NEW: Copilot in Excel | Here's why it's incredible!

0:00Microsoft co-pilot is finally here

0:03there's been a ton of new Excel features

0:05recently but this takes it to a whole

0:08another level so in this comprehensive

0:11guide let's go over how to use it in

0:13Microsoft Excel in PowerPoint for slide

0:17making and in Outlook for drafting

0:20emails as of this video it's still only

0:23available to a select few customers but

0:25let me show you how it can save hours of

0:28time first up with co-pilot in Excel you

0:31can see over here that we have a small

0:33table just to experiment with so if we

0:36go over to the Home tab you're going to

0:38find the co-pilot all the way to the

0:40right so let's just click on that to

0:42activate it once the dialogue Box is

0:44open over here it needs to convert the

0:46data that we currently have into a table

0:49so we can just hit on convert there to

0:51do so all right now we can either type

0:53our requests down over here or we can go

0:56by their suggested categories where they

0:58have these four so let's go over the

1:00first one of adding formula columns

1:03we'll just click on that and let's

1:05suppose that we want to merge the first

1:07two columns the first and the last

1:09simply to name and have them together so

1:12I could type here something like merge

1:14first and last column into one add space

1:21between them and hit

1:24enter so here's the suggestion and you

1:27can see it's basically made this formula

1:29for us and we can either click over here

1:31to get it explained or we can just

1:33insert a new column with it we can have

1:35it previewing over on the side you can

1:38see there that it's called it full name

1:40and it's basically merged the Max and

1:42the first upen without co-pilot we would

1:44have had to know how to use this formula

1:46completely on our own now what about

1:49numerical formulas so let's suppose here

1:52that we want to find the profit margin

1:54so we can add add new column for profit

1:59margin and just hit enter there we

2:01haven't actually told it what the

2:03formula is for profit margin which is

2:05just profit divided by Revenue but let's

2:07see if it's able to figure that

2:09out awesome so it's given us this

2:12suggestion over here and it's telling us

2:14the formula which is the profit divided

2:16by the revenue and that's all looking

2:18good there we can just click on insert

2:20there and we can find that we have the

2:22same profit margin of 35% throughout so

2:26it works pretty well with formulas and

2:28now let's take a look at some of the

2:30Highlight options so if we scroll back

2:32up you see we have this highlight

2:34feature so let's try using that one for

2:37example we could ask it highlight the

2:40highest revenue and hit enter

2:44there you can see there that it's

2:46identified the revenue column and within

2:49it it's highlighted this one over here

2:51as the highest now that's still a simple

2:54example what if we add some kind of an

2:56if condition there so for example only

2:59highlight the client i s that have less

3:01than 20 customers so we can go ahead and

3:04type highlight clients at less than 20

3:09and hit

3:10enter awesome you can see there that

3:12it's been able to detect these three

3:14clients now if I change this figure to

3:17A10 you'll notice that it also gets

3:19detected so it's actually fully dynamic

3:22as well next up we can test how well it

3:24works for sorting and filtering so if we

3:27scroll back up we can just click on the

3:30and filter option and from here let's

3:32suppose that we want to um sort the

3:35revenue from high to low and see what

3:38happens there you'll notice there that

3:41it's been able to sort everything from

3:43highest to lowest now that's still a

3:45fairly simple example maybe a slightly

3:47harder one can be to only filter by

3:50those that have a profit above certain

3:52amounts so maybe we can say only select

3:56select the profit of the top five maybe

4:00instead of only select filter for the

4:03profit of the top five awesome you can

4:07see there that it's only filtered by the

4:08top five and we can now say to remove

4:11all filters and it should do that

4:14nicely great so you can see there it's

4:17quite a powerful tool but we haven't

4:19quite tried it yet with any kind of

4:21visuals so let's take a look at how we

4:23can do that with the analyze button over

4:26here so let's click on that analyze

4:29let's suppose that we want to just find

4:30some insights so what are some insights

4:35about the data set hit enter there let's

4:38see what it says you'll notice that I

4:40have made a typo but let's see if it's

4:42still able to interpret that and you can

4:45see here that it's actually generated

4:46this pivot chart if we click on add to a

4:49new sheet just for us to see better you

4:51can see that this is a pivot table as

4:53you can see by the popup there and it's

4:55showing the number of clients by the

4:57star ratings if we go back over here we

5:00can also ask it for specific charts like

5:03maybe it can be uh create a column chart

5:06by revenue for each full

5:11name awesome you can see there what is

5:14generated I can click on add to new

5:16sheet just for you to see that this

5:18analyze feature is actually very similar

5:20to the analyze data that we already had

5:22in Excel previously while co-pilot is

5:25looking very exciting it does have some

5:28flaws so let me show you you some

5:29examples of that let's suppose that we

5:31want to remove estan peon over here so

5:34we can type it remove estan peon row and

5:39just hit enter there you'll notice that

5:41it actually isn't able to do it let's

5:43see what it says like I anticipated it

5:46says here I'm sorry but I couldn't

5:48perform the actions you requested and

5:50instead it just tells you the steps to

5:52go ahead and do them yourself another

5:54notable flaw is that it doesn't quite

5:56work if you have two tables and you want

5:58to ask it say to merge them things like

6:01that don't quite work same thing goes

6:03with data that's outside of a table I

6:05have this cell here selected for now and

6:07it's saying hey I only work with an

6:09Excel table so we're actually unable to

6:12type anything down below unless we're

6:15inside of the table format that's an

6:17overview of co-pilot in Excel so let's

6:19now take a look at it in PowerPoint over

6:22here you can see that I have a

6:24presentation which is completely blank

6:26and under the Home tab I can click on

6:29COD pilot just like before within this

6:32we can either click down over here under

6:34view prompts to see some of the

6:36suggestions of what we we might be able

6:38to ask it or simply you can just type

6:41whatever you want let's say I have

6:43something in mind like this over here

6:45where I have make a five slide

6:47presentation on creating an excellent

6:49company

6:50culture great you'll notice there that

6:52it's generated five different slides

6:55kind of outlining the key steps we take

6:57a look down over here under notes you'll

6:59realize that it's also generated some

7:01notes for us maybe in the case of a

7:03presentation what if we also want a

7:06table of content slide well we can

7:08simply request one like can you add a

7:10slide after a title slide with a table

7:13of

7:14contents awesome you can see there that

7:16it's created a table of content slide

7:19with some of the titles that said the

7:21first title over here building a company

7:23culture that works is actually the one

7:25that you would have in the title so

7:27that's a bit of a mistake there while

7:29all of these are specific edits to the

7:31PowerPoint slides we can also ask it to

7:33interpret it for example let's suppose

7:35we want to ask it what are the three

7:38main

7:39takeaways from the

7:42presentation while we wait for this to

7:44generate something like this can be

7:45really useful to send as an email in the

7:48form of a summary and the PowerPoint

7:50slides attached so if we take a look

7:53over here what it said here's a summary

7:55of the deck and it's got the main ideas

7:58that said they're not exact L three

8:00there are a few more than that but you

8:02kind of get the idea of how it can work

8:04so far pretty impressive but we still

8:07have Outlook so let's take a look at

8:09that one we can just click on new email

8:11over here let me make it full screen

8:14you'll notice within that that we have

8:16type SL2 draft with co-pilot you can

8:20also activate it with this button over

8:22here so let's go ahead and start typing

8:24you'll notice we get this popup and

8:27suppose we want to say that we're out of

8:28office

8:29so I've just put that I'll be out of

8:31office until January 5th due to surgery

8:33let's see if it's able to make it a bit

8:35fancier than that awesome you can see

8:38there that it's made it a lot fancier

8:40with I would like to inform you that

8:41I'll be out of office and then it's just

8:44added some supplemental text after that

8:46like during this time going to be unable

8:48to respond to emails and so on and so

8:50forth so it's really a lot better than

8:52what we wrote that's a fairly easy email

8:55though so let's make something slightly

8:57harder like for example a meeting with

8:59an investor so I've said that meeting

9:02with our investors went great they're

9:04going to be investing a further 5

9:06million let's go ahead and see what it

9:08has to say there this is starting to

9:10look great I'm happy to report that our

9:12meeting with investors went very well

9:15they're impressed with our progress and

9:16they've agreed to invest an additional 5

9:18million in our company and so on and so

9:20forth so it looks a lot more

9:22professional alongside drafting emails

9:25there is also a coaching tool which you

9:27can also find up over here under

9:29coaching by co-pilot what this one does

9:32is it actually guides you as you write

9:34an email and sets your tone as opposed

9:36to changing your words directly so you

9:38can see here I have some text that I've

9:40generated and I can go over to coaching

9:43by co-pilot where it's going to start

9:45analyzing the email from here it's going

9:47to tell me what my tone is and how it

9:50could be improved and it's also giving

9:51me some suggestions of text as well as

9:54the reader sentiment and they sound

9:56excited which is good and some clarity

9:59where maybe I could add a few more

10:01details so that's Co coaching by

10:03co-pilot so you can see overall co-pilot

10:06is a huge upgrade and something that's

10:08going to make you a lot more productive

10:11unfortunately it's not yet available for
