu alaihi wasallam that
32:02insulting the dead neither reaches the
32:05dead or benefits the living you're not
32:08going to get anything out of insulting
32:09Abu jahal in his
32:11presence he's free now and we're not
32:14going to hurt him we're not going to
32:16taunt him now subh this is actually says
32:19because was his cousin right Omar is
32:22from this this family
32:25and narrates
32:32that that every time would see he' talk
32:35about how bad Abu J was he hated Abu J I
32:39mean everything Abu Jal did to them and
32:41then came to the prophet Salli wasallam
32:43and complained this is later on so the
32:45prophet sallai wasallam
32:50said let not one of you curse the dead
32:53in a way that you cause grief to the
32:55living it's not worth it so here the
32:57prophet is telling the people in Mecca
32:59look this man's coming back to you don't
33:02talk bad about his father because you're
33:05going to hurt
33:06him there's so much to unpack here is
33:10Abu jahal evil yes he's literally the
33:13Pharaoh of the umah there are ayat of
33:16Quran about him but the prophet s
33:19wasallam understands that loves his
33:22father what would be the point of
33:26hurting him what would be the point of
33:27reminding him of who his father was and
33:30what his father did Prophet s was trying
33:33to win Hearts here he's trying to build
33:35a community of hearts and it's important
33:39here which shows us right that you know
33:43sometimes we think of these things in a
33:44black and white way and it's not all
33:45black and white there is complexity here
33:47to human emotion that's to be taken into
33:50consideration especially when you're
33:51trying to bring people together right so
33:54the prophet knows is coming to him
33:57as a Muslim he sees s
34:02wasam and coming to him and the prophet
34:06s was says from far away as is
34:09approaching with a lot of hesitation now
34:11if he's on the other side he'd trick the
34:13prophet sallai wasallam right he'd kill
34:14him right at the spot so he's
34:17approaching with some hesitation and the
34:19prophet Salli wasallam
34:22said welcome to the migrant who rides
34:25towards me
34:29so he greets him with a lot of
34:31love and some of the scholars say
34:33calling him a is also in a way of saying
34:36to him about time cuz like everybody
34:39else around you has migrated to Medina
34:42now and and done what they were supposed
34:44to do before the fat before the opening
34:46of Mecca but here you are coming as a
34:49muhaj to your land in Mecca you're
34:51coming back to Mecca as a migrant
34:53seeking
34:55safety
34:58so comes to the prophet
35:01wasallam and he puts his head down and
35:04he stretches out his hand to the prophet
35:05sallallahu alaihi wasallam and he said
35:08oh messenger of
35:09Allah what is it that I should
35:12say what do I say like where do I even
35:16start so the prophet s alaihi wasallam
35:18has him repeat the
35:21shahada and is highly
35:24emotional so he says to the prophet
35:31ask Allah to forgive me for all those
35:34times I fought against you for all those
35:37times I cursed you for all those times I
35:40obstructed the way to
35:43you seek Allah's forgiveness for me now
35:46by the way again like the prophet s
35:48doesn't have to do all this stuff he
35:49could say look I already let you go at
35:52least you know slap on the wrist like
35:54you've been at this until the very very
35:57last moment but the prophet sallallah
35:59alaihi wasallam raises his hands and he
36:16said oh Allah oh my Lord forgive him for
36:20all the hostility he directed against me
36:23for all the battles he fought against me
36:25seeking to put out your light forgive
36:28him for everything bad he ever said
36:30about me in front of me and everything
36:33bad he ever said about me when I wasn't
36:34even there anything he said about me in
36:37my presence anything he said about me in
36:39my
36:42absence whose face beams right with joy
36:45like you know he got that Dua from the
36:48prophet that
36:49supplication and he
36:51said I swear by I swear by Allah oh
36:54messenger of
36:55Allah
37:01I swear by by Allah oh messenger of
37:03Allah I will
37:04not I will not rest until I spend in the
37:09way of Allah everything that I spent
37:11against Allah subhana wa T's way and
37:15fighting for the cause of Allah just as
37:17I fought against the cause of Allah like
37:19I'm going to make this
37:21up I'm going to redeem myself oh
37:24messenger of Allah and he's essentially
37:26swearing ing to the prophet sallallahu
37:27alaihi wasallam that I want to do
37:30everything that I did against you more
37:32for you so the prophet won his heart and
37:36Islam won his heart at this
37:39point not only did he become Muslim as
37:42IM narrates his Islam became excellent
37:46IM said would go on to distinguish
37:49himself as a man who endures the
37:53greatest trials for the sake of Allah
37:54subhana wa tala that's
37:58and his oath and this is really
38:00beautiful he
38:02narrates that the oath that would take
38:05you know he wouldn't just say he would
38:11say by the one who saved me on the day
38:13of bad there's something deeply profound
38:16about this the day of bad was the time
38:19that he turned against the prophet s
38:20alaihi wasallam truly like his heart was
38:22filled with hatred against the prophet
38:23because his father died on the day of v
38:25on that day of the battle
38:27and he realizes that if I would have
38:29died on the day of bad if Allah would
38:32have decreed that I would be dead on the
38:34day of B then I'd be just like my father
38:36in the punishment I'd be just another
38:39Mini lost in the dpin of history but
38:42Allah saved me on that day and Allah
38:45brought me to this position and what an
38:48amazing favor from Allah subhah wa tala
38:51so he would
38:53say I swear by the one who saved me on
38:56the day of you want more about how
38:59excellent his Islam
39:01became said it was said that never
39:04committed a sin from the day he became
39:10Muslim he was you know Brave in battle
39:15he would fast long into the days he
39:17would stand long into the nights and you
39:20would see him in the Masjid holding the
39:23Quran to his face at times and he was
39:26crying and he was
39:33saying the book of my Lord the words of
39:36my Lord like he completely transformed
39:38and Subhan Allah you have to think about
39:40how the rage that he had against the
39:41prophet s alaihi wasallam for his father
39:43who was the Pharaoh of the umah was
39:46blinding him from the beauty of faith
39:47and when he allowed Islam to enter into
39:49his heart look how much he changed which
39:53shows you that what the prophet sallai
39:54wasallam wanted for his father now was
39:57his reality and it was like whose heart
40:00completely changed after becoming uh or
40:04or or you know after being one of the
40:06greatest enemies of the prophet
40:07sallallahu alaihi wasallam he went
40:09around
40:11Mecca after the prophet sallallahu
40:13alaihi wasallam and he disposed of the
40:14idols alongside the prophet sallallah
40:17alai
40:20wasallam commissioned him uh on and when
40:26there was uh the battle of
40:29the uh he was one of those who went out
40:32as a commander under Abu bakik one of
40:35the things that regretted so much is
40:38that unlike his two friends he never got
40:41to actually be alongside the prophet s
40:44wasallam right he never got that that
40:47moment had his moment
40:50in had his moment in that and Beyond but
40:54he never got that right the prophet Sall
40:56passed away and he never got to be
40:58alongside the prophet Sall alaihi
40:59wasallam in those difficult moments but
41:02now he is commissioned under
41:06ab and as says was one of the Bravest
41:11Warriors strong Brave and he was someone
41:14who would bring about you know a sense
41:16of energy and Zeal to his companions in
41:20the
41:21battlefield and then it comes down to
41:24the day of yuk the battle of
41:27Y the Battle of Y which of course we've
41:30talked about in great detail over the
41:31last few weeks
41:34under is where the companions meet in
41:39this consequential battle against the
41:41Roman
41:42Empire and this was really the game Cher
41:46as we've said between the Byzantine
41:48Empire the Roman Empire and this small
41:51group of Muslims and I want you to
41:53imagine this day of yuk now and bringing
41:56it all back together from the day of on
41:59that day of you
42:01have commanding the Army you
42:06have leading you
42:10have leading one flank you
42:13have the brother of Abu
42:16J and the father-in-law
42:18of plunging into the battlefield and
42:21leading with great bravery so all of
42:23these people that once fought the
42:24prophet Sall alaihi wasallam and those
42:26who orchestrated against the prophet s
42:28alaihi wasallam are now in y and they're
42:33all on one side and they're all
42:36righteous and Pious men at this point
42:38who have completely changed their
42:40hearts and you have this
42:43man the son of
42:45Abu
42:47and is leading the Army he
42:50sees going
42:52deep and he's breaking swords and he's
42:55taking hit after hit after hit after
42:58hit and has this really emotional
43:02conversation with him he tells
43:05him don't plunge too deeply because your
43:08loss would be a severe hit for the
43:09Muslims we need you you're going too
43:12hard like I need you to be a bit more
43:14strategic about this you're going so
43:17deep and we're outnumbered by the Romans
43:19here like we got to be strategic about
43:21this and the last conversation has with
43:25the two men that were commanding the two
43:27flanks on the day
43:31of leave
43:37me you have a past where you got to be
43:40alongside the messenger of Allah
43:42wasallam you got to be there with the
43:44prophet sallallah alai
43:49wasallam alhi wasallam and me and my
43:51father were of the severest enemies of
43:53the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
43:54meaning you had your moment with the
43:56prophet S wasam I didn't have my moment
43:59I was his enemy in every single battle
44:01we fought and I never had my moment you
44:03had your
44:04moment and he
44:08says so let meate for all the evil that
44:12I did let me expiate for all the evil
44:14that I did at this point had donated he
44:17was a rich man he inherited the wealth
44:19of Abu J donated that all for the sake
44:21of Allah tala and now here he is in
44:24battle and telling KH KH you you don't
44:26know what it's like to be me you don't
44:27know the guilt that I carry having
44:29fought the prophet s was in every single
44:32battle and he said the last thing he
44:35said to he
44:44said he said I fought the prophet s
44:46alaihi wasallam in so many battles you
44:48want me to flee from the Romans today
44:50you want me to flee from the Romans
44:52today I said no way and he called out
44:57and he said who's going to go with me
44:59and said I'm with you and said I'm with
45:03you and they went forth and they had a
45:07major part to do with the victory on
45:10that day of Y and it was narrated
45:15that suffered over 75 wounds on the day
45:20of yuk his body was wounded in every
45:22direction on the day of
45:24yuk and then you have the beautiful
45:28ending of this man that comes up in many
45:31of the Ramadan fundraisers comes up in
45:33many of the
45:34Ramadan because if you read in the books
45:37of tus the books of spirituality there
45:39is a chapter called
45:42selflessness and under pretty much every
45:44explanation of
45:48the no one of you truly believes until
45:50he loves for his brother what he loves
45:51for himself this story will show up
45:54almost in every single explanation of
45:56this and it's basically after the battle
45:59of imagine the
46:02scene is laying and he's wounded over 70
46:05times next to him or amongst the wounded
46:09that
46:10day the brother of Abu J his uncle and
46:14then just a few feet away
46:18from who was the brother of Abu jahal
46:21through his mother right he shared the
46:23same mother with Abu jahal and Abu jahal
46:26tortured him and brought him back to
46:27Mecca forced him out of Islam and Allah
46:33revealed say oh my servants who have
46:35transgressed against themselves do not
46:37despair from the mercy of Allah all
46:39three of them are now laying amongst the
46:41wounded and the water carrier he said I
46:44looked out to out to the wounded and the
46:47first person I went to was I mean this
46:50is one of the SS of qur one of the
46:53leaders khaled's best friend said I went
46:56out to and I tried to give him water and
47:00said go to my
47:04brother my
47:06uncle and check on him first so he said
47:09I carried the water and I went
47:12toam andam said go
47:16to and check on him first so he said I
47:19carried the water
47:21to and then said go to my brother so and
47:24so and so I went to him next
47:27and he said so I went around 10 men from
47:29the wounded and each of them refused the
47:32water and said go to my brother go to my
47:35brother go to my brother go to my
47:37brother he said and so I went back
47:40to and I found that he had died then I
47:43went to and he was dead then I went to
47:45aash and he was dead and then I went to
47:48the rest of the seven men and all of
47:50them had died that
47:54day so Subhan Allah the ending of is the
47:59opposite of his father and it shows you
48:02the power of redemption of a man and
48:04that this man dies as a Shahed and while
48:07his father was too blinded by his greed
48:11and oppose the prophet alaihi wasallam
48:13becomes the story of the story of
48:17selflessness that shows up in the books
48:20of but it doesn't stop with him his
48:24wife
48:28uh after dies after he's martyred she
48:34marries if you go back in the first
48:36playlist and you go all the way down the
48:38first KH we covered was actually
48:40not it was this khed who was one of the
48:43first
48:44Muslims so khed marries
48:47her on the night of the battle
48:52of which is known as the battle at the
48:55gates of
48:56Damascus brother Gan is here from Syrian
49:00form so we hear about suria and the
49:01famous stories of suria may Allah make
49:03it easy for our brothers and sisters in
49:05the Sham in Syria and in festine and all
49:07over
49:08Allah there's a famous bridge in Syria
49:12known
49:14Asim the bridge of and there's a story
49:18from the Widow
49:20of who was also again an evil woman at
49:23one time beating the Drums of
49:28persecution against the prophet s Ali
49:30wasam and now she's married to and she
49:33married the night
49:36before and he was martyred in that
49:39battle so she was married to him for one
49:41night and she picked up a tent pole and
49:44she was able to take out seven Roman
49:47soldiers by
49:49herself and she survived the battle so
49:52they named The
49:54Bridge the bridge
49:57of and then after KH passes away the
50:02person who marries her
50:07is
50:09marries and they have a daughter by the
50:11name of Fatima B Omar so Fatima the
50:15daughter of
50:16Omar Fatima also was the name of the
50:19mother
50:21of they had this one daughter Fatima and
50:25she passes away as
50:28well as a widow
50:33of they had one son between and whose
50:39name was
50:40also he became Muslim on the same day as
50:43his father and he died as a Shah on the
50:46day of yuk as well he's counted amongst
50:48the sh of Y and so therefore had no
50:51lineage that outlived him but Subhan
50:53Allah in this story again is is an
50:56incredible story of redemption shows you
50:59the way that a person's heart can change
51:01it shows you that a way the way that a
51:04man who is the son of the most evil that
51:07this um has seen could become one of its
51:09most righteous could become one of its
51:11most distinguished
51:12worshippers it shows you not to lose
51:14hope in people it shows you not to lose
51:17hope in yourself you know when you read
51:19a Hadith about those that killed 99
51:21people and those that killed you know
51:22people who were forgiven for Grievous
51:24crimes you ask yourself did I commit
51:26these evil sins did I do these evil
51:28Deeds so it shows you the power of your
51:30own repentance and it shows you how
51:32Allah subh can write the story of a
51:35person so differently and what Allah
51:37subh saw in the heart
51:39of that made him so worthy of having
51:42this ending of a Shahid in the Battle of
51:45Y instead of a death on the Battle of
51:49bad fighting the prophet s alongside his
51:51father who was the of this um we ask
51:53Allah to be pleased with to be pleased
51:56with to be pleased with the righteous
51:59that have passed before us and to make
52:00us amongst the righteous as well we ask
52:02Allah to accept our repentance to
52:04forgive us for our shortcomings to show
52:06us mercy and to put Mercy in our hearts
52:08and to accept our Deeds despite their
52:19[Music]
52:22shortcomings
